We had Sunday brunch at Glasshouse Kitchen and enjoyed it. This is a relatively-new New American restaurant that opened in August 2022 at the Alexandria Center for AgTech in Research Triangle Park (the actual park, not the metro area). My wife found this place on Yelp and one of our dining companions had it on his list of places to try after seeing it on Instagram. The restaurant itself, inside and out, and the food and drink are Instagrammable. To me, it seems like that's what the owners had in mind when they conceptualized this place. Fortunately, I'm happy to report that this place isn't all just for show -- the food, drink, and service were good. My only gripe is I think it's a bit overpriced, and I'm rarely one to complain about prices when it comes to restaurants. I'm all for spending good money on good food, but here, my wife and I just didn't think it was fully worth it. That said, Glasshouse Kitchen's vibe does make up somewhat for its shortcomings in food and drink value. I give this place 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. The AgTech campus is nice. It's basically an office park. The buildings look modern and high-tech, befitting of RTP. There are research greenhouses nearby and Glasshouse Kitchen matches the theme with interior decor featuring both real and fake plants, floor to ceiling. The moss walls are made of live moss. Over the past few years, my wife and I have noticed a trend of moss walls and suspended or elevated plants used to decorate restaurant dining rooms and bars. Glasshouse Kitchen is the first we've encountered to utilize this style in the Triangle. The dining room and bar have vaulted ceilings with large, floral light fixtures and are surrounded by tall glass planes, hence the name "Glasshouse." The furniture is chic. This place is definitely trendy. Free self-parking is available next to the building. Plenty of spots were available during our 1-3pm visit, but it was a Sunday. On weekdays, they have complimentary valet for lunch. If the adjacent lot is full, you can park for free behind the other big building. Reservations are recommended. During our brunch visit, the menu had eight small plate options (priced at $12-24 each), four pizzas ($18-20 each), six large plates ($14-29 each), and five brunch cocktails ($10-14 each + $32 build-your-own mimosa). The only thing we were underwhelmed with was the Turkish Eggs. It was a little underseasoned and bland. The summer vegetables consisted of cabbage, cauliflower, and zucchini. They would've been better if they had more char on them. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly, however. The Bloody Marys were tasty and refreshing. My wife loved the spice mix, but wished the tomato juice was more concentrated. We both really liked the celery and olive garnish. The Avocado Toast and Pastry Platter were both overpriced. The portions were small. Again, something I don't normally point out, but felt the need to here. The focaccia was good and the avocados were ripe. There was too much ginger, though. The pastries were delicious. My wife liked the apple cake the best while at least two of us liked the kringle the best. We enjoyed the kringle so much that we ordered an extra one separately. It was delectable, but tiny. My wife liked the chewy apple pieces in the middle of the apple cake. The Smoked Fish Dip was flavorful, filled with umami. Again, the focaccia was good. The NC Fried Oysters were probably my favorite thing. The batter was light, crispy, and well-seasoned. The oysters were fresh not fishy, tender, and juicy. The kimchi paired and balanced everything out nicely. The Salumi Pizza was solid. I viewed it as Glasshouse Kitchen's take on a classic pepperoni pizza. The crust could have been thinner, but generally the dough and toppings were high quality. Our server was Shaniyah and she did a good job. A manager came to check on us towards the end of our meal. We could only get appetizers(small plates and pizza) because at 7:45 on a Friday night they were sold out of every Dinner feature, except the fish. This was really surprising because were sat immediately without a reservation, and the restaurant was only half full. The service was great and they did apologized for being out of food. Service was extremely slow, took about 45 min just to get our food. Host was not great either. Told us he would come get us in 5 min and never did. What a 15 min wait for the bar that had lots of open seats and 45 min wait for a table even though there was plenty of those too. Order fried chicken sandwich, which wasn't cooked. So I sent it back and got a side salad as a meal. Ordered a turkey deli sandwich with fries. Fries were chewy. I don't know how you make chewy fries, but they can. Bread was toasted but hurt your mouth when you bit it. Ordered a burger and salad. That came out good. Valet parking was free and very nice to chat with. It was a three course brunch that came with a welcome Mimosa and a cocktail