I usually gauge the pizzeria by its plain slice. If they can't make a decent plain slice, then it's not worth a second visit. This was one of the best plain slices I ever gotten in the area. We got here right before it closed. Like in 5 to 6 minutes before it closed because we had just arrived in NYC that night. We brought our luggage in. Most of the food was gone and also looked like it was sitting out all day. The guy was trying to rush us out which is fair but I think it added to the overall experience. One thing that was nice was that the man behind the counter gave us a free slice of margarita pizza. The only thing was it wasn't put in the oven as long as the cheese slice was because the place was about to close. So the cheese on my margarita slice wasn't melted on the top. Or wasn't very good. Dry and cardboardy and cold. Where the cheese slice was absolutely the best and was delicious and the cheese was melted nicely. We ordered their medium cheese pizza special and the pie was HUGE, definitely a great size for a great spice with their special. Classic NY style pizza you can't go wrong with. The ambiance was also very cozy as a late night pizza shop and we stayed there for a couple hours. The employees there are also incredibly kind (let us know it started snowing and told us to stay warm!) and I will definitely be back whenever I'm craving a slice! read more

I am a customer since when this restaurant was named Papa Sal's. I ordered their daily special 2 slices + soda ($5.50) and Thur & Fri special Lagsana ($7.95). The cashier made a mistake which he charged me regular prices. I called the restaurant to find out why it happened. They said that the specials are only for "pick up". First of all, there is none about specials are only for "pick up" on their menu or brochure. Second, I had no problem at all ordering specials, such as a pie with buffalo wings and more, for delivery until now. Third, This restaurant is listed on an app called "Slice" and it also offers specials for delivery. I don't know if they are changing words just to get out of a way but not happy. However, they have refunded me mischarged amount and brought missing soda in the first place. read more

Gino's has some quality slices! Their grandma slice is immaculate. The crust was surprisingly good. The plain slice was cheesy. I wasn't the biggest fan of its sauce but still pretty good! Whenever I take the LIRR I try and get a slice from this place. I live in Woodside and Donato's is my go-to by default, but their Sicilian pies are 90% bread which I don't like. So tonight got a Sicilian Pie from Gino's and WOW! Perfect blend of sauce and cheese (delicious sauce!), and the crust was absolutely perfect and crispy only on the edges.
