The procedure was quick. Follow care not so good. Having many issues seeing out of one eye. After 7 months and many visits back,I was told I have dry eye syndrome. I tried 5 different over the counter drops with no success. I asked for a perscription for eye drops to help. My vision is now double in one eye. I was told I could NOT have a perscription but I could see one of their specialists in DC. Not helpful at all when you really need them. Overall a good experience at the Towson office for my LASIK procedure. Everyone is really nice and explain everything really well. I very happy with my results, from -7.50 prescription to 20/20. My only suggestion and on the day of the surgery I wish I would have taken an anti anxiety pill, I didn't know if I could or not and didn't think to ask because they make it seem as if it's so easy. Once I was in the table, my nerves were in 10 and there was no comforting. They were way behind as my appt was 10:30am and surgery didn't occur until 1:30pm, but maybe offering a squeeze ball since no one is allowed to come in with you I hyperventilated thru the whole procedure. And once the drops wore off at home I was questioning my decision for about 2 hours until I panicked myself into a deep sleep until 10:30pm, then I was fine. The pressure when they trying to do the suction hurts, the numbing drops don't help with that, it feels like someone is trying to push your eyeballs out, which they kinda are. It's fast thankfully but you're gonna feel it. I also didn't know who my doctor was, maybe because I rescheduled. I found out at follow up it was Dr. Robert's, who I had done no research on or even knew was performing at this center. I was scheduled with Dr. Pasternak but can't change it now and Dr. Robert's did well. Otherwise, I'm happy I did it. read more

5/5 totally recommend going here! I've been wearing glasses since I was about 7, and wearing contacts since my sophomore year of high school. So adding it all up, that's over 30 years of needing corrective lenses. I'm 38 and decided that enough is enough, I'm over the whole glasses and contacts game. I wish I could give this place more stars. I was thoroughly impressed with how my appointment went, from the consultation, to the surgery and the follow up appointment. I had lasik done yesterday and it feels weird being able to see clearly without glasses. All the staff from the front desk to the doctors were attentive and friendly. They all did their best to put me at ease every step of the way, Dr Goel most especially during the actual procedure. Their phones are on til late at night for any reschedules, no hassle at all. I've had a really good experience that my husband is thinking of getting a check up himself to see if he's a candidate. In short, these folks know what they're doing in the office and in the high-tech toy room (laser). The benefits far outweigh any fear or hesitation I had. Opening my eyes for the first time without things completely distorted nearly brought me to tears. It's remarkable, really. Long story... Exceptional experience from scheduling the appointment to post-op with LasikPlus. You're guided every step of the way, sufficiently drugged with Tylenol PM to make it thru the procedure then rest your eyes for the day. The eyes are more than sufficiently numbed to feel nothing more than a little pressure during the procedure. The success of this procedure appears to lie largely with the accuracy of their analysis of your candidacy, calibrating your prescription, and the patient's ability to follow directions. After nearly 50 years of wearing glasses and contact lenses, I vowed that the next contact lens induced eye infection was going to be my last, and so it was. I reached out to my friends to find out who performed their lasik surgery, and FOUR people screamed, "Sonny." Within seconds, Sonny's office address and phone number was in my text messages. Clearly, he's gained a cult-like following, because no matter where I've been, from Western MD to Ocean City and Baltimore, Sonny's practice was the only I heard. It should be noted that I compared lasik options with another large lasik provider in Baltimore. The difference was noticeable from the moment the the LasikPlus receptionist answered the phone. She was knowledgeable about the procedure, cost, insurance, and scheduling. She was patient and kind. ONE call gave me every answer I needed. That level of administrative precision was what I experienced throughout the process. Compared that experience to being unable to connect with a representative from the other large lasik provider in Baltimore. I've been wanting to get Lasik for a couple of years now, and I decided that I would finally treat myself to it this year as an early birthday gift! I went into this knowing that my health insurance would not cover a cent of the procedure, so when I researched places to have Lasik done, I was keeping in mind cost, sanitation, and obviously qualified Opthamologists and surgeons. I settled on LasikPlus Vision Center. I called the center during the first week of August and I was able to schedule a consultation for the second to last week of August. When I arrived for my consultation I was instructed to fill out some forms on the computer in the waiting room and watch a Lasik introduction video. After this, I was called back to have my eyes and prescriptions tested. They placed a small string at the bottom of my eyes to test my tear production, I think. The lady that ran those tests was very friendly. Lastly, I called back to do tests similar to the ones done for contacts and glasses, only this would determine the prescription that would be necessary to achieve 20/20 vision with the Lasik procedure. After all of the tests were completed, I sat down with the front desk staff to go over financing. I was quoted $2,352 for the procedure with only two years of insurance included if I needed any revisions made, and $3,548.40 for the procedure with a lifetime insurance for revisions. The prices I was quoted included a 20% military discount. I decided to go home and sleep on it before making any major decisions. I