The atmosphere inside is the newer open floor plan style with high ceilings that make it very loud. It was my first time visiting, and visually it is a very appealing place, although the inside is a bit smaller than I thought it would be. The walls are all glass (hence the name). They do have ample outdoor seating which would be a good option on cooler nights than when I went. I ordered a beer and pursued the menu. They had some interesting dishes although I was hoping for some more choices at dinner time. They have a pretty small choice of small plates and large plates. The large plates looked good but were simply more $$ than I wanted to pay, so I went with a small plate. I ordered the scallop crudo thinking it was seared scallops. That wasn't the case and I probably should have checked with the bartender/server before ordering. The dish was more like marinated raw scallops and some fruit (from the menu on their website - rhubarb, orange supremes, kombucha gel, housen serrano chili tajin). The dish was tasty, just not what I was expecting. Also a very small amount of food for the price ($18). I would go back to Glasshouse Kitchen, but probably not for dinner. I have been MIA from yelp since Covid but this place made me come here as I was mad about the food here. Not mad how the teens say these day the actually mad for old age folks like me. Our server had no manners and practically made us feel like she was doing us a favor. Forgot the coffee and everything we asked for there was a look full of attitude to make us feel like we did something wrong. The names are pretty fancy, food not so much. Mimosa research might need to research more on adding more sparkling wine to it. Sakshuka verde the first time they served the eggs were really hard cooked forget the creamy runny yolk action. Server did take it back and the second time eggs were fine but the dish just had one taste of sourness to it. I did bring leftovers for dinner and upon reheating it turned bitter and was gifted to the trash bin. Pizza and sourdoughnuts were a let down too. Nothing overly different than you would get at blaze for reasonable price and even better flavor. I might hear about this review from some but it's painful to go out these days and spend earned money on food that is overly priced and under flavored. We were greeted immediately and gave the name of the reservation, 4 for an outside table. It was a sunny Saturday TIME. We wanted a table with more shade but because they were tables that could be separated to two tops our table of four was told we couldn't sit at them. Only 3 people were currently sitting outside. This made little sense to me but it is what it is. We sat in a 4 top and were served immediately. We ordered the smoked fish, duck, potato pizza, and shrimp and grits. Hands down the standout was the duck. Crispy skin, succulent meat, and this cream sauce that just brought it all together. The smoked fish was good but did not have the full robust smoke flavor. My dad ate the shrimp and grits and said it was great - he's not the best at sharing. The potato pie was interesting, it was basically like breakfast on pizza. We really wanted an over easy egg but they said they could only do scramble. We are really picky about our scrambled eggs so for us they were over cooked, but it was flavorful and worth the try. The Good: The items we ordered off the small plate menu were phenomenal (Smoked Bone Marrow and Spicy Mussels). The polenta focaccia was to DIE FOR. I gotta learn how to make that now. The Bad: Not "bad," but we were not impressed with the big plate menu items that we ordered (Hanger Steak and Market Fish). The steak did not come out medium rare as we ordered and the market fish dish was very one note. It was delicious the first few bites but got tiring and boring to eat really quickly. We did love components from these dishes, ie: roasted potatoes, arugula salad, curry base. Also, meh on the cheesecake, I can make it better . &Just the Tip: Definitely order from the small plate menu! Their Mocktail (1 in a melon) was also amazing! Be careful of the seeded levain bread, it might break your teeth . Oh, and if you wanna find the bathroom, you're in for an adventure. Tl;dr: Beautiful restaurant, great staff, and thoughtful menu that delivers. We went on a Thursday to celebrate my end-of-week and got a reservation for 8:15pm. When we got there we were seated immediately. The ambiance was clean and new, titular definitely. Our server was VERY kind and welcoming. Just enough conversation and banter to make us comfortable. Since our reso was later, we weren't able to order the bread service which was unfortunate since we ready great reviews on their bread service. It was then we realized that they wouldn't be able to do any of their pizzas because of that, but we weren't planning on ordering pizzas so that was okay. We ordered the whole fried fish (that night they had Bass) and the hanger steak. The fried fish plate was HUGE (see pictures) and took up my entire half of the table. The hanger was a filling amount, but looked lackluster comparatively. The fried fish was seasoned well and fried well. It was crispy but light, and the fish was still tender and delicate. It was served on a chili-lime coconut broth was served as the perfect acid to the fried fish. The charred greens were crisp and flavorful, and was a nice compliment to the rice. If you're expecting a new take on jasmine rice, sorry. It's steamed jasmine rice, fluffy and the perfect medium for the fried fish and veggies. The hanger steak was requested at medium rare and came out perfect. It was cut before it came out, but it still cut like butter at the table. The herb smashed potatoes was the PERFECT compliment to the steak and the carrot purée. The dressed arugula had a nice amount of citrus to help with the richness of the steak. TL;DR: I came for a birthday dinner, the kitchen/waitress forgot my entrees, the kitchen told me they were closed now so they wouldn't make me anything for dinner. When I tried to close out to go eat elsewhere, multiple staff members got an attitude with me and I came tonight for a birthday dinner for my friend. I ordered 3 dishes because I wanted to try several of the seasonal dishes. I ordered a duck confit for a first course and bone marrow with a side of fries for my entree because I haven't been able to find bone marrow lately. I was the first person to order out of 8 people. The duck never came with the first course; after I reminded the waitress, it arrived dry and over cooked. The other duck confit that was ordered at the same time (for the first course) came out with the first course and properly cooked, so it is likely my app was forgotten under the heat lamp. For my entree, the bone marrow and fries never came out. Once everyone began eating, I reminded the waitress I hadn't received either of my items. She went to the kitchen, and upon returning told me they "we forgot the food on the ticket, it was totally my fault. But the kitchen said they are closing and won't make you anything else." So I ended up leaving the dinner early to go find something to eat before everything closed. read more

