Gold Star for the 4 star! This was a great little location for an iconic Greater Cincinnati flavor. The place is a little outdated but it was kept clean and the staff was real friendly. I'm from North Carolina so the concept of chili like this on hotdogs and pasta is still strange...but it's growing in me! The food was great and they have other options outside the typical Cincy dishes. I had the grilled harvest salad with raspberry vinaigrette and had no regrets! The battle of Gold Star and Skyline chili lives on and this is a good location for you to judged yourself! Also, kids eat FREE on Tuesday when you spend $8! As a parent this is nice for a good size kids meal.

The building is in terrible shape.

I visited this location during the dinner time hours. The cashier was wonderful. Jaylynn was smiling, upbeat and friendly. The food was on par for Gold Star, hot and delicious. My reason for a two star rating is the building is in horrible shape. I snapped a picture of the bathroom to show how bad the tile flooring looks. It was that bad in the dining room as well. Give this place a makeover!

A delicious #chiliburger with corn chips, onions and cheese. #CincyBurgerWeek @yelpcincy #cincinnatichili #goldstarchili

This may be the fault of the Grub Hub delivery drivers, but my delivery took almost two hours.

Always consistent and fast. If you go early or late the service is always good. This doesn't apply to the Newport location it's hit or miss.

The food is outstanding across the board--from the steaks to the cheese sticks--but the real star is their bread pudding. It's absolutely worth the trip from anywhere in the tri-state area. Parking is also easy and convenient, with a garage right across the street, as well as their own lot and additional street parking. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great meal and an even better experience.

They have a charming patio at the back of the interior space as well. I didn't realize they have their own lot, but in case it's full, there is plenty of street parking nearby. The service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and kept drink refills flowing. We ordered the pretzel and beer cheese and the poutine for starters. The pretzel was huge and tasty. I didn't care for the beer cheese, probably because I was expecting a more solid cheese product. I would describe this more as a cream sauce. It didn't seem to have much cheese in it and was very 'liquidy'. Also the ramekin was only half full. If it had tasted better, I would have asked for more, but as it was not, we didn't even finish what was given. I thought it was a bit pricey at $12.95 for one large pretzel. On the other hand, the poutine was fantastic! A very unique take on the dish with a mix of cheese curds (although they reminded me more of pieces of mozzarella sticks), french fries and Andouille cream gravy. I ordered the fish tacos which consisted of Blackened Salmon, Thai Chili Sauce, Black Bean Corn Salsa, Pico de Gallo. My order came with two and they were fantastic! Since Blinkers is known for steaks, I will have to give them another try at dinner time.

Friendly staff and great food. The place is very clean and well maintained. We started with the Heart and Palm Salad. Perfect portion tossed with homemade honey balsamic dressing, really good!! I had the Chicken Gumbo, meaty and tasty with a perfect amount of spice to light up the tastebuds. The Shrimp PoBoy bruschetta was very flavorful. My lobster dip was nice and creamy and work well on the sliced crostini bread. We all had the Blackened salmon with rice & beans. The salmon was perfectly cooked and very flavorful with just enough blackened seasoning to enhance the flavor. Food presentation was perfect, everything was plated nicely They have a great selection of bourbon. We chose ours after just three selections but they had many more. The owner came by our table and introduced herself, something you rarely see nowadays The cost was reasonable, and we have added this to our list of top restaurant selections in Newport, Kentucky. Thank our server, Sam for the great service and menu advice. Five stars.

We had the filet mignon and 3 cheese Mac and cheese. The filet mignon had a very nice crust on the outside and cooked perfectly inside. We like it more on the rare side! The Mac and cheese was excellent. Had the key lime pie and crème brûlée for dessert. The service was excellent. The setting inside has been changed and some of the cool parts of York street still remains. Overall a very fine establishment in Newport ! They recently opened for lunch so we will have to try that out.

We had the 5…read morecourse Tasting Menu for $90. per person. we have had many tasting menus before and left feeling very disappointed with our experience. The portions for even a tasting menu were extremely small. My entee (salmon) came out not hot. Our server was not attentive (never once refilled our water glasses or asked if we enjoyed any of our dishes). Overall we were left with the question of: what is all the fuss about with this restaurant? We will not be back.

What's striking about the restaurant itself is how quiet and calm it feels. With limited nightly seatings and every dinner table doing the tasting menu there's a sort of orchestrated flow that permeates the space. Not to say energy is low or it's so quiet you feel self-conscious talking; it's just that nothing about the experience feels rushed or accidental. As expected, the bread course was phenomenal as was all the food we enjoyed! We opted for the wine pairing along with dinner, which results in about 1.5 or 2 full glasses over the course of the meal. The sommelier did an excellent job introducing and explaining each wine, as well as why it was selected to pair with each course. All told, a lovely experience and one worth repeating--and not just because the menu changes every season.

I've made my way through the entire menu (food and drinks), and there honestly isn't a single item I wouldn't recommend. Everything is consistently spot on every single time. That kind of reliability is hard to find, and it's exactly why I keep coming back. That said, a few personal favorites stand out. The goat cheese flatbread appetizer is a non-negotiable. It's the kind of dish you order "for the table" but secretly don't want to share. The cacio e pepe and pasta rustica are also incredible and always hit. As for drinks, the seasonal espresso martini is always a go-to and never disappoints. But my personal favorite is either the regular old fashioned or, when I'm feeling myself, the wagyu old fashioned... especially if Scott is behind the bar. He clearly knows what he's doing, and it shows. The service is always warm, attentive, and consistent, which makes the whole experience even better every time. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere, and a bartender who takes his craft seriously. I'll definitely be back (again...and again).

The bartender said these are made to order, mozzarella pulled and filled after I placed my order. The atmosphere was cozy and right in the heart of Covington. Both bartenders were super friendly and when I said all of a sudden I did not feel well, they took my meal and put it in a box for me and got me an ice water to go. I will definitely stop in the restaurant again to give something else on the menu a try. Probably will order the same cocktail as it was so good.
