Here is THE killer combo: Bibimbap with brown rice and the spicy pork. I don't know what they do to the pork, but it is without a doubt the best thing I have ever eaten. This is now a must have any time I am in Seattle. Great service rounds out the experience. Freakin' awesome. read more

I had never had Korean food before giving this place a try, but am fairly sure that no place else will ever stack up. One rainy, hungover afternoon, I was laying in bed craving something hearty but not greasy. I was hurting so bad that I searched on Yelp for whatever restaurant was the absolute closest to my apartment, knowing any trek would be rough. Goldinblack was only .2 miles away and rated high. I had to google what every menu item was, but ended up settling for the bibimbap with spicy pork, per other Yelpers' recommendations. Brown rice, veggies, an egg, sauce, and spicy pork (AMAZING). This was just what the doctor ordered for my pain. I've been back several more times for this very dish, it is phenomenal. If you dine in, you can opt to have it served in a hot pot as well :) As an East Coaster, I've noticed a severe lack of delis in Seattle with interesting sandwich offerings. The most "outrageous" sandwich I see on any menu here is French dip...ha. BUT, Goldinblack has some unique sandwiches that will not disappoint. I love the #5 "Once in the Goldinblack", which has that awesome spicy pork, carmelized onions, broccoli, cabbage, cilantro, sauce, pepper jack, and provolone on ciabatta. Now that is an unexpected but surprisingly delicious combination. This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't judge a book....the food is brilliant. Also, the girl that works there is a total sweetheart. read more

They are so nice here. The world needs more of this! In 2014 and in a very food centric town I think we tend to forget the importance of a warm welcome and attentive service. Sure they have never been busy when I've dined here but I get the feeling that even if they were service would come with a smile...a genuine one. I loved the bibimbap. It was the perfect amount of food. read more

They are open again! They closed for many months for a remodel (the apartments above them were demolished and are being rebuilt) but they are back to serving the same delicious food they always have. I've never had a bad meal here and the people who work here are the nicest around. The Kimchi Spicy Pork Tacos are my go-to and I cant recommend them enough. Give them a try! read more

I love that their focus is on having healthy clean ingredients. They have a really interesting fusion menu and i think everyone can find something they like. I find that they have a new special dish to suggest everytime I stop by and respect the effort and drive to create super interesting fusion dishes. read more

Nope - not one of the best places. The lady gave me lots of rice with hardly any meat and veggies. First and last time to go there. Not only the food was not good, I now have bathroom runs because the food was not hygiene. Avoid this place if you can and don't take risk with your health. read more

I feel like the reviews hyped things up for me and my friends. We had really high expectations, but when we arrived to the café and ordered our food, it was less than impressive. There weren't many people in there, first of all, but our food came out really slow. I think it was because of the rush of take-out orders they had, but they could've prioritized a little better with getting our food out before the take-out people since we were there before they even called. I would recommend the SuJeongGwa (Korean cinnamon punch drink) if you are into cinnamon flavors, and also the Melona Bubbly (ice cream in a drink?! so cute). We did the happy hour type of menu so all items were under $5 unless you added extra sides or what not. What I would recommend: Kimchi Pajun (pancake): We probably liked it because it was fried and crunchy Bulgolgi Beef Tacos: No real complaints on this one. They could've maybe warmed up the tortilla they used as the taco holder but it tasted good. Kimchi Fried Rice (you should add cheese or a fried egg): Pretty onion heavy and I think would've been better with some kimichi daikon/radish Veggie Ramyun: Also a bit onion heavy but the noodles were nice in texture and the broth was hot and spicy in a good way. What I wouldn't recommend: Korean Hot Wings-you only get 4 pieces and they aren't even seasoned that well. Yes there is this hot sauce on top but it didn't really marinate into the chicken and was a little mushy. Tteokbokki: The sauce was way to watery and they didn't add the usual fish cake I'm used to from other places. I'm not used to seeing broccoli or potato in my rice cake dish so that threw me off too. We added cheese to the order as well, but it was a white sort of cheese and I wish they would've added cheddar or something else. Though the food was just okay the service was good and the lady working behind the counter was really nice. I think I'll have to give this place another shot to see if the food quality is better and to see if maybe they just had an off day. Hopefully it will be a better experience. read more

Thank you fellow yelpers for this great find! The place is rather nondescript, but their food and service more than adequately compensates for that. We ordered a very tasty tofu salad and spicy pork ramen - very flavorful, fresh tasting, and better than some Japanese ramen shops. Service was prompt and helpful, but not excessively in your face - just the way I like it. Great value, an awesome place to warm up especially in a cloudy, cold Seattle day :-) read more

