My goodness! This is THE BEST pizza I've ever had! The margarita is by far the best cheese pizza I've had in my life, the mozzarella is made in house which makes for its exceptional flavor. I've never met such a great family operated business before that truly put there soul into there work. The customer service is unlike any I've encountered with a pizzeria! Pizza was ok, probably the best in Anthem but let's be honest that's not saying too much cause the pizza up here is nothing to brag about. It is by far the best freshest ingredients up here do take that for what's it's worth. I would give it another star or two but two things really turn me off here. 1. I've attempted to order the pizza roll on 3 different occasions an it's always sold out. This probably means it's pretty good but I guess most of us will never know. If something is this good an popular it might be a good idea to make more so you can get through the night without running out an looking bad. I understand if I happened once but 3 times in a row is reflecting poorly on the chefs abilities to gauge his patrons needs. Im sure some think that running out is s good thing but it's not. It upsets people who are set on having something that's on the menu that's not. Keep in mind that all 3 times have been on Friday an Saturday night. Each time I ate elsewhere so that's around $100 (combined) in orders left on the table for another restaurant to swoop up. An that's just me, imagine how much is being left on the table by all others. 2. The fact the this establishment stops taking phone orders at 8:30pm on Friday an Saturday's is a joke! This is earlier than all other places in Anthem. Besides the chain pizza places in Anthem all pizza joints close at 9pm. I just can't understand why pizza places would close this early, especially the new kid on the block. The way places come an go in Anthem you would think the new kids would want to be grabbing as big of piece of pie as possible. But they are closing the doors earlier than anyone but denying orders at 8:30. Add the money being left on the table it shutting the doors so early with the money being lost from running out of popular items an I'm sure it would be staggering. Sadly this is probably going to be the difference in Gio Pizza's doors staying open past that critical 1st year. It's hard enough to get Anthems support for good restaurants which make the odds of failure even higher. Tonight's non existent dining experience has led to me most likely not dialing their number again so add that to the list money list an your talking 1000's if they manage to survive. Of course these are my personal opinions an working in the business since eighteen I just might know a thing or two. But we all know what opinions are like an everybody got one. read more

This is my favorite pizza ever. It's the closest thing to real New York pizza I have been able to find out here. Occasionally they have one of their old favorites available, called the Prato and it is amazing. The meat is ground fine and the flavors or amazing. Everything we have ever had from this place has been fantastic. A great family business. Small seating area, order at the counter where the selection is out in front of you. This is great for to go orders because of limited seating and the pizza is still so good once you get home. To start with, I have food poisoning as I write. This is the fifth day and it's starting only now to go away but still not feeling my best. I kept denying it b/c GIO'S was always so great but after looking up my symptoms on the Web, there is no doubt in my mind. I am reporting this to the Health Dept. We decided to try GIO'S again since it's been awhile. NOT! The woman at the counter, who also answers the phone, is always rude and she is the wife! (Glad to read I'm not the only person who has experienced this.) We used to blow it off but we are tired of it. PIZZA was burned on the bottom (blackened), crust was between 1/16-1/8" thick. Outside wide edge of pizza was hard like a brick. There must have been an entire can of sliced olives dumped in one spot that had to be scraped off and I love olives. The cheese was hard to find. All so weird. The SALAD DRESSING is Ken's Salad Dressing available at all grocery stores ... nothing special. The Caesar dressing they used to offer went from rich and creamy to watery so we stopped ordering it bc it was tasteless. There were times in the past when occasionally the SALADS weren't fresh so we stopped going. The MEAT BALLS were so fatty they were near blubbery sitting in a lot of tasteless, watery sauce. There was a sizable bone chip in one of them which I had to spit out so in the trash it all went. Uncalled for! Not one of their EMPLOYEES smiled. Vibes so bad you could cut the air with a knife. Food used to be served at your table. Now, they yell out your order so you can take to your table. What happened? Used to love this place. So different now. No more referrals, ever! read more

