I agree with Geoffrey H. The portions are very small and the prices are high. It is not something college students on a budget can afford. A simple small cup of average chai (tea) with 2 samosas costs $8!!! That's crazy! I can pay a few bucks more and have a yummy MEAL at a nearby location that will fill me up, rather than just one cup of tea and 2 samosas, which were just like snacks. Friendly staff, great Indian food, so close to campus, and very reasonably priced! This is by far some of the best Indian food in Chico, the cooks must have put a lot of effort into their food, and they always serve you with a smile. They have a TV with Indian media while I'm eating my Indian food, it adds to the atmosphere. Nothing else to say, but that they have stamp cards that if you used it enough, you can get discounted meals. Highly recommended and definitely coming back for more. I love Gogi's! Gogi's Cafe is a family run, cheap, delicious, healthy (if there is not too much oil), authentic fast food Indian restaurant. I feel like my mom is cooking for me or something... The food is already made, you get large portions for great prices. There is lots of delicious digestive spices and half of their menu is vegetarian. I love the paneer, it is not too soft. The dishes each have a distinct flavor, the spices are nicely balanced, and they offer goat meat. (BTW- Goat meat tends to have less antibiotics, growth hormones or other weird practices involved in raising them for meat, so it's often a healthier meat- worth trying.) I loved the palak paneer, the aloo gobi, and the vegetable samosas. Check out the indian ice cream bar in the freezer next to the register- the pistachio is off the hook! Gogi's is a great place to hang out while studying or grabbing a quick bite but does not have the ambiance for a nice relaxing night-out dinner feeling. Not for romance, but it is clean and has lot of windows to look out of. (My only question, why is there a GIANT tv and an audio patch panel of xlr jacks in the corner? Had the tofu curry tasted like macaroni and cheese it was amazing. Spicy chicken curry was great too. Shared a dish of $10 and was good. Got a couple vegetarian sides that were just ok. Probably need to get used to the Indian flavor more to appreciate it. The standard entrees (not made to order) were amazing and I tried a few and plan on coming back to get full servings of the other flavors. I don't understand why people call this cafeteria like. That's as if it's bad food. But really they have many incredible Indian dishes with vegan/veggie options. It's like Indian chipotle but with many different types of curries and classic Indian dishes. Gogi's is very good food. You can tell they make everything from scratch. The food has depth and is packed with flavor. The garlic naan bread is delicious. The place is always spotless. The owners are very nice. One of my favorites is the potato cauliflower dish, and make sure you get a side of the cilantro mint chutney. This is a definite go to place. read more

The best Indian food in Chico has been beaten by this little quick-stop place by the bus station??? Totally! It's all about the Tikka Masala. You gotta try it! Gogi's is not like the rest. I go to Priya's once in a while, but most of their stuff is both A) too heavy and B) too bland. I was nervous trying Gogi's because, since you can see all the dishes stewing behind the glass, I thought they looked kinda weak (all the same color, all sort of soupy looking), but the first taste of their Tikka Masala blew my mind and made me a fan-for-life. I love that their stuff uses less cream and is more like stew. I love that their stuff is just a teensy bit spicier than the average Indian. But mostly I just love the BIG flavors of all their dishes. Gotta catch 'em all! read more

I've been coming here for last two years. Thier menu is good but today they warmed up my naans on a stove!! As a native to the Indian region, I have eaten at best to worst Indian restaurants in the world. But I have never experienced such laziness from the staff that one thing I know should be fresh was warmed up on a stove and sprayed with non-stick spray. I hope their management takes notice that their customers CAN tell the difference between a warmed up vs fresh naan. read more

I'm a pretty tough customer when it comes to Indian food- I grew up there- so I wasn't sure what to expect from Gogi's when I walked in. They blew me away. I've been back a bunch of times, no dish has disappointed, and the owners have been amazingly hospitable. I've tried their Spinach-with-Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese), their Chicken Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, Spiced Chickpeas, Curried-Cauliflower-and-Potato and even their Lentils. Nothing has disappointed. Most importantly, my wife's low tolerance for spiciness was not challenged, she enjoyed the flavor thoroughly without being burned! Most people try their Naan (flatbread), but I went straight for the more home-food flatbread called a Parantha, and it was just like Mother would make it. Prices have been extremely pocket-friendly too. Very happy, will be back soon. Saving room for dessert next time. read more

For never having had Indian food...I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Everything I tried was incredibly tasty and very flavorful (my personal favorites were the chicken tikka masala and the samosas). The staff were professional, friendly, and helpful- giving both samples of the dishes, and offering their suggestions. My only critique is the decor and ambiance. I didn't mind that they went the cafeteria-style serving route...but I feel as though a more thought-out and cozy dining area would assist in keeping them from feeling fast food restaurant-esque (which the food clearly proves that they are miles above any fast food restaurant you'll likely encounter). Ordered the student meal and a drink which came out to around 10.00. The tikka masala portion was so small I was able to eat it in about 4 bites with a spoon. The flavored were good which is why I gave it 3 stars. A little more entree portion would be appreciated. I left a little disappointed. read more

Gogi's is awesome. I got the curried goat, and this coconut chicken pepper dish. I forget what it's called. Both were awesome and big portion sizes. I also tried the garlic naan, that too was amazing. I used the naan as a tortilla with the goat chicken and rice. I bought some spicy chili chutney to go along with it. Had decent amount of heat.(I'm a pepperhead, I would of loved a lot more of it.) Overall I had a great experience and will definitely be returning. read more
