OK, I heard this was another super-popular tea chain, so had to try it Well, their Bubble Tea tasted great (as expected)...but there were several downers. The packaging wasn't too great. Just a very basic cup with their name, even a colorless straw...very dull. Also, their straw was horrible (too big, maybe?), and was not able to suck up the Boba. In fact, I was left with a cup filled with Bobas that I wasn't able to suck up (OK, that doesn't sound very good lol!). Also, the place itself was sort of depressing in a way. The decor is cool, but rather dark and minimalistic...and didn't lend itself to be a "Bubbly" kind of place that I feel may better suit the moods of tea bars that specialize in Bubble Teas. Overall, I was a bit underwhelmed. Still, the tea itself tasted delicious, so I'm definitely willing to try them again. Hopefully the bad straw was a fluke?

Like Kung Fu Tea, Sharetea, and Tea Top, Gong Cha is another bubble tea chain from Taiwan. This is Gong Cha's first metro Atlanta location. It opened August 27, 2018 in Pleasant Hill Plaza, the shopping center that used to house Assi Plaza (now City Farmers Market), on Pleasant Hill Road near I-85 in Duluth. Gong Cha is also planning to open a kiosk at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody. When we visited this shop, it had an average two-star rating on Yelp with 57 reviews. Averaging two stars on Yelp is hard to do. Usually, something is definitely wrong when a business averages only two stars, but I still wanted to check this place out for myself. Unfortunately, I concur with the low rating ("Meh. I've experienced better."). One of the drinks we had was bad, service was slow, and the store looked nothing like the renderings on its website: https://gongcha-ga.com/locations. The bubble tea game in Atlanta has stepped up in recent years and sadly, this Gong Cha isn't on the same level as the competition. During our visit, there were 55 drinks to choose from on the menu, divided into the following 7 categories: Milk Foam Series (7), Brewed Tea Series (6), Milk Tea Series (11), Milk Drink Series (6), Creative Mixed Series (12), Coffee Series (3), and Ice Smoothie Series (10). Most drinks can be served cold or hot and they come in two sizes: medium (16 oz) and large (22 oz). Medium drinks range in price from $3.00 to $4.75 each. Large drinks are $3.75 to $5.75 each. Toppings cost an extra $0.50 to $0.75 per topping. I can't say Gong Cha offers anything too different from the competition. Generally, the tea types and toppings are about the same. Toppings include milk foam and strawberry milk foam; white and black pearls; coconut, pudding, grass, and aiyu jelly; basil seeds and red bean. We tried a sample cup of the white pearls. To me, they didn't taste as good as regular black pearls. They weren't as soft nor as sweet. They were harder, denser, and slightly more tart in flavor, almost like a fruit jelly. We ordered the following: * Matcha Milk Drink (medium size, 16 oz, $4.50) * Oolong Milk Tea with black pearls (large size, 22 oz, $4.50) * Purple Sweet Potato Milk Tea with black pearls and grass jelly (medium size, 16 oz, $5.50) The Matcha Milk Drink was the best of the three. It was also the simplest. It wasn't bad and was good enough to finish. If you like matcha milk tea, this one probably won't disappoint. We couldn't finish the other two. I thought the Oolong Milk Tea was okay at best. My fiancee, who likes ordering oolong milk tea at the different bubble tea shops around town, didn't like it. It definitely wasn't up to par with the oolong milk teas from shops like Kung Fu Tea, Sharetea, Tea House Formosa, and Tea Top. Gong Cha's version tasted artificial and cheaper in quality. It didn't have a great finish and left an odd aftertaste in our mouths. I ordered the Purple Sweet Potato Milk Tea because it looked unique. This wasn't taro because taro is listed as a different flavor option on the menu. I suspect Gong Cha's "Purple Sweet Potato" is the same thing as purple yam or ube. Three of us tried this drink and independently came to the same conclusion: it was awful. I took several sips, hoping the next sip would taste better than the last, but that never happened. Each sip was equally bad. The drink tasted chalky/powdery and relatively bitter. I hate to say it, but it had a repulsive flavor almost. We ended up throwing away both the Oolong Milk Tea and Purple Sweet Potato Milk Tea. It's not a good sign when you throw away your teas before finishing them. I should note the Oolong Milk Tea was a lot more palatable than the Purple Sweet Potato Milk Tea. On the bright side, the toppings (black pearls and grass jelly) were decent. The black pearls were fresh, sweet, and appetizingly chewy and the grass jelly was soft, smooth, and delicious. The staff was nice. There were plenty of employees and, for some reason, it took us longer than expected to get our orders despite there being no one ahead of us. This place is not the well-oiled machine that the other shops already are. As for the space, it's fine. It's fairly simple, but not completely bare bones. It appears the interior was fully renovated. There are some nice modern touches such as the wood-paneled ordering counter and the wood paneling above the open kitchen. I guesstimate seating capacity is around 30-40 customers, all indoors. Parking is plentiful.

