As someone who's constantly had bad experiences with sushi restaurants, I was hesitant to try out this new spot. But now I cannot rave ENOUGH about Goji Nori!!! From the welcoming staff, to the fresh and near perfect quality meat and fish, this place has instantly become a favorite in my rotation. Our server even recognized us when we came back for a second time, really taking the time to welcome us back. The inside is very cozy, not too warm like other KBBQ restaurants, and the location is quiet! We ordered the Premium tier AYCE and I think it is a great price point per person. There's so many types of sushi, sashimi, meats, and even a ramen bar! The marinated meat always looks so fresh and tastes so flavorful. Each cut of sashimi is clean and not super fishy, either! My family and I walked in for a lovely dinner on Saturday night. The concept of BBQ and sushi ayce worked really well for our party's size and preferences. The quality of the supreme menu surpassed our expectations. Our favorites were the Prime Wood Age Galbi, Prime Honeycomb Pork Belly, Chef's Choice Omakase, and Bluefin Tuna. We didn't indulge in the other amenities such as the ramen bar and hot drink machine, but we had a run at the claw machines which had a bunch of squishy toys! The best part about our visit was our server Zeus. Some would say it's hard to fill the shoes of such a grandiose name, but Zeus took those shoes and ran the extra mile. This time around the new restaurant, Gogi Nori can be classified as a respectable establishment that can pull its own weight. This place has good grills and ventilation, which was not the case with its predecessor. And unlike its predecessor this place actually has good meat and sushi. Shocking. The lunch special (Monday to Thursday) was solid for the meats and sushi you get for the price you pay (around $45 after tax and tip). There is a ramen bar as well as a simple coffee bar. The ice cream dessert is a nice touch as well. Service was great. The ordering system is ok but the sushi limitation is pretty annoying (you'll see what I'm talking about when you order). A big improvement from the old spot when it was the 7 japanese bbq. Goginori I can say is a solid spot, especially for the lunch special, which in total came out to be around $44 after tip and tax. Not bad considering an ayce kbbq and sushi. The meats are pretty good and the quality was great. What really surprised me was the quality of the sushi. We definitely got our fill of salmon nigiri. The service was also terrific and they came by with our ordered foods super quick. My only issue really is that you can only order up to 5 items max at a time and then there's a timeout period. This includes sushi, which comes in 1 piece at a time. So if you order 5 nigiris, you would have to wait for a bit to order again. A little annoying but I guess its to prevent over-ordering. We were here on a weekday and it was completely dead. Like other than one other table, we were the only ones there. Hopefully it's more lively for dinner and weekends. I was pleasantly surprised by Goginori! We made a dinner reservation for 7:00 PM and were seated within 5 minutes. I absolutely love that an all-you-can-eat (AYCE) restaurant offers reservations...honestly, being able to book ahead is an instant selling point for me. As someone who has been to practically every AYCE spot in Orange County, I had to see if this viral social media favorite lived up to the hype. We opted for the Premium Menu ($57.99), which includes both KBBQ and sushi. It features an incredibly efficient ordering system: Banchans are already on the table when you sit down, and you order everything directly from your mobile device. You can submit an order for up to 5 meats, 5 sushis, and 5 appetizers/sides every 5 minutes. The food comes out amazingly fast compared to other AYCE spots. 01. Sashimi Orders (Tuna, Salmon & Yellowtail) - 4 Stars - We were blown away by how fresh and high-quality the sashimi was. We were incredibly impressed right off the bat. 02. Bluefin Sushi (2 pp) - 5 Stars - WOW. We couldn't believe they offer bluefin on an AYCE menu. It had a beautiful, buttery richness that melted instantly and tasted exceptionally clean. We loved it so much that we maxed out the ordering limit (which I believe was 5 orders). It tasted remarkably like an Otoro cut...absolutely a must-order item. 03. KBBQ Meats - 4-5 Stars - The meat quality here is genuinely good, though it comes down to personal preference. Our server recommended their favorite cuts, and every single one was a winner. 04. Appetizers/Sides - 3-4 Stars - The Kimchi Fried Rice was a standout 4-star dish. The rest of the sides were a solid 3 stars: the fried chicken with powdered sugar was just okay, the steamed egg was decent, and the shrimp tempura and corn cheese were standard. The Spicy Tofu Soup was a bit bland on its own, but if you drop some brisket into the broth, it immediately upgrades the flavor. 