Me and my family came in Saturday morning and were greeted immediately by the hostess with a smile. We were promptly seated in Hannah's section. She gave excellent service, answering all our questions and provided great recommendations. She suggested the chicken and grits and they were delicious. Thank you Hannah! read more

We really wanted to eat at Goodfolks but after 3 employees walked right past us saying someone would be right with us nobody came to seat us. After standing at the reception station for over 5 minutes we left. Will not be back anytime soon. There are too many other great restaurants that provide better service. read more

Dinner was delicious, the restaurant is beautiful, the ambiance is laid back, and the service was amazing. We will be back!

After eating here I can confidently say this is the worst experience I have had in Georgetown, the food was incredibly bland and although inspired it was horribly executed. There were about ten customers in the restaurant and the large majority of them ordered the fried chicken (I believe that is what they're famous for) I wish I had tried it, because the service was so bad I would never go again. We were never asked for a drink order, and we were regularly passed by by the servers who didn't refill our small water cups we got when we were seated. The ambiance was cool, but it hardly mattered in comparison to waiting for 15 minutes to leave after we finished eating, 3 of which we had to stare at our disgusting plates before they were taken back. The only fun I have had today was from roasting this restaurant with my mother on the way home from it. read more

I've been here numerous times and there have been some hits and misses but the last couple of times I was here the food has been great, and the drinks are always top-notch! The chicken knochi and biscuits are delicious. The old fashioned is excellent! read more

Very friendly staff. Clean, great atmosphere. Unfortunately the chicken and waffles were a mixed bag. The tenders were amazing but the waffles were limp and looked like eggo frozen waffles. Not the good stuff I was expecting. The truffle Mac and cheese didn't really taste truffly so I question the $8 price tag for a small cup. But not bad. The salad was decent if a little small portion sized. The chicken and dumpling soup was decent as well. Wouldn't order these again but willing to try the place out for the other dishes. read more

The good: Food was fine. Decent portions. Wish the menu was a little bigger, seems fried chicken is the specialty of the house. My and my BFF had the chicken fried NY Strip; solid. The mashed taters were great. SWMBO had the burger, bit salty but tasty. My SIL had the buffalo gnocchi(interesting twist on the idea); chicken was very well done. Andouille lollipops were yummy. Biscuits were very good too. Drinks were fine. The bad: Service was just ok. We went on a Friday. Had reservations at 645. We arrived very early so expected a wait. The two hostesses seemed to ignore us once my wife checked us in. I had to go check in again and we were seated promptly. Our server was nice and personable but didn't seem to really put an emphasis on staying busy. I noticed lots of talking with other staff going on, to include an apparent manager. I'm sure some of it was due to an overall very young staff. The majority seemed to be 18-21. Maybe they were understaffed too. I didn't expect a 5* level of service but I got something closer to Chili's. The place is setup to be much better than that. I'd go back, not sure SWMBO would. read more

Yummy food, good atmosphere! The staff were really friendly and the food didn't take too long to arrive. Such a cute place.

Tried this place for the first time on a Tuesday lunch rush and was so happy we did! First they have happy hour on tuesdays all day long which include drinks and certain apps. The food menu is small but specific in comfort items and big flavors. I went with the Southern comfort burger and I ate ever bite. It came it bacon jam, fried jalepenos and sweet peaches w a bleu cheese fondue. I'm most definitely not a fan of bleu cheese but it is a very subtle flavor and does not have the smell or extra tang like usual bleu cheese. It was a surprisingly delicious flavor combo on a greatly made burger. My friend got the tender basket w fries and again all delicious and very fresh. We saw several plates walking past and it looks like big portions is the aim with quality ingredients. I can't wait to return. It's beautiful inside with white and black accents and an upstairs or downstairs option for seating. It's definitely worth checking out. read more

Food was great. The biscuits were amazing! The honey butter that comes with the biscuits is so delicious. I got the country fried steak - seasoned well and the mashed potatoes were pretty good. I'll be back. read more

C'mon now, y'all are sending out raw ground beef burgers for $20 dollars on delivery? I cook all the time and can easily tell you the beef inside my 8oz burger was the same thing as raw ground beef from the grocer except you seared it on both sides for 20 seconds. WTF. I had to turn on my grill and cook it for about 5 minutes or so to get it to mid rare like I ordered it. read more

Service was outrageously poor. Never seen it take so long to bus a table. Never seen a staff so bewildered by simple requests and just flat out rude to customers. I waited a long time to even be greeted after being sat at a table. Even more time to be asked for my order. Seemingly water provided only upon request. The restaurant was not busy. Food ended up being fine - nothing special, nothing terrible. But the service was so awful, it's worth avoiding and trying one of the many other restaurants on this block. If 0 was an option for reviews, I'd have given that. read more

I really like the ambience here and the service is good. The food is, for me, decent but not amazing. And I feel like the prices are a bit high for what you get. Also, the drinks are weak and not very tasty. read more

Awesome place, I love the mashed potatoes and they have gluten free fried chicken. Yummy!

