They said they heard this Jay-Z song that normally don't get played anywhere, that what made them enter this bar But when I got there, they were playing some 90s r&b tunes. This place is a hidden gem. It plays the best hip hop music and has a good crowd that comes to drink, dance, and have a good time. There was a little seating area near the dj booth and the dj takes requests. The bartender was not skimpy with the alcohol and he made great drinks and served a fair amount of alcohol. read more

I used to be a regular here. I think I went twice this year. It's the summer so that could change. I used to work in the area and pop in after work and over the years have thrown parties here and rented the room in the back. They have transformed their outdoor space out front so Friday- Sunday it's pretty packed on the corner there. They have DJ in the weekend and decent drinks. This place was cute for a pregame drink. Nothing fancy. Typical bar. Full bar so you can get whatever you want. The bartenders were friendly and it seems like an in-and-out vibe versus an all nighter unless you want a chill bar vibe. There are booths for larger groups and a good amount of standing room. This is one of the sketchiest bars I have ever been to in the East Village or The Lower East Side. I had my phone stolen from me here the other week and apparently one of the bartenders told me this happens all the time here recently. The issue I have with this bar is that it is not consistent. I've been here on two separate occasions and received a polar opposite experience. The first time I came, I was very happy with their happy hour and enjoyed the random mix of crowd there. I like when places draw in a variety of people. The woman I had serving me was very attentive and funny. The drinks are on the small side (they utilize those tiny plastic cups that you could find at dollar tree) which makes sense why they are so cheap. The second time I came in, the bartender basically completely ignored my date and myself. There was a few people there, but by no means was it crowded. After standing there for around 10/15 minutes without even being acknowledged we decided to leave. I'm on the fence with this bar. It's not the worst, but has some issues to work out. 3/5 read more

Over the years I have frequented La Linea as a reliable Place to have fun. I have told several people about I.e. brought the place good business. Tonight, my view has been changed. Initially I went in with my husband for about 10 min. We then went to go get a friend to come back with us to enjoy the vibe. Our friend came in with a hat, in his back pocket. One of the bouncers said he couldn't have it. Our friend said okay that's a lot as it was in his back pocket, but we then proceeded to put it in the car. On our way back in, the bouncer at the door said that we were not allowed back in. No explanation given. We are left to believe that this was either an act of discrimination or an exercise of power and control from one of the bouncers. It was shocking and disappointing to experience this tonight at the expense of our friend. read more

Such a pitty, I came by with a friend this past Friday. I literally had a hat on and a tank top. The Bouncer says nothing about the hat, but apparently Tank tops are not allowed. This was the most discriminating policy I have ever witnessed. FYI it is not an upscale bar, let alone It was a really cute tank top from Uniqlo. If I could give a zero star, I totally would. This place always barely gets a "C" rating. Back in the day they used to be cool, maybe a "B-" but their staff has completely changed. I'd rather go to bOb bar or Lounge 247 just around the corner. The bouncer really feels entitled for some reason, maybe he didn't get hugs growing up. He's a complete virus to that place. He finds every possible way not to let in couples and turns away the men. I seriously don't think that's good for their business. I was bought there one time and I just went along know that place wasn't up to par. Two times I had a hat on my waist because I was wearing throughout the course of the day. This bouncer told me I couldn't get in because my hat was on my waist, Twice. If they don't change their policy or get a new bouncer that business will fail miserably. That place is already ratchet, and they are worrying about a cap, not even a fitted baseball cap. Been coming here for YEARS! The happy hour is great! Happy hour every day until 9PM. Quality drinks for around $5. I've been on the weekend for dancing as well. Really the only downside is that it is pretty small so it can get PACKED. The times I have gone the DJ has been really good. They have a few tables on the outside of the very small dance floor. Bathroom is also very small. The crowd is usually pretty casual. Definitely nothing fancy but usually a good time. read more

Came to a great clothing swap here in the back room. The back room is just great for parties! The bartender Jeremiah was friendly and the music was good. The atmosphere is chill and the bar has a cozy homey feel to it which was comfortable. We almost walked past this spot after coming out of Katra a couple of blocks away. The music sounded really good so we decided to check this place out and I am glad we did. The place has a bar in the beginning and followed by a dance floor and there is a private room at the back. The DJ here is really awesome , he played so many different genres of music right from old school, hip hop, top 40's so in terms of music this place rocks. The dance florr is not huge but it's not small either too. There are tables/ couches on one side of the dance floor to sit down. Meh, I have seen better, but I have also seen much worse. I came here on a Saturday night with a group of friends for a few drinks and to celebrate a friend of a friend's birthday. The decor is kinda late 1990s, with some exposed brick, heavy crimson curtains, and very dark overall. The place is also more narrow than my living room, so lots of sideways walking with your drink in the air and lots of "excuse me, pardon me, thanks, sorry, excuse me" - you know the routine. The music was ok, nothing special. They did have a DJ, though, which is a good thing in my book. The drinks were good and the bartenders were prompt and delivered good service to the crowd around the bar. This is definitely not a "destination" place that that you think about all week before you go, but it isn't bad either. However the only down fall is the service and drinks....sad but true. After already drinking one should not complain but here we are. The drinks were small, weak and over priced, plus the service is sub-par. I can't imagine going here sober...smh...not sure why it would take so long to order then make a drink but it did. I was also the one buying the round so I gave my friend my card to hold a tab. Well you would have thought he asked the bartender for cash back?!?!?