05. Banchans 3 Stars - The side dishes were the only real letdown. The offerings looked a bit sad, and the cucumber and potato salads weren't very appetizing. We actually had to sprinkle some salt and pepper onto the potato salad just to give it some life. Don't get too excited for the banchan spread. LOCATION/PARKING - The restaurant took over the old Islands Restaurant. There are plenty of parking spots in the lot, though it can occasionally get tight if there's any protests on the corner of Culver. CUSTOMER SERVICE - Incredible service. Every single server was helpful, super friendly, and hyper-attentive. They always seemed to be a step ahead of what we needed. BONUS - They have a self-serve Ramyun bar as well as a tea and coffee station (the black coffee was actually good). To top it all off, they bring out a small cup of Thrifty's ice cream at the end of the meal. They only had vanilla the night we visited, but I hear they rotate in strawberry, matcha, and chocolate. Don't walk, run here! They opened only 3 months ago? Why aren't they packed for a Friday evening yet? The price for the premium menu was $58/pp and is a bit of a sticker shocker, but it was a great yourself for a hard work week kind of night -- and totally worth it! They have an overwhelming extensive menu of offerings from KBBQ to sushi to a DIY ramen station and hot chocolate and coffee station. They have a lot of options for appetizers, such as japchae, korean fried chicken, tofu soup, egg soup, rice, gyoza, etc. You order everything through the QR code and get to select up to 5 items per category and submit your order every 5 minutes. We didn't know at first and submitted one order of 5 items only, so had to wait a little bit until we can submit another. Don't worry though, because the 90 minute rule was still plenty of time for us. The sushi was actually really good and IMO, was fresher and better cuts than some other ayce places that serve sushi, and that says a lot coming from a sushi connoisseur. Their meats were pretty tasty as well. Only 1 plate was a bit too cartilage to our liking, but we will opt out of getting that again. The ban chan, salad and mixed veggies helped balance out too much protein for us. We didn't have room to visit the ramen bar or get hot chocolate or coffee, but will be sure to try it out in a future visit. We were also offered cookies and creme and vanilla ice cream at the end to enjoy. Tip: The servers also help change out your grill constantly, so you don't have overly burnt food. Gogi Nori is a new AYCE KBBQ and sushi restaurant that opened in Irvine. Its selling point is that you can eat both KBBQ and sushi and don't need to settle for just one or the other. We made reservations on Yelp but you can also put your name on the waitlist. They have two options: premium ($57.99) and supreme ($74.99). We got the former which included a good variety of meat, sushi, and appetizer options. They also have a ramen bar where you can make instant ramen but we stuck with the KBBQ and sushi. There is a 90 minute time limit where you can order 10 items per order. You have a 4 minute gap between orders when you can order again. We used our phone to pick our food and it came out pretty quickly for us. Out of all the KBBQ options my favorites were the LA galbi, beef bulgogi, and wagyu ribeye. Out of all the sushi options my favorites were the yuzu yellowtail, crispy rice spicy tuna, and eel. Even though you can get the best of both worlds, it did feel a little weird eating salty hot meat followed by the more subtle cold fish. One thing I liked to do was to eat the sushi while the meat was cooking to give myself a break. The supreme option had things like lobster tail and blue crab but the premium option was sufficient for our needs. All were delicious especially the beef tongue here! The sushi order consisted of their seared items which were all awesome as well. Everything we pretty much ordered here was delicious and I had nothing to complain about. Onder made the experience even better by letting us know that they had ice cream in the end. AWESOME! This was our first time trying this place, and the sushi was especially good. The sashimi was super fresh, too. The wagyu beef was incredible, though the short ribs were just okay. I'd strongly recommend trying their blue crab and lobster. The raw lobster is really good, and you can tell the blue crab is the real deal. That might have had something to do with the place not being very busy when we came, but he took the time to patiently walk us through the menu. Gogi Nori is one of the better all you can eat spots I've been to. The quality really stands out compared to typical AYCE places. The sushi tasted fresh and they actually serve real wasabi, which is a huge plus and not something you see often. The meats were just as impressive. You can tell they use premium cuts, and the wagyu had great marbling and flavor. Everything cooked well and didn't feel overly greasy or low quality like some other KBBQ spots. What also made a difference is that it's family owned, and you can feel that there's real care put into the restaurant. Service was attentive and the overall experience felt more elevated than your usual all you can eat. We came on a Thursday at 4pm and it was really empty, there was