My friend wanted to come here for dinner since apparently she loved it so much she went 4 times in 2 weeks. We got there at 6:30 and they were pretty busy for a weekday night. We ordered two of the cold noodle soups, a seafood pancake to share, and I got the spicy beef noodle soup. The seafood pancake came out with the banchan and it was bonb, super crispy and very thick batter with a decent amount of seafood and veggies. The banchan selection here is large, but not that tasty. I only looked the broccoli, bean sprouts, and the seaweed. My spicy beef noodle soup was savory, full of veggies, a bit of noodles, and a little bit spicy it wasn't that spicy at all even though I ordered extra spicy. Prices here are a bit higher than other Korean restaurant in the area. The cold noodle soup here is delicious, it is so refreshing and yummy my friends polished off their entire bowls. The best Korean spot in the East Bay. Before this restaurant, we loved to eat in Daon in Danville. However, Go Goong made the expectation worth it. We ordered take out and everything packed nicely in carton containers. Which is very good looking and convenient to store leftovers. Regarding the food 9 out of 10. After reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. The food was plentiful well priced and excellent. The service was prompt and efficient. There is nothing dance about the decor, but there doesn't need to be. My friend and I each ordered a lunch item. It was served with a sweet potato soup, individual dishes of rice and 7 small plates of kimchee and other pickled vegetables. We are going include it as a future lunch option. Came here for an early dinner with my parents. First of all, I really like their setup inside. The tables are adequately spaced out and the interior has a clean sort of minimalist feel to it. We ordered their bulgogi, seafood & beef tofu soup (no spicy), and sticky rice cake ramen (mild). The smell of the bulgogi cooking from outside is what made us stop here. The meat they use for their bulgogi was lean which we prefer compared to some places that use fattier cuts of beef. Tofu soup was good, cant go wrong there. I was very satisfied with the sticky rice cake ramen. The soup broth was flavorful without being heavy and the ramen and rice cakes were the perfect texture. This was our first time eating at Go Goong in many years. Despite the inconvenience of Covid their food & service does not disappoint. We will definitely be back to try their other dishes. read more

I rarely write reviews but fell compelled to write one because this has never happened to me and I lived in NYC and now the Bay Area. As a Korean American, I always try and support my community so this is a sad moment. I ordered one of my favorite summer dishes, naeng myun, for take out. When I got home and started putting the ingredients together, I was completely shocked to find so little "essential other ingredients". The broth and noodles were standard but the rest of the stuff was scant. Maybe 5 pieces each of pickled cucumber and radish, half a boiled egg and ONLY 1 SLICE OF BEEF! I have probably ordered this dish 1000+ times over the years and never had it without AT LEAST 1 boiled egg and AT LEAST 3+ pieces of beef. Not to mention good amounts of the pickled veggies. I was basically eating a 95% all noodle dish. Taste wise, it was decent but what a huge disappointment! I understand the cost of everything is going up but this is ridiculous. To rush people to order, to eat, and/or to leave as soon as they enter their door will ruin your appetite. We entered their door around 12:35, only to be told by staff Kaylee that we needed to order in five minutes if we wanted to be served because their kitchen was going to close soon. Then she said we would have to leave the restaurant by 1:20 because that's when the restaurant closes. We didn't even sit down before she made you feel rushed and unwelcome. I don't know if their food is good, but I would never want to support a business that doesn't care about people. May they learn the basics of greeting and welcoming people. Support Go Goong during shelter in place! I've been making great efforts to support my local favorites; Go Goong is definitely on my list. Food quality and quantity has not been comprised during COVID. I've ordered Dolsot bim bim bop and microwaved left overs with great success. They give you a large box of pan Chan with your food so you aren't missing out. If you order ramen to go, ask them to separate your noodles from the soup so you can mix them at home. We've ordered more things from the menu including Kim chi stew, fried chicken wings, and tons of dumplings (which they seem to make in house). Since the beginning of COVID, even before the masks order, they have always worn masks so I trust their sanitation. If that's a concern for you, I would not worry. read more

