Came in for a simple slice and was met with derogatory comments and offensive "jokes" thrown my way, just straight disrespect. I was literally just standing there waiting for my food, minding my own business. This wasn't a one-time thing. This has happened repeatedly. It's been long overdue since I've come around here and even longer for a review. When I used to live around the South Ozone Park area, I regularly came here around 2009 - 2019. Last time I came around was around 2021 to get a short bite to eat after getting a booster shot during the C-19 era. I've recently thought of this place again and figured to stop by here after some time. The place looks narrow outside but it's very roomy with plenty of seating in the area. The guys behind the counter are cool and very attentive. Solid service just as it was when I first came around many years ago. I got a Chicken Pesto slice, a chicken roll and root beer which came up to $18. Prices have certainly gone up since then but that's the new normal these days. Unexpected cost aside, Pizza hasn't changed in quality and taste at all. Sofia's has always had very solid variations with their Pizza and the roll was cooked very well with the dough not so chewy. It was worth a revisit coming down here and I'll come back around pretty soon. read more

We were staying at one of the airport hotels by JFK and so we tried this place since their takeout menu was available. The guy on the phone was very nice. I asked if they had a minimum and he explained they would deliver as long as it wasn't just one slice of pizza. We ended up ordering the Sofia salad? it was fine but I didn't realize it was iceberg lettuce, perhaps I missed something on the description? If so that's on me. Mozzarella sticks and 2 slices of pizza. The pizza was the best!!!! And the slices were huge! Mozzarella sticks were fine. I used to go to Sofia's many years ago when I lived in ozone park but now that I'm in Howard Beach I haven't been . Let me tell you I've been missing out they have one of the most spectacular spreads of pizza and rolls and garlic knots I've ever seen . Literally something for everyone . I was at Home Depot across the way so wanted to come back and sit with my daughter and have some pasta . They take great care of you here . They told us to sit while they make the food and served us hot bread with garlic oil dip and some napkins and some condiments. They checked on us throughout it's like a restaurant experience but in a pizzeria . I had the ziti bolognese and my daughter had the penne ala vodka with fried chicken on top . It was so good and so much food we had to wrap the rest to go . The prices and the food can't be beat and combine that with great customer service you have the total package . Oh I almost forgot I took a chicken vodka roll to go for my house mate she loved it even ate it cold ! Will be back for sure I recommend you do the same . The slices were a good size, tasty, thankfully not too greasy like some other places do, packed with fresh ingredients. The price of each slice was comparable to other pizzerias we've bought from. I love this place! I have only found one place in Southern California that makes a good spinach pie and it's nowhere close to Sofia's. I ordered a slice that they warmed up in their pizza oven. Delish! The crust was crispy and they had a lot of spinach piled on. Unfortunately I don't live in New York but visit often so I'm already craving another slice! I have been a long time customer at Sofias and I experienced something this evening that left a bad taste. After spending $60 on dinner I was not able to add a tip to my order for financial reasons. However when I received my order I noticed that my information and tip areas were both circled and they put a zero with an X on my receipt. This feels disrespectful and as if I was targeted for not tipping. This is a dinner for 2 people and $60 was already a lot for us. I felt bad about not tipping but that's just how it is right now. I'm not asking for anything but I just want to know if this is standard procedure to circle the tip section of a customers receipt. If it is, it does t leave a good impression. I tend to be hyper-critical when it comes to pizza and Italian food, which stems from where I grew up and my ethnicity. One of my colleagues who is more familiar with Italian food in Queens than I am spoke highly of Sofia's, which prompted me to bookmark it here on Yelp and place it on my radar. I was in Queens recently for work, and one of our partners provided an educational lunch for us catered from Sofia's. What a wonderful coincidence, and I instantly got excited to check out some of Sofia's offerings. I did a little research and discovered that while Sofia's is primarily a pizza spot, they do cater and have a wide variety of Italian dishes (confirmed of course by my the food that was sitting in front of me). We had a large spread: garden salad with mozzarella cheese, broccoli, lemon chicken with capers, salmon, eggplant parmesan, penne vodka, and a big plate of bread. I tried the salad, broccoli, lemon chicken, and penne vodka. The food was good; taking into account that it was delivered, I thought they did a great job with making sure it was packed properly and that the taste/quality would last as it traveled. The penne vodka and chicken were on par with other good Italian spots I've been to, and the broccoli was really a standout. It was prepared with lots of garlic which it exactly how I like it. Overall, I was impressed with Sofia's, and my experience with their food here has prompted me to check them out in person. I'm also curious about their pizza, so a trip is definitely in order. As my list of go-tos in Queens is pretty slim, I'm glad to add this place to my collection. read more

A few friends and I ordered from this place when I was visiting them. I decided to order the Penne Fiorentini, which consists of chicken cutlet, spinach, mushrooms in pink sauce, topped with fresh mozzarella. We also got garlic knots to share. When our food was delivered, it came in a pizza carton. At first we thought the restaurant got our meal wrong, but we quickly found that all our food was neatly packed inside the pizza box. I thought this was a really unique and ingenious way to do delivery. My Penne Fiorentini was chock full of deliciously well seasoned, tender, and slightly crispy chicken cutlet pieces, as well as fresh veggies, and plenty of well balanced, tasty pink sauce. All this worked really well with the melty cheese and perfectly cooked pasta. The garlic knots were extremely garlicy, with actual garlic and butter. They were also delightfully soft on the inside, while still having a satisfying crunchy exterior. I also got to try onion rings, as well as the lasagna with sausage. The onion rings were wonderfully golden crispy and mouthwatering. The lasagna with sausage was yummy as well, with the sausage being juicy and flavorful. The marinara sauce combined with a plethora of cheese and pasta were oh so luscious and good! I am happy I had the opportunity to try this place when I did because normally it wouldn't even be on my radar because it's pretty far out there in Queens. I would definitely like to try the seafood or one of the traditional Italian specialties from this spot next time I visit my friends who live nearby. read more

This pizzeria has been in the community for a long time. They have some amazing unique slices that I really enjoyed eating. The pizza with the garlic knots crust was very enjoyable. My favorite was the squared caprice slice. Also the spinach slice was scrumptious. Aside from pizza they have signature pasta dishes like the money bags. It comes with a creamy vodka sauce and I got it with grilled shrimp. I also tried the chicken cutlet hero. They do get busy during the lunch rush.