Apparently my bonus daughters love boba + milk tea. I'm sure y'all seen my reviews in Honolulu about milk tea adventures with Tiffany, well they continue in GA. This was the 2nd spot for the day since the first one we pulled up to was not open. I tried the milk tea with jelly and custard (not a boba fan), A tried Mango Peach Tea with rainbow jelly and K tried Taro/Strawberry milk tea with rainbow jelly. Everyone enjoyed their drinks. I try to get the girls to try new flavors. The shop is quaint and small. They have boars games so I can see this being a hang out spot for teenagers. Plenty of parking spaces here since it's in the same shopping center as City's Farmers Market. I didn't see if they served food or anything like that. Prices seem kind of high (to me), and drinks were on the small side. Overall not bad, I'd come back.

*** This updated review is about Gong Cha as a business, not so much about a particular drink if you're wondering what to order here. Though the earl gray milk tea with 3J's was very good btw. *** I had the pleasure of talking with Tom during the Elite Week event as Gong Cha graciously invited Yelp Elites for some complimentary bubble tea. To be honest, I've already known about and visited Gong Cha even before the event. My impression of the place was average -- as with any other bubble tea establishment that's popping up. Tom provided some pretty interesting insights and details that have given me a deeper appreciation of bubble tea and Gong Cha's business practices. This staple Taiwanese brand now Korean owned is definitely unique. The employees for instance have two weeks of training before they start. One reason is bc making tapioca pearls the traditional way takes more time and care than just letting a machine create it. I also learned about the white pearl and how they're made out of figs. And they definitely have a new rewards program that wasn't around the last time I visited: Clover app. And something that we all take for granted when we ask for less ice... Did you know Gong Cha tries to adjust the sweetness level to account for the ice level you choose (even though you only wanted the ice level adjusted)? They also try to add more tea into the cup even though the drink level doesn't change minus the less ice at the customer's request. All in all, I learned a lot about Gong Cha and how this brand is different. They make sure their products are fresh as they throw away any old tapioca pearls or tea that's over 4 hours old. Thank you Tom for the knowledge! I definitely learned a lot and am leaving with a more positive impression. See Gong Cha soon for their new (brown sugar?) tea series.

After all the drama and poor reviews I've seen on Yelp, I'm surprised I ended up coming to this Gong Cha at all. I didn't love my experience with Gong Cha in Houston so I had low expectations. I ordered a standard Gong Cha oolong milk tea but with egg pudding since I was craving it. It was surprisingly tasty, and not too sweet since I ordered the minimum 30% sugar level. It was slightly smoky which I also liked. The egg pudding was sweet, so I was glad I got the lowest sugar level. It's not as strong in oolong flavor than I'm used to - so I wonder if it's due to the milk, as I usually order "fresh milk latte" versus "milk tea" at other bubble tea shops. The line to order and to pick up is pretty bad, as others have commented. But not any worse than Ding Tea. Hopefully they do iron out the timing for those instances. Overall, it's not my favorite bubble tea shop by far, but if I'm ever in the area, I wouldn't mind stopping at Gong Cha to give them another try. I would say it's a solid 3.5 for me!

I stopped by one weekday afternoon. I was the only customer at the time. I was greeted immediately upon entering. The space is a decent size, not big but not too small either. Plenty of seating. They have board games available. Parking is a breeze. I let the staff behind the counter know that it was my first time, and I asked lots of questions about their drinks. The friendly staff member answered all of them patiently and even made good recommendations. I went with her rec, the Early Grey Milk Tea with 3Js (Pearl + Grass Jelly + Pudding Jelly). I ordered a medium $4.75. I sat down and less than 5 minutes later, another staff member brought my milk tea to my table. The milk tea had great flavor. It was creamy yet refreshing. The toppings were good, too. The pearls had a nice chewy texture and a hint of sweetness. I really enjoyed it! The space was clean. The staff was fast and very friendly. The prices were reasonable and the milk tea (at least the one I had) was delicious. I would definitely return!

