Left: steamed shrimp, chicken, scallops and vegies. Right: supposed to be hot and spicy chicken. No brown sauce for the food on the left. Same sauce for both, receipt is correct. Very disappointed

a pile of fried food on a plate
Taryn S.

We have tried all of the local Chinese places in the area and this is hands down the best! Way, way better. It's exactly what I want from a small, family-owned Chinese restaurant. We have never ordered delivery - we always pick up since we live close by - so I cannot comment on delivery. The food is always extremely hot, portions are generous, and everything we've had is delicious. We love the garlic chicken, lo mein, sweet & sour chicken, sesame chicken, crab Rangoon - I could go on. They also have a few coupons for free menu items if you spend over a certain amount (check their website). This is my first choice when I have a craving for Chinese food. Don't waste your time at any of the other places in Burnsville or Apple Valley. Golden Wok is the best!

What there fried rice tasted like
Luther T.

Fried rice taste like Uncle Ben's™. Also had general chicken not the crunchy kind more smooth and soft outside good flavor and beef and broccoli was ok.

Flavorless fried rice
Nick M.

Food was flavorless and cheaply made The fried rice is the worst fried rice that I've ever had. There was no egg or vegetables in the fried rice and about 5 tiny pieces of chicken with absolutely no flavor. Cream cheese wantons, again no flavor and not fried long enough to get that nice browned crispy outside. It was literally just a clump of cream cheese in the middle with mo seasoning or green onion. Lemon chicken sauce tasted like lemon and corn starch, again flavorless! Lastly it took well over an hour to get our food! $50 plus later, very unsatisfying! Would not recommend!

Sesame Chicken

Highly disappointed in this place. We ordered food for delivery, the sesame chicken & chicken udon noodles. I couldn't even finish what I put on my plate it was so bad. The sesame chicken were just balls of mushy breading with small bits of chicken in there. No crisp at all to the breading and the small amount of chicken that was in there was slimy and not good. The chicken udon noodles had very little chicken in it. Small bits with too much sauce and overly cooked noodles. This was my first & last time ever eating food from Golden Wok.

There is no way this was an accident

I hope I can leave a zero star review while the food was initially ok at best, I tried thave the leftovers tonight. I found a huge wad of hair in the beef and broccoli that we had saved from Sunday night this is absolutely disgusting and inexcusable for a restaurant to not have a better quality control. This is such so much hair that it has to be deliberate. I'll never eat there again

Moo Goo Gui Pan. 2/10.

I had the Moo Goo Gui Pan. I woke up three times during the night with the worst dry mouth ever. No matter what I drank it didn't help. Way way too much salt. I could not finish it. Add in mail said new owners. I think they get new owners every year looking at the adds, menus, reviews and photos. Or at least they say they are new. . I got suckered in. Place was messy and dirty inside. I have it a two since I was able to eat a couple of the lousy Buffalo wings. Soggy and not crispy.

Sesame chicken (drowned in sauce)

***not good!!*** So I decided to venture out and try a different Chinese food restaurant and went to golden wok which I've seen advertisement for. I ordered the sesame chicken, Kong pao chicken, cream cheese wonton and the orange chicken with vegetable rice. I'd you ever eat at a real authentic Chinese restaurant you know you rate the restaurant off the taste and quality of their rice. Which is very true and restaurant who have bad tasting rice dishes usually have horrible food. So after receiving our food we first tried the vegetable friend rice. Horrible. ... the rice is dry, very little flavor, the vegetables don't have a good taste. The vegetables taste like they were added in at the last minute and not sautéed or cooked with the rice. Next we tried the kang pao chicken. Oh my. First off this dish along with all the dishes were drenched in sauce, the chicken was very rubbery!! And the flavor was not there. Did not have much of any spice to it at all!! Next we tried the sea same chicken. (Again drenched in sauce). Was way to sweet, like it has a sugary glaze on the chicken, very thick and heavy. Then half the container was filler with broccoli. So I only got 1/2 container of meat?! Very disappointing. Next was orange chicken. Once again drenched in sauce this one way too much!! The sauce was almost a lemon taste more than a orange taste. Taste very much like food additives and Flavor additives. Not a good flavor. Made of dark meat chicken, bad cuts of chicken at that. They also stuffed some broccoli in about 1/4!of the plate too. So where's the chicken I ordered al a cart? Again very disappointing. Last but not least the iconic chroma cheese wontons. These were the most disgusting wontons I have ever had in my life. They were runny inside and tasted like some kind of. Icing off a cake. Very sweet and sugary!! I will never order from here again. I don't want to advertise another returns tonight this review but if you'd like recommendations on Chinese retardants please check out my other reviews. Thanks.

Food used to be on the better end for the area. It appears to have changed to low end low quality food.

(Loved chatting with her, miss her.) Several times I saw whole HUGE beautifully roasted and decorated entire pigs sold out the door for private parties! EVERYONE came back then from EVERYWHERE! She was " famous" state wide for having the BEST DUCK. She had delicious big bowls of noodle duck soup too! Her roast duck and roast or barbecued pork were New York City Chinatown quality!!!!! ( I grew up & worked in NewYork for 40 years) Sadly she passed away and about 5 years ago I slowly saw the quality portion size cooking process and especially taste/flavor in the seasoning and marinating almost disappear. I wrote about this on my last trip from Florida where I moved 5 years ago. We permanently moved back to MN 1/26 and just returned to House of Wu today. OUTSTANDING.... Perfect Juicy. Just like in her original old days! Yay! Finally. Today the dining room was filled with 10 older and a few younger family and staff- - an EXCELLENT sign that her original recipes and wonderful care and quality of preparation HAVE RETURNED. Thank you. Thank you family.

Easier to call ahead. Back when it was dine in there was barely anyone there. Taste has been consistent for many years. they are not friendly but the food makes up for it. Prices definitely went up but it's still the best deal around. We still order for our holiday parties. Lately we've just been ordering when we crave it. I've always loved how the restaurant actually looks like a house, makes me wonder if anyone is living upstairs.

I recently ordered some takeout from this restaurant (pork egg rolls, moo goo gai pan, and sweet &…read moresour chicken). Overall, the food was great! I really liked the egg rolls -- you can tell they are made in house. They're chocked full of ingredients and are a good size. The moo goo gai pan had good amount of both chicken and vegetables. The sweet & sour chicken was tasty. There were large pieces of breaded white meat chicken already doused in sauce. I prefer my dish that way -- I don't like when the sauce is on the side. The dish also included vegetables. I ordered via their website and scheduled a pick up -- the order was ready on time. I would recommend if you're looking for some decent Chinese food in the Burnsville area.

Quite the surprise. Had it not been for the great reviews I would've never guessed that this place…read morewould be as good as it was. I've driven by this location multiple times and thought it was an abandoned building. So when I read about it online in my hunt for a true Cantonese style eggroll I was shocked to find out that this was the place when I pulled up. When I try to enter I discovered that they are currently only doing takeout only in the after order ahead. The interior looks like it has been re-decorated in over 25 years ago and they still have a cigarette machine. So I don't say these things as judgments but they were concerns but in-spite of it I ordered anyways. When I got home With my reservations about my order I discovered that I had in fact found a new hidden gem. I had the sweet-and-sour pork with Kenny's deli rolls and they were excellent. The food reminded me of the Cantonese restaurants that I used to eat at back home in the Chicago area.
