My sister took me to this place on a Wednesday night. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. I have a serious gluten allergy so it's not easy to find restaurants that offer gluten free foods that are shall I say --- delicious? Being able to enjoy a classic burger with all the toppings and a soft, toasted delicious buns!!! Usually the bread/buns are tough when it comes to gluten free options but everything here including the buns were as if the way buns are supposed to be. Service is great and they check up on you regularly. Many of the options on the menu can be made gluten free so ask the server. Great, easy going ambiance in downtown Georgetown. While I have dined at this restaurant almost exactly 1 year ago, I had rave reviews to anyone who would listen. I brought my family in tonight, excitedly leaving CA for comfort classics TX has to offer. Tonight was not that. Embarrassingly in front of my family, our server came off apparently inebriated and unable to communicate with our table drink orders. My mother ordered a vodka cranberry, to receive what is featured in the photo posted below. The server also needed to leave the table in order to "get a pen" because we were too complicated. We ordered the Brussel sprouts which were the only saving grace to this meal as an app. My father opted for the "plantain soup" that our server failed to communicate what it actually was. Granted also very tasty. As dining here previously, also a chef, I asked about the head chef and sous chef who were working to give proper accolades and thanks to. The server proceeded to lambast the back of house and go into her own personal complaints. No customer should hear that. Once our food arrived (shrimp and bacon pasta, andouille lollipops, and shrimp and grits) that's when the disappointment fully set in. The pasta was underseasoned and under done, the lollipops seemed to have been as decent as bacon and sausage could be, but the shrimp and grits were so oily that they were rendered inedible. I called over for a manager to understand that the kitchen needed to be spoken to about greasy and split grits, and I was answered "well what did you expect?" Honestly I expected to eat more than a third of my meal. I expected to have a quality product for the price asked. I also expect that I will never make this recommendation again. read more

We stopped in last night, there was a bit of a wait. No big deal. We were sat at a tiny little table in the middle of the way it felt like. We only stayed for a drink and some queso because of it. The drink and queso was really good. Our server was nice. The issue was the space. We felt like we were eating on a crowded bus. I get making the most of space but the chairs are uncomfortable the table was tiny and I just felt uncomfortable. We're not big people either! The service was not great. Our waitress spoke few words if at all when talking to us. Additionally, she never asked how our meal were. The food was unpleasant. We ordered the sharpshooter salad, patty melt, chicken tenders, and Cesar salad. The chicken was extremely salty, sandwich was bland, and overall the meal was just ok. Our drinks only got one refill in the span of an hour, and we were waiting at least 10 minutes with empty cups. When we received the check a 20% gratuity tip was added for a "large party" (there were four of us, the size of an average family). Overall, would not recommend. read more

This was our first time to visit Goodfolks and I say truthfully, it will not be our last. We were seated right away upstairs, which we really appreciated because we could see the entire restaurant and it was a little more private, which was great because it was our anniversary. Max was our server, and he was great and very knowledgeable about the restaurant and the menu, and we enjoyed his conversation and service! Job well done Max! We started out with the cornmeal crusted catfish bites with the jalapeño remoulade and the honey sriracha Brussels sprouts. Both were hot and fresh and delicious! We both ordered a Caesar salad, that was the best Caesar salad I've ever had! We should have stopped ordering there but this restaurant is known for their chicken so we had to try it and so glad we did! It's very good! I ordered the chicken tenders with the truffle Mac & cheese and hubby ordered the bone in 2 piece chicken with mashed potatoes. Everything was so good and hot and fresh! Have been a couple times and the Buffalo chicken gnocchi is definitely my favorite! I wouldn't expect the combo to go together well but it did - so well. The service was quick and friendly and ambiance is cool, complete with an upstairs section that looked over the bottom. Great location right on the square. Goodfolks on square in Georgetown opened in 2021 and is here to stay. It was quite a busy night and luckily we got there before the rush. They have great home cookin flavors. I had such high hopes after seeing the reviews, but our experience (as well as other tables that night) was pretty terrible. It was a very busy night when we went, so we got on the waiting list and waited about 45 minutes. Once we were seated, it took a very long time for our waiter to head to our table. It took an equally long time for us to receive our drinks. The drink glasses were very small and I thought what a hassle it was going to be for the waiter to have to continuously fill those up. Little did I know that we would just sit there thirsty the entire night. For some reason, our food order was not taken when our drinks arrived and we had to wait an even longer amount of time. I feel like we were seated a good solid 30 minutes before we were able to order. When our food finally arrived, one of the orders was incorrect completely and so that individual had to wait even more time. The two piece fried chicken basket was missing one of the pieces. It was finally brought out 20 minutes later when we were done eating and ready to leave. I happened to notice several tables around us with equally dissatisfied patrons. With the extreme backlog and slow service, you would think it would be all hands on deck. However, there were three hostesses just standing around while the entire restaurant was failing. The taste of the food was beyond disappointing. The queso appetizer was actually pretty decent. Their fried chicken was burnt and tasted horrible. There was no flavor or seasoning, just disgusting burnt fried chicken. The mashed potatoes were extremely bland and dry. The gravy was dry, clumpy, and way too sweet. The other sides, coleslaw, rice, potato wedges (they call them fries, which is very misleading), were all okay. I love downtown Georgetown, and was so very excited to try out this extremely cute place. But the service and food leaves me very wary of ever returning again. read more

What an absolute delight! The food was fantastic, the ambiance was lovely, and the staff were fantastic. The biscuits and honey butter were not what I expected, but were AMAZING. Very light, and flaky, and the sauces was the perfect blend of sweet and savory with a little salt. I had the friend shrimp special - perfectly cooked so they were still soft and not greasy at all. My friend got the etouffee - he loved it but this cajun girl was underwhelmed. For dessert we got the key lime pie, which was one of the best I've ever tasted, and the cookies. All excellent. The only notes I would have is that the lighting was a bit harsh for a quiet dinner, and that they don't have much/any mocktail menu. I've been craving some good fried chicken and not from a franchise food company. I wanted something as close as possible to home cooking. We're at Goodfolks and the place is packed (great for the restaurant). We're seated on the second floor 10 tables, one server. Including us 6 tables were full. We waited about 7 minutes before our server Jessica came to take our beverage order. While she is taking our drinks order she kept looking around at the other tables. Our drinks are brought to us, in the meantime Jessica is going nonstop. It was about another 10 minutes before she took our food order. I knew it would take approximately 20 minutes for the fried chicken to be ready. As we're waiting our water and tea glasses are empty. I saw a manager raised my hand and he brought us refills. As in the pictures you can see the glasses are not tall. It's been 20 minutes and we have our food. It's hot , crunchy but lacks flavor. Im my opinion I think the kitchen could have done a better job of cleaning the chicken (pictured below). In the fork there is a piece that is not chewable and the leg could have been cleaned. I know it can because I do it when I prepare chicken at home. Again this is my opinion and I know other people may disagree with this.
