Quiet on a weekend AM. Staff is really helpful and courteous. Vibe is chill with ample space given the small interior. We tried a medley of items - their gf loaves, a couple of their breakfast sandwiches, and of course some coffee to wash it all down. Everything was tasty, although the eggs in the sandwiches could use some seasoning. Great use, and not your run-of-the-mill ingredients for their standard set of offerings. Price point feels high for this area, but maybe its a necessity for their ingredients. Overall, a very enjoyable breakfast. I wish more establishments had such tasty food with the low-key environment - but maybe that makes this place that much more of a gem! read more

This niche cafe is tiny with a few equally tiny tables but as my friend pointed out, it's quite photogenic. Very nice decor details. You order your items and pay for everything at the counter and then find a table. That being said, while the dishes were very prettily presented, they lacked seasoning. I come here quite often. I get my apple ginger soda, take a seat get my laptop out and get to work. Today i decided after the week i had it was time to start my weekend of self care. And it was not at all disappointing. The fried chicken sandwich -- huh?! That crunch was amazing, the chicken was nice and moist and the perfect contrast to the batter. The pickled cabbage and Aleppo sauce were great (although the person taking my order could've done a better job describing it). The bun wasn't my favorite, but it held together for the important stuff. I also had the Arnold Palmer with hibiscus rose tea. It was tasty but it wasn't sweet. Definitely a tasty flavorful experience. We ordered two sandwiches: the chicken sausage and egg sandwich and the smoked salmon and trout roe sandwich. Two totally different but delicious experiences. Salmon and trout was soft and salty, chicken sausage and egg was greasy and creamy. I LOVED the pickled peppers and chopped cornichons in the mayo based sauce on the chx sausage sandwich. It was vinegary and tart and great for such a greasy sandwich. I didn't care for the chopped almonds. They reminded me of the texture of undercook rice, as in not pleasant. But I think that could totally be a personal pet peeve and would recommend you still go for it. Adorable little space for an early morning coffee date. Not much seating, in the sense that people pack in like sardines and with only about 12-15 seats available, you're gonna have to keep your eyes peeled or take it home if you live close by. The food here is delicious and it's a great place to just hang out and catch up with a friend. I would definitely return even though the service was not so great. I'm giving the rude waitress a pass cause life can happen and everyone can have an off day. I gave it four stars because of the waitress, she messed up my and my friend's order and then said she's going to have them redo it and 25 minutes later we never heard back from her. If my friend hadn't gone to inquire I don't think we'd ever get our food. Later on in our stay, she was replaced by a lovely gentleman, so him and the food were the saving grace for this place. We stopped in for a couple bites while hopping around the neighborhood. We started with their pumpkin seed hummus which was topped with black sesame, sumac, and dill. I really enjoy sumac and dill, so this dish was perfect for my flavor preferences. The hummus has excellent texture; it was smooth yet not watery. The dish had a pleasant lemon flavor coming from the sumac and possible added lemon to the hummus. It's a greater starter and I'd probably go through four orders if I had a beer. Next, we shared their fried chicken sandwich with pickled cabbage and a delicious sauce. My girlfriend said it was the best chicken sandwich that see has had. Super disappointing. I came in at about 2:30 on a Thursday, when there was only one other person there. I ordered coffee and food, sat at a table, and took out my laptop to do some work. I asked the barista about a WiFi code and he told me that I had to sit at the bar if I wanted to use my laptop. It seemed like formalism over practicality, since NO ONE WAS THERE, but he pointed out a sign, and I'm nothing if not compliant with posted rules. So I collected all of my things, my laptop, my coffee and saucer, etc, and moved to the bar. At which point I asked for the WiFi code again... and was told that they didn't have customer WiFi! Why not tell me that before making me move?!?! It made no sense! It was lunacy! So I took my quarter avocado sprinkled with sesame seeds ($6) and went across the street to Daily Grind. Where I ate my $6 quarter avocado, drank a much tastier coffee, and used WiFi. read more

I can only speak of one item. I was famished and didn't want to get on the train at 6:30 pm back to Queens. So, I came across this small, but quaint spot that offered up an interesting selection. I was hankering for a burger earlier and noticed they had one. The Merguez Burger, which was served with french fries, chili pickle, red/yellow/orange peppers, and fresh sprigs of micro greens on a brioche bun. The "secret sauce" is aptly named, for I was unable to clearly describe its contents, however it was just enough spicy and purple to make it look and flavor this double patty of chicken and beef to perfection. I can attest that it is one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Also, I can't wait to try another item the next time I visit. I feel confident that I will be equally happy, just by the passion of which this burger was creatively and deliciously prepared. I enjoyed each bite thoroughly and couldn't get the smile off of my face. I did not eat anything else, nor was it necessary. The burger would suffice and Alex, my server and host was both, attentive