Kinda made me feel like I was outside but actually inside with air conditioning. Had the brisket and turkey meal with Mac and Cheese and a side of greens. Everything had so much flavor. I loved every bite. It seems like quite a bit of food for the price. I couldn't finish it all. The meat was perfectly cooked, great rind and juicy. Loved the smoked turkey actually, more than that brisket. Loved the greens! So good. Mac and cheese was average, but I'd definitely eat it again.

We ordered two sets of wings: Buffalo and Dry Rub spicy BBQ. The wings were big in size but honestly, they were overly seasoned. It was too salty, too peppery, and just too bold. I ordered a brisket taco plate which came with two tacos. The brisket was dry and not flavorful. These tacos were dry and definitely needed the green salsa Verde that it came with. This bbq place isn't for me, but I understand there is a cult following for this place.

Right now, on my highly curated list of the 25 best BBQ spots in all of Texas, Cattleack sits at #12--so obviously I had to try it, especially because it's literally down the street from my new place. I knew how that line could get, so I pulled up at 10:05 AM . Basically had BBQ for breakfast. And since I plan on hitting ALL 25 spots on my list, I made sure I tasted a little bit of everything so I could give it a proper review. First test: THE RIBS. I'm from St. Louis. Ribs are always going to be one of my first tests of whether somebody can really throw down on the BBQ pit. I got a whole pound, and they were GREAT. Passed the test. Then came the Toddfather sandwich... WHEWWWW. Brisket, smoked sausage AND pulled pork all on one sandwich. My God. So good. To finish off the meat test, I got one big piece of fatty brisket. Excellent. Exactly what I wanted. Now the sides... The mac & cheese was surprisingly GOOD. And if you know Texas BBQ, you know finding a BBQ spot with mac & cheese that can actually hold its own isn't always easy. The burnt-end baked beans had a great smoky flavor, but there were almost TOO many burnt ends in them . I was like damn, can I get some beans too?! Still good though. And finally, the banana pudding? FIRE. It was like a fancy version because it had a toffee flavor to it. Cattleack absolutely delivered. Love the vibes inside and out. This is officially a Ken's Approved Restaurant and earns the KenStar of Approval. 12 down... the journey through Texas BBQ continues.

This has been on my list for a long time, and I finally got a chance to try it out over the summer…read more I live in Fort Worth and their hours are not convenient for me to get to them, thats why it has taken me so long to try them. I read about the long lines and the lack of parking, but when I visited, it was maybe an hour before they closed, so I was actually able to find parking right outside the front door, and there was no line. There were also plenty of seating inside. When I got there, they were out of certain items, but that was expected since they are in high demand. Since it was just me, I ordered half a pound of brisket and half a pound of ribs along with a side of mac and cheese. To be honest, it did not live up to its hype. The brisket was a little dry, and for how much they charge per pound, I was expecting more meat than fat. The ribs were my favorite, and the mac and cheese was ok too. I got my order to go, and they only gave me a few sandwich bread slices and like 2 small containers of pickles. I think next time IF i go and IF i happen to be in the area i will try to eat inside that way I can get more of the bread/pickles because i love those on my BBQ.

What made it worse was how expensive the meal was for what we received. I don't mind paying good money for good barbecue, but the quality has to match the price. Unfortunately, this time it didn't. I left feeling like I paid premium BBQ prices for a meal that was nowhere near premium quality.

The restaurant had that true Texas feel, with all the old-school western decor and the smell of BBQ in the air that made it feel like we had stepped into the wild west. The staff were super nice and went above and beyond. They gave me some really good cuts of meat, and I even got to watch them slice the brisket. That alone was worth it. We ordered half a pound of brisket, a jalapeno popper, with mac and cheese. The popper was incredible. Creamy filling inside, wrapped in that sweet candied bacon with a smoky, slightly Cajun flavor. The mac and cheese had a nice spicy kick too and was super comforting. But the brisket... WOW. Tender doesn't even explain it. The meat practically fell apart. It was juicy and had that deep BBQ flavor. And those little pieces of fat, those were my favorite. They melted into the meat and made every bite richer and almost buttery. This was the moment Texas BBQ finally made sense to me. That brisket was out of this world.

He mentioned the one next to Dallas Farmers Market, which was a 10 minute walk from my hotel and 2 minute walk from V12 yoga studio. I really appreciated the recommendation as it was the best thing I ate during my latest trip. I headed over to Hurtado after taking a Tuesday evening class at V12 Yoga. I strolled into a pretty busy restaurant around 6:45pm. The staff member at the register said there was a private party at 7:30pm, so it was going to get even busier. I realized the place had more than just bbq. I initially went into the restaurant with my heart set on a 1 meat brisket combo. I found that I was in for a treat, because they also offered Tex-Mex. BBQ AND TEX-MEX?! How does one choose one over the other? I decided to get the best of both worlds and ordered the brisket tostada and chips and guac for good measure. The brisket tostada was fantastic, and it was so reasonably affordable. $6-and change for the crispiest tostada shell loaded with fatty brisket (I made the request for fatty), onions, cilantro, and cheese. It well exceeded my expectations and could put nacho plates to shame. Thoroughly enjoyed the chips and guac. The guac tasted fresh, and the chips had a bit of cayenne for a punch of flavor. Bonus points for their tangy, spicy salsa.

Add to that convenience, they have some really delicious BBQ. As for the BBQ, I have tried quite a bit of their offering over the months and I have zero complaints about anything. If dining in, my go to order tends to be the Texas Trinity which consists brisket, spare ribs, sausage and a side of your choice. This makes for a great meal with perhaps a little leftover to take home for later. If I am getting my food to go, I usually get the El Jefe which includes a 1/3 pound each of brisket, pulled pork, spare ribs, turkey, burnt ends plus sausage. It usually gives me enough to eat for a couple of days. Another great option is The Big Papa Potato which is baked potato stuffed with all the trimming along with some of their brisket. The inside seating consists of table/chair combos along with booths which are spread across a couple of indoor dining areas. There is also bar seating available. Lastly, weather permitting, there is a large patio available for outdoor dinning. The staff is always welcoming and they do a great job of managing the line. Orders are placed at the counter and they provide a number which makes it easy for them deliver your food to you once it's ready. Food can also be ordered at the bar, thus skipping the line. I am really glad to see this location found their footing and seem to be thriving. I was a little concerned as the space they moved into has seen several restaurants come and go over the years. Keep up the great job Hurtado's!!!

We are super glad that we were able to make it out here, the people were so kind and nice to us and even hooked us up with a little gift as they were parting for the evening. The chicken was slightly dry, but understandable for the fact that it was the last order of the day. They totally compensated for it by giving us some sausage so I'm not mad. Sausage was juicy and delicious and had a little kick to it. The Mac and cheese was good but nothing to boast about, it was our least favorite item on the plate. The cheese corn was so phenomenal that we ate every last bite and even licked it clean, we believe it should be illegal! The roll was a normal, I think store bought.
