Not impressed. We are here 7 years ago and it was fabulous. Ordered a classic and it arrived with no pepperoni. Server was super nice and apologetic took it back and they added pepperoni to the top then over baked it. This place was a huge disappointment. We ordered a pizza 45 minutes in advance, were told to come back and be seated when it was ready, and even received a notification that the pizza was done. When we returned, we were promptly seated, but that's where everything fell apart. No server came by for over 15 minutes. When we finally asked about our pizza, the server argued that it couldn't be ready yet because "it usually takes 60 minutes." We explained that we'd already been notified it was ready. After checking, he returned with the pizza, which, unsurprisingly, was lukewarm by then. He took our drink orders, and a friend ordered an appetizer, but we never saw this joker again. No check-ins, no water refills, no "how's everything?" nothing. We had to ask another server to find him and when he finally reappeared, it was to drop off the bill--and he even told two of the girls to pay when they hadn't ordered anything. Awful service, disorganized staff, and completely disappointing experience. Do NOT waste your time here - go to Pizzanos, Ginos, Lous, anywhere BUT here. We really enjoyed Giordano's. As we were staying at the Peninsula right next door and could actually see the bright red sign from our window, we just had to try their deep dish. From our wonderful server who had great recommendations and was knowledgeable about the menu, to the manager who checked up on us, to the ambiance of the place and the delicious deep dish pizza, everything was five stars and I would visit again when I return to the great city of Chicago. read more

Very, very bad experience. We were told the wait would be 40 minutes, but after waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes, the manager came to tell us that our pizza had been given to another customer. The only solution offered was to wait another 30 to 40 minutes. We were with our children, so we left without eating. Very poor customer service and no real effort to make things right. Obviously it ranges per location, but Giordano's is the best staple place to experience deep dish Chicago pizza. Yes the wait for the pizza is long, but good things take time and they do warn you of that when you walk in so it is to be expected. We were welcomed by a very friendly waitress who was attentive to our needs even though it was lunch hour and it was busy. We are not huge deep dish fans but seems like most people come for deep dish, but it gives tourist trap vibes. Service was decent and the starting salad was nice. When in Chicago, I feel like it's a must to get a deep dish pizza. Be prepared--it takes a while to be ready. Since the pizza is so thick, one slice is quite filling. We ordered a few pizzas for the table, and our group also got some calamari. It tasted fine. I'm not sure if I love deep dish pizza that much, but I'm usually not a pizza lover, so I'm not the best judge. However, the service was nice. Spacious spot that we were able to easily get a table for 10, and they even took a group picture for us with what looks to be a nice camera (if I'm remembering correctly). Place was very busy on a Monday, but only a short wait. Took the opportunity to order while waiting. Had the calamari as an appetizer while waiting and it too was excellent. Service was fast and efficient. Family vibe and low key. A bit loud but that did not bother us. Place is full of energy. My college-aged kiddo says only tourists go to get deep dish. Not a Chicago native but I disagree. Place was filled with tourists, business folks and locals. If you want great pizza with a long Chicago tradition, this is a great spot. read more
