Great service, very fast and helped me with multiple items. Gave me a free keychain as well.

Told a tech would call, received a call back saying they don't have have anyone. Certainly not a 24/7 operation

DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE. Requested to just change the cylinder in my lock and they wouldn't give me an estimate over the phone because apparently they had to look at the lock first. One guy transferred me to another guy who transferred me to another guy. After I got transferred to the first "technician" they told me to take a photo of the lock and key but then after that guy transferred me to the next person, he said a photo won't matter because he has to look at it in person. They ended up replacing the cylinder but why was it $400... these services should only cost around 100-200 MAX. Then he gave me a link to review him on Google and tell me why the company that the link leads me to is a completely different company??? His company was Yellow Diamond Locksmith. Then he kept messaging me to give him a 5-star review multiple times. read more

DO BOT USE THEM. Please do not use this predatory service. Was charged 700 on simply getting into my apartment. There is no reasonable charge for this and the company is clearly aware of the predatory nature of this work. Find a reputable locksmith or friend first, I can certainly say this entire experience left me unsatisfied with them and I will be sure to let everyone I know to NEVER use this shoddy place. To make matters worse, after charging me such an exorbitant amount, the mess made by the person who came by left sharp metal shavings that had to be cleaned up. read more

DO NOT CALL THEM !!!! My underage son and I are from the UK and we rented an airbnb. While I was at work, my son got locked out the house because the lock broke. He called, and they charged him $730 FOR 1 MINUTE of work. All they did was insert a tool. That is RIDICULOUS. They also pressured him into leaving a good review on their website that has no delete/removal button read more

Steven was extremely helpful with replicating the keys that I needed and he replicated them for me in minutes before needing to go to work!

Super friendly, fast service and very convenient in the neighborhood. Good value for the service as well

Steven and his staff were fantastic! I had a wonky key that couldn't be copied and he went the extra mile to look up the building management and helped me find out the proper key needed. Copied within 30 seconds. Highly recommend. Great service :) read more

I needed some keys made and no "key makers" around me were able to do it. I found this place online and they assured me they would be able to do it. They have all sorts of machines for various types of keys! Sure enough, Steven and his office assistant solved my issue!. ! I'm so happy . Thank you! read more

Actual highway robbery. Needed a simple lock opened and they charged me over $1K. Took them literally 20 minutes. They will tack on as many random surprise charges as they can and never give you an accurate estimate of the price. They charge extra for coming at night but don't even bother trying to get around that by scheduling for the morning - will cost you an extra $100 too! They were fast but at what cost. I wish I found somewhere that treated customers with dignity and gave the curtesy of actually having prices. I feel incredible angry and taken advantage of for my experience here. Do not call them - find someone else. 03474866862 read more

I have an antique lock in my apartment closet. The key is missing. I went to Golden Key Locksmith with the lockset that I took out of the door. They solved my problem for free. Can't beat the price. They could have charged me. They are honest and generous and knowledgeable. read more

The best lock smith ever! Super convenient and reliable! Decent price too- never too expensive