You might think I'm a bubble tea connoisseur but quite the contrary. I've actually only had bubble tea a couple times in my life, and I'm not really sure why, because I do like it. I think people are either going to love it or hate it. If you have texture issues with food and drink, you may not love the bubbles. But I personally love them. Little bursts of sweetness in your mouth is never a bad thing. I came here with my little one, and let her pick the drink. She opted for the mango smoothie, and I decided to go with the lychee white pearls. Oh my, I love me some lychee. They tasted so good! I have never seen this kind of thing, but they had ice level and sugar level, so you can make it more healthy. My daughter asked for the sugar to be 100%, but I insisted on the 70%. I like that you can adjust the sugar and ice amounts. Nice! Being a fairly newbie to these types of drinks, I was overwhelmed by the menu. Did I want milk foam, brewed tea, milk tea, milk drink, smoothie? Did I want it hot or cold? So many choices, and I don't even know what milk foam even is. My smoothie was creamy, tasted really good with the mango/lychee combination. The staff was so friendly, and they gave me two small gifts for dropping in. I thought that was so nice! I'd definitely come back here if I am in the area, and get a refreshing smoothie anyday.

In terms of taste, I would say that Gong Cha isn't anything particularly unique. The taste is about the same as any other bubble tea location and they have about the same drink options. Maybe a few different drinks and styles, but nothing out of the ordinary. The drinks can be customized by styles (milk tea, tea, slush, milk foam, etc), toppings, ice level, and sugar level. You can adjust ice and sugar level by 30, 70, or 100%. I like that option because you can decide how sweet you want your drink. What stood out to me most is the customer service. I came here for the Yelp Elite week and received one free drink and an additional for 50% off. In addition, I was given a free planner and calendar for checking out the business. Staff was incredibly kind and gave me advice on their top drinks and what to order. Once my drinks were made, they even brought them out to my table for me.

Came here again since I've been trying bubble tea from literally everywhere. I got their original milk tea with half sugar, less ice (3.25)+ white pearl (0.75) and it was pretty good honestly. Half sugar was pretty sweet but still drinkable, anymore and it would have been too sweet. The milk tea has a good balance of tea and milk flavor, neither overpowering the other. The white boba has a texture like jelly and I enjoy it just as much as regular boba. I also tried their hot oolong milk tea (4.00) with boba (0.50) and 70% sugar. Not my favorite oolong milk tea out there and 70% sugar was definitely too sweet to the point where we had to send it back. However, the boba itself didn't seem to be sweet at all. Their price is actually cheaper than some other places by a few cents which is a nice bonus considering how much bubble tea I drink. There's not too much seating here which is fine when there's less people.

Closest boba tea place next to my house. I stop by often to get the cure for my boba tea craving. Lately I am addicted to the fruit teas with white boba. Different from grand opening. Service is much quicker now. And the drinks are good. I always get less ice and less sweet.

The atmosphere: The service is very fast on weekends even when it's super packed. The people in front of us took forever to order but the staff was very patient with them. Extra seating would've been nice but the speed of service was fast enough that tables cleared very quickly. The drinks: The mango green tea tastes like biting into a ripe summer mango. 10/10 The strawberry black tea was a little bitter but I went with 30% sugar so that was my own fault. 9/10 going down the hatch. 10/10 if I had gotten it a bit sweeter. The lemon ai-yu with white pearls was super refreshing. I would've liked it a bit more sour though. Also note that it does have bits of lemon rinds in it. It wasn't mentioned on the menu and I wasn't a huge fan of it. It's a 9/10 due to the rinds. Side note: the previous time I came in, I had to make three separate orders as I was ordering for family (no one at home knew what they wanted and called me later) and the staff was super courteous and understanding.

Wanted to order Dirty Brown Sugar Milk tea, my most fav drink at Gong Cha, but for some reason Gong cha in Atlanta doesn't have that type of drink as it does in Texas ( recently moved here about 2 weeks) I Was kinda confused about what should have been in the drink to get the same taste so customizing my drink made me pay more than I used to. Shouldn't the menu be the same for all Gong Cha across all the franchise? Just a thought.

