I just purchased a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas on May16, 2026 from a dealership in Nunica, MI after driving it home back to Kalamazoo I noticed fluid leaking I thought it was from the radiator because the fluid was clear, 10 days later the check engine light came on saying check my oil level during these ten days I started hearing the brakes squeal. On May 21, 2026, I called Master Mechanics because they specialize in Volkswagen and other European vehicles. They couldn't get it in that day I had to wait until May 27, 2026, because they were booked up and Memorial Day was coming on May 26, 2026, that's when the check engine light came on. I paid 39.95 for them to check out my oil leak issue and I paid 39.95 for them to check out why my brakes was squealing when braking. Well, they said my brakes look fine and that the noise was coming come the belt tensioner. After leaving the shop my brakes were still squealing here and there by the time I get almost home the brakes are squealing more. Well, I had to go into the hospital for a procedure on my heart in two days. I said I will deal with this after my procedure and so I did I called them back and was told to bring it in for a recheck, well the mechanic comes to me outside where I was seating saying it's your brake pads and asks me to get in the vehicle with him while drives so I can show him what I hear while driving so off we go, he says to me I wasn't the mechanic who worked on your vehicle the first time I tell him that the other mechanics said the brakes were fine, so he hears what I was telling him about the brakes squeal noise he says yeah it's definitely your brake pads so we get back to the shop he says to me let me check it out some more so we don't have any more misdiagnose- miscommunications so he takes the vehicle out again with another mechanic in the vehicle with him they get back pull it in the garage, finally he brings the vehicle out and park it I walk over to him, so he's saying he wrote some notes and the men at the counter will be with me shortly eventually I get up to the counter and they guy at the counter says we looked back from when you first brought your vehicle in and we couldn't see the brakes! But it looks like the dealership changed the brake pads but used cheaper ones but yeah it's your brakes pad and we need to scuff your rotors, so I'm livid but I can't afford to get upset or stressed because of my heart failure so know he says and yeah you got another leak going on in the housing area around the oil filter, I paid 493.00 for the belt tensioner that had nothing to do with the squealing noise coming from the brakes because I googled this after I started hearing the squealing noise come back, the fact that I was told they couldn't see my brake issue the first time is insane when they specialize in my brand of vehicle!! I want a refund for that belt tensioner, my trust is out the door with this establishment, not to mention I brought my land rover to them back in the summer of 2024 about some issues I was having with it at that time they were informative and said I needed a new engine and they didn't want to put work into it and charge me for anything because the engine was failing already, which I kind of figured that because my timing chain was making a loud noise at the time. This experience was very irritating; they didn't offer any compensation on their lack concerning my brakes and charging me for something that was not the issue. I had to have my car towed here as they were the only local mechanic that would work on a hybrid car. My mechanic Jeff was upfront and communicated well with me throughout the whole process, the pricing was transparent and cheaper than another mechanic shop, I only paid 1800 while the first shop quoted me 3000. They were very friendly and prompt in returning my car to me, it works great now. Will be returning with any other issues I have with my car. read more

They must have done a good job because the problem was fixed with no need for followup. However, because of the high charges for this service (in my opinion), I would not return to this garage nor would I recommend it to others, unless the amount of money spent does not matter. read more

We got a quote on an exhaust job on a Toyota They said $825 on 1/2 the exhaust , and the other half was a 50/50 chance we needed the rest done. Before it was fixed total $1800. Really this car is like 7 feet long. So we took it to maxim on cork street. Without even telling them about the other estimate $495 out the door. Runs great. So glad we went to maxim repair on cork. We found them via Yelp, corroborated by google reviews, and placed a call to ascertain if this was a place we felt comfortable going to. INDEED. How great is Master Mechanics? Let me count the ways... 1. Need an appointment and they are closed? Book one via their website - you'll get the first available, with confirmation. 2. Welcoming to all. This is a sticking point for me - countless times in my life, I've walked into a car repair shop or dealership and been treated like an idiot because of my gender. NOT HERE. I have felt welcomed more than I ever could have imagined. Jamin is so pleasant and kind - this is truly a business that cares about each and every customer. Add in Hank, an older, friendly dog that is quiet and welcoming, and you feel as if you are walking into a friend's house. 3. Clean! Most car repair shops are less than clean, with grimy waiting rooms (for the smaller chains) and impersonal echo chambers (dealerships). Master Mechanics is not only clean, but... 4. Beautiful. The interior of this shop is beautifully designed, with comfortable leather seating (thank you, Jamin's wife). There's also a Keurig if you're thirsty. The kids' play area has matchbox cars (smart!), and there are all kinds of intriguing car-related signs on the walls. This feels more like a stylish living room than a waiting room at your mechanic's. 5. Cost. Master Mechanics's prices are incredibly fair. For example, we were told that we needed to replace all 4 brakes and rotors on our Volvo, at Monro Muffler Brake & Service on Stadium - they quoted us a price of $1,300. First, Jamin told us that only the front brakes actually needed to be replaced, and he could do them for $310 - saving us almost $1,000. THANK YOU. Which leads to... 6. Service! Jamin is not going to try to find problems that aren't there to increase your bill, which is the true definition of an honest mechanic. We've since had other work done at Master Mechanics, and unlike other mechanics who may take care of you the first time you come around, gain your trust, and then gouge you from that point forward (can you tell we have experienced this?), Jamin went out of his way to find the best price on parts - TWICE. His labor costs are fair, and they work quickly to get your car fixed - which also keeps the price down. Again, we really appreciate that. Jamin keeps a clear line of communication open throughout the process. Master Mechanics works on both imports and domestic cars, from something as small as an oil change to major repairs. Took a vehicle in for an out change now all of a sudden leaking brake fluid. Had no brake fluid leakage before coming to this trash garage and they want to charge $600 for the brake leakage....
