This was my first time ever having Chicago style deep dish pizza. I thought it was really good. If I were to do it again I would order the personal pan size because there's no way I could ever eat an entire small pizza on my own since I was traveling for business I was alone. The service was great and my server Khia was very kind and very friendly and the wait for the pizza was about 30 minutes, but she told me that ahead of time so it wasn't a problem at all. I see that all the poor ratings are due to service and all the good ratings are due to the food. So in summary: Agreed with everyone. Service is a little poor. It took three different staff before we had a proper introduction and were led to our seats. This turned out to be the waitress. The other two staff at the front, one was on the phone the entire time and never acknowledged us, and the other had no idea what to do. So yes, there are definitely service issues. But our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and gave us updates as our deep dish pies were cooking, and kept our glasses full with refills. A+ to her! The food - typical Giordano's. Not the best I've had even from this chain though. I ordered some specialty pizza with chicken sausage, spinach, and mushrooms. The mushrooms were all shriveled on top of the pizza, clearly put on in the beginning and baked for the full 40 minutes, which should never happen. There was too much crust and not enough cheese, compared to most deep dish pies I've had. The flavor was otherwise fine and I do like the chicken sausage. Overall it was decently good deep dish but this actually sours me on Giordano's overall after prior great pies. And yes, the 3 stars is intentional. It really wasn't BAD in any way - it just wasn't good, not to the level I've experienced at other Giordano's and expect of deep dish pies in general. I have to thank our server for her service, because without her, this could have gone way downhill from here. Take heed, proprietor! P.S. Please make sure Yelp changes your location. I ordered the meatball sandwich. I don't know how you can mess a meatball sandwich app but they did there was no sauce on it it came on the side it was bland it was just weird very very bland not good at all maybe the pizza is good but I do not recommend a meatball sandwich is horrible! read more

First time trying deep-dish pizza, we got the BBQ chicken pizza and really liked it! It's got a LOT of cheese, so be prepared. A small deep dish should be plenty to split between two people.. we were stuffed and had two pieces left to spare. However, be prepared for a long wait time as it takes 45-60 minutes for the pizza. We got the mozzarella triangles to snack on during the wait, and they were just like any mozzarella sticks. I love Giordano's but I HATE the Matteson location. They really need to clean house and start from scratch with their staff. The first time I ordered from here, it was for delivery. It was not too long after they first opened so it was a while ago. It took 2 hours plus for delivery. Nothing was done about that. So after a long week at work, cooking was not an option. I decided to give them another try because again, I love Giordano's. I called and going through the prompts to get to a live person was like calling a cable company. So frustrating. After finally getting to someone, I was put on hold. After someone finally got on the phone, I placed my order. They said an hour fifteen for pick up. Ok cool...I left after an hour twenty. So I got there almost an hour and a half later. I get in the store and there are a couple of upset patrons because they had been waiting and waiting and waiting. My thoughts, "phew...happy I gave them an hour and a half. My pizza has to be ready.". NOPE! I was wrong. I paid and waited. And waited. And waited. Then was told just a couple more min. I waited. And waited. I joined in with the other patrons who were still waiting. Like SERIOUSLY. A guy comes and gets my receipt and goes to the back. Comes back and said my pizza is just about done. At this point, I have been there over 15 min at least. Patrons are mad, the phone is going mad, one of the cashiers was mad because she was getting verbally abused by patrons due to issues in the kitchen. A few minutes later, the manager Tasha, comes out. She tells me they dropped my pizza. ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!? She said they just told her and it will be another 25 min for my pizza. So basically the pizza was dropped before I got there and no one told me. Instead, they let me wait while they threw another in the oven. I was livid but I'm starving and I had my heart set on my stuffed pizza with mushrooms, green peppers, and pepperoni. I didn't have it in me to argue so I said fine, went to my car, and waited. My pizza finally finished (I'm over 2 hours at this point) and the manager gave me a full refund, a drink, an app. I will say, that was a great gesture for terrible service. Hats off to Tasha but they have to get their operations together at that location because it's ridiculous. I don't care how good my pizza was, I can say I'm not sure when I'll go back to that location. read more

Stayed in the Hampton Inn behind Giordano's and decided to order here. We ordered two chopped salads to be delivered. We were told delivery would take an hour. The order took 1 1/2 hours and the salads had no bacon. The delivery guy did have a receipt to give me for my order. We called the store and informed them the order was incomplete and were told they would bring us bacon along with the receipt. Keep in mind the restaurant is only 5 minutes away. It took another 30 minutes for the delivery guy to return and he brought the receipt but no bacon to complete the order. I really wanted some good pizza before I left the Chicago area. I haven't been to Giordano's in a long time and was very excited to see I was close to one. My server was great very friendly and very informative about the menu. Her name was Nicky and when I asked about the lemon vinaigrette she assured me that I would like it. She was so right! It wasn't too lemony- it was perfect and had lots of shaved asiago cheese on the mixed greens. My server was great, very friendly and very attentive. This is location is worthy of a 5 star review due to the food and the manager LaDaris. LaDarius handled a very difficult situation on Saturday night, November 23rd. My family and I decided to eat there for dinner as they were visiting from Texas. Everything was going Ewell as usual, until the lights went out. The backup generator came on but only provided some relief. The manager came around to each table to speak with each table. She offered solutions, as well as, gave as updated details. Our family waited patiently and our pizzas were served. This was no small task as again the lights were out. They ensured that the pizza was the same quality as always. They also couldn't print receipts so they gave us the entire meal for free. Thank you again for your dedication. read more

