A good slice of pizza is not easy to find when you're deep in queens, but Sal's is great when you're not willing to trek to Williamsburg for a slice of Roberta's. I ordered over the phone and got my pizza right when I arrived. The regular cheese pie is standard price and fresh out of the oven. One bite will reassure you that not all local pizzerias drench their pizza in salt and grease. The pizza was not too salty, greasy, or doughy. The crust, surprisingly, had a slight sweetness that worked well with the pizza. Overall, I got my pizza fix without crashing on the couch in the next hour. Pepperoni Slices were fresh with lots of cheese. Enough seating in rear of store, radio playing at a nice volume ( Q104 ). Nice and clean, was attended to upon entering the establishment. Each table has their own napkin dispenser ( a good thing ) Bottle soda ( original flavors ) available for purchase. I have been coming To to place for a little while now, and never disappoints. The only pizza place for our little family. Sal's has been a staple for my husband and I since we were little 12/13 year olds dating in 2008. They have hands down the best employees and owners and obviously the best pizza in all of Woodhaven and Ozone Park. They will always be home to us and will always have a slice of our hearts! P.S. the only place around that now offers GLUTEN FREE pizza that doesn't taste like cardboard (my husband was diagnosed with a gluten allergy so we were beyond excited when we saw it on their menu). read more

Best pizza/service in the neighborhood. The spot up the block, Taste of Italy right next to Chase Bank, has nothing on these guys. At Sal's they know how to talk to people and treat them with respect. This place used to be amazing. Nothing fancy. Just good food and friendly staff. Unfortunately, the owner, Dominick, passed away, and although the food hasn't lost quality the service has. Delivery time has drastically gone up and the food usually arrives late. Like a half-hour late. I ordered recently and they said 45 minutes (used to be 30) and then it arrived 30 minutes after that 45. It's really sad and really disappointing. I hope they figure things out soon. And for the meantime I'll be ordering elsewhere. Sorry, Sal's. read more

What's there to say about Sal's that hasn't already been said here on Yelp. It's your typical local NYC pizza spot where you can get both pies, slices, calzones, beef patties, garlic knots. It's definitely got a family own business feel to the place. I've gotten a variety of things from there, a buffalo chicken slice, some pepperoni rolls, some spinach rolls, a regular slice, a Sicilian slice. All pretty good and decently priced. read more

Let me start off by saying the pizza taste is amazing. I've been buying for 15+ years from this location and never once had to create a negative review. The old women who delivers the pizza constantly complains about a $2 tip saying that driving 10 blocks away from the location is too far for a cheap tip. Once again she complained about the tip but this time said many negative things about the tip when in reality tipping is an optional feature. Very disrespectful the last time she delivered food to my home and unappreciative. I would love to keep ordering from this location but the old lady was very disrespectful and I don't want her approaching my home this way in a disrespectful tone. read more

Got a slice of mushroom pizza and 5 garlic knots. This place has been opened for a long time, since I was a child. It's just as good and the prices reasonable. $2.25 for the pizza and $1.50/5 garlic knots. * Mushroom pizza was loaded with mushrooms and it was very cheesy. Good amount of sauce and the crust was very crispy. * Garlic knots were very tasty, they use fresh garlic and is best when consumed warm/hot Staffs were friendly and quick, they'll ask if you want other seasonings before boxing your takeout. I moved to Atlanta in 2011, So let's just say this time around I had to go to Sal's and get me a couple of slices and of course some garlic knots but I forgot to grab me a Snapple. Before I leave again, I am definitely going back to Sal's. I recommend if you come to Jamaica, Queens you definitely must go to Sal's. Number of visits: I don't know. I'm not a regular, but when I think about Sal's Pizzeria, the following words come to mind: old-school, authentic, quality, Woodhaven. It's just intimidating for me - someone with low self-esteem (wahhh) - to show my friggen face there. I ought to do it more. During my most recent visit, I had every intention to write a Yelp review because I had been putting it off for so long. I decided to treat myself: a slice with Italian sausages, a slice with pepperoni, $2 worth of garlic knots, and a can of DIET coke. I'm a binge-eater so don't judge. Their garlic knots are one of the best garlic knots I have ever tried... but the more I come (that's what she said), the more it's becoming hit or... less than a hit. Not completely a miss. Well, maybe, occasionally. Occasionally, they could sit in the oven longer than they have to and they would become dry and hard (...), instead of being moist, crunchy, oily, and garlicky. When it's done right, it's the best. I would order $5 worth of them and forget about the pizza. But in my most recent visit, I would rate the garlic knots 3 / 5. Usually, they would be 5 / 5. I can't remember the last time I ate their pizza, but I thought that they were going to be one of the best I ever had. The pizza, surprisingly, was underwhelming. Underwhelming as in I had high expectations. They were chewy. Still good though. 3.5 / 5 this time. Next time, it might be different. I will eat again. The employees seem cool and old-school; veterans in what they do. They seem indubitably respectable. They run a pizzeria that's been around, perhaps, since before I was born. Four out of five stars. It's still the best! My family moved from NY when I was only 11, but I never forgot about this place and when I was doing a "memory lane" I had to stop here. After many, many years it still tastes exactly the same as it did back in the day... perfection. My husband was also an instant fan, and we even visited twice in two days. The pizza is great however I wish the owner would require his employees follow hygiene. During a pandemic you have one of the cook's not wearing gloves. The heavy set man who makes the pizza on two occasions had to be called out for him NOT wearing gloves. He was actively pounding pizza dough, and touches boxes as well as other surfaces. The older gentlemen who is the owner excused him by saying "oh I'm the one who handles money". As I told him, still this man is touching things and handling food. I called in my order and he was the one who took it. Please remind the owner to MAKE ALL his employees follow proper hygiene when handling food. read more

Solid pizza served in an old school pizza parlor from a bygone era. If you want to eat pizza the way it used to be made back in the day, this is the place to go to try it. Pizza is okay, service is okay. Queens can't make pizza like Brooklyn can so there's not much I can say about this place. Has ample seating in the back and is cash only. A bit dingy but it appeared relatively clean. Not a place I'd advertise for great pizza. Also had garlic knots. They were a bit burnt on the bottom. I should have guessed that would happen because another customer told them not to leave their knots in the oven too long. Flavor of the knots were better than my pizza, minus the burnt parts. The only really good thing about this place was the price, although pizza prices have been going up in general, their prices are pretty reasonable. read more

I ordered a large margherita pizza and it was absolutely delicious, it has fresh basil and fresh mozzarella cheese on it and the sauce that they used is simply delicious, it's the marinara sauce that makes their pizza delicious (don't ever change your sauce) I want to try other dishes too, I also ordered 2 Pepsi, a Stewart's Root Beer, a 2 Stewart's Orange n' Cream and 1 Stewart's Black Cherry soda. And, of course, I needed extra sauce, which was gladly provided and seemed to have a tiny kick to it. I wish Yelp offered half stars, because I truly would have given this review 4.5 stars. Since it doesn't, and hubby, the pizza king, declared it a 5-star pizza, I upped my grading. The pizza really is good with a thin and crispy crust.
