I saw there was only 1 and felt I should add my experiences. My family has been taking our cars here for almost 30 years. Extremely reliable and honest service. Fast, fair prices, straight talk and no upsells or unnecessary work. They find what's wrong, fix it, and nothing more. What else can you ask for? We have had numerous quick repairs done at no cost and some extensive diagnosis work done for very little or free. I personally have lived in various cities and been to countless mechanics with numerous cars and have not yet found a repair shop as reliable as Woodwards. When someone asks me if I know a good mechanic in my current city I say "No, but let me tell you about my mechanic in Kalamazoo"

Shoemaker's looked at the report then upon further inspection (cleaned under the car, then attempted to drive it around so they can see whether it would leak) found that there was actually no leak at all! They are very thorough in their care for the car and took the time to explain everything to me, they saved me from having to pay for an expensive and unnecessary service I would have had at Toyota. They are incredibly friendly and courteous even offering to drive me home after they found out i was planning on walking in -9 degree weather. I will be back and Shoemaker's will be my go to mechanic.

I tried filling out a customer support form with them online and then also filled out a parts request form complete with part number. They never got back to me in any way. But then I found ToyoTechs and everything changed. I filled out a service request form on their website in the evening and was contacted immediately the next morning via voicemail and email. Long story short. Blane at the front desk hooked me up with my bolts for a great price and also in record time. He even called their parts distributor to make sure I would receive them before the weekend, which I did. It really showed me how much these guys care about their customers because they went above and beyond for such a small sale . I just purchased a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas on May16, 2026 from a dealership in Nunica, MI after…read moredriving it home back to Kalamazoo I noticed fluid leaking I thought it was from the radiator because the fluid was clear, 10 days later the check engine light came on saying check my oil level during these ten days I started hearing the brakes squeal. On May 21, 2026, I called Master Mechanics because they specialize in Volkswagen and other European vehicles. They couldn't get it in that day I had to wait until May 27, 2026, because they were booked up and Memorial Day was coming on May 26, 2026, that's when the check engine light came on. I paid 39.95 for them to check out my oil leak issue and I paid 39.95 for them to check out why my brakes was squealing when braking. Well, they said my brakes look fine and that the noise was coming come the belt tensioner. After leaving the shop my brakes were still squealing here and there by the time I get almost home the brakes are squealing more. Well, I had to go into the hospital for a procedure on my heart in two days. I said I will deal with this after my procedure and so I did I called them back and was told to bring it in for a recheck, well the mechanic comes to me outside where I was seating saying it's your brake pads and asks me to get in the vehicle with him while drives so I can show him what I hear while driving so off we go, he says to me I wasn't the mechanic who worked on your vehicle the first time I tell him that the other mechanics said the brakes were fine, so he hears what I was telling him about the brakes squeal noise he says yeah it's definitely your brake pads so we get back to the shop he says to me let me check it out some more so we don't have any more misdiagnose- miscommunications so he takes the vehicle out again with another mechanic in the vehicle with him they get back pull it in the garage, finally he brings the vehicle out and park it I walk over to him, so he's saying he wrote some notes and the men at the counter will be with me shortly eventually I get up to the counter and they guy at the counter says we looked back from when you first brought your vehicle in and we couldn't see the brakes! But it looks like the dealership changed the brake pads but used cheaper ones but yeah it's your brakes pad and we need to scuff your rotors, so I'm livid but I can't afford to get upset or stressed because of my heart failure so know he says and yeah you got another leak going on in the housing area around the oil filter, I paid 493.00 for the belt tensioner that had nothing to do with the squealing noise coming from the brakes because I googled this after I started hearing the squealing noise come back, the fact that I was told they couldn't see my brake issue the first time is insane when they specialize in my brand of vehicle!! I want a refund for that belt tensioner, my trust is out the door with this establishment, not to mention I brought my land rover to them back in the summer of 2024 about some issues I was having with it at that time they were informative and said I needed a new engine and they didn't want to put work into it and charge me for anything because the engine was failing already, which I kind of figured that because my timing chain was making a loud noise at the time. This experience was very irritating; they didn't offer any compensation on their lack concerning my brakes and charging me for something that was not the issue. This is not professionalism at all.

I've known the owner, Bob Cannon, for over 43 years now (as of 2021). We were kids when we first…read moremet. I was nine years old back then and he was eight years old I think (that was way back in 1978). We were neighbors for over 15 years. I don't let anyone else work on my car except Lowder's because I know and trust the owner, Bob, and I know that he will ALWAYS do right by me. He hasn't ever tried to pull a fast one on me (or any of my family or friends) like other mechanics do; he does what's actually needed or what I've asked to be done (IF it's legal of course but NOT if it's something illegal like putting a muffler on a vehicle that doesn't have a catalytic converter on it (or other stuff like that), because that's quite illegal!). He does the right thing, he always has that I know of and I've never heard anyone taking bad about him, EVER --- not even in high school. He's just and simply a great and honest man; and you can trust him. Oh! He WON'T give you some triple the price estimate and try to rip you off either, he's not like that at all. I refer people to go to him at Lowder's Automotive every single time someone is talking about having vehicle problems or the need of a good honest mechanic. He runs the office and front counter now and doesn't get under the cars anymore because he has some great people working for him there. He WON'T put up with a dishonest mechanic working in his shop either. I fully know that he would give them the boot too if they ever tried something like that! They work on lots of types of vehicles there and they're certified & licensed. And you can see the legal certifications and licenses posted there if you'd like to. He is an awesome person to know too. Talk with him awhile if you're wanting to know more about him and his business, I'm sure that he will fill you in on anything that you will need to know. He's been working on cars since we were kids. Oh, and BTW, he is still about Mopar too. Js. I'm a Chevy man myself but I don't hold the fact that he's into Mopar against him. LoL! So if you're into Dodge vehicles, especially big trucks, just bring that up and you're sure to have a nice conversation with him.