and as pleasant as can be. I was still in my neighborhood when I got my daily notifications on Yelp and this spot was suggested. Since I had a close-by parking spot, I decided there was no harm in checking this place out. The reviews were stellar so my expectations were high. Finding this spot was easy and if you are using the MTA, Franklin Ave on the C train is your stop. As I walked in, the eatery was a bit packed so I wasn't sure if I was going to dine in or take out. The tables are situated for duo/couple dining instead of large groups. But I think a party of four can squeeze in here (if tables are available). The staff was very pleasant; he handed me a menu, told me to take my time and ask any questions if needed. I had an idea what I wanted to order and since there was a line behind me, I didn't want to start with a load of questions about what's this and that. I fell in love with the Eggplant Menemen (after viewing the pics) so that was my choice. I saw an extra table and seat by the window so I chose to hang out. And the wait for the food wasn't long at all. The Eggplant Menemen is a must try for everyone. I really love the creativity they used to make this dish. The taste was on-point; they are definitely conscious of the salt usage. I can tell the chef use alot of spices to enhance the flavor. The bread was also nicely toasted with a little burnt flavor which I loved. It looked really crunchy in the photo but it was soft and chewy. The decor is chic yet simple with its retro-inspired design. Chairs are low barstools that are light wooden in color along with the tables. You can also eat by the counter if you are able to grab one of the two/three seats. My only gripe is that this cafe is very small; I wish it was alittle bigger. I can imagine brunch hours would be busy due to the long waiting times. But I do believe the quality of the food makes the wait worth it. Came in to eat at around noon. Ordered the Smoked Trout Sandwich with a side of Fried Potatoes and got to taste the Fried Chicken Sandwich. Yyyyeah this fooood is on point and you should definitely go out your way to eat from here. The Fried Potatoes were perfectly cooked, crispy, and flavorful. That kokkari dressing they put on it elevated the dish in more ways than one. This did not at all taste like the usual greasy potatoes you get from other establishments. The Smoked Trout Sandwich was a party in my mouth and just the right amount of food. If you want something very flavorful that will leave you satisfied but not overly full then get this. Pair this with the Fried Potatoes and you'll have a complete breakfast. That CHICKEN SANDWICH!!! Was delicious and I kinda wish I would've order that instead of the Smoked Trout. There is nothing wrong with the trout it's just that chicken is levels better than the trout and most chicken sandwiches period. The portions are huge and I was pleasantly surprised by the very very very generous size. The flavors are very unique and you aren't really going to find something like this anywhere else in the neighborhood. You should just go get it as soon as your done readying this. The only complaint I have is that its a very small place so getting a seat will be difficult. Just try to avoid coming in during the obvious rush hours. Golda is a sweet little cafe located in bed stuy. After seeing images of their food, I didn't expect to walk into a place that looked more like a cafe. Its cozy and cool, but definitely not the most comfortable dining area. Some very small wooden tables and stools. I was there today, which is midday-midweek, so it wasn't that crowded. The food was delicious! I had the Honey Nut Squashes with freak croquette, skordallia (whatever that is) and black toum (what is that) with a soft scramble. I may not know what all the ingredients in this dish are, but I assume the skordallia / toum was in the sauce and t hat was divine. Break off a piece of that squash and tip it in the sauce - yum. I surprised myself by liking a vegetable dish. The croquettes was what made me order the dish, but its not the best part of it, at all. The flavors of the dish was bold, but the croquettes were not that tasty. But I dipped it in that sauce and yum. I also tasted the Cauliflower dish with chermoula, beet tahini, quinoa, apricot and pecorino. It wasn't my dish, so I didn't have much of it. The cauliflower was very tasty. Nicely roasted and great accompaniments. Had some avocado, and no matter how you slice it, despite of this avocado trend, for me, its the same if I eat it at home or I pay $6 for it. But people that order sliced avocado know to expect avocado, correct? The coffee was very good as well, which makes it ideal for a daily coffee spot for people in the 'hood. There is still quite a few things I'd like to try, but the one disappointment was the size of the dishes. I expected them to be a lot bigger for the price. I booked this restaurant for a table of 5, to celebrate a really wonderful family reunion the night before a huge celebration. It did not disappoint! This intimate space was the perfect spot--it sat us (5) in one corner, a table for 2-3 in the other, a table in the window and bar seating with the full menu available. (Anecdote: the atmosphere was so friendly and "family like" that at one point a patron dropped a glass, it shattered, and the whole room of 20 or so people exploded with "MAZEL TOV" and laughed and clapped together. It was really special, and aided by the atmosphere!) Daniel took great care of us (and all our dietary needs--me = gluten free). The hummus was an outstanding starter, the chicken pollard with beef bacon and sweet potato purée excellent, and the GF lamb meatballs were such a hit we ordered a second helping to share. Another overrated place in Brooklyn. I