This place was freezing on the inside and everyone had coats on. The waitress Kim seemed a bit off and didnt regularly tend to me an my daughter. The atmosphere was cold and the man at the front acted like we was a bother. The food was very mid and there wasnt anything to write about that was strong as everyone elses. My daughter got the fried chicken an it was ..... well different. Mashed potatoes was good. Because of it being freezing i orderes coffee. Guess what. Cold. I asked it there was regular sugar and Kim points out like i was an idiot an says "this eco brown cane sugar IS regular sugar." I clearly meant regular white sugar. The chicken biscuit soup was alright but nothing to brag abt. I got the chicken verde and wasnt impressed. Needless to say i boxed it up and threw it away. Best thing i ordered there was the fried pickles and sauce. Wont be back so no worries. Not southern nor comfort. read more

They are fairly new compared to other restaurants. Very tasty! They are pricey $$. read more

This was our first time to visit Goodfolks and I say truthfully, it will not be our last. We were seated right away upstairs, which we really appreciated because we could see the entire restaurant and it was a little more private, which was great because it was our anniversary. Max was our server, and he was great and very knowledgeable about the restaurant and the menu, and we enjoyed his conversation and service! Job well done Max! We started out with the cornmeal crusted catfish bites with the jalapeño remoulade and the honey sriracha Brussels sprouts. Both were hot and fresh and delicious! We both ordered a Caesar salad, that was the best Caesar salad I've ever had! We should have stopped ordering there but this restaurant is known for their chicken so we had to try it and so glad we did! It's very good! I ordered the chicken tenders with the truffle Mac & cheese and hubby ordered the bone in 2 piece chicken with mashed potatoes. Everything was so good and hot and fresh! We highly recommend this restaurant. We'll be back! Thank you Goodfolks! read more

My sister took me to this place on a Wednesday night. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. I have a serious gluten allergy so it's not easy to find restaurants that offer gluten free foods that are shall I say --- delicious? Being able to enjoy a classic burger with all the toppings and a soft, toasted delicious buns!!! Usually the bread/buns are tough when it comes to gluten free options but everything here including the buns were as if the way buns are supposed to be. Service is great and they check up on you regularly. Many of the options on the menu can be made gluten free so ask the server. Great, easy going ambiance in downtown Georgetown. Thanks for great food and service. read more

Read the fine print before you dine here. We were charged $2 because I asked for no bleu cheese on my salad, on top of a 3% restaurant fee for 3 people. I assume these charges are printed on the menu somewhere but I, like many others probably, don't read an entire menu like a novel cover to cover. Also saw the manager grab a server's chest in passing (in front of our toddler). Less than professional if you ask me, especially for somewhere thinking they are bougie enough for so many extra charges. read more

I had a very small chicken breast over a bed of rice with some undercooked (and utterly inedible) sweet potatoes and about 1/8 cup of "veggies" which were hard to discern within the rice.... How much? $19.00 WOW! Wayyyyy, too much! Very unimpressive. Inside this establishment it's nice and the staff are nice. But, when you can get away with charging $19 for a tiny 4 oz piece of chicken, something's wrong. read more

While I have dined at this restaurant almost exactly 1 year ago, I had rave reviews to anyone who would listen. I brought my family in tonight, excitedly leaving CA for comfort classics TX has to offer. Tonight was not that. Embarrassingly in front of my family, our server came off apparently inebriated and unable to communicate with our table drink orders. My mother ordered a vodka cranberry, to receive what is featured in the photo posted below. The server also needed to leave the table in order to "get a pen" because we were too complicated. We ordered the Brussel sprouts which were the only saving grace to this meal as an app. My father opted for the "plantain soup" that our server failed to communicate what it actually was. Granted also very tasty. As dining here previously, also a chef, I asked about the head chef and sous chef who were working to give proper accolades and thanks to. The server proceeded to lambast the back of house and go into her own personal complaints. No customer should hear that. Once our food arrived (shrimp and bacon pasta, andouille lollipops, and shrimp and grits) that's when the disappointment fully set in. The pasta was underseasoned and under done, the lollipops seemed to have been as decent as bacon and sausage could be, but the shrimp and grits were so oily that they were rendered inedible. I called over for a manager to understand that the kitchen needed to be spoken to about greasy and split grits, and I was answered "well what did you expect?" Honestly I expected to eat more than a third of my meal. I expected to have a quality product for the price asked. I also expect that I will never make this recommendation again. read more

Cute place on the corner of the town square. Food and Service was great. Fell in love with the Blackened Shrimp pasta dish. It was light. A little creamy and little sweet from the bacon jam, and a little cheesy from the Parmesan cheese flakes. read more

