The name was nostalgic... representing our childhood in Flushing. We decided to venture out to the current relocated store in forest park on queens blvd to see if it has stood the test of time. Sadly we didn't feel it nor taste it. They say sometimes you can't go home again.

I stopped by Gloria Pizza because I was in a bit of a rush before a movie next door (thanks to those 25-minute previews). It was the perfect spot to grab a couple of quick slices. They just heat it up for you, and you can either take it to go or eat in which is super convenient either way. The pizza itself was decent. Nothing mind-blowing, but definitely did the trick. I'm not the only one who thinks so either the place had a steady stream of people coming and going, which tells you it's a go-to for a quick bite. Great for when you're on a tight schedule or just need something fast and reliable. Overall, it's not gourmet, but it's solid, fast, and hits the spot when you need it.

Just outside the movie theater, this pizzeria has that true neighborhood sense, welcoming yet modern. You can grab a quick slice for $5, kick back in front of the TV, and hop on the subway home. Convenient, honestly. I went with a classic cheese slice and a few garlic knots. They were decent; nothing too special, nothing bad either. The slice was thin and crispy, a little oily, but without that rich cheese flavor that could have pushed it over the top. Service was friendly, and my pizza came out in about five minutes. The pepperoni and cheese garlic knots taste how a slider made with pepperoni would be like. Good but of $3 for two, it is a little underwhelming.

This is a substantial part of what you see inside the glass case upon walking in.

I had been to Gloria Pizza before. I was using the main MTA subway station in Forest Hills and would be walking over to Austin Street and Forest Hills Gardens. It was slightly after lunch and I needed some sustenance. I saw Gloria Pizza and was studying how to best cross hectic Queens Boulevard to get there. Maybe I like this business's name because, when I hear it, the lyrics "Will you meet him on the Main Line ... or will you catch him on the rebound?" and "Will you marry for the money ... take a lover in afternoon?" go through my head. That name alone may have more built-in goodwill than they could have imagined when they opened the place. The restaurant interior is clean and bright. Most of what they have ready is in the glass cases. I saw the various pizzas and asked if they could add mushrooms to a slice. They could. Soft drinks are of the canned or bottled variety. The pizza was fine, but the mushrooms had a decidedly "added on" look and taste. The thin New York crust was to my liking. Since it didn't appear they had pizza with mushrooms already made and displayed for slices, maybe they can add one to their regular rotation. But then, what they display probably comes down to their knowing what sells. If I had to go with one ingredient on a pizza in addition to the cheese, it would be mushrooms ... by a mile. Another part of this exchange made things more interesting. I saw these round, golden, deep fried items and asked, "How much are those arancini?" I got a "huh" sort of response. The person behind the cases then added, 'Oh, the rice balls, they're (insert amount I didn't want to pay and have forgotten).' Gloria's goes back to the baby boom years and, like so many Italian eateries and bakeries, it might be (a little) less Italian. If you have a presumably Southern Italian eatery and have deep fried rice balls stuffed with other ingredients, you should know what arancini are. I finished my slice of pizza and walked out into Forest Hills with my beverage in hand. I had lunch and quelled my hunger. The price for the slice was a Forest Hills price, hence not $3.99, but the soft drink was priced like it would be anywhere else. The service was a little indifferent. I believe it was somewhat like that the first time I visited Gloria Pizza. Its main drawing card may be a great location on Queens Boulevard near the MTA station entrances. It doesn't take much energy to go to Gloria Pizza. Local folks are eating in this pizzeria. This is probably a decent option if you're a local, working nearby and needing something quick to eat, or just passing through the area like I was.

My Dad and I had a great lunch - since it was cold and rainy we started with soup. I was shocked with the extra large serving! I was picturing a small bowl! This was enough for a meal! (Even though we also ordered a sub lol) He had minestrone and I ordered chicken noodle Delicious! Then they brought over the eggplant parm sub. Even though it's called Gloria pizza, it's more like a regular Italian restaurant. The waitress brought everything over to us- and we got the best table- window seat with view There's cool decor with black and white photos Such big servings, so there was leftovers. The place is popular, but there's plenty of tables with fast and friendly service. A true local spot. Reminds me of when Norm goes to Cheers bar- where everybody knows your name!

