We had to come to get the kids nails done and had requested designs on their nails. As kids do they had picked out some designs that were a bit complicated. We were told that they cannot get any designs and could only get designs if they got gel nail polish. I did not want them to get gel because the kids are 7 &10 years old & i have been getting my nails done since i was very young and know what can be done with regular nails. I pushed back and got upset. Showed them the design and then they said they would do it after i threatened to not come back. For the record, the designs the kids had settled on were polka dots & hearts. Not something that is complicated. Polka dots came out fine but I was very disappointed with the hearts. My pedicure job was also regular paint and could've been much neater but was fine. I've been to this place a few times and i'm just pretty upset about the customer service aspect , communication aspect, quality of work, & their ability to work around what a client is asking for. Glamour nails has been remodeled recently & is operating under new ownership as of 2022! (Previous reviews are probably invalid now) There is brand new flooring, a gorgeous waiting couch, and luminous new LED lights above each work station. I made an appointment to come in at 5:30pm for a mani & pedi. Upon arrival they were able to start working with me right away. My pedicure turned out fabulous, loved it, better than any place out east. I was most impressed with the dip manicure. There is an organized booklet of dip colors to choose from. I like this structure better than the little ring of colors most shops have, the presentation is sophisticated. Kim Q is very kind and talented. I'm not one to leave places a bad review but when i make a 4 pm appointment I expect them to get me around 4. I am respectful and I understand things go over and they can become busier than expected. I do not normally post about negative experiences but this is one I need to. Decided to give this place a try based on location. Arrived and asked for a gel pedicure. They immediately got me situated. As the guy is getting the tub filled up with water, I told him I wanted just a basic gel pedicure. He put a sheet in front of me with their offerings and told me to pick. I didn't want to pay $60 and just said basic pedicure and he proceeded to push and say I needed to pick one. I didn't want to continue arguing so I just chose one. Feet are soaking, and I had gel on my feet from before. He used the electronic nail file to get the polish off but continued to hit my skin. I kept wincing and he kept saying sorry but proceeded to not be careful. He also continued to attempt to file my toenail shorter when it was already as short as possible, which hurt. Once we got to the massage / scrub part, it was fine at first. Then after about 12 minutes on one leg my skin was getting very red and raw. I actually had to ask him to stop and move on to the next leg because it hurt so bad. He proceeded to ask "you don't like?" Clearly not if I'm saying it hurts. He did the same thing in the next leg. What should have been a 40-45 pedicure was now an hour and 15 minutes without having any polish on my nails yet. Finally, he got the polish and started on that. He couldn't keep the polish off my skin. He was not wearing any gloves, but proceeded to use his bare mail and dig into my skin to the point it hurt very badly to get the pint off. The cherry on top is he put oil on the BOTTOM of my feet before putting my sandals back on. It was extremely slick and hard to walk and had to keep my sandals on. So dangerous. Overall, terrible experience and I will not be returning. read more

I went with the square oval look and love love love it. She trimmed them all perfectly and spent so much time on the dip process. Some of the the pictures and reviews HAVE to be false. There is no way one the technicians would allow a client to leave like that. I know that no one can be perfect, but the polish just slapped on and all over fingers is just not true. I have short nails due to my job, and they have always made them the shape and length I need. If there's ever an issue, I know I can come back and have them help me fix it. This past time when I went I tried something new. I got an acrylic overlay on my nails with regular polish. Normally, I do gel, but last salons have torn my nails apart when they take the gel off. This time, I needed my previous gel polish removed and they did a great job! There wasn't a ton of filing on my nail (which has previously put holes in my nails by prior salons). They were patient and gentle when taking the nails off. One issue I did have is I did leave with some pain around my nails, as the file did hit the skin surrounding my nails a couple of times. The pain is finally subsiding, a couple of days later. However, this happens to me a lot so I'm not sure if this is just something that happens when you get your nails done (I don't do this much!) read more

Kathy did a fantastic job on my nails and checked in with me multiple times to ensure I was happy with how my nails were turning out. As you can see by the pictures my nails weren't cleaned up or filed after the polish was put on. I paid for a manicure with the gel polish you can clearly see around the edges of my nails the dead dry skin was not cut. You can also see from The picture that my polish doesn't even cover my entire nail from top to bottom or side to side. The top coat was put only on the middle of my nail i had to ask the man 3 times to do the sides. I was a regular here for quite a while, but the quality has gone really downhill lately. My last two dip manicures chipped within a week, which is not normal. The pedicures are fine because those are hard to mess up, but they skip steps and cut corners on manicures which cause them to chip. I used to like this place but won't be back. read more

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I am a frequent reader of yelp reviews, but this is the first time I have felt compelled to write a review. The owner, Ricky, did my nails today and was so incredibly rude I left in tears. Not at all what I was looking for in a nail salon. I have lived in New York City and now live in Chicago, so I know what a good (cheap!) gel polish change should be. I came for a gel polish change ($15) and I could tell he was irritated I did not want a more expensive service. He started filing my nails as I was still looking through the colors and when I told him what I wanted (I always get a color with a glitter coat on top) he told me that glitter color wouldn't work and I needed to remember the number I had requested last time. I told him what I was looking for - a light glitter coat on top - and after much (unhelpful) discussion, he told me to go with another glitter color. That's where the real problems began. 1) He brought over another number then what I requested, but when I asked about it, he loudly corrected me and told me I had read the numbers wrong but didn't want to tell me earlier and embarrass me. Because him loudly berating me that I misread the numbers wasn't embarrassing. 2) He only put on one coat of color. Gel polishes need two coats of color. Then he only let my nails set for as long as it took to paint the next hand. The first 3 coats of gel polish (clear and two colors) need to set for 90-120 seconds to make sure they last. The top coat should set for 180 seconds. This gel polish will not last 2-3 weeks. 3) Despite the fact there was only one coat of the pink color, the underneath color looked good, but when he put on the glitter coat, it didn't look at all what I wanted. I stopped him after one nail and said I wasn't sure it was what I wanted, but he assured me it would look different after it set. He hurried through my other hand and did not give me the opportunity to change my mind. 4) When I told him that this was not at all what I wanted, he told me that he could soak off the polish and repaint them and that it would take another 30 minutes and WOULD COST ANOTHER $15!!! So not only did he screw up my nails, he wanted to change me MORE money to fix the problem HE CREATED. No thank you. I will go home and soak off the gels myself. 5) My mom and I then tried to tell him about these problems politely outside, explaining that this was poor customer service and that we were planning to write a poor review on yelp. At this point he then began to YELL at us, stating that he had given me a good manicure and stating that he was not rude. Ok, he gave me a decent manicure, but any semi-decent, non-health code breaking salon will make sure that you leave with the nail polish you want. I have NEVER been somewhere where they refused to correct something that has made me unhappy, even when I was purchasing an $8 manicure. He also said to go ahead and write a poor review and then proceeded to yell at us that we were rude. I would say avoid this place like the plague. DO NOT COME HERE unless you want to be yelled at and receive poor customer service. Go to one of the many other nail salons in the area. read more

Disappointed. I have gotten my nails done at this shop a few times in the past 14 years and it's been a decent experience last Friday. I requested the powder dip and my nail tech was new to the shop. He was not thorough at all and parts of my nails didn't have a touch of top coat AND some of the powder dip is covering my cuticles. I should have said something while I was there, but I wanted to avoid any confrontation. One nail cracked and chipped a couple days later and they let come in for a repair. The repair was worse than the chipped nail. The same tech replaced the tip, glued it on crooked, and filed it down too short. I'm just going to walk around with crazy crooked nails for another week and a half until my next appointment at another salon.