ultimately decided to go with the lifetime cost, as it's seemed to be the most cost-effective choice for me, should I need any revisions in the future. I called the office and scheduled the procedure for that Friday. I was told two have my prescriptions filled, but when I looked in the folder, I didn't have any prescriptions, so I called back and they asked me to come in and pick them up. Thankfully, my husband goes to school in Towson, so it was convenient for him to stop by the office after class to grab my prescriptions for me. I had my prescriptions filled at Walgreens and I paid about $50 for both prescriptions. The LasikPlus Vision Center quoted me $150 for 10 25-packs of the Blink Tears Drops, but I decided to shop around to see if I could find anything cheaper. I ordered 10 25-packs from Amazon for $130, so I saved $20 with a small amount of research. The night before the procedure, I filled my bag with my prescriptions, my photo IDs, my debit card, and the folder that they gave me with quotes and medication instructions. I was nervous but excited to have the procedure done. When we arrived at the office there were about 5 other people there. They checked my eyes again to make sure that nothing had changed with my vision, then I paid for the procedure. I decided against financing, and paid in full. There was some waiting in between, and then I was called back to receive instructions and demonstrations for the antibiotic drops. Everything after this went really fast. I was given numbing drops and my husband was set up outside of the procedure room to watch me getting Lasik on a tv screen. Dr. Goel talked me through the entire procedure, and within ten minutes I was finished. Some people said that they experienced complete darkness in one eye for a second, but I only experienced some blurriness during the procedure. After this I was supposed to be given a Tylenol PM, but they forgot. I sent my husband back in to get the pills so that I could sleep and this did make me nervous because I had to wonder if there was anything else that they had accidentally forgotten to do. I was instructed to keep my eyes closed on the ride home and then sleep for 3-4 hours when I got home. I was also given sunglasses to wear for protection both indoors and outdoors. My eyes began to water incessantly and I wasn't able to sleep very well with the plastic eye covers that they provided, but I did my best to just let my eyes rest. I woke up at around 5pm and took the first doses of my prescription drops. I found it easiest to set alarms for the rest of the drops after that. I slept much easier that night, and felt better when I woke up. The watery eyes continue to persist, but my check-up showed that the flap was in tact and is healing appropriately. I was told that I could remove the sunglasses indoors, decrease the prescription drops to twice a day, and continue using the Blink Tears drops hourly. My vision before the procedure was -2.25 in both eyes and now I have 20/20 vision. I was given a "free t-shirt" and sent on my way! I will return in two weeks for a follow-up, but so far so good! read more

Just over 3 months have passed since I received my LASIK operation with Dr. Sonny Goel and the LasikPlus team. Here's my take on the place and process, in full: LasikPlus- Dr. Goel operates at all three locations (Towson, Columbia, and Annapolis), depending what day of the week it is, and you can book your follow-ups at any of the three locations. I had my operation at Towson and had several follow-ups at the location in Columbia. Between these locations, the care I received from the doctors and staff was uniform and consistent. Consultation & Evaluation- Prior to LASIK, I was a contact lens/glasses wearer for approximately 15 years. At -5.75 (right eye) and -6.50 (left eye), I wasn't completely blind, but close enough. I visited Eye Doctors of Washington, LasikPlus, and TLC Laser Eye Center to get a better idea of how the process would go, what to expect, and of course, how much it would cost. At all 3 places, the staff took measurements of my cornea, checked tear production, and showed a video about how the procedure works. Because the technology they used was the same at all 3 venues, and all 3 doctors seemed equally competent, I ultimately chose LasikPlus because the price tag was about $1,000 less than their competitors. Pre-Op- After scheduling my surgery, I received several follow-up phone calls to confirm my appointment, to provide prescriptions for post-op treatment (2 different eyedrops), and to see if I had any questions. LasikPlus offers operations on every day of the week, including some Saturdays, which I found extremely convenient. Surgery Day!- The day of surgery, the staff re-ran tests to reconfirm my prescription and eye measurements to make sure nothing had changed since the initial consultation. I met with Dr. Goel to discuss the procedure in full detail. He gives you a complete rundown on what to expect from minute 1 to the completion of surgery, places some numbing drops into your eyes, and walks you into the surgery room. During surgery, he: 1) places a plastic ring around your eyeball that prevents you from blinking; 2) creates the "flap"; 3) lifts the flap; 4) uses the laser to reshape your cornea; 5) repositions the flap; and 6) repeats 1-5 on your other eye. The procedure took about 10 minutes total. Obviously while you are getting your eyeballs sliced off, panic signals will course through your head. Dr. Goel understands this and goes out of his way to ensure you are comfortable during the procedure. Post-Surgery Immediately after- The staff popped a pair of sunglasses on me, gave me tape and a pair of protective eye shields to put on my face while sleeping, and sent me home. I got home around 6:00 PM that day, PTFO-ed, and woke up the next morning at 7 AM. Immediately following surgery and into the afternoon the next day, my eyes felt slightly uncomfortable, as if I had put my contacts on backwards. Vision improved as the day went on, and I was able to drive that night with minimal glares/halos. 