I said it a few times to make sure that she understood that I do not want any meat and that I am vegetarian. But, sure enough, the bibimbap that was brought out to me had beef in it. After I informed them of their mistake, they brought out another bowl of bibimbap & clearly told me that they made me a new bowl of bibimbap. But, there was still some beef in the bowl. They obviously just removed some of the beef, accidentally left a few pieces of beef in the bowl, & returned the bowl back to me & lied to me to make me think that they actually made a new bowl and that they didn't just remove the meat . I can possibly understand that they made a mistake giving me a dish with meat in it (even though I told them repeatedly that I am vegetarian). But, it is the fact that they LIED to me that truly bothers me. As a parent of two children with serious food allergies, I cannot accept that a restaurant does not carefully listen to what their customers tell them and that they try to just cover up their mistakes. Imagine if I informed them that I was allergic to nuts & they still brought me out a dish with nuts and I ask them to make me another dish, but without the nuts, & they proceed to just remove the nuts from the dish & give it to me again. The food would be contaminated with nut allergens & would cause an allergic reaction, anaphylaxis, and possibly death. One other complaint that I have about Go Goong and most every other Korean restaurant that I have been to in the TriValley area - is none of them have brown rice. Go Goong has only white rice & most of the other Korean restaurants have a "mixed grain" rice - which is mostly white rice with a bit of wild rice that colors the rice purplish brown. I try to eat healthy & eat whole grain food - so it is disappointing to be served only white rice that is very unhealthy because of the high sugar & low fiber content. However, after our food was delivered no one came back to check in on us to see if we needed more water, etc. Food: Nice selection of banchan, but usually with the small dishes there's also a small jap chae or pancake included (or my usual spot is just very generous!). First impression is always the most important. I decided to try this new restaurant after seeing strong Yelp reviews when they opened only to see them fade recently. I see why. You don't make people wait and walk right by them when a line up is gathering even though there's a sign up list. How about simply greeting people? Second, I'm first in line and signed in, and you give our table away to some guy who isn't even on the list and his party hadn't arrived. The waiter host (with the tinted brown hair) then tells him to seat regardless of his party not being present. Ridic! Then I order Bibimnaeugmyun and they tell me it's seasonal, then why the heck do you put it on the menu? "Not til April". Then the seafood pancake gets tossed on the table while the waitress owner runs off...they run around like a fire drill in progress. Ordered sweet spicy chicken wings and not bad though a little on the sweet side. Food went really south when the bibimbap with short ribs arrived at $17.99. Are you freaking kidding me? Two pieces of riblets that sell for $3.99/lb in any Korean supermarket. Even worse, the two riblets were chewy and fatty. I think the ROI in this dish might have been 1700%. This was so freaking insultingly awful and a rip off. My fiancée ordered the Yukeejang, spicy shredded beef soup, where the meat tasted like it came from the bottom of the cow's feet. I'm so happy they decided to open this restaurant here! I have been on the search for my go-to Korean food restaurant and I think I've found it! This restaurant is located in the same plaza as Cafe Tapioca, UPS, and Paris Baguette. Come earlier to avoid a wait! We ordered the sweet and spicy chicken appetizer, kimchi fried rice, bulgolgi, bibim naengmyun cold noodles, and soft tofu beef stew. The ban chan came out with the first dish, and I really enjoyed their ban chan! They were fresh and tasty, but I wish it came out earlier. The sweet and spicy chicken appetizer was okay, it had too much sauce for me. The tofu stew was okay as well. We ordered spicy, which wasn't extremely spicy, more like a medium. But it didn't have very much taste to me. They gave a nice portion of tofu and beef, though! Everything else was delicious! The bibim naengmyun is basically cold spicy noodles and I enjoyed the taste, it's one of the better ones I've tried! The kimchi fried rice was a bit oily but it was still good. The bulgolgi was delicious, it was made over onions and cabbage and it was a great portion for lunch. The service was very friendly, they were constantly check on us and filling our waters! We came across this Korean place during our brief stay at Pleasanton,California. What caught my attention was their cold noodles since it was a hot summer day outdoors. The buckwheat noodles had a nice chewy texture and the icy broth was so refreshing with a light sweet but slight vinegar taste, no meat in the dish but with some julienne of cucumber,carrots and some thin slices of pickled daikon radish and pear. The cooling sensation during the high summer heat was soothing and comforting. The Jhap chae dish which my other half ordered was served piping hot with a welcoming smell from it's stir fry. Their ban chan side dishes were tasty, especially the kimchi was so delicious which we finished fast and the server brought us more. This is one of our go to KBQ places that has pretty tasty Korean Fried Chicken. Service is usually moderately prompt but for some reason they often have open tables with a few parties still waiting. The banchan is usually a descent spread (radish, cabbage kimchee, radish kimchee, konjyaku, bean sprouts (sukjunamul), broccoli, tofu and once in a while those tasty little fish (myeolchi bokkeum) Their Large size of Kalbi is a descent portion compared to many of the surrounding KbQ restaurants- unless you want to travel to Concord (Korea House) or Castro Valley (Tofu House). Unlike many restaurants they offer pork belly here as well as the Korean fried chicken which are both tasty. So why the 2 stars? Well they for some reason don't turn on the Air Condition here. Came here this past Sunday with a group of friends. It was crowded around 1pm, but we didn't have to wait too long. Parking lot was more full than I expected. The banchan small dishes were good but nothing too special. I liked the fish cake, broccoli and bean sprouts. However, they took forever to arrive.