probably only two other customers there. Tiffany was one of the managers who helped us order and get to know the menu. She was so sweet and gave a small tour of the place since it just opened 3 weeks ago. My favorite part was the ramen bar!! Such a nice touch and definitely unique for a KBBQ. I'm a pretty simple eater so I didn't order any of the marinated meats (I also have trust issues of them being too sweet). The side dishes were really good and felt fresh (not old). The quality of the meat was decent, the beef belly was our favorite. It hit that baseline of what you'd expect and the sushi was good, (seared salmon and tuna) however for the crispy rice the rice its self was not very crispy at all. Service was also pretty average. The staff was attentive enough to keep things moving, but there wasn't anything especially memorable about the experience. Everything felt smooth but the plates did feel like it took a bit to come out. Overall, it's a reliable choice if you're in the area and want something consistent without high expectations. The pork and chicken choices are like other places. But the Beef Quality, the marbling of the prime wood age Galbi, prime short ribs and boneless short rib is truly perfection. Plus the grill plates that are used, makes the meat extra tasty. You can be distracted with all the sides and appetizers like sushi nachos, gyoza, corn cheese, steamed egg but nothing beats the beef selection. The perfect pairing is the ramen bar or the kimchi fried rice. Btw, the table side brisket sauce is sooooo good and picked onions and radishes inside, sooo delicious. There is also this one time order of sushi omakase. If you eat that, you will not return to the regular sushi menu. Visited during their soft opening, so I cannot review their logistics on a typical busy day/night, but starting with service? Top notch. Every time someone passed by, they checked on me. Food came out promptly and used plates were removed almost immediately. Inside seems to be a small step up from the previous JBBQ establishment. Still clean. Same lay out. The essence and spirit of Islands still comes through with their benches. Ventilation is a huge step up though. The Japanese style claw games outside are a nice touch should this place get busy...the Squid Game Soju statues are also hilariously amazing. Order from your phone after the server has entered a PIN. I kind of like this over a standard tablet at the table. Though some may not enjoy this. What happens if my phone's battery is dying? Something I hope they've thought about. Food wise is pretty standard at the lunch special, with a lot of pros, and a few cons. The cuts were all really good except the Wagyu Brisket. Something about the cut just made it tougher than normal, almost like they were cut with the grain, but it wasn't. Beef Belly was the best item, with some of the best marbling; amazing quality. It's also nice to have pork jowl with the lower tier. Sushi was pretty good. I don't think its amazing quality, but it also wasn't the worst I've had. I think the 3 pieces per order is kind of a let down, but I can see why they did it for logistics. I will say, they need to figure out the Crispy Rice situation. Mine had stale rice, like they fried the rice yesterday, then offered it today after being in the fridge. If that's the case (for logistics) they probably need to scrap the item. it was NOT good. Kizumi available at the middle "premium" tier and above, but at a charge for the lunch special. Appetizers/sides across the board were pretty good. Although, when I think of Korean Fried Chicken, I don't think of Soy Garlic Karaage. So it's boneless, but its still pretty good and fresh. Jalapeno poppers were a surprise. Japchae and steamed egg were decent. Banchan offering was also just mid. Sprinkle some of that salt and pepper on the Mac Salad; you'll thank me. They have Ramyun bar, but I was told that it was only with the premium.... which makes sense given I DON'T WANT RAMYUN if I'm dropping $60+. All in all this place has a lot of potential and I wish them luck. I would honestly love to give them a chance at the Supreme Tier to compare and contrast with their competitors (both JBBQ and KBBQ), but we'll have to see if I can find someone to go with. A fun new spot for kbbq and sushi. We happened to go during their soft opening. There are claw machines at the entryway which is a good way to stay entertained if you're waiting for a table. The staff are really friendly and we were able to be seated within a couple of minutes. Onder was the main person who was helping us and he frequently came to our table to make sure we had everything that we needed. We looked up the menu ahead of time to decide which tier we wanted and there is a QR code on each table that's used to order from. The food comes out fairly quickly upon order submission. Since it was a soft opening, the staff were still working on the table numbers and we received some things that we didn't order, but we were able to have it sent to the correct table. The quality of the meat is good and I really enjoyed everything that we ordered. The