1st month- After the initial excitement wore off, I found myself with extremely dry eyes. Driving in sunlight was painful without sunglasses, and I found myself constantly feeling "tired" because my eyes wanted to close. At my follow-up, the doctor recommended 3600 mg of fish oil and a daily eye ointment, along with continued use of artificial tears. 1.5 months- My dry eyes hadn't improved at 1.5 months, so the doctor then put me on Restasis, a prescription drug that helps improve natural tear production. I started the Restasis regimen, but just before I hit month 2, I noticed my dry eyes gradually improving. 3 months-present- I rarely use artificial tears now, but continue to take the fish oil, mostly because it's good for you. At my 3 month check-up, I had 20/15 vision in both eyes! Overall- The doctors and staff at LasikPlus have all been very friendly and helpful throughout the process, and if I had to do this all over again, I would not hesitate to do so. One small qualm: prior to my surgery, I received multiple reminder calls. However, I did not receive any similar reminders for my follow ups. Based on my experience, I encourage everyone to get consultations at multiple eye centers, even if you ultimately decide on LasikPlus. This is your time to ask questions, educate yourself, and plan ahead. It's also good to mentally prepare yourself- the surgery and anxiety that may be associated with it extends not just until the day of the procedure, but also into the recovery months. Don't be afraid to ask for discounts or find ways to save: Set aside your FSA. Call your insurance to see if they offer a discount. Check your credit card to see if there are any cash back bonuses- I saved an additional $200 via my card's 5% quarterly bonus for 'health care'. Don't forget to budget for post-operative care (eye drops, antibiotics, etc.)either! Yes, the procedure is expensive, but in the end, it's an investment that pays off. LasikPlus of Towson has completely exceeded my expectations. I'll start off by saying medical things, even regular checkups are an issue for me. I get massive amounts of anxiety and become very nauseous. I was worried about being able to follow through with the procedure but I wanted it bad enough that I decided to tough it out. OMG the staff at each location are absolutely AMAZING!!!! I was greeted and treated like a long distant family member being welcomed home. I had my initial consultation in the Annapolis office and before I could even answer the questions I had prepared before I came in, they were already answered and explained in detail. I had been putting off scheduling it and feared that since I waited until the last minute and set it online that I wouldn't show in their system or that my online forms wouldn't be ready the next morning - but they were totally and completely ready for me! I ended up staying longer than expected only because they completely took their time and reviewed EVERYTHING with me and even answered my questions about what I could expect in the future. The day of surgery was even better. I wasn't nervous at all and even my friend who came with me was made to feel at home. They had told me to expect to be there maybe 2 to 3 hours and we were in and out in less than an hour and a half!! The entire staff from the front door to the procedure room were so genuinely warm and personable. They introduced themselves, asked my name, just a level of service and friendliness that you don't encounter on a regular basis. I was referred to LasikPlus Vision Center, in Towson, MD, specifically Dr. Goel, by a friend who had his LASIK surgery performed at this location a few years ago. He said it was one of the best decisions he had ever made. He gave the center an outstanding review, so I decided to do a little investigation myself. When I arrived home that evening, I immediately Googled LasikPlus and found the website for the Towson, MD location. I read all the material on the website, including the reviews. My friend told me about the CareCredit financing option that he used to pay for the surgery; his was two-years, interest-free. I applied online for the CareCredit financing and was immediately accepted by Synchrony Bank who I have two other accounts with already. I didn't know it at the time, but CareCredit also covers dental and hearing charges, besides vision. I wasn't quite ready to book my free consultation online just yet, I wanted to do some more research. I Googled more reviews, specifically looking for bad reviews, not good ones. They were hard to find, to say the least. With any operation, you take risks, but experienced surgeons minimize those risks with advanced education and continuous training. Then I began to watch YouTube videos of reviews and information related to LasikPlus Centers across the nation. I even found one video that was shot LIVE of the actual procedure being performed. I booked the free consultation and was ecstatic to learn that I was a prime candidate for the surgery. I have been wearing glasses since I was approximately 14 years old, then contacts since the age of 18. I am now 53 and switched back to glasses about a year and a half ago because I got an iPad and was doing extensive reading to the tune of 140 books last year. My contacts were one for distance and one for close-up, so it made it difficult to look between the iPad and the TV without having blurry vision, in addition to having severely dry eyes that I never had before reading so much. If you are a woman who EVER plans on having a baby, do NOT come here. It's common for vision to change during pregnancy. The lifetime treatments do NOT include the $150 outside optometrist appointment you'll have to go to. Nor the additional $75 fee the center charges you after they receive the report they require the outside optometrist to use and send to them. Their customer service is the worst I have ever come across, it's despicable. Lisa Manson, the representative I have been emailing is condescending and sends scripted information. I wish I had chose another place to get my lasik, I gave the wrong people $5k. Also, blink eye drops are terrible, systene is much better. read more
