Burger and fries with special sauce to die for...
    Kate B.

Popped by here last week while getting my AC repaired by a great guy in the lot of Autozone. Who'd a thought? Took my chances on the burger and it blew me away. And the fries? Well see for yourself... I don't know how many times I told them it was the best burger and fries I've had in forever but... And what an adorable outdoor area in the back. And the bar is cool too. And even better than all that was my conversation with the owner, Ben. Thank you, Ben!

    Beautiful classic SHAKEN margaritas!

Have been passing by this outdoor bar on my socially distanced walls and we FINALLY stopped in! So glad that we did because it's the sweetest little place with plenty of space to have some time out of the house for a bit of normalcy. My friend and I were excited to see Flamin' Hot Cheeto chicken wings on the menu. Cool jazz music and a the nice Brooklyn sky. I will be enjoying this spot and trying out the foods all fall long.

Drenched in oil even after being air fried at home

I had a delivery order and let me tell you it was absolutely disgusting, not only was the order wrong but the fries came DRENCHED in oil, they look nothing like the photos and even air frying them didn't save them. The meat is not cooked well either. Waste of money. Never order from here !!

The only thing that betrays the hidden nature of Dunya Kabab House is the brilliant red sign. Upon closer inspection, you can see a warm dining area, glass partition to see "where the magic happens" in the kitchen behind, and the many articles plastered showing their unique take on Afghani food. I bookmarked the spot to come back to, and within the week, I came back and ordered takeout for the dish most fellow reviewers raved about -- the Uzbeki Qabuli Pulao. When I got home and opened the bag, I was pleasantly surprised to find a small side salad and the dish I recognised from a visit to another nearby restaurant specialising in Uzbeki food -- the plov! The rice was really well seasoned and the lamb shank was so tender it fell off the bone. Everything was really flavourful and well balanced, even for take-out. Unlike the other place, this plov was still sweet without being cloyingly so. I had such good impression that I'm excited to return in the future and try their other dishes, since I heard *everything* Dunya Kebab House does is impeccable.

I also highly recommend the firnee, a decadent custard with pistachios--could honestly eat it all day. It's also super affordable for the quality and portion size--this is definitely going to become a go-to for lunch and dinner in the neighborhood for me. Don't miss it!

I ordered the Journey to Baku salad, the Turkish bread, and the Guru Khingal. The salad needed a pinch of salt, but there was a shaker on the table and with that addition, it was a decent refreshing appetizer. It's sort of a spread so I would recommend ordering some bread to eat with it. The bread came out steaming hot and smelling amazing. It was soft and fluffy on the inside and delicious. I took the extra home and ate it all immediately when I got there. Delicious bread. The Guru Khingal is honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten in New York City. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, as I have never eaten this type of food before. The tender, handcut pasta seems to be layered with flavorful lamb fat like the most decadent possible buttered noodles and the ground lamb topping is rich and perfectly seasoned. The yogurt sauce gives the dish balance. It's a fairly large portion that could easily be shared between two. I highly recommend this spot, the glowing reviews are not exaggerating at all. I often like to try new and unusual restaurants, and sometimes I enjoy them mostly for the novelty. That was not the case at Village Cafe. My meal here was delicious and I am eager to return, even with the 75 minute commute from north Brooklyn.

I felt like I was inside someone's home and felt welcomed and comfortable. Not loud and well lit. Service (5/5): We came at an off hour during the weekend around 1:30pm there was still around 6 parties dining in. The staff provided good recommendations and good service. When asked for water without any lemon slices, they provided bottled water at no extra cost! Food: (4/5) - rated New York Times top 100 Best Restaurants in New York City in 2025 Every dish came with a small cup of sour cream / Tzatziki based sauce that went with every dish. This was a must and this was mastered very well. Kutaby with chicken and lamb (4/5) - we ordered one each but the lamb was far superior than the chicken. Guru Hingal (4/5) - served in a warmed bowl with a lid in a bed of soft pasta and minced lamb. The pasta reminded me of chow fun (Chinese rice flat noodles) and then some seasoned minced lamb. While overall there were flavors in there, it was still lacked flavors and required to be drowned in the Tzatziki sauces or perhaps a order of table hot sauce. Finally we got the Lamb Lulya Kebab (5/5): this was by far the best dish of the meal! The meat was so wonderfully seasoned throughout, juicy, and complemented well with the rice, onions, and tomato based dip. The wraps themselves were way too small to enjoy using hands so we definitely reconstructed on our plates and attempts with our hands.

You order on the sidewalk via a kiosk and choose your protein (chicken, beef, or mixed), served as a wrap, sandwich, or in a box. I got the chicken box and of the three available sides (salad, yellow rice, fries) chose the rice and sides. The most delicious garlic cream sauce is drizzled over everything, though you can get extra sauce for $1 if you want more than just a drizzle. You can also get some spicy sauce for the same price, which does not come standard with the box. I didn't try the spicy stuff, but I would next time. The rice and the crunchy, shoestring-style spiced fries were great, but of course the biggest star of the box was the ridiculously tender chicken. It reminded me of halal street meat, but it's maybe even juicier and more succulent. Minor notes: The chicken was slightly, just slightly, over salted. Don't wait too long to eat the fries, which lose their luster pretty fast (as fries tend to do).

When I ordered on March 2nd the delivery driver that showed up took the receipt with him in anger and told me very rudely that "I need to pay tip bcoz the trip costs him a lot of money". He was unprofessional, aggressive and extremely rude. He started phasing back and forth and screaming that "You need to pay me tip". Bcoz of "tip" this man person became very angry and frustrated. If the delivery person was apologetic and kind the story would have been very different but unfortunately I had to report him. Certainly this kind of behavior and attitude is unacceptable. I immediately complained to Uber Eats and then called the store and asked for the manager but the owner of the store Mr Sadiq got on the line was very apologetic. The owner sounded like a very humble and polite person. He said he will take very strict action against this delivery person and advise me to call the store directly and order from there and ask for him. I have enjoyed Beyti food and service but now with these two incidents involving "a tip" I am very disappointed and might not want to order from this place.

All I wanted was nourishing soup - by chance saw on Yelp and reviews that mentioned the amazing food and chicken soup. First the vibe - just very warm and welcoming - the staff have such great energy like they welcoming guests to their home On a cold winter day this was so appreciated - It wasn't packed but pretty much most of the tables were occupied - you had people dressed for the New Year festivities , others just wanting to spend a nice low key evening with good company and great food The menu looked amazing - but I had to control myself . I started the cucumber yogurt with warm pita bread , made in house ( I think p, not the usual thick bread but lighter more delicate) . Then had the chicken soup - blew my mind , the flavors were beautiful and so flavorful , light and nourishing with some broken rice .. my body just sighed with happiness . My partner had the vegetable couscous - looked simple - but the flavors - wow - so delicate and refined on the palate - just elevated the whole dish - we were in heaven . I had home made green mint tea to accompany the food and he had Mighty Leaf orange blossom , both complemented the food beautifully . Finally we had the pistachio ice cream - not sure where they are getting it from - but this is made with passion . Lots of lovely pistachios in a creamy luscious ice cream . After years of spending New Year's Eve with overpriced average food and drink ,lots of noise - this is going to be one of the most memorable New Year's Eve in a restaurant in the city . We will be back soon! I want to try the lamb Shank and the other appetizers!