crispy rice had a very generous amount of fish, but the rice itself was more chewy than crispy. Our favorite was the truffle salmon blue crab. Definitely a must-order if you enjoy blue crab. We actually hit a wall before we could try everything we wanted. There were still plenty of items left for us to try. Too bad this place wasn't around before when I could eat twice as much. One unique touch: they have a self-serve ramen and coffee station. I've never seen ramen offered like that in a restaurant before, which was pretty cool. There's a decent variety to choose from. No dessert options yet (hopefully coming later), so yes... we ended up having ramen for dessert. A few things to keep in mind: 90-minute dining limit 10 items per order via phone Cooldown time between orders (a few minutes) Some items have limits (e.g., one lobster per person) Considering they're still in soft opening, we expected a few rough edges, but overall, they exceeded expectations. The AYCE sushi spread alone justifies the visit. Uni, scallop, and sweet shrimp nigiri sitting next to fatty tuna, salmon, ikura, and hamachi is not what I expected from an all-you-can-eat menu. Quality held up across the board, nothing tasted like filler. The KBBQ side matched it. The meat tray had real marbling on the short rib and ribeye cuts, properly seasoned and cut thick enough to grill right. Pork belly was scored and seasoned well too. For AYCE pricing, the quality-to-value ratio here beats most of the competition in Irvine. Portions came out fast, plates were never picked over or thrown together, and the table stayed stocked without long waits between rounds. Just went there recently for the first time. We went as a small family group to celebrate my mom's birthday, and the Korean BBQ was delicious. We went with the kbbq only option to save a little money. The meat was great quality and everything tasted fresh. Surprised how quiet this place was because the meat was surprisingly a lot better than we had expected. The staff was also very attentive. They were quick to switch out the grills and made sure our side dishes were refilled whenever we asked. Overall, a wonderful spot for a family kbbq! Would definitely come back. read more

Okayyy, this place is SO GOOD! The Korean BBQ was AMAZING!! the meat was flavorful and juicy! And the sushi?! BOMB! Everything was so fresh and delicious! The service was seriously 10/10! I was really excited to try the Supreme buffet. I love lobster. I also enjoy crispy rice. I didn't like having to use my phone to order food. The last place here gave you a tablet. Other places give you a tablet too i couldn't believe how small the lobster tail was. I thought Fish and Game required lobster to be larger. I didn't like only being able to order five pieces of sushi at a time. I did enjoy the Omakase. Other items were just average. I might return, but wouldn't get the Supreme buffet again. read more

This was my first time trying this kbbq sushi combo restaurant. I've been to quite a few kbbq sushi combo spots, and I wanted to give this place a shot because I had seen people promoting it online and the food in the pictures looked really good. Unfortunately, the actual experience was completely different from what I expected. The inside of the restaurant was just okay. Since the restaurant is relatively new, I expected the interior to feel more modern and updated, but the grill and stove looked very old and reminded me of the type of equipment you'd see at a much cheaper $20 Kbbq spot . I went during the afternoon and was literally the only customer there. The atmosphere just wasn't it, didn't feel very welcoming or lively. When I sat down, I had to scan a QR code and order everything from my phone. The pictures of the meat definitely looked appealing, but once the food arrived, the quality was nowhere near what I expected for the price. I ordered the Supreme option with the prime meats, and honestly, I was extremely disappointed. The cuts were very tough, and the quality did not feel like prime-quality meat at all. The marinated meats, including the kalbi, were not seasoned very well either. I've had better quality kbbq for less than $30, and honestly, those places weren't even close to being this disappointing. For the price I paid here, I expected significantly better quality. That was enough for me to stop ordering more meat. I also tried the sushi. I had seen people online showing off what looked like high-quality meat and large, fresh looking lobster, so I was expecting something much better. When my lobster arrived, I was shocked by how small it was. I've honestly had prawns bigger than that. At that point, I realized the online hype did not match what I was actually getting at the restaurant. Some of the sushi fish cuts were also very disappointing. The quality reminded me more of the type of sushi you'd find at an inexpensive ayce Chinese buffet rather than what I expected from a restaurant charging these prices. The banchan wasn't impressive either. It didn't taste particularly fresh, and overall it felt like very little attention was being given to the quality