Dom Pocha has been in Columbus for a while and I had tried it about five years ago and liked it a lot, but with the increased amount of Korean barbecue in the area, I had not been back since a few weeks ago. The experience is very authentic with the meat options being plentiful. I do wish that the menu had a little bit more flexibility, since it seems like the options for two people are much different from the options for four people. We came for a friend's birthday and we were a party of three and we ordered the most expensive option. It was way too much food and could easily feed 4 to 6 people depending on how hungry you are, and the quality of the meat was excellent. Everything was displayed beautifully and it had so many options of meats and veggies. It is definitely (obviously) better quality than the AYCE options in the area. I will say that it was expensive though. That may be our fault because we were splitting it for three people, and if we split it for 4-5 people, that would have been less expensive but was still a bit more expensive than what I would want to pay for a Korean barbecue in Columbus, Ohio, but you do pay for the quality and the service so I'd definitely be back for a special occasion. I've heard everyone say Don Pocha is the best Korean spot in town... and honestly? They were right. I came in planning to grab takeout and run, but the vibes were vibing and I ended up staying AND ordering more. They have the best bang for your buck meat combos. We did the beef and pork combo which usually is for 2 but we were able to stretch it for 3 with ordering a noodle dish and couple of steamed eggs. The whole meal was very filling. The cuts of meat were phenomenal and such high quality. The marinated short rib had so much flavor it didn't even need any dipping sauce. The cold noodles was a nice break from the hot food. The cold noodles had a good flavor to them with the right amount of heat and tang. Our server was very attentive to our table. Only down was that they missed our order of fried rice, but it was a good thing because none of us had any room for it. I love the whole concept of table top bbq. I've been here before. Well, kinda. I've been to the restaurant that was here before, 868? And I've been to Poong Mei, right next-door, which is closed now but which has some dishes on the menu here. So it's a little bit of a combination. And it's the same decor inside, and it's pretty similar food. Excellent Korean food. Excellent service. A nice atmosphere. I don't really like the tables, because they are big clunky wood things that I keep hitting my knees on. But I'll make do. I ordered the spicy pork and steamed egg lunch combo. I don't know what its actual name is. A huge mound of chopped up pork, marinated in a savory sauce. Slightly spicy, not really hot. Excellent on its own, excellent with rice, and they give you some lettuce to make wraps with which were a little unwieldy, but tasty; very fresh lettuce. Perfect rice. Perfect steamed egg dish. Oh, and the banchan. My favorite part of any Korean meal. Korean food is great and I would keep coming back for the entrées, but banchan always makes me smile. Free refills, on all sorts of little interesting dishes. Seafood salad, kimchi, assorted pickled vegetables. Get yourself here if you like Korean food, or if you just like food in general. read more

Don Pocha was recommended by our Korean friends as the best Korean BBQ in town and it's pretty good. We got their beef and pork combo for two (see picture) and it's pretty huge. It came with several sides as is typical of most Korean restaurants as well with a couple of salads. Even though they had provided some sauces, we felt that the meat needed some seasoning, especially the pork belly. But once we got some salt on it, it tastes good. My favorite was the marinated beef short ribs -- these were excellent and extremely flavorful. When The server was super friendly and gave us great suggestions. Tough review to write, but let me share our candid experience. 4+ stars for the food, 2 stars for service. We arrived on a busy evening. Not sure if something was lost in translation, but as we stood at the front waiting to be seated, the host told us to wait haha. We were sat in a nice corner booth. Unfortunately things continued to go down hill. In total, we had to get up and flag a server three times...Perhaps they were understaffed or something else was gong on. Food quality was very good. Loved the pork and beef combos. Banchans and rice cakes were bursting with flavor too. That said, still not sure if it's worth the two hour total meal time and frustration of repeatedly asking for service. Pretty standard KBBQ restaurant in Columbus. I came here a few times and food has been overall pretty good. There are a few tables with grills for a cook yourself service and options to have cooked/grilled food brought out to you. The times I've come it doesn't seem too crowded. There may be a noraebang room somewhere as I did hear some singing one time. I've tried various things including the bulgolgi, kimchi jiggae, chicken wings, seafood pancake, spicy squid, among other things. Nothing was super memorable or standout, maybe the spicy squid but that may also be cause I don't get to eat seafood too often in OH. Food is pretty pricey for all that it is, hence the more average rating. Overall, a fairly average KBBQ restaurant. There aren't too many to choose from in the area though so if you're craving KBBQ and want a more quiet, sit down experience give it a shot. read more

