Great customer service and support. Even when they are busy they politely hand you off to someone that isn't. They even helped me on warranty work. Every time I have called with questions they have been able to answer them or call me back the same day. We walked into Glazer's this afternoon intending to spend over $2,000 on a camera, lenses, and flash. We knew what we wanted and were prepared to buy everything right then, but we had a few questions. The sales person we spoke to was so condescending that we walked out and brought our business elsewhere. We were shocked that we were treated so poorly when it was pretty much a guaranteed sale. Great selection for novice to pro. Great opportunities to learn more about product hands on. That said, they have always been too busy to help me find product much less actually take my money. When purchasing a $1400 lens (which they had to get for me, then the guy left to do something else for some reason) I spent 25 minutes waiting for a person to actually take my damn credit card (nearly left the lens on their counter and walked out). When going in to buy a camera strap and a few other off display rack items, I then waited to pay while 2 guys talked to a single customer and another walked in, said 'I'll be right with you' then proceeded to tell a customer the camera they had been looking at in the display case is 'crap'...YOU SELL IT, don't display it if it's crap! Anyhow, great product selection, the people there do have knowledge of product and many are actually photographers themselves, but they need to work on the customer service. The fact that they are dead center in the heart of Amazon.com's own campus now, they'd better learn quick people will shop your store and buy on Amazon.com. read more

I recently decided to spend a grand on a digital camera and lens so, of course, I went right to Glazers. After waiting about 3 minutes for the two men behind the counter to finish their personal conversation, I explained what I was looking for and humbly added that I was just a 'novice'. When I asked a question about a particular lens, the guy behind the counter actually said 'Look, it's not my job to teach you photography'. I just looked at him, turned and walked out and spent $1400 in another store. WOW. that's all I can say. Complete freaks at this place. Avoid it, unless you're a professional. read more

Glazers is simply the best. I have been shopping here for years, and I can say that service is always top notch. I have purchased Canon, Leica, Gitzo, Pentax, and various insundry camera equipment through Glazers, and I keep coming back, due to their exceptional service. Mark Vercammen is really a go to guy here. Never pressures you, always informative, and actively a photographer himself. He'll give you an honest opinion and assessment, should you have an interest in higher end gear (he's the Leica expert but is adept on advising people on medium and large format, Nikon, and Canon). Dave's the micro 4/3 guy so seek him out if you need that type of kit. Dante is their buyer...great guy, incredibly knowledgeable, and someone, who like Mark, I consider to be a close friend after years of great service. You can count on Kamali, Bruce, Cody, and many others here...it's a great place, that I consider to be my "Cheers"...home away from home and a fantastic diversion from a busy work life... read more

We rented a photo printer here for our wedding and found the staff to be incredibly rude and condescending. First, They neglected to tell us they were closed on Sunday (and instructed us to return in by Sunday) and so we rushed home from our wedding site to return the printer to find it closed. They then refused to explain the bill and acted as if we were in their way. Their product is okay--but they were terrible to work with. read more

I was so happy when I finally found Glazer's a few months back. Until then I'd pretty much given up on finding a decent camera store in Seattle - so far, all I'd found were the chains (that ultimately end up being owned by Ritz if you dig deep enough). Unlike the chains, Glazer's is fully stocked and is staffed by competent sales people. Add to that an excellent rentals department and used selection and what's not to like? Some of the poor reviews on here are confusing - they seem to be too shy to ask for help (I've never had problems getting help - I've always been asked if I needed help within a few minutes of walking in so long as there was an available salesperson - there's a lot of staff but it can get busy!) Others seem to complain about price. I know that I picked up a sony NEX5 for $100 less than anywhere online (apart from the scam sites), and a BlackRapid strap for the same price as B&H. I priced out a Nikkor lens which was set at retail, and 5% cheaper online. So, basically, just like when you're shopping online, shop around - the prices aren't going to be the absolute cheapest for all items at any one place. Just the fact that a local store is competitive or beats online prices is impressive. You're not going to find that anywhere else in Seattle. Add to that a complete selection of everything from beginner to professional grade, and what's not to like? I'd also like to say that the salespeople I've dealt with were excellent. Not at all pushy or annoyed after I walked out having played with some gear and not buying it. Didn't try to upsell me or downsell. As a result, went back in after lunch and made the purchase. All in all, awesome store - I actually prefer it to New York shops like B&H since you get immediate helpful service and the stocking and selection is just as good. Add to that the fact that it's local, and I'm sold! read more