We stopped in last night, there was a bit of a wait. No big deal. We were sat at a tiny little table in the middle of the way it felt like. We only stayed for a drink and some queso because of it. The drink and queso was really good. Our server was nice. The issue was the space. We felt like we were eating on a crowded bus. I get making the most of space but the chairs are uncomfortable the table was tiny and I just felt uncomfortable. We're not big people either! I'm a small person so I can't imagine how a regular sized person would feel. lol! The lighting could be a little dimmer during dinner time too. read more

Goodfolks on square in Georgetown opened in 2021 and is here to stay. It was quite a busy night and luckily we got there before the rush. They have great home cookin flavors. I'm really disappointed with my experience here. We waited for over an hour for our food, and despite being told multiple times by management that it was "being plated," it never arrived. At first, we tried to stay patient, but after more than an hour with no food and no real updates, we decided to leave. It's frustrating to spend that much time waiting with no communication or explanation. I won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Have been a couple times and the Buffalo chicken gnocchi is definitely my favorite! I wouldn't expect the combo to go together well but it did - so well. The service was quick and friendly and ambiance is cool, complete with an upstairs section that looked over the bottom. Great location right on the square. Expect to spend $15+ per plate but worth it. read more

I had such high hopes after seeing the reviews, but our experience (as well as other tables that night) was pretty terrible. It was a very busy night when we went, so we got on the waiting list and waited about 45 minutes. Once we were seated, it took a very long time for our waiter to head to our table. It took an equally long time for us to receive our drinks. The drink glasses were very small and I thought what a hassle it was going to be for the waiter to have to continuously fill those up. Little did I know that we would just sit there thirsty the entire night. For some reason, our food order was not taken when our drinks arrived and we had to wait an even longer amount of time. I feel like we were seated a good solid 30 minutes before we were able to order. When our food finally arrived, one of the orders was incorrect completely and so that individual had to wait even more time. The two piece fried chicken basket was missing one of the pieces. It was finally brought out 20 minutes later when we were done eating and ready to leave. I happened to notice several tables around us with equally dissatisfied patrons. With the extreme backlog and slow service, you would think it would be all hands on deck. However, there were three hostesses just standing around while the entire restaurant was failing. The taste of the food was beyond disappointing. The queso appetizer was actually pretty decent. Their fried chicken was burnt and tasted horrible. There was no flavor or seasoning, just disgusting burnt fried chicken. The mashed potatoes were extremely bland and dry. The gravy was dry, clumpy, and way too sweet. The other sides, coleslaw, rice, potato wedges (they call them fries, which is very misleading), were all okay. I love downtown Georgetown, and was so very excited to try out this extremely cute place. But the service and food leaves me very wary of ever returning again. read more

Good food nice atmosphere. Staff is very nice, I would absolutely come back to try more on that great menu.

I moved here 4 months ago and we finally got to experience downtown Georgetown area. It was a beautiful place, but we were not able to experience it because our waiter left us unattended for 45 minutes after bringing our orders a hot-tea and mimosa. When we decided to pay and leave. the young lady gave my husband the meanest look. We were not even welcomed there and it shown. read more

What an absolute delight! The food was fantastic, the ambiance was lovely, and the staff were fantastic. The biscuits and honey butter were not what I expected, but were AMAZING. Very light, and flaky, and the sauces was the perfect blend of sweet and savory with a little salt. I had the friend shrimp special - perfectly cooked so they were still soft and not greasy at all. My friend got the etouffee - he loved it but this cajun girl was underwhelmed. For dessert we got the key lime pie, which was one of the best I've ever tasted, and the cookies. All excellent. The only notes I would have is that the lighting was a bit harsh for a quiet dinner, and that they don't have much/any mocktail menu. Both super minor quibbles, overall a fantastic new option on the square! read more

I've been craving some good fried chicken and not from a franchise food company. I wanted something as close as possible to home cooking. We're at Goodfolks and the place is packed (great for the restaurant). We're seated on the second floor 10 tables, one server. Including us 6 tables were full. We waited about 7 minutes before our server Jessica came to take our beverage order. While she is taking our drinks order she kept looking around at the other tables. Our drinks are brought to us, in the meantime Jessica is going nonstop. It was about another 10 minutes before she took our food order. I knew it would take approximately 20 minutes for the fried chicken to be ready. As we're waiting our water and tea glasses are empty. I saw a manager raised my hand and he brought us refills. As in the pictures you can see the glasses are not tall. It's been 20 minutes and we have our food. It's hot , crunchy but lacks flavor. Im my opinion I think the kitchen could have done a better job of cleaning the chicken (pictured below). In the fork there is a piece that is not chewable and the leg could have been cleaned. I know it can because I do it when I prepare chicken at home. Again this is my opinion and I know other people may disagree with this. On a separate note Jessica gets a good workout going up and down the stairs. read more
