A fine, surprisingly refreshing burger meal with friendly service in a small neighborhood setting. We were attracted by Yelp reviews and were pleased by the balanced verdant burgers. My $13.75 bacon egg burger had a 6 oz patty enveloped in melted cheese, two strips of crispy bacon, a perfectly fried egg with liquid gold yolk, and with fresh fix-ins like a red cabbage slaw, lettuce doused in "house sauce," and tomato, all in something like a Martin's potato bun (may have actually been Martin's). The $10.25 veggie burger had a pillowy texture but a nice flavor. Distinct peas were present. The $5.75 prickly pear lemonade was refreshing.

Im 5 feet 2 inches for reference. I have tiny hands. For $14/15 this burger was so small.

Waste of money. Burger looked as sad as it tasted. Soooooooo disappointed. I called to let them know my burger was missing ingredients and was ridiculously small for the price. I love the decor, the graphics and cool SpongeBob band drawn pictures up and around this tiny spot in park slope. The food choices were cool and I loved the rock star themed dishes that was neat. It was a weekday afternoon so crowd was thin which is good because it's only one dining table inside. I didn't wait long for my food which was served fresh and hot!! I also got a shake not pictured which was delicious I had to give four stars because after one bite the burger was literally falling apart in my hands which was messy!!! Nice spot to drop in if you live in the neighborhood

This is a nice local hole in the wall - good food, good vibes, and even sweeter service. The place is run by a sweet and accommodating lady who makes a really fking good simple fried chicken sandwich. Warm and soft buttered potato bun, perfectly fried and heated chicken, and a nice coleslaw, nothing else you want to ask for. Her service and care extends beyond the dish and she made me feel so at home. If you're looking for a comforting sandwich with comforting and awesome vibes, please come swing by. 4* for food, 5* for vibes.

Ordered delivery and it was so fast! I've been here several times over the years and the first time I went was phenomenal. Within the last year, it was ok but it's picking back up! The pulled pork burgers are my go tos, they're moist and savory and flavorful. The jalapeño poppers are soo crispy and done so perfectly. The layer of dough is not too thick and it has a good balance of cheese and Mac. The cole slaw is ok - on the underwhelming side but not bad. But nothing special about it. It's a good balance between the heavier things though. Overall, it's a good find for comfort food. I'm a big fan of their police box door, being a fan of the Doctor!

The decor in this joint is pretty great with its cool mural, and it's a good location. However, the vegan Impossible burger was pretty lackluster, and had to be ordered without cheese? Now that I look more closely at the menu I wonder if the "house sauce" was vegan. I asked the cashier what my vegan options were and she recommended this burger. Maybe it was vegan cheese and I should have left it on, or maybe the house sauce isn't vegan? Hard to tell. I should have asked more questions, because she was not offering up much info on her own. Tater Tots we solid though. The tables in the small dining area are not very functional with large gaps between the slats of wood. I had to be careful how I set down my drink and the ketchup bottle each time so it wouldn't tip over. The animal based burgers look pretty solid, but as a vegan I will skip it.

There are few things more delicious than fried chicken, in all shapes and forms, in all the ways it's permeated American comfort food. The buttermilk fried chicken burger from Gnarly Eats is a gift from the gods--tender and flavorful with the perfect combination of the house spicy mayo and pickled red cabbage and coleslaw to compliment the chicken. At first glance, the burger might seem small, but rest assured that this must've been a deliberate choice to protect customers' waist sizes... after all, it's more than filling (especially if you decide to get a side of their sweet potato fries!). Somehow, despite how many times I've had this sandwich, I've always managed to walk past Gnarly Eats on 7th Avenue. It's truly a hole-in-the-wall, though I can tell that the owner put thought into the decor (a TARDIS front door and Polaroids galore)? Modern Brooklyn at its finest. Open for delivery and takeout during the pandemic. Can't wait until I can eagerly scarf down their food in neighboring Prospect Park again.