Drove in from California to meet up with some friends. Figured try a local place, best idea I could have gone with. Ordered a Sicilian with spinach and bell peppers. Pretty basic pizza, but holy crap did they step it up. Massive pizza, massive amounts of great tasting toppings. Also ordered the garlic knots, wasn't a big fan of those but that might be just me. As I stood there waiting for my food to be ready, I had to order another slice of pizza because it looked so good, it was from a round pizza with artichoke, olives, peppers, ham, and more stuff. Hat slice was crazy heavy but the crust held up well. Could barely see the large amounts of cheese under all the toppings. So glad I got this extra slice because it was amazing. Anthem needs something special and I was hoping this is it. They opened April 1st so a little more than a week into business they still have some rough edges. My son and I went in looking to try a few slices. We ordered a slice of pepperoni and a slice of the caprese as well as a spaghetti role. Pizza was ok nothing to write home about. The spaghetti role was bland, cold and doughy I don't think it was cooked all the way. I would have liked a little more sause inside. Our trip was originally to get a slice of the Sicilian but they were out. I will give it a go again in hopes to get a slice. As far as the restaurant itself it was clean. They have a few tables and even less chairs. The tables aren't tall enough to stand and eat but yet good luck finding a chair. All and all they have potential. I will try again. read more

Stopped by on opening night. You could tell that everyone there was working hard and doing their best with the overwhelming orders coming in. We got the Garlic Knots & 16" Round Caprese. It was ready on-time. The knots were great. Lots of garlic, but knot (ha-ha) overwhelming. The pizza was good as well. All ingredients tasted fresh. I believe the basil was cooked with the pizza. I prefer fresh, but it still had good flavor. Crust was crispy, but not burned. Fairly thin crust in the center, but wouldn't be considered a thin crust pizza. Over all, pretty good for the first night. We will definitely be giving them another try to see if they maintain their consistency. So far, thumbs up. read more

Found this gem on Yelp when I was visiting Phoenix and I'm so glad we went there! Shared: -garlic knots: they're the size of cinnabons and freshly baked. Soft on the inside and perfectly buttery and garlicky -Sicilian style focaccia pizza- crispy outside, fluffy inside with very flavorful plum tomatoes on top -eggplant pizza- creamy ricotta, the breaded eggplant was cooked well, not soggy - margarita- perfectly crisp crust, good cheese to sauce ratio The people working there were extremely friendly and took the time to explain the whole menu and pizzas on display. Yeah, I'm pretty happy that Gio's is only five minutes away from me. We picked up a veggie pizza and a dozen garlic knots for dinner a few nights ago and it was simply perfect! Order came out of the oven right as I pulled up, about 15 minutes after ordering (about 6:45pm on a Tuesday). The pizza was fresh and tasted great. I thought the garlic knots were going to be small based on the price so I got a full dozen... lol nope. THEY'RE HUGE. Plan on 1-2 per person. Maybe. But the re-heated slices of cold, pre-made pies are not even as good as you get at Costco! And twice the price! We chose the Meat Lover's version, which turned out to be mostly ground beef (seriously?? not even sausage?) with some undercooked bacon and obligatory pepperoni. Very little sauce (but they will deign to put some on there for an extra buck!) and some chunks of mozzarella. Without a doubt, I've had better take-and-bake pizza from the Walmart deli! I ordered a buffalo pizza, a pepperoni pizza and 12 garlic knots. The pepperoni pizza was really good, thin, and airy with the right amount of cheese and sauce. The buffalo pizza was ok, the sauce tasted good and the chicken was white meet in large chunks. The garlic knots where the size of baseballs, didn't need to order 12 as I only ate 2 of them. The taste of the knots was good, the flavor was there but the bread was a bit doughy. Over the price of the meal together was around $59.00. Definitely a lot of food though. read more

Pure Deliciousness!! They are authentic and the man knew his stuff and said everything with his Italian accent. It's also a brick oven they use and I had the slice of Sicilian and OMG it was the best I ever had. The boyfriend got the stuffed pizza and that was AMAZING as well. A little pricey but for the food it's worth it! Service was great as well. Not a lot of seating though for guests hopefully they'll get more tables :) read more

Gio's is GREAT! We have been here a few times and had a couple different slices of their pizza. Their Lasagna pizza is amazing! We usually take out the Sausage and Pepperoni pizza. Its about a 20ish min drive one way for us to get the pizza but it is worth it.