of your choice. Here is everything that I got: First Course: DONUTS made from spelt sourdough on a bed of carrot and citrus. Second Course: I opted for the RAW OYSTERS with mary mignonette. The oysters we fresh and juicy. Third Course: XO FRIED RICE that came with a fried egg, yum yum sauce. I loved the fried rice. Really flavorful and cooked perfectly. I came on a Friday evening for a Birthday celebration. Not sure why Glasshouse asked about the occasion on the reservation request if they didn't intend to make it special. The bread service was okay. The bread itself tasted like it was missing something. The fried oysters were pretty good. For our main entrees, my friend had the steak (supposedly medium well), and I ordered the lamb pizza. The salad with the steak was a pile of arugula, and the steak was flavorful but overcooked. The Lamb pizza (added feta) was okay, but I felt the crust was too dark. The crust was still soft. There wasn't enough lamb on the pizza to be called "Lamb" pizza. When you add Lamb, lovers like me are automatically drawn to it. I do not recommend this pizza if you're a lamb lover. Not enough meat! The kicker here is that the waiter later told us it's common for the kitchen to cook steaks well -well done when one asks for medium well. Why not share this upfront? Let the customer decide on something else if your kitchen doesn't know how to cook a medium-well steak. This explains the 3.5% Kitchen Appreciation fee - they did not get our food right. The presentation of the pizza and steak was of a subpar chain restaurant. GlassHouse hasn't set itself apart from any other place serving similar food. We went for brunch on a Sunday at 1pm. My fiance recommended this restaurant, after having a nice dinner here. The brunch did not live up to the expectations she set. We kept our meal simple with the curried cauliflower pizza and the shakshuka verde. The curried cauliflower pizza was quite good. we ended up splitting it half and half. The peppers on the pizza were the star, and the cauliflower was more like the accent. The crust was crispy on the bottom and chewy throughout the rest like a good woodfired pizza. The shakshuka verde was inedible, which is why we split the pizza. It was a bowl of unflavored tomatillo sauce. 2 eggs and really nothing else in the way of the ingredients, that we could taste. the bread that came with it didn't add much to the dish. What an amazing/cool setting for this restaurant I pulled in and I thought why the heck are we eating in the corporate environment but that was just the beginning of its amazement. It's in a agricultural research area greenhouses beautiful buildings I noticed that they did have free valet but I chose to park it was a nice walk. The ambiance is outstanding high ceilings obviously a great look with the glass building was there on a business lunch so I didn't partake in the drink menu but I did peruse it it looked fun. Staff was great and it was very busy and they got a seated right away without reservations. The inside was very fun with vegetation, lights, and a cool vibe. The bar looks really nice and seating in the main room is preferred. There is some seating on the side of the restaurant, which are 2 top tables where we were, and it's a little more isolated and not as fun but better for conversation. The only negative is if you wanna go somewhere else after dinner there are no options nearby. Food (5/5): The food had good presentation and attention to detail. We had the mussels appetizer. This appetizer came in a large bowl with plenty for two people and a broth. It had some slight spiciness, which was enjoyable. It also came with two delicious pieces of wonderful bread. Our second appetizer was the burrata that also came with two wonderful, warm, crusty pieces of bread that we enjoyed spreading the burrata on. Our main meal was the fish for two. This was an entire fish that included the head and tail that was deep fried served on a large platter that included rice and salad, and a sort of curry base. The fish was delicious and flaky and paired well with the greens and rice. We really enjoyed this dish and the flavor profile was complex. Dessert was a blood orange crème brûlée that was absolutely perfect, it was delicate yet satisfying on the pallet. Drinks (4/5): the cocktails were creative, and the majority of them were fruity with only one cocktail being bolder, which was a smoky old-fashioned. The smoky old-fashioned was very good and they did a wonderful job presenting it. I wish they had a larger selection of bolder general cocktail yoga, cocktails and not just fruity ones. My second cocktail was a Boulevardier. They served it in an old fashioned glass with ice which is not the proper way to serve this drink. It should be served without ice like a Manhattan. We all agreed we wouldn't be back because the food was not that good. We got bread service, pizza, fried fish for 2, and beef meatballs. The best dish was the beef meatballs. The