Absolutely loved my Mothers Day brunch experience at GlassHouse Kitchen. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming with modern decor. Walls are adorned with charming greenery which made everything feel fresh and lively. We chose to sit on the patio which they made extremely comfortable with fans that created a small breeze in the sunshine. We kicked off our brunch with the charcuterie board. Meats, cheeses, and the most delicious fresh baked bread. All accompaniments were perfectly paired. Highly recommend. For our meal we indulged in the Margarita Pizza and Brunch Burger. The pizza had a thin and crispy crust that tasted amazing. I could have just eaten the crust and been happy. The burger with bacon, egg, and melted cheese was perfection. I will talk specifically for lunch even though the dinner menu has some of the same options: Nice ambiance with a great location for serving workers in the triangle during. However parking can be an issue at peak lunch hour unless you prefer to valet. Menu features fresh ingredients and although they openly reserve the option to change the menu based on seasonal shift I have not noticed any change to the lunch menu. Pizza and sandwiches may sound boring but I assure you it's a step up from many other places in the area. Overall I recommend and will return. I'm keeping an eye on brunch! read more

Although it certainly wasn't a flawless experience we would definitely be back. First off it is not at all easy to figure out which lab building houses the restaurant. I am including a picture of the building itself so you might be able to find it with more ease than my wife and myself. Once you get inside the restaurant itself is, as many have mentioned, stunning. It's got really high ceilings and two story tall floor to ceiling windows to give a really great airy feeling to the space. Reminded us of lots of restaurants in Scandinavia and Iceland we've visited which was a really neat thing. As to the service -- in a word sort of lackadaisical: took a bit for our server to show up, she only showed up once during our meal and took a bizarrely long time to process our payment. All in all no real issues though. My bigger gripe was that we ordered five small plates and they all came out within 3-4 minutes of each other (four of them all at once). I understand that it's not necessarily a small plates restaurant but our tiny two-top could barely fit the food (which meant that, for example, it was really hard for me to get to our duck confit and equally difficult for my wife to get to the charcuterie. Further irritating was the fact that no one wiped the table between our meal and dessert. Again not a huge thing but if you're at a restaurant with that price point it would be nice. As to the food: 1. Brussels sprouts with toum: not a massive serving though very tasty. I really liked the toum (a middle eastern garlic purée) but it was too strong for my wife; 2. Burrata with beets: bland. Screamed for seasoning and the beets were in such small chunks that they were hard to commandeer; 3. Mussels in a tomato sauce: good but nothing spectacular, maybe worth ordering again; 4. Duck Confit: fantastic -- perfectly seasoned and cooked. Crème fraiche and radish salad accompanying was tasty but superfluous; 5. Charcuterie plate: as mentioned in other reviews kind of lacking on the meat and cheese front. We basically got a small portion of greasy bresaola, a good portion of a delicious pate de campagne, two small slices of too-cold Brie and some chunks of a fine smoked cheddar along with lots of accoutrements. Would definitely pass on at that price points and frankly one of the more lackluster charcuterie plates I've ever had; 6. Meyer lemon crème brûlée -- didn't try it but my wife said it was excellent And 7. Pistachio gelato with a ruby chocolate coating -- really good gelato with a fun almost Magic Shell experience. Overall I would definitely return as the pizzas looked really good and there are definitely things on the menu that sounded delicious. Also the space is so pleasant it definitely compensates for some minor issues. All that said steer clear of that charcuterie plate. read more

