I was there in the crowds waiting in line at their first Flushing location in 2009, and have been a KFT fan ever since. Taiwan is where bubble tea is from. I visit Taiwan annually for bubble tea and amazing cuisine. If you are wanting milk tea that can take you to Taiwan in a sip, order their black milk tea, large, 50% sugar, with classic boba. No flight necessary. While this chain doesn't hail from Taiwan, this is classic, iconic, old school style Taiwanese tea flavor. There are newer style teahouses in Duluth, but this is where you go to taste more of an original bubble tea flavor. This location is the best KFT in the area for a few reasons: 1. Quality control and consistency are key. 2. They have a secret Taiwanese snack menu that brings back true nostalgia. Including iconic louroufan with loudan. When you could eat these Taiwanese snacks paired with classic milk tea and socialize with friends, it brings back those Zongxiao East bubble tea cafe street memories for many. read more

Over 8 years ago, I gave this place 5. I'm a huge fan of Kung Fu Tea. This is the location closest to me, and I still visit it frequently. They make their tea drinks well enough. But I have to deduct some points for their slushes. They don't make slushes good here. I've tried other Kung Fu Teas and other Boba Tea places to compare. And this location makes the worst slushes. Their main problem is that they leave huge chunks of ice in their slushes. It makes the experience of drinking their slushes suck. I'm not sure what the problem is. Other places can blend their slushes to make it nice and smooth. This place is chunky with huge pieces of ice lingering. I wonder if they don't blend it enough or their blenders are too old and need replacing. It wasn't a one time problem. I've ordered a lot of slushes here, and it's been a problem for a long time. I liked this Kung Fu Tea location. It has been a couple of years before I went to one, and was surprised to see a place with such an ample variety. The menu has vastly grown since I was last at one when I lived in DC metro area. What was quite surprising to me most of all is the food menu. I don't know if this is now typical of all locations or if this is simply an independently owned location that has a kitchen, but either way, it is pleasant to know that you can dine here. Staff was friendly and I enjoyed my drink. Kung Fu Tea quality remains unchanged from previous experiences. I do like their boba, milk teas, and fruit teas, however, the downside is that I feel they put a ton of ice in your drink and that makes for less product you get to enjoy. Even though there are so many bubble tea options in pleasant hill, Duluth I decided to give this place a try. I know this place is well known and I heard good stuff about it so why not? I ordered the Kung Fu Milk with Oreo, and it tasted really weird and the jelly was too hard, almost impossible to chew. I only had in mind getting some bubble tea because I didn't know they had a food menu too. They have some options so I decided to order the Taiwanese minced Pork rice ($7). I was on the fence about the new lavender latte. First off, I thought it was tea. I asked the cashier what was in the drink. She named everything but coffee. She assumed I knew it was a coffee drink. Misunderstanding...it happens. When I first get my drink, I ask about the size. It's a seven dollar drink!!! But hot, The size is the same as a medium. I taste the drink. It's coffee. I kindly ask them to remake it and recount the exchange with cashier. They say no. They continue to condescend, not acknowledging the miscommunication on both parts, but educating me on what a latte is and is not. My all time favorite boba tea place. I love how you can modify the sweetness (say you want only 25% of the sugar, they can do that) and ice. They also have options where you can have it served hot as well. The boba is perfectly sweetened and chewy. They even claim to make their boba fresh every 2 hours to ensure freshness and quality! This location even has "mini bubz" (boba) which tasted just as good. I haven't tried very many things off the menu because I usually order my "go-to" oolong tea with less ice and 25% sweetness level, haha. My teenagers have been on a boba craze for a couple of years. We were visiting family in Suwanee area and my kids recognized the name of this shop from their chain stores in Virginia. The lines here are confusing. There's a stanchion near the door but that is not where you stand in line. You have to go to the back of the store and enter the line there. Ordering was pretty quick and the girls working there are pretty friendly. My kids ordered their usual jelly and boba teas and I tried the hot honey milk tea with pudding. It was okay. That said, in my experience, I think the Kung Fu Tea on Buford Highway has superior tea, toppings, and service compared to this location in Duluth. I'm still a fan though. The interior of this Kung Fu Tea is nicer than the interior of the Kung Fu Tea on Buford Highway. It's cleaner with more seating (seating capacity looks to be roughly 30-40 customers). There's a long wooden bench in front with high-top communal tables in the back. The space features faux hardwood floors, wood paneling along the bar, and Asian-looking wooden lanterns and light fixtures. Pagers are used for order pickups. These are nice if you're actually paged when your order is ready. Otherwise, if the staff forgets to page you (or the pagers aren't working correctly), you could be unknowingly leaving your orders out on the counter for several minutes, which is what happened to us one time. At the Buford Highway location, they just call your number when your order is ready. That simpler method seems to be more efficient to me. In the end, if I want Kung Fu Tea, I'll continue to visit the old reliable BuHi standby mainly because it's closer to where I live, but also because I think the BuHi location makes better quality