presentation of the plates were done well though. The pizza was small and could be a pizza for 1 or 2. It was nice and crispy but nothing spectacular. The bread was overcooked and strange tasting. I feel like it should've been complimentary because it was not soft, buttery, or really good. It's smaller than what the pictures show but there is still an openness due to the high ceilings. Tables are close together. Gives me a farm to table vibe as well. We didn't have a reservation but since they just opened for dinner we were able to get a table. If want a later dinner, I highly recommend having a reservation. The service was okay. I took my undergraduate German professor to this restaurant for dinner as part of our celebration for her retirement. My son saw some reviews about this restaurant on Instagram as it recently opened, so we decided to give it a try. I call this a hidden gem because the restaurant is nestled in the back or rather in between or in the middle of a series of laboratories. You cannot see it from the roadside. You have to enter the complex and go towards the back of one of the laboratories in order to find it. Despite it being tucked away from full visibility, there were a lot of people at the restaurant, so it seems to be rather popular. After spending some time there tonight, I can see that its reputation precedes it. The ambience is perfect! Both external and internal aesthetics are spectacular. Upon arrival, we were greeted professionally with a smile and seated right away. There were some interesting entrées on the menu. We could not decide on what we wanted to get so we got several items from the small plates, several items from the large plates, and a couple desserts along with some cocktail drinks. Our hostess Emmy was fabulous! She was professional, friendly, patient, and valued us as customers. When we asked for her opinion on some of the entrées, she happily provided it, and helped us to decide on which items to order. We ordered quite a bit and took our time sampling and going through each dish one by one. We enjoyed every single item that was ordered, including the cocktails. Every dish was cooked to perfection and had a wonderful flavor, great texture, and was very moist. We also enjoyed the desserts. The sorbet was very refreshing and the chocolate gelato was creamy, smooth, and very rich. This restaurant is a bit on the expensive side so you'll definitely have to prepare yourself for the cost. Additionally, there is a 3.50% Kitchen Appreciation Fee that is added to the bill. I was not aware of this fee until after I got home and looked at my receipt in more detail. This fee should have been communicated upfront. There is also a discrepancy with the menu pricing listed on the website and the pricing listed on the menu at the restaurant. This should be resolved right away in order to avoid confusion. Other than those pricing discrepancies that I have mentioned, overall, I give this restaurant 5 stars. With the food and ambience alone, it is absolutely well deserved! read more

Unpleasant texture, messy, hard to eat, and doesn't add anything to the dish. Also, $14 for a salad of that size and type is crazy. The lamb pizza was disappointing. Not sure red sauce is the right choice for that flavor combination. Final note, I tried calling the restaurant about my order a couple of times and no one answered. The voicemail greeting is inaudible even at full volume. When I mentioned it to the staff when I picked up my order, the host said "I'll tell them." Who? This place is GORGEOUS. Went for dinner on a Thursday evening and there was ample parking. Restaurant was a bit busy, so took a few mins before our reserved table was ready. Our server seemed a bit new (had to check about lots of things on the menu) but was the sweetest. Our group ordered one charcuterie board (pate was PHENOMENAL), which provided a nice array of options. Didn't take a pic before we started digging in though. For my main, I ordered the double cut pork chop. It was served with more of a sweet potato smear and braised greens with a pistachio brown butter. The pork chop was delish but took a steak knife and some elbow grease to cut into it. It was nicely crusted but a thick ass cut! Also had a glass of their sparkling Cabernet Franc which was delish. After many recommendations from friends for the beautiful interior of Glasshouse Kitchen, we finally decided to try it out for lunch on my partner and I's anniversary. The interior was breathtaking for a restaurant. We came when the sun was high up so make sure to wear your sunglasses! It was beautiful and created a great ambiance for brunch. As we denoted in our reservation that it was our anniversary, we were graciously greeted with champagne, which is quite a nice touch. Now the sourdough donuts made out of sourdough were quite delicious. I would definitely recommend just to try. However, it is worth noting that it wasn't anything out of this world. The main