I was here in Sept. 2023, here is the review: The Good: 1. Food - was great. Tasty and just cooked right. All came in accordingly. Who knew, I can eat all that ! 2. Decor/Ambiance: about your typical italian restaurant in italy. Although, I like the serene scene, not being rush at all scene. Very relaxing and that long conversation with friends or relatives feel. 3.Location: in the quiet area of rome. The Bad: 1. My waiter - although, great and nice at first, became obnoxious as the night progress. I asked his name ( I dont want to him call...."hey waiter" all the time) gave me a very long, hard to remember, dont even know how to spell name. Disappeared after getting all my orders and never came back. Saw him strolling with a scooter. Another waiter was nice enough to asked me if i needed anything, i just ask for the check and gave a nice tip. 2. They discriminate against customer: it was around 10:30p, a couple came over wanted to dine, but once they found that they speak english, they immediate brushed them off by saying...."the kitchen is closed". the couple left. By 10:45P, another couple came by look at the menu, speaks italian and wala....the kitchen was opened and was served dinner. When you dealing with the public, esp. a restaurant at that, the customer(s) who dines at your restaurant are the blood of the business ! without the customer, you wouldn't be in business, hence you wouldn't have a job. Italy have an aging populations. They need to keep up with the changing times! So, tourist...be aware ! read more

Stayed at Westin nearby and asked concierge where I could get good carbonara within walking distance, and this is where he suggested. It was only 3 blocks away, and easy to find. The ambiance was traditional, but not too fancy. Funny - the server asked me if I wanted to order carbonara! Maybe the concierge already told ahead or it was written on my face...??? Carbonara was not too heavy/rich that you might see in the US, and it was not salty. The pasta was cooked al dente, of course! It was accompanied by good Chianti Classico that was recommended by the server: perfect match. Unlike other restaurants in Rome, they did not try to oversell anything which was appreciated. read more

This place still leaves a bad taste after the horrible treatment we received. Avoid at all costs. I still have no idea why our waiter was so bad. In fairness I should have recognized that we were being cheated much sooner and taken him to task. He was doing a typical job of loading the bill. On the other hand this is not an explanation for what was by far the worst liver I have ever been present with. I hope this is a warning to others that they avoid the experience we had there. read more

After reading the mixed reviews, I was nervous about following our guide's recommendation to eat here. So I'm happy to report all went well. The table was good, the service was good (as always in this country you must ask for the check), and no one attempted to rip us off, push for a tip, or pad the bill. The tortellini was delicious, and my lamb chops were tasty. Tiramisu was average. I think Tullio is a better restaurant overall in this area and price range, but this is certainly a very pleasant place for dinner. read more

Food was all delicious, the pasta was fresh and awesome. My daughter had the lasagna which was amazing, the tortellini with cream sauce was wonderful. Hubby had the spaghetti carbonara and that was so good as well. I will say the green salad literally was all greens, not great. The veal was just okay and the bread was a little burnt but still 4 stars...I would do 4.5 if I could. Service was excellent, very cozy restaurant. Definitely would visit again! read more

My wife and I went here tonite for dinner on the recommendation of our private your guide. It's a cozy place with a very friendly wait staff. They 1st bring you a fresh bowl of olives and toasted French bread with olive oil brushed on it. We both had soup as the 1st course. I had the vegetable minestrone which was great. My wife had tortellini soup which she enjoyed. I also accompanied my meal with 2 glasses of moscato, which I thought was the best wine I've had in Italy so far. For the main course I ordered Veal Milanese and my wife ordered the T bone steak. The T bone steak was just fair full of lots of gristle, but the Veal was lovely. Our hotel recommended this restaurant and made reservation for us. We weren't too hungry so we ordered two minestrone soups and shared a T bone steak. The soup was fine and the steak was really rare. I supposed Italian like their meat on the raw side. Our server was good and attentive. Overall experience is good and prices are reasonable. And I was surprised by the extreme reviews for this restaurant. It was pretty acceptable in my book. read more

The hotel recommended this restaurant to us and I truly enjoyed my meal. It is expensive but worth it. I ordered the Fillet with mashed potatoes and spinach. I know but I was craving something other than pasta. They also had 350ML bottles of wine (1/2 bottle). I paid $15 for two glasses of wine, not bad at all. This is a hidden gem under the ancient walls of Rome, just off the Via Veneto. This is a Tuscan steakhouse - with a full range of prime cuts of beef expertly grilled to exact temperatures. The grill also turns out pork, chicken, lamb and fish. This all begins with a full range of primi plates (first courses), antipasto and appetizers. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the staff is warm, knowledgeable and attentive. While we didn't have dolceon (dessert) as we were too full, we were given excellent biscotti and ain complementary house desert wine. We will be returning. read more

First place my family and I went on our trip to Italy (we're Californian Americans). The service was particularly good and the food was above average. They gave us Vin Santo and Biscotti after dinner free of charge and they were kind throughout the dinner. Like other reviewers have said, the selection was not as diverse as a few other places, but close to Villa Borghese and the hotel we stayed (the Rose Garden Palace), it was hard to deny all the positives. It's not necessarily my favorite place that we've been to in Rome, but if I can, I'll definitely come back for dinner during me next trip. read more