I said in my 5/1/06 review that I would never go back to Glazer's again but had to get some professional film they carry there in what used to be the digital shop. The back of the store has a large refrigerator full of Kodak, Ilford and other positive and negative film in it. On another day I went to the supply store across the street with a question about lens caps. Let me tell you, I was just as shocked as I was the first time I reviewed them only this time, it was the total reverse of the experience I had in 2006. No arrogance, no sailor mouth, just good ole fashion genuine customer service. When I was looking for the lens cap, a 27mm push-on for my Russian made Sputnik Stereo Tri Lens Reflex camera ca1960, the gentleman that helped me measured my lenses and did his very best to locate them in this drawer full of multiple sized caps. Unfortunately, they were out of stock on 27mm caps at the time and he was genuinely disappointed he couldn't help me. The overall feel of Glazer's is now positive vs extremely negative. Oh, you might find one or maybe two of the original people down there who haven't figured out that in these economic times, customer service with a smile is back and here to stay, but if you meet any one of them, simply walk away and ask another staff member to help you. After all, if you are into photography, this place really does have everything you need under two roofs. And now that they have pretty much figured out the customer service part, I will definitely keep returning to Glazer's. read more

I'm absolutely all for paying maybe an additional, what -- eighteen-ish dollars on a multi-hundred dollar item vs. an online retailer to get good service and a hometown shop I can go back to anytime for help and advice. read more

Make sure you do your research on any equipment you buy. The sales people at Glazers think they know everything but they do not know shit. They will over sell features on cameras that do not exist- like 60fps 720p on the Canon 5D. That's wrong guys, its the 7D! When and if you bring it to their attention they get their panties in a bind and get a bad attitude. I spent over 15k in 6 months there and they felt they did not owe any explanation as to my question and concerns. All and all... F*** Glazer's! ALWAYS do your own research because they do not know anything except for how much they get in commission. And the truth is that is all they care about. read more

I was in Seattle for 3 days to shoot a collegiate sporting event and forgot to pack an extra camcorder battery (that's apparently difficult to find.) After two unsuccessful days of searching, someone finally told me about Glazers. One quick conversation with Chad and I was in route to pick up the elusive battery that they not only had in stock, but in variety. Once I arrived I realized that it's a photographer's dream. I bought items I absolutely needed, but wasn't "looking" for at Chas's suggestion. I'm due to return shortly for another shoot and I will definitely visit again! read more

I would urge all photographers to either boycott Glazer's or shop at another store. The staff is arrogant and patronizing. They charge a restocking fee if you return something after two weeks; they are unfriendly and only willing to talk with you if you are a professional or make it clear you will be dropping big bucks. I went in to Glazer's in the middle of a week day to avoid the crowd. I had done my research on line and I knew what I wanted to buy. It was small to medium sized purchase of about $1,000. I know it's not a lot, but I think every customer deserves basic respect and service. There were plenty of sales people on hand and only a few customers but I waited over twenty minutes trying to get a couple of questions answered about the printer and some other things I was going to buy. I finally gave up and decided to just make my purchase but still couldn't get anyone to ring me up. In 10 minutes I was redirected three times to three different sales people. While waiting for the third to get off the phone, a fourth asked me "Do you want something?" with a very put out tone of voice. When I said yes, I wanted to make a purchase, he said "Someone will be with you soon." and turned away. That's when I left. I took the time and trouble to try to support a local business and was willing to pay a higher price, but I don't think I'll ever bother with Glazer's again. read more

Very unsatisfactory experience at this store. I would not choose, or recommend, to buy from them. Somehow they manage to be very condescending about your camera if you are trying to part-ex and they are extremely targetted on getting a sale. To the point that they will abandon one customer for another if they think there is more chance of a sale. Between us, we were looking to spend over $3200 on a camera and lens and they would not even entertain any negotiation regarding a bundle, or coming close to online prices. Super arrogant man said he would give me a "smile" when I asked if he was able to include anything such as a bag. They clearly don't value a potential new customer and I left feeling angry and humiliated. I DEFINITELY DO NOT recommend this store. Go somewhere else if you can. read more

