I come from a family of mechanics, and when my auto-mechanic brother retired from the business, I had to find an outside (the family) source to work on my vehicles. This quest left me with many unimpressive and expensive experiences. Then, I happened across Dan at GN Northwest and my search was over. This has been several years ago now, and I consider myself incredibly lucky. He is the only mechanic I've come across that I trust like my brother. He is professional, incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, ethical and honest, amazingly helpful, and has the utmost integrity. He has always been able to troubleshoot and repair my vehicle issues, explains repairs and pricing, keeps costs to a minimum, and never tries to up-sell me on unnecessary repairs/replacements even when I've suggested something be done in an attempt to be pro-active. He is always going out of his way to help his customers maintain their vehicles as affordably as possible, and without unnecessary expenses. He is consistent and timely about communicating, and (amazingly) has an incredibly clean, organized shop (you should have seen my dad's (o:). Because I trust Dan and his crew so much, I refer GN Northwest to all my connections in need of auto repair work. Amazingly, one of my friends I referred went to see Dan after I referred him, and was thrilled. He used to use Dan's services before GN Northwest moved to it's existing location, and hadn't known where the business moved to. He was grateful to re-establish business with Dan, and is now a happy, loyal customer again. This is a great indicator of an impressive business, that has made such a positive impact on customers for so long. Not just great, but beyond great. The first time I worked with Dan, my son's car failed emissions back in 2006. We took it to Dan, he called a couple of days later and said the car was done and had passed emissions. I was so impressed that he had taken it to get tested and saved us time. If your Nissan Xterra 06' has a problem with it getting stuck on 4 low or 4 high and you can't do anything to fix it yourself, you have referred to the manual and still no luck . I would suggest taking it in to Dan. How I hate this car and still have it who knows. Dan had fixed the catalytic converter on my car 2 years ago and car runs smooth without a problem. Just recently the car had been stuck in 4 high and I could not for the life of me get it out of 4wd. I had two shops (Net Auto Cafe & Dave's Trans Service) look at it before I took it to Dan and they said the computer doesn't pull up a diagnostic code in order for them to know what is wrong. Ok, do we really have to rely on a code to figure out what is wrong with my car?! I took it to Dan which I should have in the first place and he had fixed it found bad relay and replaced it with new relay with reasonable cost. Wonderful, car works fine now . Car was taken to GN Northwest to be looked at after theft and recovery of vehicle. Items missing upon recovery are catalytic converter, Battery ,Air cleaner intake box and all hoses , Headlights removed and left on seat. Drivers door would not open. Damage to gas line. Car was taken to GN Northwest by a acquaintance due to the owner of shop is his friend. No authorization from me to preform any work was given. No estimate given. No description of work that needed to be done provided . As per the law and my rights. Work was preformed on vehicle without authorization and damage done to car. This consists of straight piping of vehicle instead of replacement of catalytic converter, rattles badly and o2 sensor is missing and is also illegal to do and have on your car. Air cleaner intake box replaced but just sitting in engine compartment and no hoses. Door now opens but paneling on door is just left dangling and clips broken, parts are missing from door, pieces falling off when door handle used, speaker not working, rectangular piece above door panel broken and on the floor. And that's just the tip of the problem! Now on my dashboard a big red SMS light appears that was not there before. The clock on the dashboard is no longer working and most importantly the car is loud and does not sound right when I'm sitting at a light after car is warm it's normal and then goes high and then normal again. My acquaintance paid this business $320.00 dollars to get my car back. The only work preformed on my car that has been done correctly is my gas line and windshield wipers and all work preformed with no authorization from owner of car. I have personally gone to Mr. Dan Miller owner of the business and expressed all of this only to be fed verbal vomit, and treated as if I'm unintelligent and should not be complaining. The second time I paid a visit to Mr. Dan Miller he became upset and started to throw items in his shop. I quickly left I was not safe! Do not take your car to this business. Stay away! For the safety of your self in many ways and to avoid further damage done to your car. read more