I was so excited to hear that there was a Gong Cha in Atlanta, since it's one of the best boba chains in New York. Unfortunately, it did not meet the same expectations. I ordered the Wintermelon Milk Tea with boba; the tea was decent, but not super fragrant. I got regular sweetness, as usual, but their regular was insanely sweet for me. As for the space, they have a few small tables and games to play. It has a modern interior, and is relatively clean overall. With all the other boba shops around town, I would rather choose another place!

Not very busy on a Saturday afternoon. Came in to order and it was very loud for some reason. Had to repeat everything I said several times for the cashier to hear. The cashier was very curt with us. They only have Takeout only for now. Order two types of tea white white pearl. Nothing to write home to. I've had Gongcha other places and they were better flavor wise. My drink looked pretty though. Good experience overall! I ordered the milk green tea (hot, half sugar) with black pearls. It tasted pretty good - not too sweet and green tea flavor was strong. The store itself was modern and clean. There was some seating along the side of the store but not much. We were lucky to get a spot to sit, but there were quite a few people in line after us. I had excellent service here and enjoyed my caramel milk tea with black boba. I am not usually a huge boba fan and will get it on a special occasion with friends who really like boba (ha ha, peer pressure). But I can say I really liked the drink and even enjoyed the boba which I usually find a tasteless, chewy addition. Gong Cha's black boba seemed a little sweet which to me, made them taste better. I usually will leave a generous handful of boba at the bottom of my cup, but this time I ate them up! Of the boba places I've been, I feel like Gong Cha has the best selection and options to customize your perfect concoction. I was skeptical about this boba place because of the mixed reviews but I honestly had a pleasant experience and enjoyed the drinks I ordered. I've had boba at various restaurants (like Sweet Hut and KoKai Thai) and I feel like Gong Cha's boba selection and flavor is the best. The black boba was the perfect texture and had a subtle sweetness which was truly enjoyable. Sometimes you get a mouthful of boba and you're left with chewing down a glob with no flavor, but the slight sweetness of Gong Cha's boba made it delightful to eat. I felt like I could just snack on their boba and be perfectly content! I appreciate that you can select your beverage's ice and sweetness level. This was unexpected and I opted to go with 50% ice and 50% sweetness. I felt like the 50% sweetness was perfect. Drinks that are super sweet can be overwhelming and too rich. The 50% sweetness made the drinks more refreshing and allowed you to taste the flavors better and not just sugar. The 2 drinks I had were the green tea milk foam and the strawberry taro. Between the two, I definitely enjoyed the green tea one the best. The strawberry taro tasted a bit too artificial for me. I let my husband try it and he said it tasted like cereal milk, specifically Capt Crunch Berries! I preferred the green tea milk foam's refreshing, clean flavor. The slight bitterness that lingers with green tea paired perfectly with the semi sweet boba and creamy milk. I would love to come back to Gong Cha. There were so many flavors that I'd still like to try! read more

It is just okay. I was here with my friends on Friday for their grand opening weekend. I knew it would be busy and that the wait would be long... I guess i just didn't think it'd be an hour and 45+ minutes to order and to get the drinks. I read many reviews regarding the a/c. There were fans cooling down the room, so this wasn't an issue for me. I ordered a black milk tea with 50% sugar and boba with less ice. I also tried my friend's earl grey milk tea at 50% sugar as well as another friend's oolong milk tea at 0% sugar. I thought that all the teas were quite bland. However, I really don't like their oolong tea. I've had Gong Cha in New York and I also didn't enjoy it there. They're out of white pearls and have been all weekend. Overall, my first visit wasn't worth the wait and the tea was nothing special. I came back today on Labor Day. Yes, it's a holiday and it may be very busy. Yes, it is busy. The line to order is not nearly as long as it was on Friday, but nobody sitting down is enjoying a drink. Everyone in the store is waiting for their drinks. What is making this process take so long? They have way more than enough workers, but either everyone is still learning or it could be that their set up for making drinks is inefficient. Either way, I've never spent so much time waiting for drinks and should have left because it was not worth it. Also, still no white pearl. I do have to say the staff members are very apologetic for the wait and reminded everyone that it will be a while. I was quoted 30 mins, but it's been 35 mins and counting and they're nowhere near my number order. I waited about 1 hour and 10 minutes total for my drink and it's actually even more disappointing than the first time I tried it. It doesn't even taste like tea, just sugar water. I will probably only come back to try the white pearl and not be back for much else. Otherwise, staff members are very nice. There is plenty of parking outside as it's in the Assi Plaza. read more