My husband and I recently had a very negative experience at Glazer's. We purchased two packages of Impossible Project instant film (for polaroid cameras) The film was defective and did not develop properly. My husband attempted to return an unopened package of this rather expensive product ($25 for 8 photo pack) and, despite Glazer's admitting that this was not the first complaint they had had (even an employee said he had trouble with this product) they would not agree to refund the cost of the package, instead telling us to contact Impossible directly. While Glazer's does not normally refund for film, the fact that the store had previous knowledge that this product would likely not function properly, yet continues to sell and market it and refuse to return funds is simply not an acceptable business practice. read more

I've visited Glazer's a few times when visiting Seattle. It's a good camera store for photography enthisiasts and professionals. The selection of new and used camera equipment is very good, with most current and many classic brands in stock. Current digital camera systems on display include Canon, Nikon, Olympus/Panasonic Micro Four Thirds, and Fuji X. The staff know their products well and are friendly. I didn't look for film equipment on my most recent visit earlier this month, but in the past I've seen both B&W and color film for a variety of formats stored in a refrigerated customer-accessible cabinet. read more

I'm kind of new to Seattle. Wow, what a great store, I could spend hours in there. As soon as I walked in I knew I was in a professional store. I only needed a cheap tripod and I just had the feeling that if I was not spending big bucks that I may not get the service that, you know.......I was just in there to get a plate but couldn't find a match. I know this was a fluke wait I bet this has happened before. So I ask the guy for the most inexpensive tripod they have then. Do they go on commission? Straight to the point, I was blown off as a chump. What the guy didn't know is I'm a professional also, part of my job was to repair Sachtler tripods. OOPS! I know that to a certain extent I say a very large extent, all I needed was for the camera not to move, and that's a tripods job. I was told that I could use it to take pictures at Christmas time by the tree. I'd really like to give these guys my business but I was blown off and for that, thats a no brainer auto -3 stars. read more

Very helpful and not at all snooty like some photography shops can be (at least not who I dealt with). Also, fairly reasonable rental rates. Finally, what was really cool is that seeing that I had to walk a very long way with my rental equipment plus box of two bottles of wine to a client dinner, they loaned me an umbrella, and made a makeshift handle for my box out of tape. The first time I went, I came in with two cameras, one of which is about sixty years old, and although they couldn't help me directly with that, they gave me many suggestions and resources. They were able to hook me up with some batteries for the other camera, though. Since then, I've gone back a bunch of times to buy film, and they're always very helpful. Awesome place! read more

I'm with Kui S here, at least in part. I went in twice to check out DSLR's. One can read about a body on the net all day long, but nothing compares ot holding it in your hands to see if it'll work for you. The first time I stopped by, there was a Norm McDonald clone behind the Canon counter, probably the prick described by others here. He was fairly condescending and acted as though I was wasting his time (he was outraged that I asked him to put a *battery* in the camera so I could consider my $1500+ potential purchase, but then he wandered elsewhere to associate with someone he deemed worthy, and a girl/lady probably in her early 20's was behind the Canon counter. Laura maybe was her name, not sure as it was a couple of months ago. She was friendly and helpful as I hefted an XSi, 50D, and 5DmkII. I left to digest what I'd experienced and came back a week or two later. The freakishly tall Norm McDonald clone was back behind the counter, and his derision and condescension was in rare form. The whole time I was there, trying to figure the controls on a D700, he glowered at me and leaned over counter, breathing down my proverbial neck, which was both discomforting and distracting. After 5-10 minutes of this I'd had it and just walked out, and Glazer's lost my business. The prices I saw on everything at Glazers were list. It's easy to purchase many of them (eg. D700) from the usual reputable online retailers at significant discounts, and without forking over hundreds of bucks in sales tax. For a local storefront to be even vaguely competitive for my business, they have to offer some value that I don't get online: being courteous, leaving the sneers at home, skipping the irritating intimidation tactics, treating me like a valued customer, leaving me with the feeling that they can be a helpful resource for this major purchase, etc. Had Laura (or whatever her name was) been there instead maybe they'd have some business from me. All I can figure is that at least one of the following is true: o This ur-Norm guy is a Nikon snob who thinks that anyone who uses lenses that cost less than $1800 and weigh less than a 1965 Beetle is crap o ur-Norm is by nature simply a jerk A couple of other notes: o) Panicus-Attacus: check out the Seattle Vegan meetup at vegan.meetup.com/85 o) Be careful parking out front. I got a ticket on my first visit because I didn't realize that the street parking is metered. I have to say, I've given these guys a chance over and over again only to be disappointed in their attitude and service. Time after time, sales people seem to make a quick and prejudice assumption that they know what I'm looking for. On several occasions I go in to look at Canon L series lens and comments like," that's expensive", or do you mean the EF series...clearly pointing and asking for a specific lens. Don't get me wrong, there are a few sales people that are very friendly, however the majority of sales people are on a high horse and have no where near as much knowledge as they think they have. It would be great if they treated people with kindness rather than know it alls.......it sucks. I've bit my lip over the last few years with this treatment, after today, I've had enough, I'll never give my business to them again. read more

