He's FANTASTIC with any age! From 4 years old to 74 years old, he can get anyone up and surfing in one hour. I was able to stand up on my first try and out of about 40 waves (that he helps you catch) I only fell twice! Talk about improvement. It was SO fun, I scheduled another lesson the next day and learned even more. It really is a blessin to get a lesson haha!

I get the impression the teachers really like working there, too. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming, lots of smiles. The kids learn in what I would call a playful way and seem to have lots of fun. I often wait until the classes are over, working on my laptop in the small lobby. I have yet to see a crying child, which In my opinion equals a little miracle. The kids don't get "drilled", disciplined or coerced into learning, as we have seen happen while touring other schools (to the point where it felt like we stepped into some authoritarian institution in Beijing). But I digress: What's important is that our daughter is always happy to go to Yak Academy. She's having fun while learning and is always cheerful when she comes out of the classroom. I personally can't think of anything more to ask from a school. P..S.: The healthy, vegan food options nearby are a bonus if I have time to go for a snack.

I don't own a serger yet, but it's reassuring to know my sewing machine will be in good hands if it ever needs servicing. He can be difficult and temperamental but she's been incredibly kind and patient with him. He loves her and her class and the fact that he keeps going back every Saturday for an 1.5 hrs away from his video games is testament to this place. Everyone I've spoken to there has been super nice and helpful, even if we'd had to reschedule a class at the last minute. I must note that my son did not love his first teacher and class, like I said, he can be difficult, but the director was incredibly patient and considerate and after listening to our feedback, switched him to a different class and teacher, which was much better suited for him and he's been loving it ever since. This is just to say, even if the first class doesn't work, you might give it another chance and try a different one. Highly recommend this place!

My son got to try out a class with Coach Roy (who was wonderful!) to see if it was a good fit for him, and now he takes lessons weekly with Coach Justice (equally fantastic!). The whole staff is warm and friendly, and they accommodate to each child's needs. Coach Justice provides great structure and challenge for my son, while also allowing him the agency to be creative in what he's learning and working on. My son is engaged and focused the whole hour, and is really proud to show us at home the progress he's made each week. This is the most complete and wonderful art studio I've been to. They have pottery making, pottery…read morepainting, glass and fabric art to do. The teachers are very friendly. The owner's dog is also super sweet. I painted a pottery, didn't make it from scratch but picked the unpainted one from the shelf and paint it. They have special colors that can make very pretty texture and requires no skill whatsoever. It's very relaxing and fun. They'll fire it for you in 1-2 weeks, then send a text for pick-up. It's a long drive from me but the pottery I got is really worth it!
