Low quality estaminets, unfriendly, will tow your car. Stay away from these bad boys!

I was told about this place by my uncle. He has done business there for quite awhile and has always been treated well and given great service from Kris. I had a huge problem with my car and didn't know where to take it because I'm on a fixed income and so I have to get the best and reliable service for my car. I was told that my ball joints were bad and needed to be replaced asap to save from having a serious problem. I went to another place who was very kind and helpful too but his estimate was $800.00 and that was a lot of money and I just couldn't afford it. So I was relying on friend to get me around because I was afraid to drive my car for fear of a serious accident. I finally reached out to my uncle and explained what was going on with my car. He said take it to Rick at shaver Road Auto Service and ask for Rick and tell him that I sent you there. So I decided and prayed that I could get there safely and I did. I told him what was going on with my car and showed him the estimate I had gotten from the other service garage. He was very kind and explained everything to me that was going on with the car. He pulled it in and checked it all out and agreed that they definitely needed to be replaced asap. I ask him how much it was going to cost to get the ball joints and other parts that went with them replaced. I was shocked! He said he could do that same exact job for $500.00. I drove my car back home and parked it in the garage again. I called my uncle back and explained everything to him that Rick had told me. Then my uncle said call him back and see how soon he could get my car in for the repairs needed to be done. Rick said he could get it in that week and help me get the job done. I called my uncle back and he helped me out and I was able to get the job done plus he put in a new air filter for me too! The only thing that is bad is there's not a lot of parking places to park your car in but I made it work and in the end got great service at a great price and the work done very quickly too. I would definitely recommend this auto repair shop. Just be prepared to find a parking spot and then you will be good to go. Thank you Rick for all your help and kindness. They won't actually check things and try to diagnose what the actual problem is until it get really bad. Then when you ask them why it took so long for the problem to be diagnosed (over a year), they will give you the run around and make it seem like you're the one making things up and not being honest about what you've asked to be done. Instead of taking responsibility for not doing what you asked them to do. If you question them then they get hostile, even if it's nice and respectful. They'll tell you one thing and then later, deny that they told you. I've been going to them for a few years and they even came highly recommended by people I trust. But never again will I do business with this company and trust them to work on my vehicle. read more

If you're looking for a local mechanic who is knowledgeable and honest along with reasonable pricing, check out Shaver Road Auto. They are great business people and understand that having a car in the shop is an inconvenience and they are cognoscente of schedule and budget. I really don't know much about cars and have been to shops that try and take advantage of that but I have never felt that way about this shop. Charged in full for a brake job. Did not do it correctly and rudly told me I was to blame. Multiple mechanics saw the work and were blown away by how poorly done it was. They both said whoever did this job shouldn't be allowed to be a mechanic. Wrong bolts and parts were put in as well as incorrectly/unfinished. Absolutely worst mechanic. DONT GO HERE. read more

tl;dr: Had a coolant leak on a road trip, they quoted me 3x a reasonable price. Fixed myself in an hour. I got a coolant leak when I was on a road trip in the winter, and Ryder's just happened to be the closest shop to me that was open. The staff was friendly, and even got me in right away even though they had other jobs in line. The leak is a common issue with GM engines, so I know exactly what it takes to fix it. They quoted me for three hours of labor plus parts (around $325). Knowing how high it was, I called another shop and they quoted me for one hour plus parts. That was not at all unreasonable, but I decided to just got to the local autozone, bought the part (about $12), borrowed the tools, and had the job done in about an hour. I can't help but feel like they were just trying to take advantage of a young couple on a road trip. The only reason I'm giving them two stars is because of how friendly they were. read more

Always great service. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and they're quick to fix any problem with my car. It may take a couple days to get in but that's just because it's a good spot to go. I've left my car there twice for a week while I was on vacation and they had no problem fixing and storing it. After, they'll explain to you what was wrong and the man at the desk even explained to me how it happened. I felt very informed and involved. It's my go to place and I highly recommend it. read more
