I have had it with this location. They are not consistent and I can't stand hit or miss establishments. I go here often especially being the location closest to me. But, I will be traveling to Frankfort going forward. I hate it because my food is usually good but lately I've been getting crap. It started with my most recent combo sandwich bread tasting old and literally crumbling. They "might" have gotten away with it if the sandwich was dipped as I requested. Instead, they just wet it so nearly half of it was DRY and very stale! Then, I went to Frankfort just because I was in the area and decided to finally try the caesar sandwich and it was so delicious I decided to get another the next day BUT from Flossmoor. I hadn't been to Buona in years and this was my first time at this location. Honestly, I wasn't that impressed with the Rosemont location so I didn't have high expectations when I stopped in for lunch one afternoon. I had a burger and my sister ordered a hot dog. We also had fries and drinks. My sister didn't like the hot dog at all. She said it had a weird after taste and definitely seemed like an off brand. She didn't eat it all for fear of getting sick. She also said that there was so much relish on the hot dog that the bun was soggy. The burger was okay, but nothing special. One thing I noticed was that the burger was larger than the bun so some of the beef hung over the bun. The fries were just okay. The restaurant had a nice crowd and the service was reasonably fast which was a plus. The atmosphere was quiet and inviting. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the electrical outlets placed near some of the tables is very convenient if you're dining in. I probably won't return to Buona anytime soon. read more

Buona restaurant in Flossmoor Illinois was not worth the time and health risk taking during this pandemic. After getting up enough nerves to go outside, I stopped by Buona to grab a quick meal. Because I like seeing the preparation of my meal and observing the cleanliness of the environment, I normally don't use the drive through. I order two pesto turkey sandwiches, one salmon sandwich, and an order of large fries. I asked for extra lettuce and sauce on the sandwiches. I also had a $5 coupon which I was not allowed to use. Bottom line, instead of turkey on my sandwich I got chicken . I called the manager, he explained that they were slicing the turkey a different way...blah..blah...blah. The building its self is very contemporary and it's a clean establishment. On the other hand, the customer service needs improvement. When you ask the workers to add more ingredients, they don't listen and are very stingy. These sandwiches are very costly, so being stingy on lettuce peppers, and condiments is not an option. So the sandwiches are decent, but they are not worth the money when you can go to other restaurants and get more products for a cheaper price. Update: In May 2020 I ordered an 7" Charbroiled Sausage Sandwich. I can say that the food was very skimpy. You have to pay for cheese and sauce to be added. First time at a Buona. Came inside and I ordered a chicken parm sandwich and side of fries to go. Every staff member I interacted with were both friendly and helpful. Food was made fresh and didn't take long at all. I got greedy and dug my hand in the bag to get a fry and they were so hot and delicious that I decided to stay and enjoy my meal. I came to this location today since I was running an errand at a nearby Target, and Buona is giving away an Italian Beef sandwich if you have the app. This location also has a Rainbow Cone truck conveniently next to it, so I was able to kill 2 birds with a stone. This place is super busy today because one they're giving away a sandwich but also because it's National Italian Beef Day. Having worked in retail before, I'm appreciative that the staff showed up to work and everything was running smoothly for the most part. It's a short wait to order, to get your food, and the drive thru is also busy. They even shut off the app orders. I ordered a regular beef with mozzarella cheese, giardinera, original way, and gutted (scooping out the bread, so it's kind of skinny and thinner than normal). I also ordered a crispy chicken sandwich on a lettuce bun since I was really curious how their chicken sandwich fairs, and I also didn't know they started offering lettuce buns so that's pretty cool. I ordered a regular fry and a bottle of water as well. I should've checked my order like open everything up before I left because my sandwich was made on a bun, even though my receipt said lettuce. It's not a deal breaker thankfully my yeast intolerance isn't as bad as my friends who have celiac. Mistakes happen, and I'm pretty sure it's not intentional since my beef was actually gutted. The chicken sandwich is delicious, so I will have to come back when it's not super busy to give them another chance. If I dined in, I will most likely have caught the mistake and asked if they could make it right. Since I didn't dine in, I didn't check, and I took it to go, it is what it is. My go to place for food on the go these days. 95% of the time everything is spot on but if it's not, the manager will fix it. They have a nice dine in area and when I'm not in a rush I like to sit inside and calmly enjoy my meal. $70 carry out order for the family last night. We were so hungry and excited. Got back to the house and discovered 3 of 4 sandwiches had none of the two toppings ordered on each. 4th had only one of the two toppings ordered. Paid extra for each of these. Also missing was an order of fries and both "on the side" ingredients purchased. Fries that did make it into the order were undercooked and cold The only meal of the 5 ordered that was accurate was the kids chicken tenders. After eating our "Okay" sandwiches (nothing special), drove the 15 minutes back to the store to have all of our missing items refunded. The manager was polite and apologized, but this place seriously lacks attention to detail and any kind of quality control process. I checked the receipt the clerk gave me after ordering and he got most of what I told him accurate and I figured I'd let the 1 sandwich he forgot cheese on just slide. However, our 92% accuracy dropped to 15% accuracy upon inspection at home. Having worked in a restaurant myself (actually preparing Italian Beef sandwiches), I'm totally baffled how every sandwich we ordered was prepared incorrectly. You just read the ticket and do the thing on the ticket, right? I was going to mention that they have fast service, but if the cost of speed is 85% inaccuracy, then fast service turns into a negative attribute rather than a positive. I would have happily waited 5 or even 10 minutes longer to have my family enjoy what they actually ordered instead of everyone sitting around the table complaining "hey they screwed up mine too!" Two stars for having ok beef and being clean, but with 1000 other places to get an Italian Beef sandwich in Chicagoland, I'll take my chances elsewhere. read more

As far as first impressions go, improvement in service is needed. Some of the staff is still too new. Those folks get a pass. The managers and trainers, however, make up the difference. The fries are pretty good and the chicken artichoke panini is pretty good. The family liked he $5 solo pizzas and the pretzel burger. The daily specials, excluding Saturday, are a good promo too. You are not ChickfiLe which has the fastest car lines for food and you are not Portillo's which was the slowest line until Buona's new system that isn't working. Complete shit show. I was in the store on the evening of 10/21/21. I placed my order at 7:40 PM. We didn't walk out of the store until 8:20 pm. I kid you not. After seeing people who ordered after us served and leave I went up to those preparing the orders to inquire. One of the bags that had been sitting there for 20 minutes turned out to be ours.