Came to Gnarly Eats with a friend after hanging out on a Sunday evening. It was a tiny restaurant but very cozy! My friend was in the mood for a burger and after checking it out on Google Maps, the 4.4/5 rating was enough to convince us it was worth a try. I ordered their Impossible Burger, my friend had the Classic Burger and then we split hand cut French fries. The total came up to $32, which was a bit pricey for a casual burger spot but we were in Park Slope so I knew what that would be the situation. The vibes were nice though so it was worth the money. The food was also delicious. I pretty much inhaled my burger (according to my friend, lol). I loved the Polaroids on the wall as well as the chalk drawing of SpongeBob and Patrick around the room. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a quick bite in the neighborhood. Thanks for having us, Gnarly Eats! I hope y'all offer us the opportunity to have our pic posted on the wall next time :)

I got to visit tonight after a random pick with my little ones. Even though o had to leave in a hurry, I enjoyed what I did get to experience. The fries and onions rings were a classic version. I appreciated the different condiment available for the customers to use. I didn't get to eat my burger but my god daughter did. And she said the burger was so good. So I'll take her word for it. I'll do an update after I get to eat my food. But for now I appreciate the freshness of the food that came out pretty fast. The decor was cute and quaint. My only negative thing I have to say is that they didn't have a bathroom. Which is why I had to leave early due to one of the children. Other than that it was kool. Hope to visit again and actually enjoy my food there.

Classic Burger and an Impossible burger with some fries

After all that Thanksgiving food I was in the mood for a burger. I'm not from Bk so my friend found this spot. It had good reviews so we popped in. The place is small but welcoming. They had really photos of past guests on the wall and a nice SpongeBob and Patrick drawing. Ordering was quick and easy. We sat down and devoured our food. The fries were perfect, well seasoned too. I would definitely go back and I recommend it to anyone looking for some good eats.

This is the best place I have ever been to. If you're around here definitely go. I got the Grateful Dead burger "gnarly burger" and it was cooked PERFECTLY. Medium well. Then we both got strawberry milkshakes and the kitchen sink fries with no spicy. And wow. Like wow. This was the best meal I have ever eaten.

Classic burger and beer battered onion rings

I've been hearing and reading great reviews about this place so I decided to give it try. Plus, I was craving a burger so... I ordered the classic burger and a side of beer battered onion rings to go. The classic burger consists of 6 oz. Angus beef patty with American cheese, caramelized onions, red leaf lettuce, tomato, pickled red cabbage and house sauce on a soft airy potato bun. FULL DISCLAIMER: I ordered there and waited for my food. The minute he gave me my food, I actually took the food out to set up a food shot. (don't judge me) I immediately felt the burger was wet and greasy. The onion rings were hot AF but super crispy. (Yes, I ate one and burn my mouth). Once I was done taking a few food pics, I packed everything up and walked a few blocks home. Once I got home to eat, the burger was a soggy mess. The onion rings were still crunchy and hot. Clearly, the burger does not travel well but to be fair it was already wet to begin with. Overall, the burger was ok despite the soggy mess. The meat itself needed a little more flavor or even a pinch of salt would do. The onion rings were meaty and delicious. This place definitely has potentials and has other menu items that are worth a try. I would give it a second chance... but maybe just not the burger.

Not an Impressive Fried Chicken Sandwich

This is a rounded up rating . Gnarly scores well on pricing , being a byob and portion size . Taste wise it is anything but almost perfect which is what it's rated on yelp. My review is based on their fried chicken sandwich and their Brisket sliders , both seemingly popular choices . The chicken sandwich - Massive pieces of lightly breaded chicken seasoned well but not quite as juicy as I'm used to . The chipotle sauce was an absolute mess dripping out the sandwich on every bite and did little to add any flavor to the sandwich.The bun was not toasted and again didn't help the sandwich . A thicker less watered down sauce ,juicier chicken and more slaw would have made this sandwich alot better. Overall I'd rate the sandwich 3.5/5. The Brisket slider was again generously portioned with heaping amounts of brisket in two good sized slider buns. The brisket was drenched in a too sweet somewhat honey ish sauce that was yuck ! The brisket itself was not melt in your mouth quality and took a lot of chewing to break down . A simpler sandwich with wonder bread and better brisket would have done the trick way better. Gnarly has a lot of potential but it's not a place I can say I'd surely visit again . I rounded up because the lady manning the restaurant was extremely kind and outgoing and made my meal a little more enjoyable than it should have been .