GoldinBlack - Chicken Galbi Bibimbap.over white rice. Absolutely delicious! - Sandwiches Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Service The service was decent. Food My wife, who is Korean, leaves the following comments. Seafood pancake: best thing we ordered. Fresh seafood and a good quantity. Soon dubu soup: sad. Not how this dish is supposed to be prepared. Even the flavor was lacking. Beef and veggie sizzling platter: Angus beef was used but was tough and not enjoyable. Flavor was okay but the chunks of meat were so tough, it made my jaw hurt. Bibimbapp, sizzling bowl: didn't come out sizzling and didnt have the burnt rice at the bottom like it should have. Got the spicy pork which was tasty but like the beef, too tough! read more

Our first night here in Seattle and looking for something fresh and tasty. This place is just blocks down the street from our hotel. Menu looked good, so we went on in. Hubby ordered bulgogi ramen with pork, I got the Japchaebop with tofu, brown rice, and avocado served in a sizzling stone bowl. I can honestly say this was one of the best meals I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Vegetables were abundant and fresh, tofu silken and deliciously coated in a spicy chili sauce, and the noodles and rice provided the perfect backdrop for all this healthy goodness. The sizzling bowl kept my food steaming hot down to the last bite, and I am a very poky eater. Hubby's ramen looked equally delicious. I tried a spoonful and the broth was savory with noodles cooked to just the right level of chewy tenderness. I am here for a few more days and I just might need to go back for one more meal! read more

GoldinBlack - Japchaebop with brown rice, tofu and avocado. Oh so good on a chilly Seattle evening. - Sandwiches Near Me - Seattle, Washington

If you're looking for really authentic Korean food, you're not going to find it here. If you're looking for good Korean food with an American zing, you'll enjoy this place. It's definitely a hole in the wall place, we almost missed it! There's street parking and depending on the time, parking on lower Queen Anne can be a pain. The interior is really basic, we didn't get ice in our water which was odd to me. But the service was great and the food came out promptly. My roommate has been talking about this place for a few months and I decided to give it a try with a couple of girlfriends. She raves about the bulgogi volcano sandwich but I didn't try it, I wasn't in a sandwich mood. The photos that people have posted look great though! My friends and I ordered: (Main menu) Jjigae(spicy Korean soup) with tofu and and egg - it came packed with tofu, it's definitely a large amount and you can share it with your friends. Spicy pork bulgogi and kimchi bulgogi with guksu- pork and kimchi was good, guksu lacked flavor but it would be good if you're not in a rice mood l Dupbap with spicy pork, kale and kimchi - not a huge fan of kale so I took it out but it was nice that it came steamed. The pork has a lot of flavor, and it was tender! (Beverage friend menu) -- this is a menu of small plates you can order if you're ordering something from the main menu OR a drink. It's sort of like a happy hour menu: Fried Korean pancake - a little over cooked for my taste but still tasty Bulgogi hand rolls w/ beef - really delicious, I loved this! Tteokbokki (Korean rice cakes) - really good and spicy (it didn't come with any meat but it did come with veggies) Everyone gets a complimentary salad and cold Korean pancake plate to share. The salad dressing was kind of a smokey, soy sauce type dressing Overall I had a nice experience here and I'd come here again if I was in the area. I really want to try the bulgogi volcano sandwich. read more

Ever since I've moved away from the East Coast I craved Korean home cooking, and this restaurant hit all of my crave buttons for the first time in what feels like forever. The rice cake soup is one of the most flavorful broths I've ever had, and the spicy rice cake dish had a deliciously sweet, spicy, and savory flavor that I never thought I'd ever enjoy again. Not to mention the generosity with the rice cake, dumplings, and seafood in my dishes. And I've never felt so welcomed in a Korean restaurant than now, which made eating here even more enjoyable. I will definitely continue to come back here anytime I'm craving Korean food, and I'm sure that will happen plenty now that I know there's a place with quality I can trust. read more

We ordered a kimchi pancake but they instead brought us some omelet with steak on it. I told the server we ordered a kimchi pancake but she was confused. I'm like, surely we all know what a kimchi pancake is at a Korean restaurant?? She kept trying to tell me it WAS a kimchi pancake. I'm like..this is an actual omelet with steak on top. This couldn't be further from a kimchi pancake. The entrees were similarly disappointing. We tried to eat the food but neither one of us could stomach more than a few bites. Luckily, they didn't make us pay since all the food was untouched. read more

