Although they were so far away from me, I was worry-free. A3 is so clean and safe, and Melanie so responsive. My only regret: I knew that it would be unlikely I'd find such great storage and management again. Friends kept telling me horror stories about chain storage facilities which increase prices unexpectedly and repeatedly. And the ones I toured had poor security and/or were dirty. (Thank goodness I finally found another locally managed facility, though not quite up to A3's standard: Melanie spoiled me!) Should you need clean, climate-controlled storage with easy access, decent lighting, and excellent management close to downtown Dallas, this is your place.

I reported it to their customer service and my "complaint was sent to cooperate" but I haven't to hear from anyone. Majority of my items were discarded due to being ruined by rodent feces. The minimal I was able to salvage I was forced to move to a completely different storage facility. I had my storage unit with them for over 4 years, I am truly disgusted and highly dis on how these events came to be. I hope no one goes through this same situation. I lost a lot of cherished items as well as brand new, expensive furniture.

The security system is top notch, cameras everywhere keeping everyone honest who comes in and out. The only downside (minus 1 star) is the facility is not 24/7. You have access to your storage from 5am - 9pm daily. Which is not too bad and quite understandable when you consider the area. Personally I travel a lot and I like the ability to access a storage at any hour however when you consider the customer service, security of the facility its really a no brainer if you live close to the area. I do like the ability to manage your unit online, which includes payments and setting up auto pay. Be aware, you should time your move out wisely. Rent is due monthly on the 1st and if you move out after the 1st the remainder of your rent is forfeited as they do not pro rate for move outs.

In short, it's almost impossible to go through a storage term without some degree of inconvenience. Deep Ellum Storage, however, sets a new mark in what a storage center should be. It has a convenient downtown location, its design allows you to bring even a large truck directly up to your unit (no need to push carts down hallways or into elevators), and the place is across the street from the police department. But beyond location and design, Deep Ellum Storage's biggest asset is its owner, Ed, who couldn't have been nicer to my wife and me. His prices are fair and flexible, he runs a tight ship, and his business is b.s. free. After a year of storing the contents of my home in one of the units, I went to Ed to close out my contract, expecting that I would have to go get some document notarized and signed in blood in order to be able to exit the agreement in 30-60 days. Ed, however, told me that he had taken care of everything, and that he hoped to see us again soon. Who else in his business does that? First off, the price? Hilarious. You'd think for this kind of money, they'd throw in some basics like, I don't know, a working lightbulb or doors that serve their purpose. But nope! The moment the sun sets, the place turns into a pitch-black horror maze where even the rats carry flashlights. The rats. They are the true tenants here. Judging by the sheer volume of droppings, these guys are living large. And the locks and doors? Let's say I've seen rust with more structural integrity. If I sneezed too hard, the hinges would probably fall off. Honestly, I'm not sure if I rented a storage unit or accidentally leased an abandoned meat locker from the '70s. All in all, if you're looking for expensive disappointment, mild tetanus risk, and rodent roommates, look no further. Otherwise, maybe keep driving and try literally anywhere else. Would I recommend?