Excellent brisket sandwich and solid sweet potato fries. Brisket is sweet, with a rich flavor. The sauce is almost like a marmalade. The food here is a bit heavy but will leave you satisfied. I'd recommend eating it there or reheating it if you get it delivered, as I don't think the quality would be the same if you let it sit longer than 20 minutes. Decor is nice, an eclectic kind of quirky. It's small but good for dining in pairs or by yourself. Was my first time, but the impression was strong enough for me to come back. read more

I'm a tad disappointed that I rely heavily on reviews before choosing a place to eat, then to be totally let down afterwards. I went with my boyfriend and we had the buttermilk chicken, which I'm not even entirely sure what chicken that was since it neither looked or tasted right. We also had their wings, a burger and loaded sink fries. The fries were the only tasty thing we ate. The place itself is super small. I wouldn't recommend staying their to eat. After being informed that we could use the restroom next door (at the barber shop), since they do not have one available, I went and was told that I had the wrong information. What I wasn't prepared for, was the next hour or so I spent shitting my brains out at the nearest McDonald's. I will never. ever. go back. read more

Passing thru the neighborhood, which has changed a ton, I quickly looked up a fast affordable place to eat and this place came up. We missed the place a few times since they are fairly new and don't really have any signage outside that you can see clearly. The place is tiny but very inviting due to the the decor, its simple yet clever. We both ordered burgers, I had the burger with the fried egg and it was delicious. The burger was not greasy and it actually settled in my stomach nicely unlike a franchise burger joint that unsettles your stomach, i am not sure what beef they use but if i remembered correctly it's angus beef. The pink lemonade with Basil was very refreshing i would go back just for that alone. I recommend this place if you are in a hurry and hungry. read more

Dropped by after the gym as I was hungry and wanted to see what was around in the area. Saw that Gnarly Eats had a great yelp rating and decided to give it a shot. Food: 5/5 - Got the pulled pork sandwich and cole slaw. Was very tasty, and plenty of food. Service: 5/5 - Gnarly Eats has a total of six seats - so it's a pretty intimate dining experience. Sat at the counter and chatted with the owner while we ate, which was cool Value: 5/5 - Affordably priced, especially for what you get. Ambiance: 3.5/5 - I'm a bit claustrophobic, so when it comes to tiny places I'm not too big of a fan. That being said, it's a cozy venue, and the owner said they may expand the seating in the future. If you're looking for a quick eat, though, it's perfectly good. I'll be back! read more

This place is great. Delicious junk food made with better quality ingredients. SO good. It's a very hip place without being hipster. VERY casual and VERY TINY place. They do stuff like packaging the burger fixings separately to prevent sogginess when you order delivery/takeout, so you realize this is a place that really cares about the food they're putting out. Whoa. This place is no joke. For a girl who doesn't eat much meat, and definitely doesn't fried meat, I ate the fried chicken sandwich in about 2 minutes. It is DELICIOUS!!! The sweet potato fries are also awesome, and are seasoned and cooked to perfection! The staff was so helpful and friendly as well! This place is tiny but delivers a big punch! This place was very nice and cozy. The food and service was phenomenal. I started off with the jalapeño mac and cheese poppers, They were fried to perfection and had just the right kick. I also had the buttermilk chicken sandwich which was very juicy and topped with coleslaw and a tasty house sauce ( I believe she said it was a spicy sirachi type mayo). Again I want to highlight how great the service was and can't wait to come back and try the ice cream when the weather gets better! read more

