My fiancé and I have been here a few times, both in large groups & just the two of us and we are incredibly impressed by this restaurant. We've been during restaurant week and there was a long wait, and where you just walk right in and get seated. Every part of the experience is well managed. The hostess is absolutely adorable and so kind. She got screamed at my disgruntled customers (because they were asked to leave after the 2 hours slotted because there was a long wait) and she was so kind to them and just took it. She helps change the grates, and even placed an order for meat for us! The wait staff is also super kind and helpful. Offering recommendations if you don't know what to try, and being super responsive. Our drinks were never empty and the meat was always on our table! The quality of meat/seafood is very good. We've tried the marinated chicken (spicy and not), the beef and pork bulgogi, both were very good. We've had the brisket, the pork belly, the calamari (both spicy and not) and it was all so fresh and yummy. The denver steak was a hit and even the marinated shrimp are an amazing option! A different, positive experience of Korean food-- more authentic. At this restaurant there is a grill in the center of the table. A plate of meat or vegetables are ordered (enough for the table ($77-$99 approximately per plate). The meat is marinated and ready to cook. Firstly, there was enough food for everyone to be more than satisfied. The grilled meat, placed in a lettuce leaf with rice or sauce was refreshing and delicious. Service was helpful, especially to navigate the complex menu. While the food was spectacular, the ambiance was dark and the floors were extremely sticky. This made a less than favorable first impression, however the meal made up for the environment. As stared, the menu was difficult to navigate. Gogi is one of the better spots in Columbus I've had. Great for groups and also have gone on solo dates. There usually isn't a line as there are plenty of seats. The staff are always attentive and the food items are pretty good. They allow to order 1 protein & 1 side at a time which I'm not used to but I'm sure it's to reduce waste. just went here for the first time for a friends birthday. i've never been to kbq but been wanting to go since i love korean food and go to other korean restaurants. the food was amazing, we got combo A since it sounded the best. It was way enough to share between 4 people and the cost was pretty good. it was about $85 total. we also got the fried dumplings and they were amazing. next time i go i want to try the bulgogi and maybe fried rice but i really like everything i had. the service was great. they weren't too busy when we can so the atmosphere was calm and nice to where i could peacefully eat and enjoy myself. our burner kept going off so the waiter had to keep coming over and helping so we felt bad but he was very apologetic and didn't mind helping. he also kept asking if we wanted anything else to eat so that was nice. definitely can't wait to come back. read more

I LOVE Korean food so I was looking forward to the bulgogi bento box. The bulgogi dry unless it was at the bottom. It tasted like sliced dry meat that was added to sugar water. Not like any bulgogi I've ever tasted. FLAVORLESS!! The calamari was great. The largest I've ever had fried but no flavor to it. The tartar sauce packages were awful. A very good Korean BBQ experience. We definitely over-ordered for two people. We got two meats to grill + japchae as an appetizer, and the portions were abundant. Nothing wrong with having leftovers, though... The BBQ-ing experience was quick, easy and neat. The bulgogi was the definite star, and the banchan sides + sauces took it to even greater heights. We probably could have done without the marinated short rib. The bone-in composition was less-preferred in hindsight. But if you like the dish in general, you'll like GOGI's version. The japchae was solid. The miso soup with tofu wasn't much to discuss. The steamed egg was good and enhanced the other meats when combined. Came here recently with a friend and we tried their Wagyu for two special for around $100. I thought the quality of the meat was considerably better than some of the all you can eat K-bbq restaurants that have opened up. The special came with a tofu soup and a side dish that tasted a bit like bibimbap. The amount of meat was just enough to satisfy and not ge terribly full. Have been going to Gogi's for many years. Love the ambience, which has a cool, hip vibe and doesn't feel like the monstrous Korean BBQ places that are popping up everywhere. The quality of the meat is also better and the sides are top notch. The bulgogi and marinated short rib were excellent and the cold Asian beer paired perfectly. The only complaint I had was the above average prices for individual items. The AYCE option recently introduced fixes that in spades. You can get all the meat, veggies, and side dishes (seafood pancakes, gyoza, spring roll, rice, etc) you can eat. Amazing deal for the price considering the upgrade in quality and unique side dishes. We weren't quite sure what we were getting never having Korean BBQ before. Let me just say prepare for a lot of food. It was all very tasty and fun to try. Me and my friends went here for Restaurant Week. Me and my boyfriend have never