I was really looking forward to a nice breakfast while my girlfriend and granddaughter went horseback riding. Everything started out fine. Nice people, strike up conversation with people in line. Received my wrap and they had added spinach which I said to delete. I actually think they gave me the wrong one. The young cook said he would make a new one, girl checking everyone in said she would bring it out to me. A few minutes later the cook came out slapped my $20 bill on the surf board table and said, "my boss said I don't have to remake it." I walked back to talk to the boss he basically said he didn't have time, the line was long, and that was just the way it was. I didn't make a scene, walked away shaking my head. I've been coming to door County since I was a kid, I'm 69 now, I must admit I've never had an experience like this. read more

Good Eggs is a restaurant in rustic Door County that slings up a limited but incredibly delicious menu. You can get three variations of breakfast burrito. This was the best breakfast burrito I've ever eaten and I grew up in Southern California. Everything is perfect: the vegetables, sausage, eggs, salsa, green onions, just everything. The food is so good it overcomes the restaurant's negatives: bizarre outdoor decorations, cash only, and long wait lines. Overall 5/5 for the best breakfast burrito. Try the goat cheese. The burritos are absolutely delicious and I love all the different combinations. I was a little uneasy by the price at first but they are very filling and you could almost make 2 meals out of them. The reason I cannot give 5 stars is due to the wait time. We pulled up and we found we had to download their app. I placed my order and it wasnt until talking to another customer we realized that the wait time was sent to our email and that it would be over an hour. I wish I would have known that prior to placing our order. It was late morning on a weekday and I couldn't believe it would take that long. We have tried to eat here in prior visits but it left me having a real hard time being a bigger person and actually giving good Eggs my business. Last fall we planned to stop on our way out of town and to our disappointment upon walking in the owner said "We are closed as he is making burritos for other customers and the door sign Clearly states they are open 3 more hours till 2 pm it was 10:30am. I was extremely disappointed as now i have a packed car with a dog and ready to drive us the 4.5 ride home starving?? Thought it would be perfect to eat on the way. The owner was obviously tired and worn out but also extremely rude at I guess my look of disappointment after he said we are closed he then said Ya i know it sucks im not making u breakfast regardless the holiday weekend and you think that sucks i know but you know what sucks is working your ass off and having little help to do it and everyone coming in wanting an order. Then I have to cook for them and im tired too tired to make one more burrito so Sorry. Im closing now ... meanwhile i didn't have a chance to ever respond but I did say i wish there would have been a sign on the door with the adjusted hours. his resppnse was IDont really care what you wish Im exhausted and closing early as of now. you dont get what its like to be this exhausted. I WAS ALMOST in tears he ripped me apart SO MUCH. This year when my husband wanted to go to Good Eggs, I really had a hard time supporting his decision, and it was only if we could take home. I didn't walk in the restaurant for fear the owner was there.... I've seen him once he would not recognized me I know but I def would have recognized him. I left with such a bad feeling that first time that I didn't go anywhere near the restaurant before this. So now we have had Good Eggs. I pre-ordered and we arrived 20 minutes before the time it was supposed to be done and it was done so of course my thought was if I came in 20 minutes how dried out will it be but regardless it was fresh when we got it and we didn't have to wait I dont know what the hype is this was really is nothing more than a breakfast burrito there's nothing special about it putting eggs and cheese in a tortilla can be done at home and certainly not worth waiting in line for or paying the price. If you haven't been its worth a one time visit just to have gone to Good Eggs but pray the owner has good help and has not has a busy 2 days prior. We ordered breakfast burritos from our phones and were able to pick up an hour later (busy Friday morning so they were a little backed up). The burritos were amazing! Food - great. We loved our burrito. Did we love it enough to wait 30 minutes for it - no. The process was just too slow. I understand that the family of 8 in front of us were not too swift but I have to imagine they deal with that a lot. I started coming here on vacation so many years ago and for the last two years it's been closed. This year my luck changed and we hit the jackpot once again. Their egg burritos have to be the best in the upper Midwest. I didn't get the meat option but I'm not sure how any more could have been stuffed in with all the eggs, cheese and perfectly cooked veggies. Absolutely delicious. Don't forget the salsa! The chef and the staff could not have been nicer. It was an experience just watching him cook for 6 people at the same time he was keeping us all entertained. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Heard great things about the place, but never wound up getting my food and just left because the person taking the order was such a jerk that I was astounded by it. If you want to be insulted and be given an attitude over asking how long the wait time is, then this is your place. Maybe the foods good and maybe the owner/manager guy (at least he claimed he was) was just having a bad day, but even on bad days I've never treated someone like he treated me. So best of luck to you, but my business is forever lost. First bad review I'm ever leaving for anyone place in Door County too. In fact just yesterday I went to Grasse's and absolutely loved them and gave them a big tip even for just pick up, I want to support the good spots during pandemic issues. What is taking so long to make a burrito? Service There were about 8 ppl in line and it took them over an hour to get to us and get the food. It was a simple egg burrito. Everyone standing in line was chatting about what's taking them so long. some people showed up and walked away after they realized how long it was taking. Given that there is no good place to sit down no one liked having to stand in line forever. Quality lots of veggies and overall I liked it but not my bf. We both ordered spicy deluxe meat wrap. This place is the perfect example of what a restaurant should be. They do ONE thing (breakfast burrito) and they do it REALLY fricken well. A UW-Madison alum is the owner and he is passionate about making a quality breakfast burrito. We got here at 8am on a Saturday and got to interact with him, and hear about the process of making the perfect breakfast burrito. Fresh ingredients, and cheesy gooey happiness. As he described to us, he makes an omelette to order than wraps it in a tortilla to make it portable. There's a surprising number of options between cheese varieties, and tortilla types. The place looks a bit sketchy on a rainy day, but in that awesome this food is going to change your life sort of way. They have a fun Cali surf shack vibe, and have no frills. Plain coffee with cream and sugar, and on some days there are baked goods (today was not that day). We watched people come in and become offput by the lack of options... don't be those people. Good Eggs is awesome. Simple menu, its made for you right there and you can eat your meal on a surfboard. In Door County, Wisconsin. How cool is that? My s/o and I have gone there the two times we've spent in Door Cty. and there is absolutely no reason we would not go there other than we were farther away than was practical to drive. What's cool is that the owner and his s/o run the place out of what amounts to a small 15x20-ish converted cabin, you get your OJ or coffee or tea, and then you can get muffins, scones, a smoothie or breakfast wrap in...eh...for lack of memory, small, standard, and large (the difference is that you can get eggs & meat, eggs & veggies, eggs & veggies & meat.) Its cooked up in front of you on the small grill, then you can opt for cheese, black beans, diced red potatoes or hot sauce (that you get to add to your taste,) and then it gets wrapped nice and tight. That in itself is enough to fill you up for a few hours at the least. And while you are waiting, you can either chat it up or read one of the issues of National Geographic lying around. This time when my s/o and I were eating out back, their dog (Jack, I believe,) nudged his frisbee towards us indicating that he wanted to play. So we did. The best breakfast burrito I've ever had in my life! This place is a "must". The deluxe wrap has so much food in it, but you can truly taste each different flavor in it with each bite. Eggs, cheese, bacon, peppers, onions, spinach, black bean salsa, potatoes. Wow. The owner is super awesome, down to earth, and funny. Not bad. Food-wise, the breakfast burritos are pretty good- we got the supreme w/eggs, spinach, cheese, the whole shebang. I feel it's a bit overpriced for the size though. Taking off stars for a few reasons. I felt the staff was kinda rude- didn't even smile at us once the whole time we were there and it wasn't busy when we walked in. The bathroom was pretty gross and it just made me wonder if they've ever cleaned the toilet. And the space is small. It gets really cramped during the colder seasons. I've been here many times over the years and it still bothers me that it took so long to get through the line. Went there a couple days ago when there wasn't a line. It still room at least 25 minutes to get through the whole process. Even worse, I haven't seen any attempt over the years to fix this problem. Ordering online won't help either, so don't bother. We ordered on their website via yelp. After I ordered it told me 34 mins to pickup. I had read another review that said over an hour, so I planned ahead and placed the order while still at the apt. By the time we got the car packed up and drove there the food was ready. Definitely order ahead. There was only one table to sit at so we took our burritos down to the park across from Wilson's to sit and eat. The burritos come wrapped in paper and foil so they stayed warm..actually my first bite was very very hot. My husband and I were fortunate enough to have spent some time in beautiful Door County while we were stationed at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. Good Eggs was located two doors down from our hotel (Bay Breeze). We stopped by for an early breakfast and it was tasty, huge and filling. I had the deluxe with bacon, my breakfast mate had a veggie burrito. Lots of tasty veggies in both, good cheese choices (we had goat cheese in one and pepper jack in the other). The burritos are huge filled with eggs, veggies, potatoes (they call them spuds) and a choice of hot sauces. There was also a choice of tortillas (flour, spinach or chipotle). Unlike many places that bulk up on the potatoes, this place focuses on the veggies and meat. I even got a huge chocolate milk for $2. A great filling way to start the day. read more