New place in the hood! I had to try it! This place is very small but they have about 6 seats if you want to have a quick bite. The customer service is great. We ordered the gnarly burger, chicken burger, milkshake and sweet potato fries. The burgers were less than $10 and they very very juicy. I would definitely come back for more. read more

It was my first time there. The place is small but really cozy and cute. Originally, I couldn't decide what to get. So I only ordered their kitchen sink fries, and it was so DELICIOUS!!! Best fries bowl I ever have...It has everything on it, feel so satisfying after I finished it...love the spicy mayo and sunny egg on the top, a Really special taste. Came here for a light dinner with hubby. I Got the mighty wings and my were they mighty amazing! Super Crunchy from the outside and juicy and filled with flavor from the inside. I would also recommend the pickled pear lemonade as it was very refreshing. The girl there was very nice and courteous. Def will be coming back! read more

These sandwiches are on point! Gnarly Eats is a great place to go if you love rich, satisfying food with fresh ingredients. I had the pulled pork sandwich with a delicious crunchy coleslaw and the spicy sauce on the side. My husband had the Gnarly Eats burger, which comes with a fried egg on top and tastes amazing.The mint and hibiscus lemonade was especially refreshing after our heavy meal. This place serves up a creative variety of food for such a petite menu. The staff will take great care of you! They really work hard to give you the best experience possible. It doesn't hurt that they have a police call box, à la Dr. Who, decorating the front door. read more

Great Spot to eat at, especially after a workout from the Prospect Park YMCA. Can I just say, De-li-cious! I got the Classic Burger with a side of Sweet Potatoes. It came out sooner than I expected! Brisket sliders were full of flavor. Had some jalapeño slices, savory sauce and perfect. Onion rings fresh and well flavored batter. Original burgers very good but nothing special. Only negative, no bathroom for patrons. Had to run across the street to a bar to use a bathroom. read more

Strolling around Prospect Park on a Saturday really builds an appetite for burgers which is easily satisfied at Gnarly Eats. First impression of the shop is the trendy decor and the limited seating. I got the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with fries and strawberry mint beverage. The fried chicken was so darn good! Moist and perfectly fried in between a potato bun... it is everything I look for in a chicken sandwich. The strawberry mint was freshly juiced and it was a little more on the sweeter side for my taste. We also got the beef brisket sandwich which are more of two mini sliders that were surprisingly filling. Looking forward to coming back and trying all the other gnarly eats on the menu! read more

Ordered delivery multiple times- the cheeseburger is always delicious, as well as the fries. Boyfriend tried the chicken sandwich and it was super tasty. I love the way they package the items, so nothing arrives soggy. Would definitely order again and plan on visiting in person! read more

This is probably my favorite burger spot ever. This place is so charmingly cute and the ambiance is to die for. The staff is always friendly and the food is always fresh. I would recommend coming her during the week as that is when it will be less crowded but other than that it is always a great time here. read more

Never got to try their food. Made an order for delivery. Estimated delivery shifted continuously. Called. Not to press the point, simply to ask if the order had been received. "Talk to seamless." Talked to seamless. Seamless contacted restaurant and told me it wasn't happening. OK. Walk to kitchen to start cooking--within seconds-- Call from restaurant "this is your driver, did you cancel your order?" "Yes but I'm still willing to take it, I just was told it Wasn't happening" "Yeah, I don't get paid for that and I'm not going to drive 5 minutes for nothing-click" Would never complain on yelp, but just treated rudely AGAIN after forgiving it and walking to kitchen to cook after simply asking whether or not my order was received hours after ordering. So Gnarly Eats, you know where to put it. THANKS!!!! read more

I work right next door in the barbershop and was really excited for this place to open up and once they did, boom I am in there. The place looks amazing as well as the staff. Food omg, I would give it 6 out of 5 stars! The best burger I have ever tasted, and the ice cream as a dessert goes awesome!! I came here for lunch a few times. I tried their buttermilk chicken burger and classic burger. I think it is good for the price, although I hoped the buttermilk chicken is more crispy. I like the atmosphere and decorations. I think overall it is a very nice lunch spot. read more