of the sides. The biggest issue for me, though, was the white rice. It had a strange smell and was overly moist. It did not taste or smell like freshly cooked rice to me, and I actually had to spit it out. That really turned me off from the entire meal. At that point, I basically stopped eating. I had only ordered one round of meat and sushi, took a few bites, and called it a day. I was extremely disappointed because I had been genuinely excited to try this place. Unfortunately, after eating there, I also felt sick to my stomach. I went in thinking this place might be as good as or possibly even better than my current favorite, Chubby Cattle, but unfortunately it wasn't even close in my experience. I really wanted to like this place, but the food quality, atmosphere, and overall experience did not justify the price for me. The online promotions made the restaurant look much better than what I personally experienced, which was honestly frustrating. For me, this was a first visit and definitely a last visit. I wish I had just stuck with the kbbq places I already know and enjoy. Very disappointing experience. Wish I didn't have to give it a star at all. Lesson learned: When you walk into a restaurant and the atmosphere immediately feels off, the equipment looks outdated, and you're the only customer there at dinner time... RUN THE OTHER WAY! First time trying Goginori today and it did not disappoint! We were greeted by Christian and quickly seated. Once we told him it was our first time, he explained the menu and was very helpful when making recommendations or validating our selections. The food was promptly brought out and the variety is amazing. The meats were wonderful & tender, the sushi was fresh & delicious and the sides were equally yummy. The service was awesome too. Christian was very attentive and kept checking in which is equally important besides delicious food. I would highly recommend Goginori! Definitely going back soon! read more

LOVED the supreme AYCE option here. Can't believe you get a delicious sushi omakase set in addition to premium cuts of meat! Loved the wood aged galbi, prime hand cut short ribs, wagyu rib cap and wagyu rib eye!! The chef's choice omakase were also super good!! The otoro was fresh and fatty! The lobster roll was also delish!! Service was excellent and food came out fast! The grill is also good material because our meat did not stick onto it and the meat had nice grill marks after it was cooked too. Definitely coming back!! read more

Thought the tofu stew could have been better but the steamed egg was seasoned perfectly. Love baked mussels and I think if they blow torched the top, it would be next level good. Hey Beautiful People! So you know how OC has like 50 kbbq places? Well, here's another one! But unfortunately, it's still deciding what it wants to be. What do I mean? It offers AYCE sushi AND kbbq; however, with the limitations it puts on customers for the amount of sushi ordered at one time and how long it takes to come out, you might as well eliminate the sushi altogether and focus solely on the kbbq. It's sad because they have shown that they can do sushi well, but they let you order only a couple pieces per person and then take 20+ min to get it to you. If not for the kbbq, we would have left hungry! However, I can say that at least their kbbq is solid. The ribeye is buttery and delicious and the meat is good quality for a $50 price tag. So what would I order again if I ever decided to come back? 1.) KBBQ only -Sushi limitations don't make the extra money worth it. 2 ) Wagyu Ribeye -Definitely the star of the show -Marbled and buttery -Generous portions + AYCE 3.) Wagyu Brisket -Thinly sliced -Garlic and spicy are delicious -Comes out quickly There you have it! A real look at a restaurant that still needs work, but hopefully improves in the coming months. Wow, this was pretty solid kbbq and sushi acye place. I've never been to one that does both so definitely come hungry. We ate here after running a race and everything was really good. The food came quickly and the sushi tasted pretty solid. Staff were friendly and they had a pretty solid selection. Lunch would definitely be worth the price. Came here during lunch and honestly I was really impressed. Parking is easy and free and when you walk in you are greeted with claw machines and a chrome hand chair for pics. Such a fun touch. The inside is pretty simple but do not let that fool you. The food is actually really good. I have been to a lot of Wagyu spots and this might be one of my favorites. The craziest part is their lunch special is 34.99 and it really gives you that premium KBBQ experience for almost half the price. You still get great quality meats including wagyu options, plus sushi and sides, so it honestly feels like such a steal. I also really liked the Supreme menu and the items in my photos are from that. The meat quality was great and everything from the wagyu cuts to the sushi was super satisfying. Plus they have a self serve ramen station which was such a fun bonus. Definitely a spot I would come back to especially with friends. read more
