The vibes here fit the area. We stopped in for a sips while browsin' around town. Because of the location, it's hit or miss in terms of crowd type and # of people. The bartenders are friendly and great hosts. Music is mainly today's sounds. My take is short and sweet since we only had drinks, that were made well BTW. Hookah is cash only, not a dealbreaker for us just FYI for those considering coming here. The Hookah uses traditional coals and their flavor selection is limited as compared to other places. We received good, polite service on a Saturday at 9. The hookah was fine. The Lychee martini is a total miss -- more straight sweet than actual lychee. Hubby said his Harlem cocktail was "strong AF but good". Keep in mind this place has More of a club vibe, for relaxing, quieter/cozier hookah vibe go to EastSide story and see the difference is the selection of the hookah flavors, too. Stopped In Taboo last night for a quick night out with babe. We had drinks 2 Nipsey Blues each, food and Hookah. Service was great every waitress that passed by made sure that we were ok. Really pricey. When I went the kitchen was closed, someone invited me and a date there. They told me 50 cent was in charge of the bar, pretty cool to know. They have hookah there, speciality cocktails. Has a downstairs but never went down there to check it out. Probably wouldn't return honestly read more

Came here on a Saturday and sat in the back, very cute decor. The waitress is nice and attentive and the music is good. My date ordered a hookah which was like $60 with tax and tip but no free refills and refill is $31 crazy. He wanted Henny but they don't serve it so he instead opted out for some effen' cognac by 50cent, apparently the place is owned by him so that's what they have. Mind you I've been getting flyers for different events and after work things for this place but never had the chance to come. Anywho I saw some people order a drink ,so I asked for it and it was ok (see pic). I also had a margarita with "casa, " that was ok. My date also had chicken fingers with fries which, he said was good. I will def. Come back and see what else is good on the menu and to just enjoy the vibes. The music and the food was absolutely amazing but this place is a SCAM! They try to get you in every way they can so watch out!! They say they close @2:00 A.M yet had security start telling us to leave at 1:25 A.M. We ordered a hookah not knowing we wouldn't even get to enjoy it. Was charged $60 (cash only..) for the hookah in which wasn't even pulling and staff continued to smoke the rest of our hookah as we were being escorted rushing us out so the bartenders can still smoke the hookah . (At no point did they ever warn us they was getting ready to close, we would've never even got it). & To top it all off they gave themselves a $30 tip! Please avoid going here!! There are so many other good spots in NYC! read more

The food is amazing here, the hookah is top level for the price, it's worth every dollar. Alli might have the best hookah in the city. Besides the hookah and food being great, the service is very good, very professional and very clean. I highly Recommend if you are in the midtown area or leaving an event by the Garden. read more

After 30 minutes of waiting we went to the bar for water & lemon that we asked for & never received then closed out! We missed the whole happy hour because no one ever came to refill us or even ask if we were ok. We were there from 7pm-8:45pm We missed the whole happy hour & were legitimately told that we were forgotten about LOL! The music & hookah were good. It's not as clean as some pics show ..I seen stuff on t/tok .I would not eat the food here at all ..it's paperwork n extra items lounging around ..however the restroom was clean ! The food is average bar food that you have after a night out NOT for your go to dinner spot. Social media has created false advertisement for what Taboo is actually delivering in the food area - especially the wrong atmosphere. The ambiance is advertised as a warm vibe with a good mix of music and amazing food, but it was just really dark and all over the place with mood setting. The service wasn't slow, but my server introducing herself and taking my order with a lollipop in her mouth is definitely not the best first impression. Hookah is extremely overpriced for the product being given at a $60 charge with no refills (and the workers were circled around the bar smoking hookah with no care of customer service). The owner should rethink the ambiance and furniture for seating - the high tables and chairs are unstable and created an uncomfortable situation while trying to eat. read more

This place is trash the Bartender is trash (definitely gorgeous but trash) the hookah lady was cool very fast service the menu said 45 for the hookah but she charged 57 and don't give back your change. the drinks was good the place is ok but the service is trash and over priced. i did record the service and will be reposting this business. wish i could say more but everything this establishment stand for definitely should be over looked and management need to really check the workers as well as the price for the service they are providing read more