I wanted to like this place, but I really couldn't. First of all, it's an hour long wait for MILK TEA. I understand they just opened, but a multitude of tea shops in the area were never this bad during their grand opening. At one point, they were churning out ONE tea per FIVE minutes, and there were 9 people working all at once at one point. Also, they really need to enunciate when they're calling out orders; I barely heard my order get called due to the lady barely calling out my number. Now onto the tea. With the HOUR long wait, I was expecting this tea to be the freaking bomb dot com. When I got my large Milk Foam Oolong Tea, I took one sip and was already disappointed. I even followed the instructions and was let down. The milk foam was standard salty cream, but the tea,,,,,, I wanted tea, not water. Every sip here and there I'd get a whiff of tea, but most of the time it was cold water with an aftertaste of salty cream. If you're looking for good tea quick, this place has neither. read more

Gong Cha is the newest Boba place to open in Atlanta. Gong Cha today is one of the most popular bubble tea chains around the world. Gong Cha can be found in 15 countries and 1500+ locations around the world. It was founded in 2006 in Taiwan and its name means "Tribute Tea for the emperor". In 2009 it has its first overseas location in Hong Kong (I had to mention this as a honger lol). And in 2014 Gong Cha opened its first store in the US (Flushing, NY). Gong Cha believes in offering its customers quality tea products with emphasis on quality, innovation, and service. This is what has made them successful. Gong Cha tea source is from Taiwan's top tea estates and is known for freshly brewing their tea and boba every 4 hours. They are known in the US for their specialty "Milk Foam". Their milk foam has a slightly salted cream that is topped on top of ones tea. It brings a wonderful unique taste and texture no other Boba shop in Atlanta currently offers. Instructions on drinking : 1. Take the cap off ones drink and sample the foam 2. Put the cap back on the drink and sample the tea next at the bottom of ones drink. 3. Stir and mix the milk foam with the tea and enjoy! This location: This location is located in the Assi plaza off pleasant hill. Therefore, parking is plentiful. Inside: The inside is about the same size as other boba store locations and similar layout. One side is dedicated to an open concept boba preparation area, and the other side to seating. Price: Under $5 like a lot of other boba places. RIGHT NOW IS THE SOFT OPENING SO EVERYTHING IS 50%. Menu: The menu provides many options. My first visit I tried the green tea milk foam and black tea foam. They ran out of regular boba so I tried the white boba. The milk foam black tea is better in my opinion. White boba for those that have never had it, has a gelatin texture like aloe. Right now is the soft opening so I don't think they offer the full menu yet. Wait: THE WAIT IS LOOOOONNNNGGG. I waited 1 hour for 2 bobas -_-. I WANT DELIVERY/PICKUP OPTIONS! LOL. Note: NO AC RIGHT NOW- Your wait will be long AND HOT lol. Customer Service: The gentleman at the cashier was extremely nice. Thank you :) Overall, I recommend this place. The only issues right now are no AC and long wait. But the AC can be fixed easily/eventually and the long wait comes with any new boba shop opening up. Eventually the wait will get better :). read more

This place wasn't too bad, but it's definitely not anywhere close to being great. I got the earl grey milk tea and it was too milky. It was more like milk with a hint of tea instead of the other way around. Unless you have an extreme sweet tooth, I'd stick with 70% sugar. read more

My friend and I came here a few days after the grand opening hoping things wouldn't be as hectic. We were wrong... We waited 30 minutes for our drinks when the place wasn't even super crowded and both of our ordered were wrong when it came out too. Judging from the other reviews it seems like there's a trend of untrained staff and poor overall preparedness, especially for a grand opening. To simply begin the review with, my aunt and her daughter was eager to buy some milk tea for themselves after supposedly there being "50% discount" on all drinks. They waited 30 minutes in line to order. After their long wait for a small order in which completely BS'ed the "50% off" by practically giving normal prices they sat and waited for their 2 drinks to be finished. 30 minutes into waiting, her daughter is rightfully upset. An hour in and she is about to cancel the order but all the precious time given into 2 drinks would go into vain. After a total of an 1 hour and 30 minutes in total she was finally called by her number and given her drinks. It was very simply put as a disappointing experience. The taste was neither extraordinary or unique. It is very similar to many other places that sell milk tea. Going back to the 50% discount situation, I believe they either lied about it to attract the mass amount of people coming to the grand opening for profit or had carelessly forgotten their own promised deals. Out of common and polite etiquette, I did not remind the cashier of it and I didn't care much of it but would like to point that out in this review. I will not blame Gong Cha for most of its difficulties and slow process as it was their first day on the day of the grand opening dealing with a large crowd and sum of people. I respect Gong Cha's apologies for all the complications but however won't come back for some time. Perhaps in the future when they are a bit more experienced and a bit more set, My family will come back to visit and enjoy some milk tea. read more