Three days in Rome and three meals at this restaurant. It is warm and inviting. The house red wine is better than any we tried during our three days. There is no automatic gratuity percentage. Black olives with zest of lemon and orange are served immediately upon seating. Toasted Tuscan bread served thereafter. The mixed antipasto included prosciutto with the freshest, ripest, sweetest melon, Italian meats, mozzarella, outstanding meatballs and sauce, olives, and roasted zucchini. The pasta and sauces (we tried three different ones) were unparalleled. The butter and sage ricotta ravioli was unbelievable. The price point is reasonable and less than many other restaurants without the same quality of food. The chef is awesome and the flavor profiles are outstanding. Pricing: For example, tagliatelle con fungi porcini is 14 euros. Spaghetti alle Vongole is 18 euros. The service is professional and fabulous. We felt like we were treated like family. read more

I eat here on my first night since my hotel is around the corner. It is a bit touristy but good. I enjoy the appetizers they bring, could be a bit more of a selection. The wine is great but a bit pricey. The wait staff has always been attentive and the owners are great. I enjoy it for my first meal in Rome. read more

Would have loved to try this highly rated restaurant, but had a bad feeling after being completely ignored and denied a table on Sunday, June 19. We had researched 2 places in Rome that serve a great Bistecca alla Fiorentina. Since we were geographically closer to this restaurant, we decided to give it a try. It is very near the US Embassy in a quiet neighborhood. We thought there may be a wait since we had no reservation, but it was early in the evening (5:30) with only 4 tables seated outside, and a few indoors. When we first walked up no one acknowledged us standing by main host table. Finally we spoke with an older gentleman (who had passed by us twice), who was possibly the maitre d'. He said we should "come back in 30 minutes." In the meantime, he showed a woman and her young son inside to a table (they seemed to be local). I would not have had a problem with this, as I imagined they had a prior reservation. What I did have an issue with is the rudeness and dismissive attitude that we were greeted with. We stood for a few minutes, perplexed as to why we would have to come back in 30 minutes when there were no more than 10 tables seated in the entire restaurant. My guess is that this restaurant gives a kickback to the nearby hotels for recommending it. It does not have a warm and welcoming vibe to all customers. Coupled with the visible disrespect upon our arrival, we decided to go to the other restaurant, which ended up being EXCEPTIONAL in both service and food! So, if you are looking for a great place for Bistecca alla Fiorentina (just an overall excellent menu!), head to I Butteri, which is about a mile away from this disappointment. read more

Outstanding Tuscan food in the center of Rome. Ribolitta is some of the best I've had even after living in central Tuscany for a number of years. Service is impeccable, and the selection is quite broad. In addition to the excellent soup, I had a wonderful Lomabata di Vitello that was as tender and flavorful as any I had in the central region of Toscana. They have an excellent selection of Tuscan wines as well, with many that are outstanding although not widely famous. If you are staying in the Via Veneto area in Rome, I highly recommend this establishment. read more

I have been relishing the incredible food here for most of my adult life. The tables are large, like picnic tables, and a little old nana seats couples and groups alike, pointing toward the table and saying, "Due, due". I love going here when I'm alone of a business trip, and have been paired off with a mother and her teen daughters (I paid the bill the company was so nice), to two Saudi princesses who treated me as the last single man they were going to see - they were secretaries in London, and their fathers summoned them to return for arranged marriages and a traditional life with berkas. They paid my bill because they were going to lose their remaining money. Don't let anyone fool you , eat here, it's one of two genuine Roman restaurants I always visit and I've never had a bad meal or bottle of wine ! read more

First the Good: This place has FANTASTIC food. I got Penne Arribiatta, and Tirimisu and they were both incredible. This is our 3rd and final night in Rome, and this was by far the best food we've had since we've been here, and that's saying a lot! Now the Bad: While many of the servers were very nice, our main waiter's service was APPALLING. After finishing our food, we asked if our 200€ bill could be split into 3 even thirds so each couple could pay a portion on their credit cards. We'd done this at every meal in London, Paris, and Rome without issues. The server huffed and loudly said "Aye aye aye", shaking his head as he walked over to cash us out. After we signed our receipts and handed them over with a "grazie", he said nothing and just walked away. Over the next few minutes, he proceeded to walk back and forth past our table looking at us as if to say, "Are you leaving yet?" Feeling like an unwelcome inconvenience to him, we finished our conversation and walked out. He didn't say anything to us as we left. I can say with 100% confidence and certitude that I have never in my life been treated with such wanton disrespect in a restaurant. We were gracious, thankful, and complementary with everything that was brought out to us, and in return we were made to feel like unwelcome foreigners. It's a shame that this will be the last memory we take from our stay in Rome. read more

This was one of the friendliest restaurants we ate at in Rome. It is located just across the wall from the Villa Borghese walls and is within close proximity to the U.S. Embassy. It is a Tuscan restaurant and the food was good. I do not eat meat, so I just had pasta and salad. The wait staff was extremely friendly and especially accommodating to my 5 year old. read more

Great little place. Out of the way for the area, right next to the wall to the Villa Borghese area. Has half bottles of wine, which is great for single diners. Good menu opens and a terrific staff. Big bowl of olives and fresh bread to start for every table. Desserts are home made, and to die for. Cannoli and tiramisu were awesome. Pasta is fresh and tasty and a good selection of 2nd courses rounds it off nicely. The Roman artichokes were great. Super friendly and attentive staff.
