Fresh guacamole was delicious.
Amy C.

Came here for a family gathering, birthday party. The food was good loved the fish tacos, we had a catered table all the food was good, the service was good. Serves were always available, only thing it's a little to small we had around 50 people in our party and it was to close for comfort. But we had a great time.

Such a narrow place. Happy to see that this is back. So many good memories from previous location. It's a small place. Food was really good. Drinks were cold. Good customer service.

DISCLAIMER: My review is solely based on the live salsa band and dancing, not the food and drinks The bailarina in me was thriving here! Gonzalez y Gonzalez is a lively Mexican restaurant + bar with a stage and dance floor. It's spacious, but gets extremely packed as the night goes on. It's well decorated with Mexican-themed wall art and neon lighting. It's a great atmosphere for celebrations or a date night, especially if you love to dance and listen to Spanish music. They clear the dining tables at 11pm to make room for a dance floor. They also host free salsa dance lessons and have live salsa bands on select days (mostly the weekends). Check the calendar on their website for the dates! We came here on a Friday night close to midnight. We waited in line for about 15 minutes or so until we got in. Be aware that there's a $20 cover charge (CASH ONLY) and a $3 coat check per item. They are strict about checking in jackets, bags, and hats. It was packed like SARDINES in there, but we still had a great time listening to the live salsa band and dancing the night away! The DJ played the perfect mix of merengue, bachata, reggaeton, and dembow - new and old classics! They have late night hours so you can dance your heart away all night and well into the early morning. CATCH ME ON THE DANCE FLOOR!

Came for dinner after watching NYU game and plus wifey loves Mexican food. Ordered a variety of things - MIL got steak tacos, wifey got a steak burrito, lil man got shrimp empanadas, and I got fried shrimp and calamari. We also got chips and guacamole for the table. Overall food was pretty good. Lil man didn't like his shrimp empanadas though - he said too much vegetables and not enough shrimp. The burrito tasted fine. MIL liked her tacos. And the fried shrimp and calamari was lightly fried and tasted fine. We were seated right away. Had to show ID at the front, which I have never done before anywhere else but was not bothered by it. Inside was dark. Hard to see the plates. Service was good. The waiter made our guacamole table side and it tasted great. The only thing was we had to wait a bit for the waiter to come around to ask for the check. But then again there was maybe two servers working. Overall a pleasant experience. We have not been here in years. And I'm glad that the place is still open.

If you want to get your salsa, bachata and merengue on come after 10 there's a charge at the door but it's worth it. They usually have a live band. I have t ate hear but I've heard good things, the drinks though weren't all that and although they are busy the service is decent . However just for the music and dancing alone it's worth it see you there

I usually always come here to grab a bite to eat with some wine when I'm shopping in soho. Always a nice vibe with good service, I decided to try the tacos this time because I always get the calamari & shrimp. It's delicious!

Came to celebrate a birthday! From the moment you step in, Gonzalez y Gonzalez offers a dynamic experience that seamlessly transitions from a great restaurant to an exciting nightlife spot. The drinks are a standout feature - absolutely amazing and perfectly crafted to complement the delicious food. The culinary offerings are equally impressive, with a menu that delivers great flavors and satisfying dishes. What sets this venue apart is its unique ability to transform as the night progresses. By evening, the restaurant evolves into a lively nightclub, offering patrons a complete entertainment experience. Bring an extra pair of shoes; learned the hard way! Practical amenities enhance the overall experience. The coat check downstairs is a convenient touch, allowing guests to enjoy the evening without worrying about their belongings. An added bonus is the iPhone charger station - a thoughtful feature that shows the venue's attention to customer needs. Had to use it myself. Bathrooms are downstairs and prepare to walk a little. Whether you're looking for a great meal, exceptional drinks, or a fun night out, Gonzalez y Gonzalez New York delivers on all fronts. It's a versatile spot that caters to different moods and moments throughout the evening.

After calling to inquire about their Groupon, I spoke with Stephanie, who was truly a delight! Her energy was EVERYTHING--warm, welcoming, and instantly got us excited for our visit. As a lifelong New Yorker, of course I knew of Gonzalez y Gonzalez, but it had been at least a decade since my last visit. Safe to say, this experience was a great reintroduction. The Groupon was a fantastic deal, including a shared appetizer, two entrées each, one dessert, and four drinks--definitely bang for our buck! We started with the Mezcal Mussels, which came in a flavorful sauce with toasted bread (we immediately wanted more!). For entrées, we had the Chicken Chimichanga and Chuletas Al Pastor, both solid choices. And the churros? Unexpectedly AMAZING! Crispy, warm, and perfectly dusted with cinnamon sugar. For drinks, I had the Spicy Jalapeño Margarita, while my partner went for the Mango Margarita--both hit the spot. As self-proclaimed foodies, while this wasn't the best Mexican food we've ever had, it was undeniably a solid choice for good eats, great value, and an even better vibe. The service was top-notch, with multiple staff members checking in on us from the moment we walked in. Our server, Carlos, was friendly, attentive, and had great recommendations, which really set the tone for a wonderful night. We left just before the salsa dancing started, but it's clearly a longstanding tradition and looks like a fun time--whether you're a seasoned dancer or just there to enjoy the energy. Overall, Gonzalez y Gonzalez delivers neighborhood vibes, solid food, and a memorable night out. We'd absolutely return (maybe for brunch next?!)--and you should too!

Having lived near a sizable Mexican community in Homestead, Florida, I can say that we are accustomed to authentic cuisine. The restaurant's ambiance is quite pleasant, and I really appreciate the location. It is relatively small and compact, which can give the impression of being more crowded than it actually is. We opted for some traditional Mexican dishes based on the patrons present, and while the flavors were quite good, they didn't fully match what we're used to. Nevertheless, we would recommend this place, so be sure to come by for an enjoyable atmosphere.

Lively place and eclectic group of people! We stopped in for dinner but had no idea they would clear the floor and it turn into a dancing floor with a live band- who were AMAZING BY THE WAY! If you're looking for something to do on a Friday or Saturday night, I would definitely swing by this place grab some food and then change your shoes and head out to the dance floor. Great concept!

Came here for a birthday party and had a nice time. For the group, it's $100 per person for open hour, appetizers and one entree (a great deal for the city). The appetizer boards had a little bit of everything (Buffalo wings, potato croquettes, etc) nothing Mexican funny enough. They made fresh Guac in front of you which was nice. The entrees themselves were decently sized and flavorful. I had the enchiladas de mole and they were good but didn't taste like it had much seasoning. The waiters were very attentive and constantly kept our drinks full. I recommend the spicy margs for sure. By 11, the place turns into a Latin night club of sorts - a lot of fun.

Just like most places in LES it gets pretty tight! Food and drinks are okay but it takes a really really really long time to make order cause there's only one or two bartenders for a bar the length of the whole building. It's great for dancing but if you're not there to salsa maybe just don't go, it gets really tight!

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

If you are someone who is looking at an aesthetic place, this is a top contender. Unfortunately, I would say this place is better looking than the food is good. The food was fine, appetizers were all fresh but lacked any real depth in flavor. I wasn't too thrilled with the bone marrow I had either (but the tortillas come in the cutest basket). Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.