generally stick to reviewing restaurants that I'm in love with but I think it's also important to set expectations. For example, Golda might have been a good choice if you're already in the neighborhood and looking for a modern, hipster place that charges you hipster prices. But it's certainly not a good choice for traffic on the BQE or any weekend subway ride, just to get to small cramped quarters, wait and then eat really mediocre food that I could have easily had in the city. I tried the croissant - don't do it. I know, it's tempting but trust me . I am a walking baked goods city guide and just don't waste your money. The drinks were ok. Think the latte was the best thing we got from Golda that day. For our actual meal, we got the smoked fish sandwich and the breakfast egg sandwich. The brioche was really ill-proportioned the good stuff-it was like 80% bread, 20% "stuff". You can see it in the pictures yourself. In fact, my table just followed the table next to us and ate it as an open faced sandwich. The "stuff" was also a bit bland and you really had to dig for my smoked fish. Maybe it's more worthwhile to get their plates and non-breakfast items. The cauliflower did look pretty good but since everything lacked seasoning, it's difficult to say and I'm never going out of my way here to confirm. Actually there was one other good thing - the harissa. Yea we're in NYC so it's everywhere but I'll end it on a positive note. Service was fine too. Just not worth it, unless you've never had a latte or harissa before and are more than 3 blocks away. read more

Food is priced mostly the way you'd expect but the booze man is too pricey for what the offering is. $16 for just a (wonderful) chicken sandwich is aggressive. Should come with fries or some kind of side. Beer pricing is about what you'd expect for draft beers, not craft beer cans that you can get at the bodega for half the cost. Wine pours are extremely conservative, like 4 oz for a restaurant pour. The price is beyond the cost of a "house" wine, but it is almost certainly very cheap stuff (I.e., you've bought the bottle with 1.5 glasses). I'm not saying they aren't allowed to up-sell beverages - of course they are - but it's just a little much. All that being said the food and experience are top notch. Will go again when I'm feeling a little loose. read more

The chicken is perfectly fried and the slaw and mayo compliment it well. They had one guy working the front and he was very personable. Definitely a good vibe. The two negatives to this place... #1... is that this place is pricey considering what you get. A sandwich (with no side) and tea came out to almost $18. It was good but definitely overpriced by a couple dollars. The second negative was that there is no wifi here. I didnt understand that. It looks like a coffee shop that you could get some work done in but I guess they dont want people sitting at tables too long. What a welcomed addition to BedStuy! Golda is a cute little shop that we happened upon while in between morning errands -- and it was the best find! Came in for a coffee, but then ended up just dining in for the breakfast foods after seeing the menu. The shop is small but with a good amount of seating. When we came in, it was a little quiet, but soon after a line formed and it was busy on out. It was bright and comfortable, with a good mix of people stopping in. We had the menemen eggplant and the smoked trout sandwich. Oh boy, the dishes came out and it was beautifully presented. The menemen eggplant was so flavorful and perfect for breakfast -- perfect fried egg, tomatoey eggplants, saffron yogurt, and delicious slices of toast. The smoked trout sandwich was on a really good brioche (like, really good) with chunks of smoked trout, trout caviar, a really great scrambled egg -- and to my surprise, a pine nut relish that really added an interesting savoriness to each bite. I heard a lady also raving about the egg sandwich she ordered. We were all happily impressed! For coffee, my husband got a cold brew and I had a cortado. Coffee is on the mild side, but good. Even though they're new, service was cheerful and efficient. Get the pastrami, but be prepared for it to taste like good brisket (not briny; the cabbage makes the dish). I was excited to try this place but after checking it out,I've decided it was over-hyped. My sweet tahini oat milk latte, one of their specialties, was boring. I tasted no cardamom and any tahini flavor was lost to the oat milk...a waste of SIX DOLLARS. The brew Parlor coffee, whose retail shop I enjoy going into when it's open to customers, their coffeess never wow me. Definitely one of my favorite new brunch spots in BK that I will be trekking to from Manhattan. Golda is a small and cozy cafe, situated next to the Franklin station and it surely stands out amongst the other neighborhood shops. I was looking for a typical brunch-esque dish since it was around 2pm on a Sunday but that dish did the job. Warm, comforting and healthy, it's all I could ask for. Get the squash dish, you won't regret it. Don't forget to add the soft scrambled egg! The only downside I would say is that this place is kind of pricey, especially considering the location. Therefore, I had to knock off a star :/. For 2 dishes and one coffee, it was about $45, keep in mind there is no waiter service. Roasted Turnip with collard greens, apples, einkorn and chillies - beautiful presented, delicious flavour. Baked Spinach and egg with herb toast- warming, hearty, nicely spiced. I could've eaten two of them! Chic pea flour, raspberry, almond pastry - really enjoyed by a celiac customer, excellent! We'll probably be back at least once more before we leave town. *edited to add: we returned three more times for baked goods and for a large take out order.