I went to Texas 2 months ago and had the Gong Cha there. It was amazing and I was so excited to hear that Gong Cha was coming to Georgia. I really wanted to like this place. I waited out the whole opening rush and madness that usually happens when a new place opens up. When I finally had a chance to try it, I was so disappointed. My girlfriend had the oolong milk tea and we both agreed that it literally tasted like creamy water. I had the mango smoothie and I can still taste the powder residue in it. Unfortunately based on this experience, I can't say that the Gong Cha in Duluth is worth going to. read more

Overall I had a good experience and I find the drinks not too bad. Some drinks are better than others. Here are what I like from them and would order again: (ice is depending on the weather outside so that's varies from person to person) - Oolong milk tea - regular sugar. - peach green tea - 50% sugar - lychee green tea - 30% sugar There were other drinks, but I can't remember whether or not I liked them. I guess they were okay but not memorable for me to order again. The workers were pretty nice when I ordered and had to review my orders to ensure they got it correct. I tend to come when they are super busy which I think is key. Usually when you come when it's super busy or when it's grand opening, people are rushing, drinks be coming out slower than usual and there will be bound to be miscommunication. Each time I come here, minus the first time, my drinks are done within 3 minutes (I usually order 3 or more). The first time, I came slightly after their grand opening and it took 7 minutes to get 1 drink, so I'll assume they had gotten their drink making time fix. Another new bubble tea spot in the Duluth area. Gong Cha is actually a chain that is pretty prevalent on the West Coast but is now making it's debut in the Metro Atlanta Area. It is very similar to all the other bubble tea spots but this one is more on the traditional side since it originates from Taiwan. They can serve pretty much all of their teas both cold and hot with toppings such as boba, jelly, and red bean. Unfortunately, no fruit toppings which is my go to since I prefer the fruit-based teas. Just an average rating due to the newness of the establishment. They still haven't figured out all their kinks and are a little disorganized while the line moves very slowly so give it a while before you come check this place out. read more

Went there to try it out since Gong Cha is a popular Taiwanese chain bubble tea place. However, really disappointed. The first drink I got had a WHITE hair in there and they were nice enough to exchange it but still... a hair... and white... after we exchanged to a regular drink, I was hoping it would be a good because it's just a simple drink that every bubble tea place have. But... the tea taste like water. I honestly don't know why y'all trippin' on here because Gong Cha was bomb when I came through the other night. I was the only one and the workers greeted me and welcomed me in from the cold. I think I got the winter melon milk foam tea and it was delicious! That milk foam is FIRE!! It had a sweet and salty taste which I really enjoyed but was just a bit slightly too creamy/heavy of a texture. I'd still get it again though. The texture of the boba was also on point; it had the perfect chewiness and was the right amount of sweet. Despite reading the bad reviews prior to coming in, I still gave this place a shot because I needed bubble tea in my blood, and I'm glad I gave this place a chance! I'd love to come back if I'm ever in ATL again. Next time, I'll get the bigger-sized cup because I definitely drank that thing too fast. read more