I had little experience with Korean food before GoldinBlack. I do, however have a ton of experience with food.. I have now eaten in once here and gotten takeout once. The eat in experience was great. The atmosphere is that of a cute small-time restaurant. The server is very polite and friendly. What a genuine smile! The food is A-MAY-ZING. I got the bibimbap both times and OMIGOSH it is SO good! Honestly I never review places on Yelp but the absolutely amazing service and food here has made me do it. This place deserves 5 stars the wait staff is incredibly lovely. We got the food on Uber eats a week (the bibimbap escape and sweet potato noodle dish) ago and it was so good we had to come try it in person (got the bibimbap escape again as well as the veggie dumpling ramen) !! So so many amazing vegetarian options! Often as a vegetarian I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of the best Korean dishes, but NOT HERE. okay that's all. You should definitely eat here. Got the pork bulgogi dupbap with brown rice. I'm so happy that this places offers the option for brown rice for no extra charge! My guy friend got the bibimbap and it seemed like that it was much larger than my dupbap. I am kicking myself for not bringing my Dad when he was in town. GoldinBlack is a great introduction to Korean food for someone who wants something new and delicious but well inside their comfort zone. What it lacks in the traditional Korean appetizers (pickled wares, brought out in small dishes throughout) it makes up for in customization; you can get an egg, kimchi, or most kinds of meat on anything you want, and they have ample vegetarian options. Plus, sandwiches! It was a typical Seattle day, so we all opted for comfort broths and noodles. Embarassed to say I've never tried mandu guk before, thanks to GoldinBlack it's one of my new favorite dishes! Boyfriend got the kimchi jap chae: WOW. What a spicy treat for a soggy Saturday. Since we arrived at a strange hour, it was thankfully empty and welcoming. We were served a small order of pa jun (korean pancake) upon sitting down. With a great selection of bottled beer, I imagine it gets pretty crowded for lunch. The price was right, our bellies left full, and we all resolved to dine again at GoldinBlack soon. read more

This place was amazing. I know next to nothing about Korean cuisine, but I do know when food tastes delicious, and this definitely fit the bill. The restaurant itself is very small - maybe 8 or so nicely arranged tables crowded into a small space. The benefit of the small area is that the smell of the cooking food wafts over to where you sit, preparing your stomach for the glorious meal that is about to occur. I got the Korean rice cakes and they were so good - and I got a good amount of food for the price, which is always something I can appreciate. I'll definitely have to hit this place up for the happy hour other reviewers are talking about, but it definitely holds its own for a regular dinner. read more

We've been eating here for years and always end the meal happy and satisfied. Very authentic Korean flavors, make the menu easy to explore without disappointment. I ordered tofu bibimbap. There's not a lot of vegetables given with it. No banchan. Expensive for what it is-- a ball of rice with some lettuce and other forgetful sides. I'm vegan, so the only thing I can eat at korean places is bibimbap. Based on this dish alone, I will not be back. If you eat meat or something maybe those other dishes will be better. read more

Yum. So happy to find a place that served Korean food that wasn't north in Shoreline. Had the Thursday special which was the spicy pork bibimbap. $7.95! Yummy food and great service. For starters we got a miso type soup that had tofu and zucchini along with a small salad topped with a very tasty dressing. I got a sizzling Bibimbap with beef and brown rice. The flavors were delicious. I like how some of the rice got crispy. We also got their volcano sand which. Man was it spicy but packed with flavor! The bread was delicious and the beef was very flavorful. This is something I would have never gotten myself so I'm glad my honey did or we would have missed out on this tasty sandwich. Lastly we also tried their avocado hand roll. Very much like a sushi hand roll a see weed wrap with rice, kimchi, avocado and veggies. It was just meh. All in all we were satisfied ;) read more

I could not believe how overpriced this place is. My partner ordered a plate of tofu in bean paste with slivers of vegetable and an egg. It costed more than $20 and he was still hungry. I ordered 'Jin Ramen' with slivers of vegetables and tiny amount of seafood, which costed almost $20. Serious! I could have sworn it was Jin Ramen they served me. Don't get me wrong! I love Jin Ramen, but I would never pay more than $5 for it in a restaurant even with slivers if frozen vegetables and seafood. The freshest part in my ramen was one scallop. One real fresh scallop, which I supposed cost about $15, everything else was litterally an expensive joke, trying to fool us non-Koreans. Another thing they tried to jib us is the complimentary appetizer it came with. It was a cute bowl with few slivers of lettuce and 2 small pieces of the Korean pancake with only the dough part, in some unremarkable flavored soysauce. If I'm going to be charged $20 for embellished instant noodle or a plate of tofu, shouldn't I at least get a table full of complimentary appetizers which Korean restaurants usually serve? At least give me some kimchee! I am certain this restaurant is trying to maximize their profit by cheating the unsuspecting customers. However, I must say, the waitress was very sweet, which is why I gave one more star than I originally intended. read more
