Just had my first UYE (unofficial Yelp event) at Margherita Pizzeria. My small group of 4 ordered the regular pie. I really enjoyed this event and the location on Jamaica Avenue was a convenient meeting place, looking liking a small cafeteria. The service was very friendly and cordial. They bought napkins and plates along with our drinks. When the pizza pie came out; hot and fresh, they delivered it to our table. This is a very small place and we were lucky to find a seat and there's no restrooms. My very first small bite, into the slice of margarita pizza was absolutely delicious, it had a sweet savory taste and looked like Vodka sauce. This is a cash pay system and they do allow you to stand and eat at the counter. I will most definitely be returning. I'm very satisfied with this visit... Inspire more, Yelp more! read more

This is where the locals go to get pizza. It was highly recommended. The location is a small pizza shop with one or two small tables in the back. There is standing counter space to eat your food. They only accept cash. I ordered one pepperoni slice which was $5.25. You order by the slice or pie. They do not have combos. They only take cash. The employees are just there working nothing good or bad to add here. The pizza was delicious with a crunch crust, tasty sauce, and ample cheese. I went at lunch time so it was pretty busy. This place is still a staple in Queens. Cash only! Very old school! Small space. However the pizza tastes great. I won't lie, this is my 2nd fave in Queens but not by far. No, you will not find parking bc it's located on a busy street where TONS of buses run and tons of people shopping from the many stores in the area. No, you will not find anything gourmet on the menu. No, you will not find alcohol on the menu. No, you will not receive high class service to feed your pretentious ego. No, you will not find expensive or over complicated ingredients. No you will not receive table side service, you will stand at the counter and place order like a normal human being. No, you will not experience glitz and glam... and the ambiance is perfect even still. What you will find is straight forward New York pizzeria rich with history serving up NY style pizza with a wildly balanced sauce, an unbelievable cheese pull, and consistency. You will encounter some oil bc the slices are fresh, they aren't reheated from sitting in a plastic case for hours. You may burn your tongue and roof of your mouth, again, the slices are always fresh! I personally welcome the burn... it makes the eating experience exciting. You should expect to pay with cash since they do not accept credit cards (remember, quintessential), and when you walk in you may even get a sense of the history this place has seen. Margherita was desired treat growing up in Queens, and I'm happy to see that it is still a staple in the community. For a long time it was the only place i would want pizza from. There are no seats, so effectively no dine-in save for a standing-room only situation, where one heads to the counter, orders their slices / pies, and leaves. There is a *tiny* counter near the order window that can comfortably fit two people. Pre-COVID, maybe 3. For residents in the area, this place is no secret. It's also not a pizzeria I'd recommend going out of the way for, but it is a pizza spot that deserves a look when nearby. Slices have inflated their way up to $3.50 (#3) and pies are in the $25-30 range now. While they do take credit card, cash is king. Pizza wise, this is a classic NY slice. It's thin and even a tad floppy, but the portion, seasoning in the sauce and cheese are on point. During my recent trip to NYC, I was in the mood for some authentic NY style pizza and Margherita Pizza came up in the results for something relatively close to JFK airport. Here's my take on the experience: Quality of pizza : Good. I got the plain cheese and added some red pepper flakes and garlic powder. The sauce was sweet and the pizza was piping hot. It did not droop or fold when I held it with one hand which is a sign of a good New York style pizza. Décor: none. This is very much a get in, get your slice, and get out kind of a place. There is a narrow aisle where you stand, pay cash (CC not accepted), get your pizza, and leave. Cleanliness: meh. I did not see anybody cleaning anything. Service: meh. Your goal should be to walk in and walk out ASAP. They are here to sell you a slice of pizza and that's about it. Price: cheap for NYC. A slice of plain cheese is $3.50.
