The view is pretty and the drinks are nice but if you come here for the food I'm afraid you'll find it overpriced and bland. Don't let the presentation fool you underneath the pretty facade you'll find nothing but disappointment and the need for salt. Have to agree with other reviewers, the service here was not good. The young lady with blond hair who was our server definitely had a snotty attitude. Took a while to get drinks and bread. When she came with our food it was almost thrown at us. She was very nice to the table next to us who were some Italian celebrities. We were just tourists, so we obviously didn't make her cut. Ok got that off my chest. The food was delicious but more style than substance if you weren't having pasta. I had the lamb dish and it was very good. Overall the place seemed to be pretentious. However, the Ragu with savory tomato sauce was a damn saviour with a well-made pappardelle/tagliatelle and a well-made beef. The location itself was brightly lit and oversaw a waterway. After visiting the Giardino di Boboli, my girlfriend and I stopped in here for lunch. This restaurant was recommended in Rick Steves' Florence and Tuscany guidebook. We probably wouldn't have given this place a chance if Rick Steves hadn't recommended it. It's a modern and trendy bistro with an amazing view of Ponte Vecchio and the Arno. Without his recommendation, we would have thought it's another tourist trap. Glad that we checked out this place. Their food was great but I wouldn't call it amazing. The view, on the other hand, was just stunning; it almost makes you feel they built Ponte Vecchio just for you. Both their food and service were also solid. My sister has been eyeing this place for a couple of weeks. Since she's studying abroad for the semester she has been trying to find nice places to go that are a mix of good food and elegance. While the place was elegant, the food was 1/10 for 3/4 individuals at our table. Specifically for me I ordered the Black Tail Salmon that was supposed to come with almonds (I counted precisely 2 1/2 almonds). The salmon was lox pieces and salad consisted of romain leaves. I couldn't even taste the lemon dressing. In addition, I asked for no cheese due to an allergy and the server brought it anyways because "it's good for you". Seriously!Do not come! I am a tourist and I think One star is too much for Golden View Open Bar. I strongly advise everyone not to go! First of all, the waiter's attitude is particularly bad! I ordered the steak three times and said it very clearly. The result did not come for an hour. Also I ordered a 36 euro shrimp, 5 shrimp, half a baked eggplant, especially not delicious to eat. Also the view is just so so for me, on the bridge the view is better than 1000 times. Do not come to this restaurant please. If you have other choice, do not choose golden view open bar! Also the view... you are on the wrong side of the bridge so you don't get a sunset view. You are below the highest point of the bridge so you see nothing! We stumbled on this place accidentally as we were hungry and it turned out to be quite a good choice. Their lunch menu had something for everyone. They also had a wine flight if you can't choose. In-between the lunch rush, we were able to get a nice view of the river and the ponte vecchio. This is a great place to get off your feet and people watch. Having looked for a decent restaurant with not the usual tourist rip off, we found nearby the famous Ponte Vecchio the Golden View Open Bar. Having opened in April 2002 the design is quite modern and in total the restaurant comes with three areas - the main restaurant, the winebar and the pizzeria. Though the whole location is rather big, it might be better to reserve your table beforehand as especially after 9.00pm it becomes a bit crowded. Reasons for this are not merely the food which ranges from typical Tuscan cuisine to light Mediterranean, but more the unmatched view at the Ponte Vecchio and the Torre di Arnolfo, with the Galleria degli Uffizi on the right and the Corridoio Vasariano opposite the river Arno. The waiters are very attentive, which does not stop after the complimentary sparkling wine at the entrance, and you can enjoy some great modern artworks as well besides the sight and the food. Afterwards we learned that from time to time also some live jazz sessions are held in this place. read more

We were very disappointed with our experience here. The food is great but the service is horrible. We were told to come here from a friend because it was the most romantic restaurant and we are on our honeymoon! We made a reservation 4 months in advance and mentioned several times that we were coming on our honeymoon very excited to spend a dinner here. When we got here, there was no mention of our honeymoon. They placed us at a random table and the service was quite mediocre. We sat there with our waters empty for a long time, we even had to ask for olive oil and balsamic vinegar! The people around us all got olive oil & balsamic without having to ask and overall the waiters were very short with us while talking a lot friendlier to the other guests. We are not ones to leave bad reviews but really felt that people should know more about this place. We definitely do not recommend this restaurant. We left here very sad as it's our last night in Italy and we were expecting it to be much better. read more