I finally paid this place a visit after hearing/seeing all the hype when it first opened. Disclaimer- I'm not a huge fan of bubble tea so take this review with a grain of salt. They had an extensive menu of different milk teas, tea, tea foam, and smoothies, etc. I'm currently in a Taro phase and so I ordered the Taro smoothie with 50% sugar. The taste wasn't anything special and I didn't get any toppings so there isn't much to say about this. It was a typical Taro smoothie. My 2 friends got Earl grey milk tea foam and oolong milk tea foam with black pearls. The Earl grey was saltier than the oolong but odd enough to say, both of them were salty. It was such a strange experience for my taste buds. Kung Fu Tea sets the bar pretty high with tapioca balls or as they call it here, "black pearls" -- and I wasn't impressed. Not really chewy. We stayed here for about 45-50 minutes and they literally played the same song the entire time. "My Love - Westlife" I had never heard the song before but we all knew the lyrics by the time we left. Compared to other reviews, I did not mind the broken AC. I've tasted a couple of other Gong Cha stores in NY and Toronto. Their grand opening day on 8/30 was to say the least, a hot mess. However, I'm a very patient person and understand it's hard to gauge a smooth new store opening. First mistake my friend and I made was to visit the store after dinner time. The store was PACKED with a line looping around in the store and you couldn't tell where the line ended. There were tons of people waiting outside because there wasn't enough space to wait either. We chose to wait. The AC was down, but they had a few fans and two individual AC machines blowing but regardless if there was AC, the place would be hot anyway with all these customers inside waiting to order. For their special, it is BOGO (Buy 1 Get 2nd Half off) I ordered the Wintermelon Milk Foam with Boba (this is my usual). This drink, in general, is sweet across the board and you CANNOT change the sugar level (however I do get away with it at some boba spots). The tea itself is pre-sweetened. When I was in Toronto, it was hands down the only place that I loved the Wintermelon tea. So of course, I had to get it once I knew they were opening a store here in Georgia. It was sweet, but not overpoweringly sweet like other places (ShareTea/TeaTop). I'd probably order this again. My friend originally ordered Oolong Milk Foam. She wanted the green tea but at this time (10:25pmish) the cashier said they had ran out of green tea. So she opted for Oolong. We waited for about 10 minutes and then our number was called (you know, assuming our order was ready), but they had called our number because they said that they had ran out of oolong tea and suggested earl grey tea. My friend was trying to avoid earl grey but had to get it anyway. At this time, they were calling a lot of people's order numbers for that same reason. My friend said that her Earl Grey Milk Foam tea was too sweet when she had asked for 30% sugar level. Granted, it wasn't her original order anyway, but they might have forgotten it was 30% sugar level. Overall, despite the broken AC, the 1hr 20 min wait time, we'd probably come here again after all the kinks are fixed. The employees kept apologizing every time there was a change and for the wait so service was alright. They just need better communication among staff if certain things have ran out instead of calling the customer twice for order changes. I'm sure the store will use this as a learning opportunity and hopefully it will flourish if changes are done. Just like other new boba spots around Atlanta. I'd say give this place a shot and be very patient. New businesses will always have problems opening day and mistakes get made all the time. So I'll probably update my review with given time. Otherwise, I like the boba tea here and the tapioca pearls were good. read more

I'd say their milk tea has more milky than the actual tea taste. So depends if you like that smooth milky tea taste. They are definitely very generous with the bubbles though. Probably the most bubbles I've ever got from a bubble tea. However their bubbles are tend to stuck together makes it hard to drink through the straw. Nice and quick staff though! read more