tea on a more consist basis and it has better service. However, if I'm in Gwinnett, I wouldn't mind swinging by this location to get my fix. Kung Fu Tea Duluth opened September 2015 in McDaniel Square, the shopping plaza with Las Perlas, Orange Coffee, Don Soo Baek (Korean restaurant), MJ Korean Tacos & Wings, Thank U Chicken, Honey Pig, and Sushi Naru. It's the second Kung Fu Tea location to open in metro Atlanta following the Doraville (Buford Highway) location which opened December 2013. There's plenty of parking. I love this Kung Fu Tea! Kung Fu Tea as a chain itself isn't that popular back in California but it seems to be pretty popular in Duluth. Prior to COVID, there were always lines, especially on the weekends. The drinks here are consistent and the employees are always courteous. I can always rely on them to be good if I ever want boba. Even if they're extremely crowded with a lot of drinks in the queue, my drink still tastes the same and it comes out pretty fast. My favorite is their Winter Melon Green Milk Tea! A lot of places have a similar drink but KFT's is honestly the best of the lot. You definitely can't go wrong with most of their drinks. Their snacks are pretty good too! I've been to King Fu Tea twice and was very happy each time. I'm a fan of the Taro Bubble Tea. My first visit I had the small taro bubble tea and wanted ended up wanting more when it was gone. So my second visit I ordered the large tea $5.04 with tax. There is a $5 minimum if you want to use a credit card. The staff is always nice and and the process of ordering is quick. Whether you pay with cash or a credit card you receive a receipt that has a number which will be called when your order is ready. Another plus is you choose the amount of sugar and ice in your drink. My first visit I ordered the minimum amount of sugar and the regular amount of ice. Though it was quite good I decided on my second visit it forgo the sugar and it was still quite good. The Kung Fu Fighters are one of my favourite bands. Their biggest hit was "Learn To Fu" but I also really love "Ever-oolong." What to get: Lemon Black Tea, Hot Oolong Honey Black Milk Tea. The Taro Milk Green Tea is probably my favorite drink here, it's definitely one of the best tasting and better quality taro milk teas around. A milk cap is just a salty & sweet milk foam that you add to the top of your drink. When I'm craving something a little less heavy than a milk tea, I'll order either green tea or oolong tea with a milk cap, but you can order a milk cap on top of any drink. I think this is my favorite place for bubble tea in Atlanta. Places like Sweet Hut just can't compare when it comes to bubble tea honestly. You can actually taste the tea flavor in their teas here whereas Sweet Hut's drinks are so watered down. Plus they add a ton of ice. I usually get Peach Oolong Tea here with light ice. It's made just right and not too sweet. When I'm feeling a milk tea, I usually get KF Oolong Milk Tea or KF Milk Tea. They have such a good variety of tea flavors to choose from I'm sure you'll find something to your liking. I also really like their snacks too. I ordered the Taiwanese Fried Chicken last time and had them cut up to share with my friends. You can add extra seasoning yourself. It's really good! Very similar to the Taiwanese chicken nuggets most places serve. Their fish tofu is also really good. Only one thing to be aware of though, they don't accept credit cards unless your order is over $5. Really? Who even carries around cash anymore. My favorite boba tea in the Atlanta area, hands down. The staff at both locations is friendly and service is prompt and efficient. I was really happy when they opened a second location in Duluth because it's less than 10 minutes away from my home (their first location is located off of Buford hwy in doraville)! It is in the same plaza as Emily J (hair salon), honey pig (kbbq place), and orange coffee (coffee shop) off of Old Norcross Road. The interior of this place is very clean, as it is a new store. Upon walking in, there are tables and chairs and the register is towards the front and to the right side. It's more narrow and long and there is more seating as you continue to walk deeper into the shop. The Duluth area has a lot of different options for boba tea (quicklys, Saigon, sweet hut, boba mocha, etc) but I definitely like the boba from kung fu the best. It is always adjustable to my mood and taste and I can modify it however I want to. The boba is also always chewy and has great consistency. I've never had old or hard boba. I love the fact that you have the option to choose more or less sugar, ice, boba, and how accommodating they are (to those who are lactose intolerant, etc. thankfully, I'm not!). I do wish they had more noncaffeinated options (maybe a milk tea with no caffeine). When I want a cold drink, I almost always order the taro milk green tea (M:$3.25 / L:$4.25) with little sugar-- this drink is already a bit sweet due to the taro. When I want something warm, I always get the hot oolong milk tea ($4) with half sugar. It has a great nutty flavor that warms me up when it's cold outside. Just a heads up: *$5 minimum for credit cards. The staff at the Duluth location is awesome and so accommodating. They are extremely informative and try to assist if you are having a hard time choosing or if you are not familiar with their concept. They don't rush you and really make you feel like a valued customer. I forgot who helped me out the last time I was there, but he was at the cash register and was so nice and helpful. Will try to update the next time I go with his name. Like many of the other boba tea spots in the area, kung fu tea also offers different food items in addition to their beverages. Some of them include French fries, fried tofu, Taiwanese chicken nuggets, and fried mushrooms (ranging from about $3-$7). I have yet to try the food items but will write a review on it when I do.