I wax a customer of GNN when it was Speedway Automotive years ago and then I moved away for five years. When I returned last fall my Explorer Sport Trac just froze in Renton so I had it towed nearby. Three hundred dollars got me trouble shooting and a new battery. One week later it froze again down south. I tried another shop nearby and was told it was a starter and it had a whole host of things to do that came to $4K. I towed it all the way to Everett to GNN. I live in the Renton area andI had a 87 Buick Turbo car for 20 plus years. I have been looking for a repair shop in western Washington for a long time that focused on working on my Buick, then i came across these guys online. This used to be Speedway Automotive on Beverly Park Rd. in Mukilteo. I've been taking my cars to Dan since 2005. I would not consider taking them anywhere else. His shop is not convenient to my house, but no matter. When you find a good honest mechanic, you get there! His new shop should be convenient for most people, as it is right off Evergreen Way not far from Home Depot. I don't race cars or drive performance cars. He does, but he is very happy to fix my old vehicles. He doesn't look down on them just because they aren't anything special as far as cars go (hey, I love you cars, but let's be real). He's really more of an American car guy, but will work on other cars or at least help you figure out what's wrong. read more

I am new to the area and when calling around, Dan was able to give me the quickest, most honest, and cheapest quote. So I dropped my car off and after less then an hour, Dan called and said it wasn't my alternator and he only had to reset my electrical system and my car was able to start! So he said he would keep my car and keep rechecking and restarting it and drive it around a couple times to make sure it was ok before he gave it back to me. He was very thorough. Dan and team did an outstanding job on completing the 60k routine maintenance on my Lexus RX-350. His quote was less than half the dealership rate for the same service, and the actual bill was 10% less than the quote! Communications were good and they even dropped me off at my nearby job. I brought up a noise I was hearing in the steering column. They couldn't hear it as it didn't happen at the shop (always the case, right?) but Dan investigated online looking for service bulletins which he printed out for me. These guys clearly know what they're doing, as they also do a lot of high end car modifications for maxing horsepower on muscle cars. I am not great with car problems - in fact, I'm pretty terrible with them (case in point, the other reviewer mentions Dan is good with American cars - I have no idea if my car is American. I do know that it is white). I'm usually the one to have to make embarrassing noises in order to tell anyone what's going on with my car. Driving down from Vancouver, BC to Portland, I stopped to get gas in Everett and couldn't restart my car. Not knowing anyone in the area, I looked on yelp for nearby auto shops. GN Northwest had good reviews, so I called them and Dan came down the road to where I was stranded to do a quick diagnosis. He saw the problem right away, a loose wire which he reattached and crimped so it wouldn't come loose again. No charge! What a decent, honest man! I had plans to see my family on christmas, plus started a brand new job the day after, so my car died on me at THE WORST possible freaking time. My truck was having engine problems and the dealer wanted $6,900 just to do the heads. I talked to Dan and we looked at the mileage and he suggested to put in a new engine. Problem fixed cheaper than the dealer and a complete new engine! He was very honest about the cost (accurate quote) and the work to be completed. He also mentioned the fact that due to the age of my vehicle the cost of the new engine would be about what the vehicle was worth! So armed with the correct information I was able to make a good decision and replace the engine. This is by far the best shop in Everett, WA. I've known proprietor Dan Miller for many years, as he's been the car mechanic of choice for my parents, my wife, and myself. He previously replaced the motor on my 1990 Ford pickup truck, so I knew he was the man to do the same for my 1986 Mustang. I'm the original owner and wouldn't entrust my almost-classic to just anyone. Dan went about the job thoughtfully, doing lots of online research and choosing not just the biggest motor but rather the one that performs and suits my needs best: a Ford racing 306 motor with numerous upgrades including aluminum heads, 303 cam, 340 hp, 350 foot pounds of torque. Dan is one very diligent mechanic. Dan is proud of his work on the car, and I'm excited to start exhibiting it at car shows. These guys are just fantastic. They took what could have been a really bad situation and made it into a reason I'll always be going back to Dan and his crew. Long story short, brought my car in to troubleshoot some vibration in my Honda Civic and decided on fixing a bad bearing that was creating some noise. Dan was extremely friends, easy to work with and pretty fast getting it repaired. Unfortunately, crap happens, and the brand new bearing failed as soon as I drove it off the lot. Brought it back to the shop and I know Dan put in a lot of extra hours to get my pain in the butt car back on the road again. He even took me back to my home in his personal car when I dropped it off the second time. The next day when I picked the car up he had also replace the windshield wipers for me and de-fogged the headlamps as a "sorry for the trouble". Again, despite a crappy situation where the repair failed, Dan took full ownership of the problem and fixed it without a single hesitation.