I had a terrible experience with Golden Key. My lock was malfunctioning late last night, rendering me unable to get inside. I didn't think I could afford a locksmith, but given that this was an emergency, my mother offered to help as much as she was able. I chose Golden Key because they promised transparency on their website, but on the phone they didn't give me any kind of price point. I was obviously upset, and perhaps hard to understand, but that should've give n me pause. Golden Key promised they'd arrive in thirty to forty minutes, but the technician (Moshe? signed "M" in receipt and automated text said that was my technician) showed up an hour and a half after I had been confirmed for service. I had already been locked out for over an hour when I called the locksmith. Upon his arrival, I had to wait for him downstairs because he was smoking a cigarette. When he came upstairs and took a look at my lock, he quoted me $475, which I was clear I couldn't afford. I was made to feel like there was no other option-- he even quoted another solution at $1,000, which I was adamantly clear I could not afford, and briefly talked about tacking on an extra $100. I was exhausted, obviously upset, and therefore easy to take advantage of. When the door was opened, the technician insisted on $475. When I called my mother, she was equally shocked by this price, and asked to speak to him. M proceeded to blame me, saying that I "could've sent him away if I couldn't afford it." I don't think that's how you need to speak to anyone you're doing business with, much less someone in distress at 5:00 AM with no sleep. This locksmith was the only person who had responded to my emergency, so I naturally felt it would've been counterintuitive to send him away. It is an understatement to say that he also knew this. M insisted that the payment had to be in cash, and told me to go withdraw it from the ATM downstairs and across the street if I didn't have it. He stood outside and watched me while I withdrew the money. I insisted upon a receipt before I handed over payment, and on it he wrote it was an "after hours emergency." If a locksmith services promotes itself as a 24-hour solution to emergencies, how can any service be after hours? I felt manipulated and exhausted by the end of this transaction. I would not recommend this business to anyone, especially someone experiencing an emergency or distress. read more

Do not call them if you need a locksmith. Imagine 2:15am, and you are waiting on a locksmith. You call several times to check on the arrival and the dispatcher says, "let me check and I'll call you back." They never call back, so you call again. Imagine it's 3:27am. This is me. read more

Horrible Experience - Do Not Use Goldkey Locksmith! If I could give Goldkey Locksmith zero stars, I would! We had a terrible experience with this company after being locked out of our apartment. Their website promises transparency about pricing, but that's a blatant lie. When we called, they refused to give us a clear quote, saying they "don't have a fixed fee." Red flag number one. After waiting over an hour for a technician (despite their website stating they'd arrive in 20-30 minutes), we were met with the rudest, most unprofessional person I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. This technician not only showed up late but also seemed completely uninterested in helping us. His attitude was beyond unpleasant. To make matters worse, after spending a ridiculous amount of time looking at our lock, he misdiagnosed the problem. And then slapped us with an outrageous $125 fee just for showing up and getting it WRONG. No solution, no help--just a hefty bill and a whole lot of frustration. I can't believe companies like this get away with such awful service. They are dishonest, overpriced, and completely unreliable. Save yourself the headache and steer clear of Goldkey Locksmith! read more

This company is a front for several bogus companies that will come in an emergency when you know you are at their mercy and then screw you to the wall. Golden key is not the company of record when they answer your call. I was locked out of my store in mid town manhattan at 11:00 AM. It took them all of an hour to fix the problem and then charged $1363.00 The online charge reciept has no company name, no address or phone number. The owner is Steven Gruenstein who has set this up with outside guys who show up when he calls them but he denies this. He uses his store as a front.. He uses other phone numbers that he answers and does his dirty work. I have contested the charge with my cc company and spoken to him and he denies. His online receipt for payment has no co. name, address or phone number. Stay away. read more

I had a great experience with this company. Steven asked me a couple of pertinent questions regarding the company I first selected based on price. It got me thinking. The next day, subcontractor of that company bumped me from my slot to go on another call. I was scheduled to leave town the following day. That greatly diminished my trust because he wasn't honest about it initially. i called Golden Key. Steven sent a rep out to install a new lock for me right away. I left town knowing that my mom was safe. read more

literally the biggest ripoff. $479 for what? to drill a hole in my doorknob?? it is highway robbery, on top of that when my super came by the next way to replace the lock he said they didn't even do it correctly. Fantastic, lightning fast service! Takes them about 10 seconds to make a duplicate key!

Update in 2011: a new lock installation at another location wasn't as pleasant as my first experience... but getting copies made at the store remains quick and easy. This place came highly recommended from someone who takes care of lots of property. I arranged an appointment with Golden Key for a lock installation and their service was fast, efficient and very professional! Ely even fixed and further diagnosed another lock that was having problems. I would definitely call them again for future lock work :) read more
