I had been going to this location for oil changes for at least a couple decades if not longer, but hadn't had an oil change in quite a while due to lack of travel during the pandemic and then purchasing an electric vehicle. When I called to make an appointment to bring in our camper van for an oil change, a voice I hadn't heard before answered the phone, and I was surprised to hear someone besides the manager, Ken's voice since I'm fairly sure he was the only one to ever answer when I called in the last 15 or so years. The person I spoke with said that they can't service my vehicle because their large vehicle lift is broken so they can't service trucks and vans currently. He said he couldn't give an estimate for when they would be repairing that bay, and recommended a different Midas location for me to reach out to. And a case of what a small world it is in Kalamazoo, I wound up running into Ken at Sam's Club later that same day and he let me know that they had fired him after 15 years of service. Midas corporate made a huge mistake letting go this incredible manager, and I will be taking my business to the place where he is now employed. I have never had anything but incredible experiences with the customer service Ken and his team provided, and he really set the tone of professionalism for the business that was mirrored by everyone on his team. They were always prompt, professional, welcoming, and informative without being pushy. He had my complete trust, which is often hard for a woman to find in a mechanic. The three star review is an amalgamation of the many many five-star experiences I have had at this business and the absolute absence of stars I feel for the corporate office who let go such a stellar employee. read more

just went In for the 39.99 special that I set the appointment for last night. when I get there they tell me that special is no longer valid and yet they honored it for the person right in front of me. Super friendly people. They really did everything they could to make sure everything was good and well with my car before I left. I got an oil change and an alignment and while oil changes are pretty easy the alignment process takes time and even though I had to wait longer than I would have liked, the manager made it a nice experience. He was super personable. My only gripe would be that the mechanic left my car a little messy because of the oil grease on his hands but I'll take having to do a quick wipe down for a well running car any day. Would definitely recommend to others! read more

This place was awful. I scheduled an hour long oil, change a week and a half in advance. It's crazy and even takes an hour to do an oil change. I show off, and they had forgotten to put me on the schedule. I waited around 15 minutes, and then wired into how much longer it would be. They said it would be another hour and 20 minutes before my car was done. The service here is horrendous, do not take your car here! read more

Scheduled an appointment to take advantage of their $24.99 Road Trip Ready package, told them I was after that special - and when I walked in at my scheduled time - NOPE! No conventional oil and only semi or full synthetic oil are available at $60 plus. It would have been really nice to have told me that before I spent my time and gas to make the trip. Started going to the Westnedge Midas location after Allen's Automotive Service closed. After my husband passed away I took my SUV in for an oil change. I asked for Ken, who we had always worked with, but he was no longer working there. The service people knew my husband had passed. I thought it was a little pricier but okay. When I was checking out, I was told I needed 4 new tires to the tune of minimum $800. Now, I bought my car in 2020 and it had new tires at that time. I put less than 10,000 miles on the vehicle in 3 years. Heard of the little ole lady that only drives to church on Sunday? Well, that's basically me. Anyway, I had an OTR truck driver friend check and he said I didn't need new tires. I stopped in to a well known tire only sales store and the gentleman said I didn't need tires at this time. Given the miles I drive, could be over a year. So, I went back to Midas and the manager argued with me and said these two people didn't know what they were talking about and needed to educate (not quite that nice) themselves and Google the Michigan Law regarding tires. So, I asked why a tire only store would turn down a sale of new tires if I needed them. He had no response other than they didn't know the law. I asked if he minded if I relayed that information to the tire only store and he didn't respond. He was condescending, being a jerk and I promptly told him he was taking advantage of a single, gray haired little ole lady and I would not be back and he just walked away. When my muffler came loose and I had to tie it up with the drawstring from my sweatshirt I was overly satisfied with the service from this Midas location. It was wet and sleeting and cold and they had me fixed up in 10 minutes back on the road. It cost way less than I thought and all the employees were pleasant and seemed to genuinely enjoy what they do. Went here simply for an oil change. Was one of the first appointments in the morning. Took them a full hour and a half only for them to get the inside of my car covered in oil, have me pay one of the most expensive oil changes I've ever seen and not even three weeks later my car completely ran out of oil. Thankfully they fixed the problem, but still waiting to see if it did any damage. Nice people but didn't check their work which almost ruined my car. read more

I set up an appointment for 11:00 a.m. for an alignment at Midas a week ahead since I was going to be in Portage. I arrived at 10:45 a.m. and saw them pulling in vehicle in the alignment bay. I went inside to register my arrival. I was told to leave my vehicle and come back in a couple of hours. I explained I lived 30 miles away and couldn't do that. Was told the lobby was not open to wait in. I had not been told about "dropping off" my car, nor that the lobby was closed when I set up the appointment. I said I would wait in my car. Was told they would get me in as soon as they were done with the vehicle they had just pulled in. Waited in my car until 11:47 a.m. Called from my cell phone and said since it was 45 minutes past my appointment, they had obviously overbooked, I was leaving, and would find someone else to do the alignment. A couple weeks ago my turn signal wasnt working correctly so I stopped in at Midas. I was taken care of very quickly and told the bulb was loose and the mechanic just pushed it back in. There was no charge for this. A couple days later, the signal went out again so I returned to Midas to get a replacement this time. Again I was taken care of quickly. A new bulb was put in and again NO CHARGE since I had to return because it wasn't fixed correctly the first time. I have a lake house nearby and from out of town so was prepared to pay whatever was asked. I was told just to come back when I need some repair work. I definitely will do that. It was so nice to find a reputable auto repair place in an unfamiliar location. This place is the best. read more

Found and fixed a Wheel Bearing on my Ford Explorer that was about to fall off, that another Auto Repair shop and even a Dealership missed. Now Explorer Drives Awesome again. I made an appointment online and Ken had a bay ready for me when I arrived. He was very understanding about my request to raise the car on the wheels and not the body. I was anxious about choosing a service center to replace my muffler, but I feel that I made the right choice. No upselling and no pressure to do more than I requested. My entire experience here was deplorable. First I was told that my car only took semi-synthetic oil even though I found out later that I have always used conventional. I have a strong notion that he only did this because I was a woman going in there alone. Then, after making me pay extra for oil that I did not need, they did not put the cap back on my oil chamber and oil leaked all over my engine. My car reeked of a gas like smell and the engine sounded much louder than it should. Thankfully we checked under the hood early and put the cap back on ourselves. The manager told me that his employees leaving the cap off "tends to happen." I will credit them that they tried to make it right by giving me a refund, but the manager took 20 minutes trying to figure out how to do that. While he was on the phone with multiple people he was visibly frustrated, which is understandable, but then started using derogatory comments such as, "this is retarded" which I found extremely offensive and should not be said in front of a customer, or at all for that matter. I would not trust this shop and I encourage anyone to look elsewhere. read more