Moved here from Chicago about a year ago. Photography is my living and Glazers has done nothing but treat me well. They don't make you feel like an idiot about technical stuff if you ask a question and they are always friendly. I hit hard times and went in to sell a lens or trade it and Dante was exceptional. Instead of trying to make a buck off of me he convinced me not to sell my lens and steered me toward something I could get by with. I was looking for a Canon Rebel T7i or a Canon 80 D. I went on Sunday and Jason was helpful in asking what my needs were and the features of the two cameras in relation to my needs. I needed to decide if I wanted to get my Canon Rebel T5i repaired or buy the T7i. I decided to think it over and come back on Monday. When I returned, I asked for Jason as he told me to do so. He was busy, so I asked to speak to the manager to see if I could get $100 off of the $749 price. Mike, the manager, was rude. He said Glazer's has an agreement with Canon, and they have to charge the price Canon says. I asked if I could get two free lens caps. Mike said no, he couldn't give me anything free. He was rude about that, too. I bought the camera because I didn't think I had time to order it from Amazon before my vacation to Madrid. I hadn't been able to find it in Olympia at Best Buy or Costco. However, when I went to the mall later in Olympia, I saw that Best Buy had gotten the T7i in since I was there last. The price was more, but Best Buy is willing to match other retail stores. I wish I'd purchased it at Best Buy instead because the manager of Glazer's was so rude. read more

I had no prior experience in photography and needed equipment for a one-time event, and they took the time to make recommendations and explain how to use everything. I ordered a Canon 60D from this store. It was my first encounter with Glazer's and it was a good one. I am a novice. I shoot a lot of snapshots but am trying to up my game for a trip to Nepal. Mark Vercammen, the sales person I dealt with, listened to what I wanted to do and made suggestions for me. I told him a wanted a good camera to take very good pictures but not something I simply would never use the features of. I was afraid the complexity would turn it into just another snap shooter for me. I looked over everything in the information I could find about the 60D and called him back to make my purchase, He did not load me up with all sorts of stuff either. I got just what I asked for. I ordered it on a Saturday and it was here at my fingertips on Thursday! I got a good price and great service. I had a slight issue with UPS and they jumped right on it and it was resolved PDQ! AND the issue was not their fault! So, I will be skipping the local options in Vegas and dealing with this Seattle company as I add equipment to my arsenal! read more

I've been going to Glazer's off and on for years. Most of the time to browse equipment, sometimes to buy, even though the prices are higher than online. The reason why I buy there is service, which is better than some of the reviews hint at. As an example, I haven't been there for quite awhile yet when I went into the store and browsed the counters and came to the cameras I wanted to take a look at it was only moments before a friendly young woman asked if I needed help and explained in detail the differences between an older model, more expensive D90 and a less expensive, yet more fully featured D3100. After I finished looking at the cameras I browsed the store for a bit before finding her again to ask some questions about equipment rentals. I expected just some quick chit chat but she went into detail about the entire process, how it works, etc. and also gave me a printout list I could refer to away from the store. Again, in spite of the past reviews they do provide really good service at Glazer's and it is again why I will pay more at a local store than I could save online. read more