dishes itself were along the same lines. Hence the four out of five stars. The potatoes were quite under-seasoned with no salt and steak was standard. The burger was quite delicious, but huge and difficult to eat. Again, the food didn't really speak to me as much as the interior does. The service was good! The server was attentive and do what he needed to. He accidentally spilled some water on my phone, which was completely fine with me as it was a small amount, but he took the liberty of delivering a complimentary cheesecake as an apology which I greatly appreciate it. I found the building a little hard to find, just because all the building look the same. Just look for the number five and once you park there is a small placard out front. The dish I keep thinking about the salumi pizza-- house cured meats, red sauce, hot honey. It was pretty delicious! I'd go back just to get that pizza. We tried a bunch of dishes and they were all tasty. My next favorite was probably the shishito peppers, then the chocolate ice cream, followed by mussels, and finally crudo! So much thought went into the decor as well as the use of local ingredients into the dishes prepared. I definitely recommend making a reservation because this place was popular for lunch amongst employees that work in the RTP area of Raleigh. If day drinking is your thing, Glasshouse has a wonderful wine list and cocktail menu. We were greeted and seated promptly and our order was done quickly. If you come here for nothing else, come for the ambience! It if absolutely beautiful! Filled with natural light and thriving plants (that may or may not be fake). Ordered a few drinks to start. The girly pop is full of very different flavors! But the What's Up Doc (mocktail) was amazing. I say try that and ass lq if that's your thing. The fried oyster were tasty and the sauce compliments them well. The lobster pizza was a hit! And they were not shy on the lobster or mushrooms! The steak and eggs were also good. It's a skirt steak and the flavor reminded me of chipotle, take that how you want. I was disappointed in the chicken biscuit. Should be a pimento biscuit with chicken, instead of the other way around. There was barely any chicken, and they were nuggets. The best part was the pickles, which were really good. Overall very pleased with my experience. The hosts were very accommodating and the waitress was attentive. Highly recommend. read more

Wow just wow ... Hiding in a glass house amongst AGRTECH buildings is Glasshouse... The ambiance here is classy yet sleek modern and welcoming ... like a hug from the sun laying in a field of flowers lol Everything here is sleek and sexy yet casual ... The staff here are welcoming and fun and helpful... Wish this place was open for dinner... it would be amazing if it were. Hint hint .. I'm sure others would agree with me :-) So on to the food and let me stop talking about the venue ... My table decided to go with all appz for our meal ... Let's start with the CRUDO ... which is a seared sliced yellowfin tuna pieces served with heirloom tomato, basil, shaved fennel, and tomato juice soaked basil seeds to give that extra texture and flavor bomb in your mouth ... this dish was delicious and refreshing and amazing Next up was the STEAMED MUSSELS cooked in a sherry, smoked tomato broth, with sweet peppers, grilled foccaccia... this dish was amazing and the foccaccia was perfect vessel for dipping into the broth.. The CHARCUTERIE BOARD which consisted of house meats(pate, prosciutto, and another slice of meaty awesomenes), local cheeses, accoutrements, grilled foccaccia to eat it with... the pate was amazing and didnt have that strong pate irony taste that you normally get which was a plus .. also the figgy jam was amazing with everything that was on this board including the mustard so yummmy The BURRATA which is served on a bed of golden beets and regular beets with a hot honey drizzle and grilled foccaccia... the balance between the burrata and sweet beets with a lil heat from the honey drizzle was a perfect refreshing combination .. Had such a great time here with the girls for Saturday brunch that we brought the boys for Sunday brunch!! The service here is great- they had no issues splitting our bill and easily remedied an order mixup. The food is absolutely delicious!! Truly you cannot go wrong with anything you order- I will be back to checkout their dinner menu! read more

I tried to like this restaurant. I went once with a friend, and the second with my partner. I've gotten to try summer/winter burrata, lobster truffle pizza, arancini pasta appetizer, and the pizza. However, I've been unlucky and both my pizzas (on separate occasions) were burned, my drink orders were messed up, and the food was 'just okay'. So, service - meh, food - meh. Only plus was they tried to 'make it better' with free champagne. Can't say I'll be going back. Also, the outside is stunning, it would be GREAT if the inside was just as alive.
