Need pizza! Haven't been here in 20 years
    Angela P.

It's been 20 years since I've ordered food from this particular location. It is not because the food wasn't good, but another one opened nearer to my parent's home. I'm glad we are back. We ordered a small vegetable pizza and three Italian beef sandwiches. The food was delicious! The pizza was loaded with fresh veggies and very cheesy! It was so loaded that two slices did the trick. My husband loved the Italian beef. I tasted it and agree 100% with him. The peppers were spicy and sweet and complimented the beef. The sandwiches also came with a side of chips. BTW, this location has a drive-up window so you don't need to leave your car to pick up your order. It's not only convenient but safe. Call in your order and then pick it up. Sweet!

Half sausage, half cheese thin crust pizza. Slightly awkward angle, but that's because the other parts were mostly already eaten.

Good sausage and cheese. Crispy, sweet sauce. Fast service. Go to Chicago style pizza.

The pizza is what they are known for but I come in for the soup, salad and chicken. The salad bar has all my favorites like the green and black olives, cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, homemade croutons, red onion and more with all the classic dressings. If I eat in a proper diners order I hardly ever have room for pizza. Which in my mind says I ate healthy and hearty. As for the environment, it's small and cozy just enough room to keep good business. Not too big, and not so small you feel cramped. Thanks Chicago Dough for a nice weekday meal that I didn't have to cook. $10.49/pp plus drinks.

CDC's pizza has been OUTSTANDING for decades! Why are the south suburbs so reluctant to provide quality eateries while instead subjecting its residents to fast food drivel?! Family owned/operated establishments are the highjacked victims of municipality greed! The south suburbs need to realize that its residents drive miles NORTH or WEST for quality grocers, clothiers, housing, AND cuisine. If south suburban régimes would invest in its neighborhoods, they might redefine themselves and have "northerners" hit I-57 SOUTH for a worthy lifestyle. In the meantime, CDC, move up north where you will be appreciated! Shame on you, Richton Park, IL, and other south suburbs like you!!!

The pizza was absolutely delicious, still the best pizza in the Chicagoland area in my opinion, especially when you dine in. The breadsticks with marinara were also excellent. Some places lose what made them special over the years, but the original Aurelio's still feels like Aurelio's.

I had not heard about it until it made it to the national conscience when a native Chicagoan became the Pope, and his favorite pizzeria was identified as Aurelio's. So on a short visit to Chicago, my wife and I (along with her mom and aunt) made the longer trek to this location (even though there were many locations closer), and was really glad we did. Founded in 1959, it was the first Chicago pizzeria to franchise, with now 34 locations across the country (20 in IL, 11 in IN, 2 in FL, 1 in NV). This location is the oldest, and (thinking) the largest, with two stories of seating, and many separate rooms. They will seat you, keeping large sections empty during less crowded lunch time. There is a section where the current pontiff liked to sit during his visits back to his hometown, and one is allowed to take pictures, which we did gladly. The menu can vary amongst the locations, and this one does not have baked clams as I was hoping. So got a order of Bosco Sticks ($10 for 4), reminded me of Olive Garden breadsticks stuffed with a bit of mozzarella. The pizza sauce for dipping was good. Hot tea was ordered for the seniors ($3 each). There is a decent selection of draft beers, so got a pint of Blue Moon ($6.50) and Aurelio's Batch 59 ($6.50). The latter is hoppy, and I appreciated the very reasonable prices. As for the pizza, I really, really wanted it to be the best Chicago-style pizza I've ever had. Unfortunately, It wasn't: which everyone at the table (probably 150 years total of living in Chicago eating hundreds of pizzas) agreed with. The large 15" pizza ($29 for 2 toppings: toppings were fine (pepperoni and pineapple 1/2 with sausage [no fennel] and hot giardiniera 1/2), with plenty of cheese spread to the very end of the crust. The cheese had been beautifully browned. We had asked for it to be cooked in the 'old oven' (that request was even marked on the receipt). But the crust was a bit too thick and fluffy, and just wasn't as good as a lot of tavern style pizzas I've had (as an example, I much prefer the pizza from Rosati's, a chain that has even more locations, and each Chicago suburb town has their own local favorite as well: e.g. Quonset Pizza in Waukegan). So looks like this is really a South-side favorite. As for the service, the sitting hostess wasn't the friendliest, but Alyssa (our server) was great throughout: very friendly answering our questions and making sure we were doing OK. I ended up buying a t-shirt from the front counter (Pope Leo XIV: Poperoni (trademarked) Peace, Love, Aurelio's) for $25. Payment is made at the table, and they do have a 3% surcharge for credit card payment.