I honestly can't say enough about the quality of burgers that my bf escaped with. I ordered the Gnarly burger and he, the brisket. I was definitely apprehensive cuz our selection was a shot in the dark ..took MORE than a few minutes to prepare which alarmed me a bit, being there were only 2 orders before us. I've ordered from here a few times and the food is delicious (gnarly burger and cheese fries ). It's hard to find a place that delivers that also makes sure to package your food so you don't receive soggy/subpar food. I appreciate their attention to detail. Honestly I think this place thinks they are alot better than they actually are. The food is OK, tends to be be very sloppy. I'm not a big fan of that whole sloppy, dripping sandwich means it's good mentality. Portions are a bit smaller than you would think. Worse is, ive also ordered this to my house and you get a note with a lecture about how you can't expect delivery to be good bc it gets cold and they say you shouldn't be ordering, you should come in to really appreciate it. I'm dead serious... You get a lecture with your food. And you have to assemble it. I may as well cook it too. If you don't believe you can deliver and have it taste good then just don't deliver. I don't know what kind of magic all these other places have that they can deliver delicious hot food. But maybe you should hook up with them. read more

I recently befriended a fellow pop culture enthusiast and author who lives in Brooklyn, and he invited me to his book release party for his family and friends at his home on Sunday afternoon. When I Google-mapped my driving route, I wondered if Brennan & Carr might be close enough that I could go there after the afternoon party. To my surprise and joy, they were 5 minutes away! So I finally got to try a B&C RB sammie. Of course, I asked for it "all the way," with cheese, onions, and fully dipped in the au jus. That first bite was like a little taste of (roast beef) heaven!!! That first surge of "hot beef" flavor is unforgettable! I was amazed that the hefty bun it came on was able to simultaneously soak up all that au jus without falling apart at all! It maintained its integrity all the way to the final bite. Which, by the way, I could BARELY finish, it was so filling! There are a lot of little burger stops popping up everywhere and to tell u the truth it's overwhelming and most of them seem over rated and that's why it was so refreshing to come across Gnarly Eat's Burger. This is the special little gems burger spot. They have a huge variety of different burgers and they focused on quality and small menu. Burgers aren't hard to make but to make an amazing burger is hard. They also have hit mighty wings that are great, actually the best that i ever had. The burgers themselves, i had buttermilk fried chicken burger, while my boyfriend had gnarly burger both are juicy and never over cooked. i meant the burger juice literally pop out of your mouth while you bite it down. I just ordered from Gnarly Eats for the first time. I had read some reviews and as it is local to me i thought i would try it out. Whatever expectations i had were totally blown away. The delivery was extremely quick. I ordered the double gnarly burger with egg, onions and bacon as well as the jalepeno mac and cheese balls. To my surprise the burger came packed in separate containers to keep if from getting soggy. I thought that was ingenious. i started with the mac & cheese balls and they were amazing. Not greasy at all, fried perfectly and sent with a wonderful (i think sriracha aioli. Putting the burger together was a lot of fun. This was the first time i have ever order a medium rare burger to be delivered and actually received a medium rare burger. it was perfectly cooked. The eggs were perfectly runny. For you see, last night, my brother & I experienced the glory of Gnarly Eats. My taste buds were blown away. Profoundly juicy & perfectly portioned double cheeseburger with fries crispy to perfection. Gourmet flavor meets home-style simplicity. GNARLY EATS! is a place kinda gnarly small. Can't say it's easy to find a seat there when I went In, but the basic burger was a I stand hit with me. I really like the contrast between sweetness of the pickled cabbage and the juicy seared Angus beef. The onion rings were nice and fluffy. I've been meaning to review this place ever since they opened. After having a good experiences I've decided that I need to share this burger joint as well. The owner of this restaurant kept all of the positive aspects built up and added a chill vibe with a laid back theme. You don't come across great burger in Brooklyn, NY I'm an easy girl. regular burger, flavorful potatoes, some buttered toast -- I'm so happy to pick this place after I