Extremely disrespectful younger lady answered the phone. Within the first minute I felt belittled and disrespected. I scheduled an appointment and took my car in to check for a leaking tire. I sat in the waiting room for about 30 minutes, which was no problem. They came back and told me there was a nail in my side wall and the tire was unfixable. they also told me that my other tire was leaking as well. I took the tire home and bought a repair kit and when I take the tire off, it came to my surprise there was a nail directly in the center and it only took me about 10 minutes to fix instead of $350 to fix both "leaky tires". I was not only disrespected, but told false information and I will never be coming back unless the management has changed. read more

I went to this Goodyear last year for a starter/ignition issue. This week, my car wouldn't start, so I took it back to the same Goodyear in case the starter was still under warranty. My dad called before I got there and explained the issue, asked them to check on the warranty and see what was going on. I had to tow the car there. I left it there on a Monday. At 5:45 on Tuesday (they close at 6), the mechanic called and told me the solenoids were stuck and that the thermostat was failing. He mentioned an issue with the catalytic converter as well and quoted me $2k at minimum to fix all three. I said no to the catalytic converter because it was working fine and he confirmed it wasn't a functionality or safety concern. When I asked if the solenoids were on warranty because I saw them on an invoice I had from them in 2023, the mechanic very quickly rushed to get off the phone saying they were about to close and he would check in the morning. Again, they close at 6 and he waited until 5:45 to discuss the issues with the car with me. I called the next morning, so it's Wednesday now, and told them to go ahead with the solenoids and thermostat and not to do the catalytic converter. Christine at the front desk answered and mentioned the 3 repairs above, as well as an exhaust pipe issue. I tell her that the mechanic didn't tell me about the exhaust pipe. She moves on quickly, not clarifying what the issue was, what the cost would be, or whether or not it was a safety, functionality, or aesthetic concern. Around 2 or 3 pm that same day, the mechanic called me and said he "suspected" the reason the car wouldn't start was the timing belt being loose, not the solenoids. He suggested they replace the timing belt, leave the solenoids, and still do the thermostat. So are the solenoids stuck or not? He doesn't clarify. I explained that I'd gotten the timing belt replaced 2 years prior and got a fault code on my dashboard every day when it was broken. Why wasn't I getting the fault code now? He launches into a bunch of technical talk and then quotes me for $1400. I have my dad call back instead because I am used to mechanics trying to bully me because I am a young woman. My dad tells me the mechanic told him the timing belt was cracked, not loose, which is not what the mechanic told me. I expressed my concern that I'd be dropping $1400 on a repair when they aren't even sure if that is the reason it wouldn't start. They also told my dad that the car was running fine and was driveable. It's getting close to 6, so I call Goodyear back and tell them to just do the timing belt. The mechanic then said that they weren't gonna work on the car that afternoon, so I could call him back in the morning. I planned to pick up the car the next day and take it to a different mechanic since they told my dad it was driveable. When I call the next morning, so it's now Thursday, Christine picks up, doesn't let me talk, and goes to ask the mechanic about the car. When she gets back on the phone, I explain that I am going to come pick it up and for them not to touch it anymore. She asks me if I am getting a tow because it isn't driveable. I explain that I'm over the back and forth and getting conflicting information every time I or my parent talk to them. She denies ever speaking with me, or telling me something different than the mechanic. I told her not to touch the car and that I would get it towed. When the tow truck arrives hours later, he tells me the car isn't ready and that he won't be able to wait. I called Goodyear to let them know I would have another tow truck pick up my car and just needed to know when the car was ready. Christine claimed she couldn't "make any promises" about giving me a call when the car was finished. What mechanic doesn't call you when your car is finished so you can come and pick it up? I call later and ask if the car is ready. The tow truck comes. My car is with a different shop now, thank god. Whether the issue is a lack of communication, organization, leadership, or a combination of all three, all I know is that their issues and unprofessionalism caused days of unnecessary stress for me. Had they behaved appropriately, taken accountability, or communicated any information effectively, I would've paid for the repair and they would have kept my business. I have never dealt with any shop being that uncommunicative, defensive, contradictory, or flat-out rude. It took 4 days for me to get my car back as they wasted my time and still didn't know why it didn't start on Monday. Treating your customers that way is unbecoming of any business, especially ones reliant on maintaining long-lasting relationships with customers. I hope they fire that rude, combative, lying woman at the front desk and hire mechanics with a proper work ethic and the ability to keep their lies straight at the least, and not waste people's time or drain their pockets at the most. read more

Horrible scammers! They tried to take advantage of my teenage son. He went in there with a leak in his tire and they told him that he had a nail in his sidewall and needed a new tire. We took the tire off ourselves and found the nail hole with soap and water, and it was near the center of the tire... Fixed it ourselves. I called the manager to complain, and she was unfriendly, and just downright mean! Do not go here unless you want to get scammed.!!! read more