Are you looking for some tasty food at a great location? Do you have a lot of extra cash? If you said yes, this place may have your answer. This place is near Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River, and I thought I had one of the tastiest lunches in Italy. I have not been to the restaurant, but I have been to the neighbouring cafe that is down the street called "Via dei Bardi". The cafe is called "O Cafe" and it is part of the Golden View restaurant with the "O" logo. I walked inside, and decided to sit at the bar area of the cafe, because I had a feeling that if I sat at the tables by the windows, I may get charged more. The drinks may also be expensive as well so I just got water. I ordered a couple of small sandwiches. One had a really flat bread, the other had a somewhat thicker bread, oval shaped, and looked like a really thick cracker. They both had ham and cheese. They were really tasty sandwiches, and two of them can make a light lunch. The bread was really good, nice and a little toasty. I also liked the melted cheese. As for pastries, I think they do a great job. I had a cannoli, doused in powdered sugar, with some chocolate ships inside. The ricotta cheese had a nice creaminess. It was probably one the tastiest cannoli I had so far. Interior is really nice, the cafe had a very Modern European look, and I thought the servers were attentive and they can actually speak good English. Prices are a little high, but I think I spent less than €10 on those sandwiches and cannoli. Overall, I thought I had some of the tastiest sandwiches and cannoli in Florence, and I really liked the interior and location. The prices of the food may be higher than a lot of places that the local Italians would go, but the location is great, and they offer great views of the Arno River and Ponte Vecchio. This is probably a great choice for a dinner appointment, but be prepared to spend a lot of money on food. read more

The food here is excellent! The freshest seafood I've had any where! You can taste it in the consistency of the mussels and mixed seafood in the spaghetti allo scoglio. I will be preaching the freshness of this place to everyone in the States for days to come. It gets quite crowded, and the space between tables can be tight (might be a European thing) so make a reservation if you can. I actually did not have a reservation and was able to get a table for two around 7pm on a Tuesday. So you can try your luck! Service was good. Took awhile to pay for the bill, but that's because this place was bustling. Servers do speak English, and I noticed almost all the patrons around me were speaking English, both the US and UK. A favorite for tourists I'm sure since the view to the Ponte Vecchio was simply gorgeous. Restaurants like these make me wish I was a baller so I could fly to Florence solely for dinner here. read more

What can I say: delicious! Tried somon fumé as an appetizer: amazing! I normally don't like smoked salmon without anything else, but this one was amazing! My husband had the risotto with porcini mushrooms and myself spaghetti pomodoro: simply WOW! Both of them very good! To add on top of the good food: a nice view over Ponte Vecchio and the river! This place is just a little slice of heaven ... a very modernesque restaurant with the view of the bridge & river in Florence called "Ponte Vecchio"! The food was delicious & worth every euro ... the beef carpaccio was unbelievably good with truffles and olive oil. I had the risotto with pecorino, pesto, and foie gras. We were at Ponte Vecchio and decided to check it out and view the menu. We were greeted warmly and we said we wanted to come for jazz and food the next evening, and the woman booked our reservation for 8:30. When we arrived, we were Immediatley offered glasses of Prosecco while waiting for the maitre d' and within a minute or two were escorted to a view table in the back room where the excellent jazz trio was already playing. Cocktails, food and service were excellent, and what a great view of the Ponte Vecchio and Arno. This is fine dining, and the prices reflect the quality of the experience. We were so excited for this restaurant after looking at the menu and location but unfortunately the waiter really soured our experience. He was very rude from the beginning til the end. We had to ask for water multiple times and when we tried to pick wines in our price level he would bring us more expensive ones in it's place. Then one of our courses (linguine vongole) tasted very fishy, not fresh, and just 'off' "...not edible to the point we were concerned we would get sick if we continued to eat it. Everyone in my party (all vongole lovers) tasted my dish and agreed it wasn't right. So we told our server and he actually had the nerve to argued with us, rudely insisting it was fine (without even trying it)! We asked him to take it away and replace it with another pasta dish, which he reluctantly did. But then when we received our check he had charged us for the vongole dish! When I pointed it out he said "you didn't like it but it wasn't a bad plate." So he refused to deduct the dish from our check. What ever happened to 'customer is always right?' They also charged us an additional 15% service fee which we've never seen in any of the fine dining restaurants we've eaten. The rest of the dishes were satisfactory, but we would not return for sure. The hefty price tag is not worth the experience (and it's not that we aren't willing to pay for good food and service ). This place will never be worthy of a Michelin Star rating. read more

I had to come back to write about this -- I ordered the pan seared tuna steak here and it was one of the most amazing things I've ever had in my life; and by far the most amazing tuna I've ever had.
