Our Girl Scout troop went to Blow a Glass this weekend having no idea what to expect - and we were absolutely delighted by the experience. Wes was wonderful with the girls. He was engaging, entertaining, and genuinely captivating. He shared that his grandmother was a Girl Scout, which motivated him to engage with our organization, and that personal connection made the experience feel even more meaningful. He began with a lesson on glassblowing outside by the kiln (and other hot oven-y stuff). What I appreciated most was how much information he shared in such an amusing and accessible way. He is dynamic and held the attention of both the girls and the leaders. We learned so much about the art of glassblowing and the artisan himself, experiencing the craft in a very personal, first-person way. (He even let some of our girls assist him.) At one point, he transformed a bowl into a cup and then into a vase in less than a minute. It was mesmerizing! We then went into the studio to work on our own creations. What was both scary and exhilarating was that, after going over the safety rules and receiving some instruction, we were largely on our own. Wes didn't stifle creativity or prescribe what our creations should look like. Instead, he encouraged us to work through questions ourselves, which left plenty of room for us to experiment, explore, and simply "play." The activity itself was absolutely wonderful. Wes provided a very generous amount of glass, and I truly felt like we had way, way more than enough material to enjoy the experience without worrying about running out. There was so much to choose from, and the girls had the freedom to make the experience their own. This activity has my highest recommendation. Wes is an exceptional teacher and a creative muse who knows how to educate, inspire, and give people the confidence to create. I will absolutely be coming back with my older Girl Scout troop! This was an amazing experience. You can truly tell that the owner is passionate in what he does. He makes things fun for everyone. You may hesitate when you see the price but, this is a private session for only 2 ppl. It is everything and MUCH more than I could have imagined. A wonderful experience that kept us sweating (fear of trying something new) and laughing all throughout the class (teacher has jokes). Will cherish our product for a very long time. I am excited to pick up my glass art this Sunday which is when all the finished products are picked up after proper cooling. Also, we had lunch at a local non-profit restaurant called Mychal's. Learning how to blow glass has been on my bucket list for as long as I could remember, so I was really touched when my boyfriend told me he was taking me and my best friend for my birthday. He did his research and discovered that the best place to go was all the way in Hawthorne, so we made the trek from Costa Mesa. It was completely worth the drive! Wes made us so comfortable by stressing the importance of safety without scaring us. He was hilarious, knowledgeable, and explained things so clearly. When we signed up, we didn't realize that the pieces need 12 hours to cool. We were given the option to come back and pick them up or they could mail them, but I eagerly declined and asked if they could hang on to them until we schedule another class. Very disappointing experience, not because of the class itself, but because of how the situation was handled. I realized there was a timing error and contacted the studio before the scheduled lesson time by phone and email to request a reschedule. I did not cancel and I did not no-show. Unfortunately, the owner refused any accommodation, credit, or alternative and kept the full payment, despite no service being provided. What's most frustrating is the complete lack of communication -- multiple emails were sent and never acknowledged. A business that offers experience-based services should at least be willing to communicate or work with customers who reach out in advance. If you book here, triple-check your timing and be aware that even reasonable reschedule requests may be denied with no response. I would not recommend based on how this was handled. read more

Wes hosted us for an amazing time for a private birthday party. He was incredibly accommodating, entertaining, and you can really feel how passionate he is about the art and connective process. You can tell he wants to create memorable and sentimental experiences with each person by getting to know them and having the one-on-one glass blowing experience with each person. Super cool experience! My partner and I wanted to try glass blowing and saw this pop up. The staff was super welcoming and funny. Connor walked us through each step, so it felt reassuring despite the hot glass in front of us. The workshop was very engaging and fun! I recommend! There is street parking around, but it's a bit hard to find parking. It's good to arrive a bit sooner to try to find one. Unique and very interesting is how I'd describe Blow A Glass. I was given this experience as a father's day gift and came here with my daughter. We both loved it! It's very hands on. You'll do everything except for a few essential, difficult tasks which are done by the instructor to ensure your piece doesn't break. He is not one of those who only run a business for the money, he genuinely cares and is very passionate. I unfortunately couldn't make it to a field trip for my son and his homeschool so I sent my mom with him. He definitely enjoyed it and couldn't stop talking about the amazing experience he had!