First time trying Don Pocha. I've heard so much about this place I decided to order takeout using DoorDash. I hope to try the restaurant out for the full experience soon. I ordered Spicy Pork and Beef Bulgogi BQ and a Seafood Pancake (I know! What the hell is this?) First off this is an expensive meal. The total cost was $60. What can I say, I was hungry! Plus I had a vague idea what I was ordering. I was being adventurous here. Many of the sides I had never had before. I think they were a lot of pickled bamboo shoots and cucumbers but don't hold me to that. Everything was delicious! I would definitely order these items again. I had enough left over for dinner tonight so $60 for two meals ended up working out ok. The Seafood Pancake isn't anything I would order again. Just not very good. This is a newer Korean BBQ place that I've been wanting to try! They have a parking lot and the inside is very quaint. It's not super decorated or anything, but you're here for the food right? You can be seated at a grilling or non-grilling table since they have food choices besides KBBQ. We sat at the grilling station and chose the pork combo for 2. It came with 4 meats: thick cuts of pork belly, pork back ribs, pork shoulder, and pork jowl. I learned that pork jowl is pork cheek and I've never had pork cheek. Honestly, if you cook it super well, it turns out to be crispy and is almost like bacon!! None of the meats we got were marinated, but they give you plenty of different sauces and salt to dip it in. Like any Korean restaurant, you get side dishes with your meal and we got 2 rices. You can ask for lettuce to make wraps, which they don't give you a lot to begin with, but you can continue to ask for more without a charge along with any side dishes. For two people and just getting the pork combo, it was $45 for a lot of food. I would recommend! The service rocked too. Two waitresses were constantly checking in on us and asking us if we needed anything. They were on it with changing our grills if it was burning. read more

Our first time visiting this restaurant and we enjoyed our visit very much. The menu can be overwhelming. We had 4 people in the party. We ended up ordering BBQ for two, appetizer and couple other dishes to share. Somehow we were able to try out all the meat types available. Since we made a reservation, we got a separate room which we shared with one other dinner guest party. There was a screen between the two parties. It made me feel more comfortable dining in person due to covid-19 protocol. I didn't see anyone who wore masks. I love the chicken and the ribeye the best. I would definitely order them again. Had an opportunity to eat here with 25 other people after a conference! The food was pretty solid! I got the boodae jeongol (budae jjigae). It had good flavor with lots of spam, sausage, kimchi, and onions but it could have be more spicy? It serves 2-3 people and comes with rice. This hot soup was perfect for the cold weather! What really impressed me was their service and willingness to offer all 25 of us the private room in the back with several tables. They also had a karaoke available (pay by the hour) with a decent variety of songs. The wait for the food was much shorter than expected and our server was super nice! It was our first time here and it was busy! There are plenty of parking spots outside and a decent amount of seating inside, but we waited almost an hour for a seat, but we expected a long wait. To start, they gave us a bunch on banchan (small side dishes) and a few dipping sauces. We ordered the soy garlic chicken wings, beef and pork combo, squid bibimbap, and pork jowl on the side. The soy garlic wings were fried very well, crispy, and juicy. The wing sauce was a bit sweeter than expected and it was not as flavorful as expected, but still pretty good. The squid bibimbap was lacking a unique flavor, it was coated in gochujang sauce and came with gochujang on the side, but it was made well. The beef and pork combo was delicious, you get a little bit of everything, but it is a bit expensive and a combo alone wouldn't have filled two people up. We added the pork jowl and it was delicious and fatty, it was a good topping to end the meal. Overall, everything was made well, some dishes lacked a bit of flavor. Everything was a bit expensive but overall, it was still delicious. KBBQ can get a bit heavy with meat, it would be nice if they had combos with seafood, but the combo we got was delicious. Our server was very nice, attentive, and checked on us often. We had a good experience overall and were satisfied with the KBBQ and making our own food is always a fun experience. I would recommend this place for a good meal, a causal date, good KBBQ, small groups, or family gatherings. We will probably try another combo or dish next time we come! read more

