After 30 years of seeing Dr Schwartz I am seeking a new Dr.
I was sent to collections for $45, from my last visit(July).
I had inquired about paying my bill in full each visit, but was told insurance billing caused 2 part billing, copay upfront, and the undetermined until insurance responds balance, later.
I have always reconciled my bill when I paid my copay.
I never complained about the amount, and would gladly pay any late fees(I never looked).
It was never about amount, but timing.
I thought that I had a working solution, because I had offered to pay in full at each appointment, and was told that was not possible.
Appearantly, I was not supposed to have a problem with being sent to collections.
I was not supposed to take it personally, despite having always paid my bill.
Decades of track record meant nothing.
"We have to treat all patients the same." rang hollow.
Yet the (all new since July) front desk staff was free to take my being upset, and complaining, as personally offensive.
I did not curse.
I was spirited and maybe louder than I should have been, but I was not insulting or demeaning.