It's a no. A hard no. Only had a bit of fun because of my own table's energy and our next door table's laughter. The service is soooooo so so so so so slow. I can't put enough emphasis on SLOW. We sat in the back and had to go back up to the bar multiple times to ask for drinks and a hookah refill we NEVER NEVER GOT. Hookah is cash only. Next to us, two other couples left because they weren't getting served. When me and my friend went up to the bar to see what was taking so long, another group complained that two of their ubers left before they got their checks they requested half an hour ago. For the price, it ain't worth it. Just head over to any other bar with a view like Magic Hour rooftop so you can at least get service in a respectable time frame with a view that matches the price range. read more

Just want to start by saying they are even lucky that I'm giving them a star since Yelp doesn't allow me to Go even lower. To start the music is terrible at this location! I Prbly heard "way to sexy" by drake about 10 times and I was there maybe an hour. The hookah is overpriced and was not even made correctly. I had asked the waitress to change it and all she did was come blow on the charcoal smh. Overpriced and overrated would not recommend or return. read more

The waitress was not friendly at all. She was rushing us to order. It was a group of 7 people. I asked her for a pretty drink which she could have easily ask me what kind of liquor I wanted... instead she gave me top shelf and charged me double for the drink. I don't mind paying for top shelf but usually wait staff ask what kind of liquor .. I didn't appreciate her not asking. The food was decent but it took a long time for it to come out. When the bill came she automatically added a 25% tips- I'm aware when it's a group of 4-5 more you are able to add 18-20% but not 25% We asked her several times to changed it, she refused but then finally she changed it to 18%. I believe tips are earned based on the services... and the services was terrible. Do not come here there's plenty of other lounges that offer better hookah / food and services. read more

The establishment is nice but the customer service that we experienced on November 11, 2020 around 8 PM from a female bartender was beneath anything that I've ever experienced before she was horrible she had no customer service skills she was not professional she did not fix anything that we needed to be fixed and it was just beyond terrible and she added her own tip in there and thought she was going to get an additional tip by trying to list it as a service charge please help get your waitress under control because this is unacceptable. The Chef was amazing he knew the waitress had bad service skills & he talked to us. read more

Like the reviewer below me said, the beef carpaccio is to die for. This area of Chelsea isn't really known for exactly being particularly exciting to NYers unless they're going to MSG. The place is loaded with bodegas, crappy food places, stale Irish Bars, and places that pretend to be beer bars and have terrible food (I'm looking at you Stout!) I really love the food here and try to come here at least once a week. Its all dirt cheap and the portions are just right. Despite the low prices all the food is high quality. I had a roast duck there on special. Cut in half length-wise with some cooked apricots, figs, and I don't remember what else served over a bed of saurkraut. Sadly it was no longer on the menu when I came back. I've tried most of their appetizers and a bunch of their meat entrees. I found myself scraping the tiny cast iron skillet when I ordered the beef stroganov. Other tasty things include their burgers, pork chops, and wings. My only real complaint is that the bartenders aren't all created equal. Some seem to really know what they're doing and others... well.. don't. but at least they're all pretty, right? read more

I thought the area around MSG was filled with nothing but tourist traps and hobos, but Taboo lounge disproves my preconceptions. Right down the street from the Blarney Stone, Taboo lounge offers the same great after work atmosphere, if not a bit more upscale - which i appreciate. The food is amazing - thanks to the award winning chef - try the beef carpaccio and/or the sausage platter if you're undecided; you cant go wrong. The drinks are adequately "stiff" and the bar tenders are a sight for sore eyes - what a good-looking staff! read more

Seriously...this place should be called "creepy foreign grandpa", because that's pretty much the gist of who was in there. Stopped with friends for a cocktail before going to Madison Square Garden and quickly realized the mistake. Adding insult to injury, it was over $100 for a few watery tasting drinks and two beers AND we got accosted by two smelly homeless guys that hover around their doorway begging. My coworkers and I go to Taboo at least twice a month because the vibe is amazing. The music is always good and the ladies who work there provide great customer service. We absolutely LOVE Kim and her drinks are the besssttt! She takes great care of us and took the time to memorize our favorites. Kim's service is top notch. The food is also so delicious. I came here 11/15 to hang out with my friends and celebrate a birthday it was my third time being there ever and I can definitely say they never disappoint with the food service was amazing I always make sure to get the sweet chili shrimp and the Mac and cheese. hookah is a bit expensive but it is downtown so that's expected anyways , definitely will be back soon read more