had Korean BBQ before so we were pretty excited but our friends who went with have been there numerous times. They were the experts! The staff was a great, very welcoming and kind. We ordered the Fried Dumplings as our appetizer and it was crispy and had great flavor! The star of the show was the Beef Bulgogi, had amazing flavor and giving my friend the props he grilled it to perfection - it was so tender! Everyone knows that the Midwest ain't really the place to get Korean BBQ. But it satisfies when you're not in LA. My friend and I really wanted to check this place out. She had never eaten Korean BBQ. On a Friday night at 6:30, the parking lot was just about full! Not many spots left when I drove in. Regardless, it wasn't super busy inside. We got seated right away. And as we sat past 8, the place kinda cleared out. We ordered soju, since she had never had it. Always a solid choice! Pricey though! At a whopping $14, I could've gotten this for almost half the price at the Korean grocery store just down the street. We tried a couple different apps. They were all labeled to accommodate for people new to Korean food. But one of the dishes literally looked and tasted like tteokbokki but with a lot more scallions. We also got fried dumplings which were also delicious! We chose Combo C, since many reviews said it was much more flavorful than the other options. I was impressed! All the meats were very well-marinated! I can't remember the 3 types of meat we got, but it was all really good! Between the two of us, it was pretty hard to finish the food. We each got rice, and they also gave us a steamed egg and something that looked like tofu soup. I think the food would be good to share between 3-4 people ideally. And of course, dependent on appetite. If you go to LA, you can find a better deal there. You can find Combos that are all you can eat! It's pricier but you can try many more options than the Combos here at GOGI. Cooking the meat yourself was also a plus. It made for a fun experience! The only issue was that our server didn't come around enough to change the metal thing that we were grilling on. It got pretty charred before we got it changed. But they could be understaffed, so I get it. I took the extra raw meat home and popped it in the freezer. Gonna eat it another time! read more

First time experiencing Korean BBQ. The food was pretty good and it was vegetarian friendly. I ordered veggie fried rice with tofu and it was good however it did have a a tad bit to much salt in it and the tofu was bland. The rest of my party ordered a bunch of meats to cook. Food was not bad. Not the best Korean bbq I've had, but definitely not the worst. Sauce options at table were good, and being able to grill garlic in a tin with some oil is one of my favorite things to do at KBBQ. However, service left something to be desired. Server was not very attentive for not having many tables (two other tables, a two and three top). Half of our orders were usually missing, and we needed to re-request dishes a couple of times. At one point, he came to check on us, at which point I just requested more water as my glass was empty. He said ok, and walked off, never to return. Went AWOL for 10 minutes and then when he returned, went to his two other tables. At this point, I went to the host stand to request more water, where he was standing. I understand that mistakes happen, but no acknowledgement nor apology for the mistake happened. We ended up skipping dessert as we overheard he missed some items at the table next to ours, went to get it, and then went off to a different table. Even getting our check was a bit problematic as the other employee seemed unable to print our bill so we had to wait for him to come and print it for us. The quality of the food was decent but service really needs to improve. The whole system is very disorganized and slow. You order and the food takes forever to come out and because of the disorganized system they have only partial order comes out and the servers are not paying attention to you so you can't even point it out to them. Again the servers rarely come check on you which is terrible for a AYCE service. Since they don't check on you, you can barely order/cook anything before the grill just burns and even if you can order it takes too long for the food to come out. I view myself as a Korean food aficionado! I absolutely lost my mind when I saw JeJu pork on the menu!!! I had to order it because the last time I had that was when I lived in Korea. I will save you a lot of time and most likely my poor description of what awesome pork can taste like, look on your favorite tube channel and watch some videos on it. I have traveled all over the world and I have to say I was very happy with the meal! For the purposes of this review I will simply call the "steamed egg" dish by that name as opposed to trying to spell it out in Korean! It comes with the meal and it is the perfect balance between pork ,garlic all of the side dishes the salty sesame oil brine should I say dipping sauce but it is like a custard texture with a chicken broth smoothness. I will absolutely be back next time I'm in town. Everywhere I travel one of the first things I look for is Korean restaurants and quality barbecue. I wish they had an app so I can save up points and maybe get some free pork next time!