As a Korean who used to come here all the time for their Jjajangmyeon and Jjompong this place gas gone downhill fast. There is no flavor in the sauce. The noodles have to be store bought. Fall just started not too long ago and it is time to compile the list of places for that hot bowl of soup. I haven't been back to Don Pocha in awhile and saw that they are introducing the menu from Poong Mei [which include some of my favorite Korean-Chinese dishes]. It got me excited. Kimchi Jige and Soon Tofu is always my go to options. I went for the Kimchi Jige this time around. One thing I love about Korean soup/stew dish is that they always serve in the stone bowl. As the dish is serve to the table, you will still have the bubbling and piping hot soup in front of you. This is totally perfect for the Fall/Winter weather. I was actually hoping to get Poong Mei, but I saw that Poong Mei had merged with Don Pocha. I was craving budae jjigae, and saw that it was still available on the Don Pocha menu. So I came here with my wife and some friends last week for a nice warm dinner. My wife and I ordered a budae jjigae, and then my friends ordered a gamja tang, bulgogi, and spicy chicken wings. The budae jjigae came with unlimited refills on broth, which was perfect for a cold day. The broth was spicy but not too spicy. The combination of spam, hot dog, instant noodles, kimchi, scallions, onions, and hamburger patties, all in a large pot, is quite comforting and classic for budae jjigae. The gamja tang was also great. The pork was very tender, fall off the bone. I wish the dish came with more broth, but overall still a good stew. There was a small variety of banchan, including beef, but the beef was not unlimited refills. I wish there were a larger variety of banchan, but what we had was still solid. read more

This is my 4th time coming to a Korean bbq and this restaurant does a great job with service. The meat is fresh, servers are friendly and fast. They explain you how the menu works. They had so many dishes you would find if eating in Korea and I found myself immediately impressed. The staff was absolutely fantastic and attentive! It was both of our first time eating at this latest incarnation of the restaurant, but I had flashbacks to my sister and I clocking many hours at the sushi bar here 20+ years ago when it was Kaya. It was a cold, snowy November day, and my wife and I wanted Japanese bento boxes for lunch. So off to a local Japanese restaurant we went, only to find the wait so long that it would be supper by the time we were served. So, off to a Chinese restaurant down the road, only to find that it was closed for some unforeseen reason. So, off to Don Pocha, which was about a mile back in the opposite direction. Eastern Asian we were determined to get! When we arrived at around 12:45, the place was packed, but we were able to get a table. Considering the clientele, we assumed that the food was considered authentic Korean and would be great. When our server came, I asked for one of the Korean drinks on the menu only to find that they were out. After a couple of other tries, I wound up with sparkling water. We had not wanted to spend a fortune for lunch, but the options didn't work out for us. A word to the wise: if you want a cheap lunch, Don Pocha is not the place -- with tip, ours was around $50. I ordered the beef and salad appetizer and dumpling soup, and my wife had beef bulgogi. All was very good, and they served a variety of smaller appetizers to go along with the main dishes. But, I have to say, none of the dishes truly wowed me. My wife's dish was large enough, however, that she was able to get lunch for the next two days out of the leftovers. Will I go back? Eh, who knows. It was good, but not wonderful. And the price was a little beyond what I wanted to pay. If others want to go, maybe. Alone, I doubt it. read more