I think this restaurant needs to find a niche and stick to it, but do it well. The menu is always changed every time I go back and never replaced with anything really good. I dined in at the bar tonight, just me. I waited entirely too long because I was acknowledged by the bartender and I actually had to raise my hand to get his attention so I could order a glass of wine. DESPITE the slow start. His service following, was exceptional. The wine list was the perfect amount of options by the glass without being too overwhelming long. I started with the locals greens salad, which was divine, but too salty. The lemon ricotta positively popped and the winter fruit was well balanced with the greens. I followed this up with the chicken which was the perfect portion and on a bed of polenta and delicious mushrooms. No complaints on the chicken dish except the garnish. I'm big on garish. If you're going to use it, it should check 3 boxes: compliment the flavor the dish, be fresh, and stand on its own. The garnish on my chicken looked like a few thin pieces of grass that had baked in the sun too long, I honestly don't even know what it was! Nothing on the dessert menu grabbed my attention so I just had espresso. This was good, but next time I would ask to sweeten it. Overall, I was impressed, but they could tighten up just a few things. This is a swanky restaurant, an exceptional menu, but I gave it 4/5 star due to room for improvement with their execution. Will I come back? Yes! read more

I've been wanting to check out Glasshouse Kitchen since they opened a few months ago. The restaurant is the first building to the right if you're turning into the area from Cornwallis rd. They have some parking available in front of the restaurant. I got there at noon and it was all full so I drove around to the parking lot behind the building (building 9 I think) to the left of the restaurant, which is a bit of a walk. I was able to cut through that building for a shortcut (not exactly sure if that's allowed or not since you need badge access or for security to open the door lol). I had seen a previous review that the fries were oily, soggy and not great so I was a little worried. Well Glasshouse must have read that review too because their fries were great! The server described them as being similar to McDonald's fries. I don't know anyone who doesn't like McDonald's fries so I knew it would be good. They were perfectly crispy and not soggy at all. The burger was delicious! I can't wait to come back and try their dinner menu! I also got a drink, the ahumado and it was nice and refreshing. read more

Went to Glasshouse kitchen for a late lunch, excited to give it a try as there aren't many food options in that immediate area. Was definitely impressed with the building itself - airy, open and well designed. Then came the food - such a disappointment. I had the smash burger and fries. The burger was ok - nothing special, and the fries were cold and stale. Admittedly I was having a late lunch, but a place like this I would expect fresh fries. At first I was going to ask my server to see about getting a fresh order, but he never came around. Time was getting tight, and at this point I had finished my burger and needed to get back to work. He finally came back as I was putting on my jacket with the bill. I noticed that on top of my $18 burger and cold fries there was a kitchen gratuity!?! What's that?? I was now in a hurry to get back to work, so I didn't have time to even ask what that was about, but I definitely would not have given a special gratuity for a meal that no special care was given to make. My mother and I had dinner reservations here for her birthday on a Thursday night. The ambience off the bat is absolutely stunning. Everything so pleasing to look at. However the service dulled it all. Rather than being seated at one of the 15 empty tables, we got seated at the bar. We could barely get into the seats with how packed they squeezed everyone into the bar area. And no purse hooks so I had to practically sit on my purse. We also did not get spoken to for at least 5 minutes after being seated. Once we were finally served, everything was great. Ordered a mocktail which was basically glorified pineapple juice with a flower for $9. The buratta was expensive and small, but very good. I got the smoked turkey sandwich with fries for my main. It had bacon which I did not order and it was missing the tomato. Bread was hard to eat so I only ended up eating half and picked off the bacon. Server never asked how our food was, just the drinks. At the end, our bill was not brought and we were just charged with credit card. So I'm not actually sure if I paid extra for the bacon I did not order or want. We dined in their opening day and it is a beautiful restaurant located amidst a campus in RTP. The decor is modern and clean and sleek. We were there 4:30-6 and at this time there is a smaller menu with bar bites and drink offerings. Currently, the lunch menu is served 11-3 and then the smaller menu from 3-6. My friends had the margherita pizza and loved it. I had the salad and it was fresh and cheesy at the same time. The charcuterie board has a nice assortment of pickled vegetables, prosciutto and cheeses. The owners came out to introduce themselves and also own Wye Kitchen at Boylin Heights.