I have had nothing but good experiences here. They will air up your tires, anytime for free. Their basic oil changes are cheap, around $25. And they have been honest so far with my car maintenance recommendations. Also, as a woman, going to get your car fixed can be stressful because you never know how you are going to get treated by the business. I would say that I have always felt respected and the staff does a good job educating me on what is going on with my car. So far I have just had minor things done such as oil changes, tire rotation, and vehicle alignments. If something major happens down the road carwise, I'll be sure to give them a call. read more

I discovered I had a nail in my tire ... left work to get it plugged ( crossing fingers ) .. the guys told me that there were 2 nails and it has to be replaced ... my 2018 equinox ... sigh .. they do not have the tire it would cost 365.00 and could have one by Tuesday .. I was told if I go get a tire from the dealer ( across town) they would be happy to change it .. DeNooyer had a tire cost was 266.00 out the door .. get it back to Good Year they change the tire ... go back to work ... I look at me tire ... They changed the wrong tire !!! BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT TRUST THE GOODYEAR AT THE LANSING OR PORTAGE LOCATIONS! I have an AWD drive vehicle, and 18 months ago I damaged one tire. Went to Portage location and was told I have to buy four new tires because they could not replace just one. If they were to replace only one, it could damage the drivetrain, which is true. I spent over $800 on new tires and was sold "roadside protection plan" that would prevent me from having to go through this again. With the manager saying, "If you buy the protection plan, and one tire is damaged, we will replace all four due to the AWD." Of course, I took his word for it. Well, a week ago my wife had a tire destroyed, and we took in for repair. They wanted to charge us to replace three of the tires, stating that they cannot replace just one. I informed them of what the Portage location told us, and they said it is wrong. Called Kim at Corporate office and her solution was just to go ahead an replace the one tire. When I requested that she put her recommendation in writing, she started backtracking and requested that she call me back with a better resolution. Had we went ahead with her recommendation, it would have severely damaged our car. Goodyear's resolution to this was to either pay for the additional three tires, and they would honor the warranty for one, or you get nothing. When I brought up what the manager at the Portage location told us, she said that there is no way of proving what was said. So they sent my wife home on icy roads with a 2 and 4-year-old, on a small donut tire (after telling her she should not be driving on the donut for safety reasons) after trying to intimidate her for over an hour is how this company treats it is customers. Bottom line, please be very cautious when dealing with this company. If it is not in writing, they will not back it up. Rude and dishonest. I hope no one has to go through the wasted time and money as we did. read more

I blew out a tire driving through Kalamazoo in the midst of of ~300 mile trek. I drove on my donut to this store because it just happened to be there. Even though I was obviously in no position to bargain, the owner gave me a fair price on the tire and they took care of it with no problems at all. While I was waiting, I just hung out in the "showroom" (do tire shops have showrooms?). And I honestly think that the owner knew every customer by name. It was obvious that his customers were regulars, and every customer seemed to trust his advice. If I lived in Kalamazoo this is where I'd go for any car maintenance. read more

I had a wonky electrical issue with my car so I took it in because I saw through the website that a) they were open on Saturday and b) they could diagnose electrical issues. Initially they couldn't replicate the problem but they did find a belt that needed to be replaced so they replaced that and told me if the issues continued, to bring it back. Well, the issues continued. They were so intermittent I knew it had to be a grounding or loose wire. I did some digging prior to bringing it back in and saw some potential causes for the issue so that way when I brought it in, I could more easily explain what was going on and give them a direction to go in. The gentleman I dealt with, John, was extremely nice and he listened to my explanation of the issue as well as what I found for a possible cause/solution (a loose battery connection). About ten minutes after having my car in he came into the waiting room area and showed me that it was exactly that. He also cleared all the electrical codes it was throwing. Haven't had a problem with my car since. I just really appreciated the fact that he listened to me when in the past I've been dismissed for being a woman and/or lectured. And through it all, I was only charged for the belt. That to me is service. read more

My husband recently took our car to goodyear on westnedge and kilgore for an oil change, only because we had a $15 oil change coupon. These a**holes then told him: -our serpentine belt was ragged and about to fall off, AND he might not make it home!! My husband said he'd check it at home. -our airfilter was completely clogged and was probably causing us to get worse gas mileage. They did not show him the filter. Just out of curiosity, he asked for a quote for replacing the belt and airfilter. They really said $115!!!! $60 for the serpentine belt!!! A serpentine belt for my car costs UNDER $10, we checked online. -lastly, the actually said our tires were going bald and all four needed to be replaced soon. Well, I am the original owner on this car. It has 60,000 miles on it. When home, we looked at the belt that was about to fall off- looks as good as the day I got the car. We looked at the airfilter. Hardly any dust can be seen on it. I knew this, because everytime I get an oil change elsewhere, they show me the filter. And as for our tires, I got brand new tires from belle tire last march!! Seriously, my cheap tires can last at least 30,000 miles. They only have like 15,000 miles on them for 14 months. When my husband told me all this I seriously laughed. Don't let them try to rip you off too. A $15 oil change was okay, just don't go there if you don't know how to say no. read more