4$. For a mini slice.. smh.. come on stop blaming inflation when other pizza shops the slices are bigger

This was one of the best new pizzerias in NYC, opening to great accolades from various publications. Being a poor kid in Junior High School working for a mere $3.75/hr across the street at the corner Baskin Robins (RIP) did not give me the opportunity for quite some time. Anyway, fast forward 5 years and I finally had the chance with a few friends to experience what many called the best pizza in Queens, and I was very impressed. This became my regular "fancy" pizza shop of choice. What I loved most about it was the crispy and charred thin crust. It adds so much to the overall taste and enjoyment. The sauce was deliciously tangy and the fresh mozzarella made it a level above everything else in the neighborhood. One word of warning, the pizza could get a little soggy in the center if too many toppings are ordered. I usually choose none or no more than two. Also noteworthy is their yummy calzones. My personal favorite combination is sausage and spinach. Mixed with all that oozing ricotta and dipped in some tomato sauce, that is one great bite. Lastly, I like most of their salads too. Their food has been a staple in my diet for most of my adult life. Decades go by, and out of nowhere, I hear the news that Nick's had burned down. What a loss for our community! What a loss personally! Thankfully, they are back and feeling every bit like the original. Food is as good as before, while the decor and service has always been on point. Though not my favorite pizza in NYC, or even Queens, it does hold a spot in my rotation.

Been going to Nicks for years, before and after their renovation. The must get here are the large pies with any favorite topping. As the toppings are all fresh high quality ingredients. We love the sausage, meatball, mushroom, and spinach pie. Crisp chewy crust with a nice char. It's great that it isn't soggy with the spinach as other places have failed at. You can't go wrong with the pies here they are wonderful and deliscious. End the meal with a cannoli as the pistachio and filling make for a nice cannoli with a shell that reminds us of a ice cream cone. Nicks a place i'll go to again and again with wonderful folks working there.

I didn't see prices for slices (but maybe native NY'ers know you can order by the slice I saw a lot of people with slices only) so we ordered a whole "pie". They were very nice about letting us order something off menu (pepperoni and mushroom) and half sautéed veggies. You order at the counter and then wait for the pizza to be brought to you. It's a chill place with a couple of tables. The pizza was piping hot and I didn't even know I burned the roof of my mouth until after I was satiated from the pizza! The cheese pull on the pepperoni mushroom was great. The cheese was obviously fresh cuz of the pull without having to load on tons of cheese . It was very well balanced. The red sauce was sweet (is this a NY thing?) but I didn't mind it. If you want a pizza with great cheese pull. Go here! But you have to eat it while it's HOT. The sautéed veggies pizza was surprisingly good. I say surprisingly cuz I am not a veggie fan in general but it was good enough for me to enjoy eating the entire slice! Great pizza! Next time I want to try the grandma slice to see what the difference is from a regular slice.

For appetizers, we ordered the fried calamari and the baked clams. I absolutely love their baked clams -- I don't eat them from anywhere else. What I appreciate most is that their clams don't have that strong "ocean" taste; they're seasoned perfectly. Their sangria is also the BEST. I had the white sangria, which was delicious, and my husband and dad ordered the red, which they really enjoyed. For the main entrées, I had the shrimp scampi, my husband had the penne alla vodka, and my dad ordered spaghetti with garlic and oil with a side of broccoli. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The vodka sauce was creamy and tasted homemade. My daughter ordered a personal pan pepperoni pizza and loved it. The service was excellent--our server was really polite, knowledgeable about the menu, and checked on us often. I also love the atmosphere: when you walk in, it feels like a classic pizzeria, but once you head to the back, it transforms into a cozy fine-dining space. The lighting is perfect, and the music is just the right volume. The last time I visited was over four years ago, and I'm happy to say the food and drinks still taste just as good as I remembered. Overall, it was an amazing experience for my dad's birthday, and we'll definitely be back again.
