(Ultimately, if you're someone who doesn't eat as much meat, I do think Spring Shabu Shabu is a better bang for your buck, since they charge a flat rate for ayce veggies, tofu, and fish balls). First, you pick out which broth you want - they can do up to three. The spicy one goes from one pepper to three peppers. We asked for the three and the waitress very generously said it was too much to handle, so we went with two and even that was rough. We tried maybe three pieces before giving up and moving to the mushroom/herbal chicken choices, which were much better. The herbal chicken one was especially stellar. Order a side of rice for the end after the soup has soaked in everything you've dunked in it. We got the veggie platter, celtuce, fish balls, frozen tofu, regular tofu, and two meat platters. Everything came out fast and was fresh. I saw them slicing the meat fresh so I felt pretty good about the odds of food poisoning with raw meat just sitting out, since it all goes straight into the boiling broth. As with other hot pot places, Qiao Lin offers a decked-out sauce bar, which includes fruit (orange slices and grapes), dessert (mango sago, mung bean porridge), appetizers (pickled veggies, marinated pig ears, edamame), and an assortment of candies. They also have an extensive drinks menu, with lots of milk-based drinks to help with the spice. Not a lot of parking options, mostly limited street meters, so I suggest taking public transport or walking. All that said, my hair and clothes smelled pretty funky after the meal, to the point where I would be trying to sleep and I'd get a whiff. And Happy Lamb has sooo many sauce options. They have a lot of broth options, protein options, and when it comes to the rest of the fillings they're buffet style. The produce and seafood is chilled and refrigerated well, and in the same area there are a variety of hot items to choose from also. A fun bonus is in addition to fountain drinks being included, there's a self serve station offering mango juice, sweet tea, and unsweetened tea. The mango juice is GREAT!! I got the mushroom cross while my partner got the classic bone broth. We got the pork, garlic chicken, and beef slices. My only complaint is we were in a huge fan of the chicken because it doesn't quite cook as well as the other meats for this style, but there may be other others who enjoy it this way. My soup got sausages, mushrooms, and taro root. My partner got cabbage, pumpkin, radish, potato, udon, and shrimp. It's just so good! If you're a fan of hot pot this is a great place. If you've never tried it it's also a great option for a first experience.

Very special traditional Chinese food. Most of the dishes are Northeastern style (Dongbei) or Sichuan style. Remember to tell your server if you can't eat very spicy, and they can recommend some less spicy or non-spicy dishes for you. I really like the sautéed shredded beef with long horn pepper. If you can't eat very spicy, you can ask them make it mild spicy. read more

It took about 14 minutes for my food to be bagged and ready to go. The noodle dish was not spicy which actually had strips of tender beef (instead of pork), long beans (cut), and scallions in soft thick round udon noodles. The dish tasted just fine, but the portion size was slightly smaller, even at the discounted price. It was only two weeks ago, I ordered a similar noodle dish at a popular Chinese restaurant (Mama Lu's) in SoCal at about the same price and got double the food.
