They have special colors that can make very pretty texture and requires no skill whatsoever. It's very relaxing and fun. They'll fire it for you in 1-2 weeks, then send a text for pick-up. I contacted the owners, Terri and Sarah, and they were so incredibly gracious! They invited me over to check out the space. I really like the layout of this art studio because it's divided into different sections/rooms. One room would be where the kids do their sketching, and then another room is where the kids would take their sketching to go paint. The third room is where you can put all the food for your party and they have an awesome patio area that's right next to the food room where parents can also hang out while the kids can sketch and paint for the instructor in the other rooms. There were 19 kids total and it was so nice not to have the parents stand behind their kiddos the entire time to watch them paint because there's no where to go!! All of the parents told me they had NO IDEA this place existed. Because it's on Artesia , which is quite a busy street that people take to get from one place to the next it's really not the kind of place that people stroll around on. SBAD focus on a different topic/theme each day so the children have plenty of time to be creative and really think about what they would like to make. My daughter, aged 7 loved going each day and came home with some stunning pieces of art. The exhibit was called "May Flowers". I am honored I was part of the May Flowers exhibit and will continue to be featured in future gallery exhibits. Gallery of Hermosa has a different rotating exhibit theme every month. It gives artists like myself a chance to create diverse topic of pieces. For example, the next theme for the upcoming exhibit is "Game on". The opening exhibit party will be held on June 7th, 5-8pm! The "Game on" exhibit will be running from June 7th-23rd. I love the peaceful environment Gallery of Hermosa has to offer. The gallery has a clean open space to walk around and look at artwork made by various artists local and nationally. Gallery of Hermosa is located right in the heart of Hermosa Beach. The location is perfect especially if you want to look at the view down the street of Hermosa beach pier and the ocean. There was an excellent array of very different artists, materials and styles represented at a range of price points. I wasnt buying this time but there was no pressure and I could browse to my hearts content. Would recommend to artists and collectors but also anyone looking to just appreciate art.