It's good but not good compared to other boba tea places. This place does have new tastes/combinations. I really love their mustache addon to your drink. It adds on the experience. Very cute and the interior is very cool. There's also table top games here that you can use to play. I would definitely come back but not on the daily more like every quarter of the year. I initially came on grand opening day and had to wait over an hour in very hot conditions for my somewhat watered down tea. But I came back over a week later and Gong Cha came through. Gongcha!!!!! What happened??? I fell in love with gongcha when I had it first in Taiwan way back, I fell in love with it again when I had it in New York, and once again in LA. I was super excited and told everyone the minute I knew they will open in GA, but jesus yall have fail me. After the commotion about the grand opening, I waited for two months before I tried it. It was bad! All the drinks that I ordered tasted water down and I couldn't tasted the tea whatsoever. They were really busy so I caught alot of mistake in the process. Gong Cha was always one of the top brands of bubble tea and has been one of my favorites. Hearing that one was opening up near me got me excited. Going to the Grand Opening of the store yesterday, there were things I noticed. First, the A/C unit was broken and on a hot day, it was uncomfortable in there. Second, the wait was way too long. I understand that it is the Grand Opening hype and adding along with the BOGO50% off there are a lot of orders. I ordered two drinks that took me 1.5 hours to get. (I was willing to wait the 40minutes they told me initially because I already waited in line for an extra 20minutes already.) The staff based on observation were either never trained until day of or received very little training. (Again I understand that it is first day, there are kinks that need to be worked out and that it might be their first day working.) However, I still find it inexcusable for orders to be backed up for an hour and a half with orders coming out once every 10-20 minutes. At the most people should've been waiting for 30 minutes, in my opinion. Third, as of now I feel like the taste of the tea is mediocre when comparing the taste to Kung Fu Tea and ShareTea. The tapioca tastes pretty well made. Finally, as I stated before, it is the Grand opening so I'm going to give them some more time to fully train their staff and fix their kinks before my friends and I revisit. This is a modernized authentic tea franchise. Being in the heart of Duluth where bubble tea fanatics are willing to line out the door to try a new place, the expectations are high because most of us has tried all the 10+ bubble tea shops within 10 mile radius and are real critics. First, as many others complained about- the AC could not handle the grand opening crowd. To make it worse, the wait is about 30 minutes just to order. The wait to receive your drink is between 30 minutes to over an hour. So if you have at least an hour to spare for a drink, be cautious and especially patient. This crowd is quite normal in many other popular bubble tea places- so why is it taking so long? It seems that the workers were unprepared to open. They do not have a shaking machine and an automated syrup dispenser (which is surprising for it being a franchise), so each drink takes a long time to make. It is really worth the technology to speed up the process. They have over 10 staff, maybe they need to reassess their system. Now after this 1+ hour wait, are the drinks worth it? I had the milk foam green tea and milk foam Earl grey, being a fan of the salty whipped foam. Pros: The tea quality is exceptional so I was satisfied with my drink. This is exactly how I like my drinks, where you can actually taste the tea. It was the perfect amount of sweetness. The wintermelon tea definitely landed as my favorite drink. I liked the cute mustaches you can add to your straws. Cons: The tapioca wasn't that great. It was slightly undercooked and gave me a stomachache. Also, why did my drink come with so little ice and tasted slightly warm? The milk tasted a little funky too. Overall, the tea quality is good and has potential- they brew it right. But this is the longest I've ever had to wait for a drink and I would not come back until they improve their system! I am sad to see they started off shaky. They need to be able to handle large crowds and provide fast service. Hope they improve efficiency, because I really do like the tea! read more

I prefer the fruit teas or coffee drinks over the milk teas here, though if I were to choose where to go, I wouldn't normally pick Ding Tea.

Gongcha has been one of my favorite bubble tea place! I've had it in New York many times and is stoked Duluth now has one!!! I went to gongcha every day, ever since their soft opening. The first couple days there were some kinks, such as no a/c and long wait. However, it was due to the big orders everyone was ordering. I, myself ordered 4 since it was 50% off (lol). On their grand opening day, the line and wait was extremely long but I expected that. I can see the staffs worked really hard to get everyone's order out as fast as they could. The cashier guy was extremely polite and nice! I went there again today and their a/c worked! I really like their milk foam series! I've tried the: milk foam green tea, milk foam oolong, milk foam earl gray ( my fav!) and milk foam wintermelon drink. Their lemon wintetmelon drink with basil seed was a refreshing one. It has some salted lemon pieces which makes it taste like salted lemon drinks. I got the white pearl every single time!!! I can see why they ran out today since almost EVERYONE ordered it! They told me they'll have it in a couple of days. They have bogo50% off till Sunday so take advantage of that ! Overall, I'm so glad we now have gongcha and will be visiting it pretty often! Been in GC everywhere in Vietnam, Korea and Us too, its great to have drink with tea flavor and topping. The coffee milk tea there is awsomes and the white pearl is great and you can not have it else where. And we came back to GC Duluth some days ago, i should say that this place is great place for hanging out with friend as they have more space to sit and huge car park as this is inside the shopping center. The taste of drink from GC is a little bit different from other place but its still a must try and my habit too. My son and daughter like black milk tea with boba and the milk foam is delicious with 3 ways to enjoy it. This place would be the favorite place for my family in our coming list weekly. read more

I went to this place and the boba I ordered was very salty. I even saw a hair in my tea, disgusting! The workers there were extremely exhausted which indicated that it was a management problem. I really love boba, but the service Gong Cha offers is very lacking in comparison to other boba restaurants. At one point, I was talking with my friend as to how my drink tasted very salty but when I tried to throw it away, the trash was so full that there was no room to put it in. My co-worker recommended me this place. She got me the "Sweet potato slush drinks with boba" and it is the best drink I had in my entire life. I just wish they add more of the cream cheese, last time it was very little on it. The slushy style of sweet purple potato is very yummy and not too sweet.