I love Korean Barbeque like I love Tapas and Fondue (for those of you old enough to remember fondue restaurants). All of these are a slow, social meal. A full Korean barbeque meal (where you cook your food at the table) at Don Pocha involve several hours of sitting around the grill, cooking, tasting, eating, laughing, drinking, asking for more of the delicious pickled radishes, and generally having a leisurely, great time with your family or friends. The quality of food at Don Pocha is excellent. The restaurant interior has been redone, and is lovely. The servers are friendly, albeit they have a huge HELP WANTED sign because they need more help (like every business these days). On this crazy-busy Saturday night they were running like crazy and did their best, and their best was good enough for us. The owner was nice to work us in. We arrived without a reservation on a crazy busy Saturday night. Every table was full, people with reservations were pouring in, other people without reservations came in after us. He was nice and we were patient, and he found us a table within 45 minutes. It was our fault - we should have gotten a reservation. Next time we WILL get a reservation. Korean Barbeque is not a cheap meal, nor a fast meal. It's high-quality ingredients and you tie up one of their cooking tables for several hours. 4 of us ate, drank, talked and laughed for 2 solid hours. We over-ordered, and the bill was $250 with tax and a good tip. That included 2 large Sapporo beers, 2 bottles of Korean black raspberry wine (delicious) and a glass of Riesling. If we were going back, I would order for 4 of us: * Beef Combo $74 (thinly sliced beef brisket, delicious + marinated beef short rib, incredibly delicious + ribeye steak, delicious). * Vegetable BBQ $13 * Dumpling soups $5 each * the same drinks as above This would have been closer to $160 for 4 of us, which is, frankly, cheap for the quality of food and enjoyment of the experience. You also get (included) rice for each person, and probably 8 sides like Kimche, pickled radishes, green onions, potato salad, lettuce salad, etc. You can ask for more of any of the sides. We also ordered the Pork Shoulder $19. It was fine, but without salt or seasoning the grilled pork wasn't very flavorful. I'd probably stick to the beef next time. Toward the end of the night we ordered another thinly sliced Beef Brisket $25. We were all full when it arrived, so all rolled our eyes and said "what did we do?!?". Then we all 4 pounced and devoured every bite. Great meal. Great restaurant. Definitely worth the price, though I'd order less next time because of the included sides and rice... Get a reservation, bring people you love spending time with, and allow 2 hours for a great, social meal. Don Pocha is an absolute gem, and northwest Columbus is really lucky to have it. read more

Careful when ordering Korean bbq and hot pot cuz while portion sizes don't appear too much, all the little side dishes, apps, and rice (soaking up sauces) add up to a filling meal. Our table of 4 ordered a bbq meat sampler (pork belly, thick cut pork shoulder, thin brisket & ribeye), chicken bulgogi hot pot, a kim chi stew, and a seafood pancake appetizer. As in most Korean bbqs, small side dishes of pickled veggies (refilled upon request) came complimentary with our meal as did rice. The standout items were the ribeye and the chicken bulgogi with A-one flavors. Know that since one or two people in your party will be cooking/grilling, flavors and timing are somewhat dependent on your cooks. Korean bbq and hotpot are a very social and casually paced meal. But you control how "done" meats are cooked and aromas are fantastic. Aside from the standout items, the other meats and sides were ok. This place gets pretty busy and like so many other eateries, short-staffing may overwhelm the servers so patience is appreciated. Expect to pay about $30 to $50 per diner for this unique experience. read more

Definitely my favorite KBBQ spot in Columbus right now. For two people, we got the pork/beef combo, steamed egg, and kimchi jjigae. Everything was delicious, and the service here is great as well. I love the atmosphere here because it's not too loud. There's also plenty of parking, so you don't need to ever worry about fighting for a spot. I would take one star off because it's expensive compared to other states. However, for Columbus, the price here is better than other places in town. KBBQ in Columbus is not cheap, so if you're new to KBBQ, I'd say it's usually around $35-$45 per person. read more

Significantly reduce the portion size of food compare to 1 year ago. Most of the food are become at least 1/3 less than before. But the price stay the same. The service is horrible, basically no service. Our server who is a black lady probably had a bad day so she couldn't hold herself, we even ask for the drink two times. Ofc she only checked on us two times when we were eating. We changed our grill pan two times and other servers did that. At the time we paying for check, she was holding the card reader and staring at me while I select the tip options, first time facing this kind of awkward situation. The minimum was 18%, which isn't worth it. We customize it to 15% she looks very pissed and completely ignore us even though I said thank you to her. Will not come back again. (BTW the servers who changed our grill were very helpful and friendly. If any of them were our server I'm willing to pay more tips) read more