saw it on yelp. My girl friend is actually a regular, usually for takeout, and told me about this place. See? she knows the way to my heart, I mean cravings. The interior decor has hints of blue and is pretty chic. This is the best local burger joint place in nyc. I came here yesterday because I saw the yelp reviews and I didn't regret to stand in the cold weather. I waited about 20 minutes for a table on a Sunday night, it was so cold outside but the restaurant inside was very cozy. We ordered the buttermilk fried chicken burger, mighty wings, classic burger and of course our favorite lemonade. They were delicious. We will come back soon. Cheap eats, made to order burger! I missed this spot the last time I was NYC so I made sure I visit it this time and I can definitely say it's worth all the hype! I always ordered my favorite, burger with bleu cheese, bacon, and caramelized onion it can be a bit expensive but trust me the price is worth it! You may want to have yours in medium rare because having it well done completely eliminates the burger juice!!! No fun!! What you read about this place is all true! Awesome neighborhood spot! Pretty good sized space in a small restaurant, with a two table outdoor seating area. The host there the night I went was great! She was really nice and had helpful recommendations. They have a pretty good burger selection, which is always exciting! Prices are totally reasonable and they have lunch special deals. The first thing I noticed coming in was a sort of homey feeling and ambiance aided by the rough wood features and abundance of plants in the space with tons of chalkboard art. This is a solid burger spot, extremely affordable price at a fraction. Their menu was named after the popular rock band, i think it is super cool. You can't miss this spot if you are in the area. This is a hole in a wall spot, so look for the tardis door. YES, i meant "Doctor Who"'s tardis door at the entrance. It always the small places that bring the big taste. I really enjoyed the buttermilk chicken burger and strawberry basil lemonade. The fries were a bit soggy but the onion rings were great! I'd highly suggest eating in as I can not image how well the food would travel and it seems best fresh out the kitchen. What else makes this place great, the service. Walk by this place on a regular basis for some time now, and finally the portobello mushroom was calling my name loud enough for me to answer...but when I get in I just had to try the Grateful Dead Burger (Dead Head 4 Life!). This is a really small spot in Park Slope and we were lucky to find two seats at the bar on a Saturday night around 8pm. The host was attentive and friendly. This is the small burger joint located on the south slope. Here for the second time, and they did not fail to deliver. The Grateful Dead and the mighty wings was even better than I remembered. The food here is delicious, and considering the neighborhood it is in, I feel adequately priced and rationed, considering there are a few opportunities for this burger joint (should you call it that, because this restaurant does not serve burgers in the traditional sense), to cut corners. They do not cut corners here. A short walk off the F train, near the infamous Smith-9th Street station, it is a good thing that you have this station nearby, for convenience and because of all the calories you will consume here and have to burn off afterwards. I got a Triple Threat deal of a burger, fries, and a shake (who does that these days? With A SHAKE, no less!). I got a Crunch Time Burger in honor of my NBA Champion Knicks, along with a Sweet Cookie (their Oreo) milkshake. As they do not cut corners with their food, I will not cut corners with my review of their food. The burger is outstanding. Perfectly cooked with a nice meaty flavor, with a little smoke, the chips add a nice crunch and character; the Ramblin' sauce a solid substitute for the sour cream and onion sauce that is used on it. No regrets with the substitution. The fries are hand cut, and as someone who has cut back on eating fries here in the States now, could not help but eat them all. They taste outstanding with just the right amount of seasoning and the right portion size. I was not cheated. I saved the milkshake with my meal and you absolutely have to do that here. It is creamy, full of flavor, a nice portion size, and eating chunks of Oreo at the bottom only adds bonus points to the meal. I have no complaints at all. Throughout the meal I was talking with the owner about my experience, asking her every question I could think of. At first I thought she thought me annoying and a nuisance, but honestly, her honesty is refreshing to hear, compared to the BS other owners tend to sell when offering their offerings.
