Comes with slices of tomato on top which was a little odd. 2. Eggplant parm - two layered with a third layer of cheese. A bit flat but delicious and came out hot. Pizza was really good slices are huge. They even had a bar that would make you pretty much any drink you wanted! Pretty cool pizza spot. Was a bit pricey but overall really good food would definitely stop by again if in the area! read more

Pizza was good. Maybe very good. Great you have to go to Jersey or "The City", aka NYC. The pie is large and is very good for Delaware but I felt pricey. The owner is a nice guy and pleasant to talk to. Been here 8 years and still looking for "great". Born and raised in North Jersey. Went to school in the Bronx and been to Brooklyn and Queens hundreds of times. I guess I'm spoiled. Still can't beat Jersey or NYC. Gio's gets an A for effort and gives it a good shot. Very good pizza. Amongst the best in the area. I'd give 5 stars if it wasn't for being over charged tonight for pizza we picked. 2 pies $64... seemed a little high so I checked menu when we got home and should have been $56. Certainly not the end of the world... haha. But no one likes being over charged. Maybe we'll stick with Pomodoro's in Bethany. Also great pizza! read more

Although the pizza by the slice is HUGE... the quality is lacking. The crust was soft, the sauce was not good. It's just not great pizza. The slices are $5 and honestly it's just not worth it. read more

We were traveling through the area and wanted some pizza to have for the next couple days. The price for a lot of the other nearby pizza places were small cheese pizzas for over $20. That's crazy! We found Gio's and the prices were super reasonable! Especially since there were size options. We got the 14" New York Pizza and the Tomato Pie. Both of these pizzas were amazing! The tomato pie was my favorite though. The crust was spectacular. It's a nice ratio of dough, toppings, and crispiness. We've had enough leftovers to last us (2 people) for a couple meals. If I end up in Delaware again, I will definitely be back. The staff was also incredibly nice with a nice area to sit if you decide to eat at Gio's. read more

We always wait to visit a new restaurant to be fair and give them an opportunity to work out the kink that are inevitable in a new place. Having seen the photos of the pizza in other reviews here we were excited to try it. Being a pizza snob ( NY pizza rocks )isn't easy, but we were big fans of the former Casa Di Leo's as the best and closest to what we were used to. We ordered for pick up a 1/2 pepperoni pie. First, when we arrived we found out that while they are now accepting former Casa Di Leo gift cards at a discount, we were told we had to send an email to find out how much we will be granted of the balance, so we had to pay for our just ordered pizza. Thankfully, we were prepared to pay. Now, the pizza crust was thinner than we are accustomed to, but that can be ok provide all else is fine. It was not. There were 4 slices of cheese across the top of the pie and that was it. There was no shredded cheese at all - just a smaller than a credit card size blob of cheese x 4. When you bit into the part with the cheese on it, the entire slice of cheese pulled off solid. There was no stretch at all, just an entire less than credit card size slice of cheese. Now on to the "sauce" - it was mostly crushed tomato puree with some sauce, and it did have a tomato-ee bite. (acidic) Now we were told 20 minutes and got there in 15 and the pie was already waiting for us, so thankfully we always have a warm oven to give a pie a little heat. It made no difference - there was no flavor, no oregano, no stretchy mozzarella cheese and no crispy crust. On a scale of Grottos to the former Casa Di Leo's, we give it just over Grottos because the dough is not cardboard like. We will have to drive again. read more

I highly recommend Gio's Pizza Co. I went in and ordered a large NY style pizza with half sausage. It was out in about 15 minutes. Drove 15-20 minutes home and it was amazing! The thin crispy crust from the brick oven was what I've been looking for. The sauce is delicious and just the right amount of cheese. The place is small with some hightop tables and a decent sized bar. Will definitely go back, and highly recommend! Gio's is what lower Delaware has been missing. read more

Got a meatball sub and ordered cheese and sauce online from their website. They called and said it comes with that do you want extra and I said no just make it normal then. I went to pick up and the bartender said next time call it in instead of ordering online. He said that's a "online thing" so couldn't credit me back the extras I didn't get and just ask for money off next order instead. If your company uses an online ordering and pay you need to be able to credit someone back or don't use that system. Sub was good but ignorant employees will keep me from coming back! read more

We were excited to try Gios as we were fans of Casa DiLeo's. We ordered a Cesar salad and pizza with tomato sauce, cheese, basil. I asked if the kitchen could go heavy on the basil and was told there really isn't much basil on the pizza and if I want a decent amount of basil, I should order it as a topping, which I did. The salad was very good and I think the same delicious salad dressing that Casa DiLeo served. The croutons were very stale. The pizza had a delicious proportion of cheese and tomato sauce to crust. And I love the charred crust! However, the crust itself was disappointing (not thin and not thick; different from Casa DiLeo's). Also, despite adding basil as a topping, there was little on the pizza. The staff and server were welcoming and wonderful and the restaurant still has the homey feel that makes locals want to come back again and again. read more

We ordered carry out over the phone and picked up about 30 mins later- on time! We got NY pizza and a margarita pizza- both delicious! The charred crust was cooked well, nice and thin, hand thrown. The margarita had large chunks of fresh mozzarella, tomato slices, and big basil leaves. The NY pizza sauce was a little light for us, but still yummy. Friendly staff over the phone and during pick up. Happy to have these folks in our backyard- will order again :) read more

I ordered pizza and a salad on line from the beach to pick up on the way home. I stopped in 25 minutes later expecting to be ready or nearly ready as indicated on their website. when I asked about my order, the man at the register said 20-25 minutes, in a tone that suggested I should not have expected it any sooner. I am guessing the order was overlooked since it should not take 50 minutes for a pizza. I would be ok with the whole situation but the guy was kind of a dick about it and acted like it was my problem not his. If he had offered a "sorry we overlooked it" or "sorry we are really busy tonight" I would have rolled with that but I paid $36 for a medium pizza and a salad and added a 15% tip (on carry out), guess I just expected a little better customer service. So, I sat with my dog for 25 minutes in the parking lot waiting for a pizza that should have been ready just about when I got here. I'm a local, so next time I guess it will be Grotto's. read more