Dined in on a Sunday evening around 7pm and it was my first time here. Small venue, but happy to have this venue in the suburbs. Took a while to get acknowledged upon entering; about 4-5 minutes actually. Party of two, we were sat in a small booth and our server Matt was pretty awesome. Younger guy, he was nice, smiled, laughed with us, great service. Pizza was wrong. They forgot some of our ingredients and it wasn't served very hot. The manager was nice enough to reflect the mistake on our bill though. Bathrooms were unkept and unusable because someone messed all over each stall, definitely needed attention. Overall, the restaurant is average but could use a little more attention to customer service/experience. read more

I am a big fan of the Giordano's franchise but I will not go back to the Matteson location. I'd ordered a small thin sausage with spinach and I got hand tossed thicker crust it wasn't the normal thin pizza. Also it was cut really weird....also tons of cheese but limited sauce....lastly the flavor wasn't the usual Giordano's famous taste. It was like someone decided to do their own thing instead of the patented signature pizza. It was a waste of money but at least I know now and continue to travel into the city or Orland for the pizza I know and love. read more

My family and I are from Saint Louis and though we love our cracker thin crust, we always have to dive into a deep dish pizza every time we are in town. This is our favorite location as it has the most friendly staff and cleanly environment. Nikki (our server) was an absolute delight and added a personal touch to our dining experience. You will wait a bit for your pizza but it's worth every second. Plus if you're lucky enough to get Nikki, she will make sure to tend to you like you were a personal guest in her home. The service was sooooooooo BAD!!! I brought an out of town friend here to experience Chicago style deep dish pizza. We enter on a Sunday at almost 1:30pm. A party of 5 or 6, and two different couples were all I saw dining...so NOT busy. After waiting a few a woman server came and offered us something to drink until our server came. Well he never came for at least 15 minutes I kid you not, nor the drinks!! My friend who never complains even had to mention how long it was taking. When the waiter finally comes, no apologies. We ordered a veggie deep dish in which he explains it will be 45 min. I already knew this which is why it also was so frustrating he took forever to come take our order, that pizza could have been halfway done by now. Whatever. I forgot to mention one of the couples became upset,apparently they had been waiting a long time for their order. As they're complaining to the manager their sandwiches...yes sandwiches come up. These people waited forever for sandwiches?? What's going on in that kitchen?? The manager just looked confused and mildly apologetic. Our pizza finally came and it was delicious! Our waiter never came to Check on us again, my friend wanted a refill but nobody to ask. We had to ask the guy at the front to get our waiter for a to go box and the Check. My friend said the service was so bad and I said well no tip for him and she agreed, stating how it was completely justified. I just don't understand how people who work on tips think they can give crappy service and expect a tip. 18-20% is my standard tip, I even give 10-15% for subpar service but this today was just unacceptable. If things happen, explain and apologize...at least ACT like you care. This place needs to do better...period! read more

I ordered pizza to be delivered to my home and it took 3 hours to get there. When the delivery driver came to my home he was unmasked and standing in my storm door wide open. I try to support local businesses where I live, however, if the venue can't pull their act together I would rather drive 20 mikes for better service! This Giordano's is terrible; the Waite staff is slow, you wait forever on your order, carry out orders - no cheese nor crushed peppers. If you don't have items for carry out, then offer your patrons small containers premade from the kitchen...The staff is so busy filling phone in orders they can't sit people waiting to dine in... This was truly a great experience my waitress Tiffany was great and her energy made me feel welcome. This was my first time in Illinois and trying deep dish pizza from Giordano's. I was not disappointed with the small meat and more meat pizza. The only thing was the small was not small which served 6 slices. I was only able to finish 2 slices and boxed up the rest. I thought this location was wonderful! I'm not sure how it has an average of 2.5 stars, but I'm from Elgin, and this location is far superior. We didn't come on a busy weekend, it's a Wednesday afternoon; however, very pleased nonetheless! The interior looks like it might have been remodeled, not sure, but it's up-to-date-modern with a little bit of rustic pizzeria feel to it. It's CLEAN!! The bathrooms are VERY CLEAN!! At least during my visit! I'm giving 4 stars because our pizza was wrong, but I understand the confusion as we had some additions to the "special." Either way, it was taken care of promptly and extremely courteously. And Our server, Matt, was very pleasant, checking on us frequently. The host was also pleasant, and I saw the manager walking around occasionally to check to make sure tables and areas were in order. We will come here again if we are ever in this area!! read more
